Problems with 2010 Ford Fusion FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

On average, the 2010 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE and its various aspects after 59 142 miles.

Recently reported FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

51000 miles on car. driving 45 mph. engine wrench light comes on. engine dies. drift to side of road. starts again. wrench light comes on. engine dies again. dealer states it is the throttle body. not covered by warranty because is not part of the mechanical engine but fuel system. job in $600 range but ford has no replacement parts! they are back ordered because so many are failing all over country! this is ford's engineering problem not the customers. and someone is going to get killed. *tr

From a standing stop i pressed the accelerator the car surged then bucked, surged then bucked. i was able to get the car out of heavy traffic. there was no warning and the "check engine" light illuminated as the problem occurred. dealer told me part was back ordered until mid july as this is a chronic problem with the fusion with thousands of fusions sitting in dealer lots waiting for part. *tr

The vehicle lost acceleration and stalled. restarted and the condition recurred approximately in 3 or 4 miles. again, i turned the key off then restarted and again, the condition repeated after several miles down the road. the car was taken to the ford dealership the next day and no code was available for the mechanic to diagnose. the condition did not reoccur for six weeks and resurfaced again with identical symptoms. returned the vehicle to the dealership where this time they affirmed the throttle body failure. the part is unavailable at this time because of high demand exhausted the availability of the unit. *tr

Car started jerking and the throttle light and engine light came on. lost power and acceleration. had difficulty maneuvering it to the side of the road. vehicle had to be towed to dealership where mechanic diagnosed the problem as failed throttle body assembly. *tr

I was traveling approx 60 mph in crowded traffic when suddenly and without warning the car stalled and lost its power. fortunately, i was able to guide the car safely to the side of the road. the wrench light did come on. after about a minute and just prior to calling road assistance, i attempted to start the car. it did so successfully and i was able to drive to my local ford dealership immediately. for two days, the service department attempted to duplicate the failure but was unable to do so. no dtc was produced. however, after much discussion and research, they went ahead and replaced the throttle body. so far, the problem has not recurred. *tr

Throttle body malfunction caused the ford fusion to stall every couple blocks. had to tow it to the dealer who diagnosed the problem as throttle body replacement was needed. *tr

Wife was driving down 4 lane highway when car stalled and died due to bad throttle body. cars behind her had to change lanes, one truck had to slam on brakes. the red wrench light came on. i've heard other complaints on the very same issue with nothing being done. i'm reporting now because i've got another issue with the driver side axle leak. also another issue i've seen multiple reports on. i bought extended warranty but have been out $200 for deductible. these are issues that ford needs to step up and make recalls. the bad thing is i've had to wait for the parts both times because its such a bad issue that everything is on backorder. please get these things taken care of before someone gets seriously hurt. my wife was very close to getting hit by a big truck. i think people that have been out money for these things should also get refunded. there needs to be a recall on both issues. thank you.. *tr

Pulled out into traffic and my car lost all acceleration and began to shudder when i got it to the shoulder. turned it off, and back on: no issue. less than 40 yards down the road it did it again. took it to auto zone, the only code that came up was that my "fuel door stuck open". which is impossible, because it came with a "racing cap" i.e no twist-off cap. drove fine for two months, then came back something awful to the tune of freeway 75mph to zero, at which point it went into "limp mode" and barely made it home due to numerous stalls. just had to replace this defective throttle body on a 3-year old car. ridiculous ford. also, my drivers' side interior door handle broke out of nowhere. *tr

I bought a 2010 ford fusion, 4 months ago in march, 2 months after purchase the car began shutting off while driving, the problem was only happening every once in a while, but has progressed more and more to the point that i was unable to drive at all. i took the car to the dealership, who sent it to be serviced. then i find out that it is the throttle body and would cost me 600 dollars to get repaired and that it is not covered under warranty. i liked the fusion until i began having these issues, but i fear for the life myself and my kids in this vehicle and don't think that i should be having these problems right after the purchase of a new vehicle. *tr

