Problems with 2010 Ford Fusion FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

On average, the 2010 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE and its various aspects after 59 142 miles.

Recently reported FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

Car was idling in park. put car in drive, started moving forward slowly and the engine started to shake, lost throttle control, check engine and wrench lights illuminated. engine died within about 10 seconds. turned the ignition off and restarted the car. it ran normally for about 25 feet and exhibited the same symptoms as before. restarted the car again and was able to limp the car to a suitable parking space about 250 feet away. after sitting for a minute with the car off, i started it again and it ran normal for the rest of the day. i drove to the nearest autozone and had them scan the computer codes. found p2111 - throttle actuator control. *tr

Stopped at red light, light turns green i push the gas pedal and the car has no power- i moved to the side of the street and it crawled along an inch at a time until i could safely pull into a church yard and turn it off, i lifted the hood to check everything and decided to crank the car to see if i could hear anything and it ran fine and has been fine for the past three days. afraid to drive my car because of this. *tr

I was very worried when my car appeared to just turn off as i was slowing down from the interstate. i thought it was a fluke, bad connection and hoped it would never do it again. car did start back up with no issues, that day. unfortunately, it happened a lot on saturday 7/20/13. i parked the car and never drove it sunday. called ford first thing monday - 7/22/13 and they were too busy to help. i had to take my car to a non dealership and they confirmed it was the throttle body. i had previously researched and wrote down the codes that would possibly come up. as the other company stated this is a known issue, i thankfully have an extended warranty to cover cost but i was advised that this is around $1,000. ford is charging me my deductible for a known safely issue that has not been recalled? why? when? im hoping by adding to the list we can make sure they take care of their customers before they issue arises rather than after we are stuck on the side of the road. i've been without a car for 2 days and no concern of ford. i need a reliable car, as im still paying for it. all of the issues are exactly following these articles - http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/02/25/probe-ford-cars-suvs-stalling/1945799/ and http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/02/25/feds-probe-725000-limp-ford-mercury-vehicles-for-fault/ i've had horrible service from ford and would prefer a non partisan company to fix but i am forced to go back to them to take car of issue. *tr

As i was driving to pick my wife up from work. the car suddenly lost all throttle control. i was not able to get any throttle response. there was no warning that this was about to happen, the incident just happened without warning. since i was in the slow lane of traffic i was able to coast the car off the road. after a min. i was able to start the car and go another 2 miles when it happened again. the error code that came up was p2111. ford is lucky that no one has been hurt or killed as a car just stops working with no warning.what if i was making a left turn on a busy road when this happened? all power to no power in a blink of a eye. *tr

I was at a stop at a railroad crossing. upon applying the gas to go, i started to loose all power with the engine starting to shake, and the car seeming to stall, but limping along. nothing happened as i pressed the gas pedal. i was able to pull the car over to the side of the road in a parking lot. the dashboard had a wrench light on. the car in the engine area was still vibrating and shaking, with no power but to limp along. i turned the car off. waiting a few minutes and the car started up, but shaking an sputtering. i was able to drive the car to my job without any further problem. i called the ford dealer and make an appointment for the following monday. when going home, i drove at 30 miles per hour. the car lost all power two more times, stalling and limping along with the wrench lite on. i was able to get the car to the side of the road and it limped to my home. at this point, car was not safe to drive and the next day, aaa towed car from my driveway to ford dealer. i mentioned the throttle body problem and dealer told me it would have to happen when they test drive in order to have part changed. they did give me a loaner and reported to me that car stalled out and lost power on their test drive. throttle body part was changed and car has performed well since that time. $550 bill at ford. this car was a death trap to drive with the throttle body defect. *tr

While accelerating, cruising or at idle, the engine stalls then dies. when restarting engine stumbles badly and dies. this happens in traffic, accelerating into intersections, at highway speeds, etc. mil is now on constantly. vehicle is completely unusable because it is past the warranty period. we will be replacing the throttle body at our own expense, but would like ford to reimburse us. *tr

On more that one recent occasion while driving on local roads, the car's engine would start idling poorly, and the car would start coasting and not responding to the gas pedal. i would have to pull over, turn the car off, wait 30 seconds and restart the car. i took the car to my local ford dealer for repair on 7/24/13, and they replaced the throttle body to rectify this issue. from searching online, i found that this issue is very common, as many other ford fusion owners experienced this issue at around the 30-35k mile mark of ownership. from the invoice given to me by the dealer after the service, the error code with the throttle body was p2111, which is described at the following web page: http://www.ncconsumer.org/news%20articles/nccc%20petitions%20nhtsa%20for%20defect%20investigation%20into%20ford%20escape%20vehicles.html i was on a local road with no other cars around, but others described having the engine issue while driving at normal speeds on highways. this is a very dangerous position to be in, and if this is a common issue with ford vehicles, then it's highly possible someone could get seriously hurt or killed if the throttle body starts malfunctioning at the wrong place/time. thanks for your time, and please feel free to contact me if you need any further information. Four incidences since onset. when accelerating, at approximately 25 mph, the car appears to stall. a "wrench" (maintenance) light comes on. then, when pushing gas pedal, it appears as if the car does not receive fuel. pull to the side of the road, turn off and restart car and proceeds normally. *tr