Driving at 45 mph in rush hour traffic vehicle stalled wrench light came on and would not accelerate vehicle crept at less than 5 mph when i finally got to a safe place to pull over i shut vehicle off wrench light gone and vehicle worked fine. i took it to dealership they said it was throttle body charged me $596 to replace they said it was common. however shouldn't this be a recall since it is so dangerous. *tr

Traveling on expressway the car had no throttle. pressing the gas pedal but no response. engine started to miss fire. wrench light came on. pulled over, shut car off. started up and ran ok . pulled into an advance auto they scanned no codes. next day on expressway again. same thing happened. this time engine light came on. taking back to dealer today. *tr

I was driving at 55 mph and the car suddenly lost power all it would do was idle. this has happened several times i checked the codes with my scan tool it gave two codes for stuck throttle body one for stuck closed and the other one for stuck open. *tr

While driving, the car jerked and the rpms dropped and i could not accelerate. i was able to get the car to the side of the highway and noticed that the wrench light had turned on. i put the car in park, shut off the engine, waited a few seconds and started the care again. no lights were on so i got back on the highway for it to happen again a mile down the road. this happens occasionally (roughly 15 times in the last 3 weeks) and sometimes the wrench light comes on, sometimes it's the engine light and sometimes it's the battery light. this occurs no matter the speed, no matter the temperature, no matter the number of things using the battery (because the battery light came on a few times). it is completely random and got it to the shop to tell us it was code p2111, something with the throttle body. it needs replaced, so they say - but is on national back order. *tr

I was driving home when the car lurched and the gas pedal quit responding. i had to stop the car - the engine was still running, turn it off and then restart it. this happened in the middle of an intersection and a large truck almost rear ended me. it happened again three times on the way to work one morning and once where there was no shoulder for me to pull off on. this was during morning rush hour. the ford dealership says that they don't know when the parts will be in to fix it, but probably not until the middle of june - this leaves me without a vehicle. this must be a bad problem when there are no replacement parts available. i was told this is not a covered repair. *tr

6-1-13,2010 ford fusion with 4 cyl. approximately 35 mph, car began to shudder, would not accelerate then cut out. wrench light came on. coasted to side of road and pulled off. tried to restart car, restarted on second try. ran fine the 20 miles back home. same thing occurred on 6-4-13. *tr

I was driving to my mother house to pick up my son my car suddenly just lost all power. it was still running but not accelerating. it was violently shaking and a wrench light came on. i pulled into a parking lot turned the car off when i restarted it came right back on after that i had no trouble that night. a couple of days later my son and i were headed home it did this to me again but when i tried to restart the car it had more trouble and only allowed me to 100 yard or so. my mechanic cleaned the part it did fine for about another month or so until this past monday 7/29/13. i have currently bought a new throttle body and it has seemed to fix this car. ford needs to realize this a problem.the car has stopped on me numerous time and could have caused many accident. i began looking and this seems to be a common issues among this car. its time for a recall. i must say that i was lucky to have a mechanic for a dad because i was quoted almost 700 dollars for this job and lucky he could do this for free with only the cost of the part. *tr

While driving on 35mph roadway, my car suddenly lost acceleration. engine appeared to be "shaking". i was able to turn into a shopping center parking lot. i coasted to a space, turned off car. i restarted, it appeared to be ok, and proceeded home. another 1/4 to 1/2 mile away (25 mph), it did the same thing. i restarted, made it home in my neighborhood. i had car towed to an auto shop i have used, and they diagnosed "check engine" as the throttle body. they stated they talked to ford, and found this was a big problem, so much that they were unable to get the part for another month. *tr

While driving, the electronic throttle body malfunctioned, causing my car to start to lose speed rapidly. i was in interstate traffic, making this issue that much more dangerous. i was lucky that i was in the right hand lane without heavy traffic and could pull safely off of the road. this has occurred multiple times since then. it seemed to be an intermittent problem, but has now put my car out of commission until it is fixed. the cost of repair is over $400. upon researching this, i found that it is a very common problem that ford seems to know about, but will not cover under the extended warranty i have because it is an "emissions" part. i must state that i absolutely love my car and like the way it drives, but am disappointed that this has not been recalled since it is common enough for the dealer to know what it is before even looking at the car. i also must say that my dealer has dealt with me fairly and honestly through the whole process. *tr

I was on the freeway when the 2010 ford fusion lost power, began to shudder and the wrench light illuminated on the instrument cluster. luckily i was able to get to the side of the road before the vehicle died. i had the vehicle towed to a ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a bad throttle body. after doing some very basic research on the internet i found that this is a huge problem and it isn't be covered under a recall or the powertrain warranty. i think that ford should be, at least, helping consumers cover the cost of this replacement. *tr

The wrench icon lit on the dashboard while driving on the interstate. vehicle immediately lost power and had to be quickly driven to the shoulder of the road. car could not be driven further. vehicle towed to nearest ford dealership. dealership advised me throttle body had failed. vehicle at dealership for over 2 weeks, and cost 900 dollars. not covered by warranty since vehicle was just beyond 60,000 mile warranty. *tr

Accelerator suddenly lost ability to accelerate and the wrench light appeared on the control panel. after coasting to a stop was able to turn off car and restart. this has recurred ~10 times. ford dealership diagnosed as a faulty throttle position sensor (tps). to replace they ordered a complete throttle body and motor assy.$185.41 plus labor. ford is unable to get this replacement part for at least 3 weeks so far. . *tr

Driving at 70 mph, lost power, check engine light came on and the wrench icon on dash also lit up. coasted to stop and it ran very rough but wouldn't move. if you turned it off and restarted it, it would run for a couple of miles and then it would happen again. diagnostic code 2111 showed meaning throttle body malfunction. the ford dealer,[xxx] (tampa) reported that ford is having widespread throttle body malfunctions on the 2010, 2011 and 2012 2.5 liter cars. they didn't have the part in stock and they told me it was on back order and they didn't know when to expect it. they said ford has ordered it's supplier to make at least 1,000 replacement throttle bodies to address this problem apparently for cars still under warranty.. i'm reading that the ford escapes are having this type of problem. too. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

While driving ~70 mph, my car stalled - the gas was no longer responsive and the rpm went to 1k. i was fortunate enough to be able to pull over and stop my car. between the speeds of 5 and 0 zero miles an hour, the engine shook violently (i have witnessed this with the hood up - it is abnormal) and the wrench symbol turned on as well as the check engine light. i was able to restart the vehicle within minutes and drive normally. however, this event repeated itself every 30 to 60 miles on a 300 mile trip. after this trip, the vehicle was "fine" for about six weeks, 1000-1500 miles - city or highway. however, the battery died at one point. also, there were times when the gas was not responsive - it would hiccup. occasionally the hiccup would occur during acceleration. on 6/20, the event occurred once more, but at low speed and during deceleration - 30-40 mph. i was able to restart the car twice and drive another half a mile to a parking spot. four hours later, i tried again. i was able to drive half a mile without incident, but needed to restart the car 5 to 7 times to reach a parking spot. the car was towed to a dealership where error code p2112 was produced. further investigation by the technicians suggested part ds70-9e926-d, all or part of the electronic throttle body. tsb 10-21-6 addresses a similar pair of parts in 7t4z-9e926-fa and 8s4z-9e926-b labeled "electronic throttle body" as well. the part is currently under back order with no eta on the back order. this appears to be indicative of a significant problem on a broad scale within the company's vehicles. the red mccombs dealership is currently taking the position that my car/car part is not covered under a warranty. i believe this is a serious safety concern that is the responsibility of fomoco and should be covered under warranty or taken care of by recall. *tr

The car has cut off in traffic numerous time and 3 close calls on accidents. throttle body was the problem.called ford and they gave me a case # and said that they couldnot help knowing that the have a problem. ford mechs that i have talk to have said that they have replace alot of the throttle bodys and for will not recognize the problem probably until someone gets killed or injured while the car has completely shut down running 60mph. *tr

Traveling on a road in orlando fl and lost speed and then eventually loosing power and had to drift off the side of the road. finally was able to start the car just to be able to get it back to my home. had to get the vehicle towed to the ford dealership and found that the throttle body had went bad. had to get it replaced. this is very dangerous when driving at a good speed and all of a sudden you loose power, thank god i didnt get in a accident. i see that there is a recall on this part with ford but my vin is not included. *js

I purchased a used 2010 ford fusion with 59674 miles on 4/4/13. on the drive home i experienced a lurching occasionally when accelerating from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gears. (it is an automatic transmission.) there were no warning lights lit. the lurching continued to get worse. it bucked and idled rough. it died sometimes (mostly while idling), leaving me blocking traffic, till i could put it in neutral and restart. the lurching was the most concerning, because the car became hard to control. i had to work hard to keep from getting in an accident. i found this site and others describing the throttle body problems and i recognized that was the exact problem i was having. i called two ford dealerships, both of whom said they couldn't get the throttle body because so many are failing that there is not enough supply. one dealer said that people were just bringing in their fusions and parking them at the lot until a throttle body was found. at the dealership, the clerk was on the phone with their parts department unhappy that she had to tell a another customer it would be 3-4 weeks before they would get a throttle body for their 2010 ford fusion (not mine). i begrudgingly i authorized the $95 diagnosis fee. i waited 3 hours. then she told me they said it was a faulty maf sensor and would cost $500. i remembered reading the complaints here that others were told the same thing, only to have the problem reoccur and then have to replace the throttle body. i chose not to have the work done and left an order in the parts department for a throttle body. from the moment i drove out of the dealership the car was working fine. i think they cleaned the throttle body. i will have my mechanic install a new $70 maf and wait for the throttle body to fail eventually, as i fully expect it to do. the dealers know this is a rampant problem. this needs a recall! *tr

After driving for ~20 minutes and the engine warming up, the engine will surge when coming to a complete stop after braking. there is also a smell of gas. immediately after refueling, the engine is difficult to start. once started it runs rough for a few seconds and wants to lurch away. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while accelerating from a light, the vehicle would accelerate beyond 2 mph. the contact felt the vehicle was not getting the proper flow of gasoline to the engine. the first time the failure occurred, the dealer rewired the engine but the repair did not correct the failure. the contact had not taken the vehicle back to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 60,000. *tr

***throttle body**** during several times of driving at low speeds, i accelerated and the rpm on the car jumped suddenly and stuck at a high position for several seconds in which the car slowed to a stop. the "wrench" light then came on and after turning the car off and on i was able to maintain use of it. this is happening frequently. *tr

Throttle body! i have been having issues for a while now. started with the check fuel inlet cap light coming on. fyi, i have not fuel cap for this car. had it checked, thought it was a sensor problem. then the check engine light came one. then the issues started taking place. had a few incidents where i would be going down the interstate at 70 miles per hour and the wrench light would come on in the car and it would completely lose any throttle control. i would have to pull over to side, car would still be running, but once stopped would shake and sputter, i would turn it off and then it would fire right back up. sometimes this would take place maybe 3 times back to back and then would not do it anymore. i kept being told, when it happens bring it in....that is easier said than done. it is happening more often and now at lower speeds and as of last week, as i was pulling out of my driveway. now it is parked, can't go 2 miles without it shutting off. i have found out that it is the throttle body and it seems that many other are having the same issues, yet this has not been recalled. ford is telling me the part is back ordered, and that i may have to wait a month for it to come in. i work and have two kids and now ford would like for me to wait to get it fixed. fyi.....a rental cal is about $700 for a month! unacceptable! and i owe too much on it to be worth my while to trade it in. frustrated beyond belief! *tr

I had come to a stop light and was turning right when the car went into limp mode. second time about two weeks later i was turning onto a entrance ramp to an interstate and was accelerating when it went into limp mode. it happened again two weeks later. about three weeks ago i was idling when the car totally cut off. i restarted it drove 5 miles and it went into limp mode when i was pulling into a parking lot. yesterday it happened when i was doing a steady 70 mph on the interstate. today when i was doing 65 mph on the interstate. each time, i pulled over, turned the ignition off and restarted the car which ran normally after that. *tr

Traded in our ford freestyle to purchase used 2010 fusion vehicle in september 2013 with 53,000 miles and a 30-day warranty. this was our third ford vehicle and we've enjoyed dependability, comfort and safe driving with our previous fords, so we saw no need in purchasing a warranty. one month later, we were struck by hurricane sandy. our honda crv-06 parked along side the fusion was nearly totaled by a downed tree but not a scratch to the fusion just few inches away. now, we wish that the fusion would have been in it' place. we noticed a rubbing right away to find our the stamford dealership sold us a car with summer tires and warped rims. december 2012, light came on which looked like a fuel cap. they told us it's a sensor and would cost $300.00 part is on back order. they reset light. *tr

Date and mileage of incident are guesses. has happened on multiple occasions. when driving vehicle on highway or local roads, engine stalls as if it had no power, however, the tachometer indicates engine still running. each time this occurs, vehicle has to be steered on to shoulder. when pulling onto shoulder, it vibrates tremendously. after it stops, you must put it into park, then restart the engine. brought vehicle to goodyear where it was identified as a p2111 fault. it was suggested that it be brought to a local ford dealer for servicing. brought to the local ford dealership a week ago. confirmed as p2111 fault. part had to be ordered which took approximately 6 days to receive. as of this complaint, still waiting on service to be completed. *tr

The vehicle stalled/lost power, while making a turn at 15-20 mph. i took it to dealership to have it checked. i was told that they couldn't find a problem. it happened a second time while trying to merge into a highway at about 40 mph. i called for a tow truck. while waiting i tried to start it after 15/20 minutes. it started, but waited for tow truck since i was afraid to get on the road. it was looked at again at the dealership repairshop and was told that the problem couldn't be found, but that perhaps the throttle system needed to be cleaned after 30,000 miles. this cost around $250. the problem happened a third time at about 10 miles per hour on may 17, 2013. this time the vehicle didn't start as in the past. had both engine light and wrench light. had to be towed. this time, the dealership repairshop, norris ford techs, said that it was definitely the throttle mechanism and that it had to be replaced. it was in the shop for three days since they had to order the part. despite this major repair, it happened again today, june 7, 2013. i had the cruise control set at 55mph. the car lost power, started shaking, and stalled. i've been luckily so far that noone has hit me from the back, but i'm very concerned and afraid that i decided to report it. this ford fusion problem needs to investigated. *tr

We had just bought our 2010 ford fusion 10 days prior to this incident. i had just picked up my children from school and when i was leaving the school parking lot i had too come to a complete stop (which is on a downward slope) when trying to accelerate the car lost all power and had shut off, i had no control of course and rolled right in front of an oncoming school bus that was in other lane. the bus had to come to a complete stop to avoid hitting us. it cranked right back up but seemed a little sluggish. my little girl was screaming for me to turn (which i was trying but could do nothing) she was very upset and crying. it never showed any sign of problems before hand. i contacted the dealer we purchased it from and they said they could do nothing it was not a ford dealer it was used when we bought it with 50000 miles. i contacted a ford dealership and they said unless it showed a sign they could do nothing i have tried other mechanics and nothing. we did have throttle body checked and it was fine. we have had several incidents of it shutting off with no warning and it is a regular basis it seems to not want to go when i press the accelerator.it seems slow to respond. the shutting off of the car only seems to happen when im trying to take off from a stopped position then it will die right after it starts going. this makes me very nervous and not want to go anywhere. we haven't had it long so we cant get rid of it due to the negative we have in the car and cant afford higher pmt. i will never go with ford again not saying that all are like this, but one bad apple can spoil them all for me. *tr

My wife was driving with my niece at approximately 45 mph, when the vehicle lost power and started to spit and sputter, then the "wrench" light illuminated as well as the check engine light. luckily she was able to pull off the road with no harm or damage, when i checked for a dtc it pointed to the throttle body, $200 dollars for the part, ford should have replaced this for me, especially since there is a tsb for this issue. *tr

While i was driving, the car would loose power. it would not die but would not have any acceleration. when i pulled off the road the idle would get very rough. i shut the car off and started it back up, then it would operate properly for awhile. then it would do the same thing at different times and different speeds. *tr

I was driving on the highway at normal speed when the car acted as if it was not getting fuel connection. the car then started a jerking motion and i had to steer it off the road in order to get it out of the way of on moving traffic. i had to put the car in park and start it back up. this has happened several times since the first incident. *tr

At highway speed, there was a controlled loss of power to the engine. upon shutting down and restarting, the problem cleared but recurred. the vehicle was serviced and the electronic throttle body was replaced. *jb

I was driving on the highway, and all of a sudden, my car slow down quickly and a light came on that looked like a wrench. i had to pull over quickly and try to restart the car, it restarted and i was on my way. this happened several other times and eventually, the vehicle would start, but wouldn't move. took the vehicle to the dealership, to be told i needed a new throttle body on a vehicle that was two years old. the warranty was up due to the mileage and the cost was around $600. this appears to be a known issue, but ford is not stepping up to the plate and covering the cost of the repair.

Driving in heavy traffic the car lost power going up a hill, as if the gas pedal had been disconnected. luckily i was able to avoid being hit and pulled out of the way. after a few minutes the car did start again but the shifting is strange and it dies a lot. i called ford dealership and they stated it was probably the throttle body as they had been replacing them left and right. this would not be covered by any warranty and would cost around $500. i then had a private mechanic look at it. he drove it around and the car died on him 3 times in this one trip. so after checking...he confirmed it is the throttle body but the part is on a national back order and would take up to 6 weeks. the manager of the service department at the ford dealership is very aware of the problem with the fusions and advised me to contact ford corporate. i did and their response to the problem was "we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.we highly recommend that your vehicle be inspected by your servicing ford dealership to determine the cause of any symptoms your vehicle may be experiencing. they have factory trained technicians, comprehensive service information and specialized equipment to help diagnose your vehicle." right, more money for them. someone needs to do something about this before someone gets hurt in an accident. ford needs to stand behind their product. it's obvious by the national back order that there is a problem somewhere. *tr

While driving on the interstate, the wrench light came on and the car became unresponsive to acceleration. i had to turn on the hazards and coast to the shoulder. the car was able to be restarted and drove fine for another 30 minutes before the same thing happened again. 2 days later the same thing happened on the interstate again, requiring me to coast to the shoulder of the road! today it happened while i was only going 45 mph and happened three times in 10 miles. when i got home i immediately began researching other ford fusion problems and found this to be a common occurrence. we tested the chip of the car and got a code of p2112, indicating the throttle body was malfunctioning. this comes behind an electrical problem requiring a new battery after 50,000 miles, a plastic piece breaking off the sunroof and needing to be replaced at 40,000 miles, and the sunglasses spring breaking at 35,000 miles! this is the second ford i have owned and we were thrilled with our ford five hundred, but the fusion seems to have more problems than it has good qualities! ford really needs to find a fix for their throttle problem before one of us is injured or killed while we coast to safety on the interstate in a malfunctioning car! *tr

I was sitting at a red light when the light turned green and i put on the gas the car jumped. the engine light came on. i pulled over to the side of the road. the car had no acceleration but still had power. i turned off the vehicle and turned it back on. the car started back up and the light went off. i took the car to a auto repair shop. the diagnostic test stated it is the throttle body going bad. the mechanic cleaned this part good and the sensors. the car has run fine for about three weeks with out any problems until 06/11/12 then it started again it has done it four times since and the engine light will not go off. i have used high test gas in it. *tr

I am guessing at the "component selection" above. i was driving 30 mph in a neighborhood; car pitched or lunged forward; wrench light came on panel; rpm's dropped; car slowed down and pressing gas pedal did no good; car was still running; car coasted to a stop. waited for help to come. restarted car, it went about 1/2 mile and did the same thing; took to dealership. they checked it out and could not replicate the problem and returned it to me; within ten minutes and 5 miles, it happened again in the same sequence as described above except i was going 50 mph on a busy hilly two lane state highway. took it back to dealership they said it was the throttle body or throttle rail. i am scared to drive it once, or if, it is repaired; still haven't received car back and parts on back order! internet search lead me to numerous occurrences exactly like mine and some were temporary fix that led to other problems with the throttle and transmission. *tr

I was driving down the highway at 70 mph when my car shut off i was almost hit by another car then a semi truck because i didn't know what had happened. my car had no throttle response. after having my car looked at it, it was diagnosed to have a bad throttle body. so i did some research and its a common thong with 2010 ford fusions, but for some reason ford won't either find a way to figure out why they seem to have throttle bodies that are malfunctioning and putting their drivers lives in danger. they need to recall this before it causes someone to lose their life. for people who don't know it cost about $500 to get it fixed if your vehicle isn't under warranty. *tr

I was driving my 2010 ford fusion through rush hour accident traffic. my car began to idle rough and lost power while on a bridge. i was unable to accelerate. i coasted off the bridge and to the emergency lane. i restarted my car and everything seemed okay. i got back into accident traffic. my fusion again began to idle rough. the rpm jumped, my car jerked forwarded and lost power again. i had my car towed to the body shop since it was clearly not safe to drive. the body shop ran tests and said the car was driving fine for them. since picking my car up, it has lost power four times in two days. three of the times happened while on a major interstate! not having the ability to accelerate on a major interstate is a disturbing feeling. my car is back in the shop since it is clearly not safe to drive on a consistent basis. this is not my first issue with the fusion's fuel system. this will be the last ford i own and can't wait to trade it in. *js

We bought our 2010 ford fusion used and the day we purchased the car we had a problem. the check engine light was on and when we asked the dealership we were told it was because they had just changed the oil and needed to reset the computer. we noticed that when we stopped the car would jump forward and stall. we called the dealership and were told to bring the car back and they would fix it and provide us with a loaner in the meantime. when i called back to schedule the service i was then told they would not fulfill there statement. we called, sent email and never received and response. i had pretty much given up on help until by mistake they had called us about our recent purchase and they had stated they had called the wrong person, i voiced my concern as the car had been getting worse and the stalling, especially when driving on the interstate was becoming more frequent and dangerous. we have had the car diagnosed, and some repair. we were recently informed that the problem in the throttle body which i have found out is on back order and was told the manufacturer is no longer making. i have found many complaints about the issue on the same make/model. this is a big safety hazard. unfortunately when you are a one car family you cannot just set your car aside and not go to work or other necessary places. i do not understand why after at least 2 yrs of complaints on this issue it has not been taken care of so far. someone will, if they have not already be seriously injured or killed due to this problem ford and others are definitely aware of this issue since it cannot be repaired due to no part. these cars need to be recalled immediately,

The vehicle lost power, the gas pedal had no effect, and it would surge forward by itself. created a very scary and unsafe situation for my wife. i went to the gas station where she had managed to get pulled into and shut it off, i looked it over and restarted it. it seemed to have power and throttle response, so i attempted to drive it on home since it was within a mile. it again failed on me within 100 yards but i was able to limp it on home. the dealership towed it into service and they thought the throttle body was bad...so they replaced it and now it is working. they said this is happening to a lot of throttle bodies! i am not sure why there isn't a recall or more investigations happening here. this was totally unexpected from a vehicle with only 11k miles on it. *tr

When i was driving my 2010 ford fusion the wrench light came on and the car lost all power and stalled out. luckily i wasn't in front of a truck or on the freeway. very scary my car only has 15391 miles on it. this car was also leaking oil. i am not happy with this car. when i took it to the dealer this problem didn't show up at first so the service person kept the car longer and finally it did the same thing and lost all power so they replaced the throttle body and replaced the the gasket that was leaking oil. also a few months earlier one of the coils went bad and had to be replaced. *tt

This has happened a number of times since it started a few months ago, but soon after starting and driving down the road, the fusion suddenly loses power, the wrench light comes on the dash, and the idle is very rough. there is no acceleration possible. we have to coast to a stop, turn off the engine, then restart the car. this seems to reset the problem and things get back to normal. we've had the dealer look at it twice now. they suspect a throttle body problem. fortunately for us, we are still under warranty, but it is very disconcerting and a bit dangerous for this to happen. one time i was driving on the highway around 60 mph and it happened. i had to coast to the emergency lane while multiple cars passed me and swerved around me. this problem occurred yesterday three times in one 30 minute period. the dealer said that ford has given them no help in solving the problem. we almost bought a toyota camry instead of the fusion. i guess we should have done that. *tr