Driving on 295 n bound at approximately 70 mph the engine just stalled...the little wrench light came on along with the engine light. i tried giving it gas but i could not get it to go so i had to fight the traffic to get over to the shoulder and shut it off. i attempted to start it and on the second try it did but felt like it was running on 2 cylinders.so i let it sputter along the shoulder to the exit where i shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes then tried it again, it started and i was able to get it to a advanced auto parts store where they plugged in the tester and got a throttle actuator error code.i got it started and it drove ok till i got home but haven't used it yet. this car did have a problem a few weeks ago but i thought it was just a glitch because it just ran rough and then went back to normal. now i'm reading about other fusions having the same problem. *tr

Throttle body quit working while driving at 65 mph. engine dropped to idle and would not respond to accelerator pedal. wrench light came on at instrument panel. coasted across 5 lanes of high speed traffic to reach the road shoulder. after turning off the car and turning it back on the throttle started working again. dealer says that there is a nationwide back order for the replacement throttle body to fix this problem but there is no recall active. *tr

While driving on city streets the gas pedal stopped responding. the car slowed and the engine surged. *tr

While driving my car lost all acceleration. the wrench light came on and the check engine light came on. i had to quickly pull over to avoid traffic coming up from behind me. i sat on the side of the road turned the car off and waited a couple of minutes before turning it back on. this reset the gauges and i could begin driving home (less than a mile away). on the way home it happened again. called my ford dealership, veterans ford in tampa, fl. i spoke with a service advisor named [xxx], who through my description of the symptoms said that it is the throttle body. they had just fixed three fusions that very day with the same problem. he said it is a know issue with the 2010 fusion model and they fix many of these. seems to me that ford should realize their is a wide spread issue with this part and it is unsafe. this should be a recalled part in my opinion as it is now going to cost me between 400-700 dollars to repair. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving on my way to work when my car lost power i pulled over turned the car off. upon restarting it the check engine light was on, i preceded to work. when i got off of work and went home the check engine light was off. a week later the symptoms happened again this time it was more then once. close to a total of 10 times in a one hour period. *tr

Lost power while driving on freeway. engine would only idle, very rough. wrench symbol lit. shut car off, opened/closed door and car was ok until next incident. failure occurred several more times while driving home on freeway and at slower speed. diagnostic at the dealer was a throttle body failure. *tr

Faulty throttle body has caused several engine stall events on and off highway. car in shop awaiting replacement part. ford service acknowledged that this is a well known defect without a recall yet announced. they advised not driving the car again until part is replaced as that would be "very dangerous." why would this not be a recall yet? *tr

Driving car approx. 50 to 60 miles an hour, engine just stops, no accelerator pedal pressure. wrench light comes on(ford owners manual shows it to be throttle body/drive-train). this has happened several times previous to yesterday's occurrence. we brought the car from drivetime and took it to their mechanic and he said he could not find a stored code, was i do not believe to be true. after searching online concerning some incident, we noticed that owners of the same model car have had the same problem. very dangerous while traveling and the car just quits. apparently ford knows about because a car a local dealer and the parts department has parts on back order. yesterday, 7/10 the check engine light came on and the code was p2112(throttle body stuck closed). something needs to be done about this problem. thanks for your time. *tr

While driving my 2010 ford fusion at around 25 mph, the vehicle stalled while in motion and i could not accelerate. the wrench warning light also came on. luckily, i managed to get my vehicle safely to the side of the road, and when i placed it in park, the car started to shudder. i turned the car off, and when i re-started it, the warning light was gone and the car was operating normally. i am very lucky that the stall did not occur on the highway at a faster speed. a co-worker of mine also has a 2010 ford fusion and had this same issue a few months ago. *tr

This has happened on multiple occasions. while driving down the road going approx 45 mph. suddenly the vehicle would lose throttle response and/or stall all together. on at least two occasions i have almost been rear-ended once almost by a semi-truck. i have done my research on the symptoms concerning my vehicle, and have found out that this is due to a failing throttle body. i have also found out that this has happened on quite a lot of ford fusions built at least between 2006 and 2011. i am quite surprised that ford has not issued a recall on these vehicles' parts, this is definitely a safety issue. *jb

Engine wrench light comes on, car will not maintain speed, engine drops to rough idle, accelerator is unresponsive. car must be stopped, with trans mission in park, turned off and restarted. it has done this 9 times in the last day and a half ... once while turning across traffic. this puts my life and passenger's lives at jeopardy. *tr

i was going down the freeway at approximately 65 mph, and out of nowhere my car lost power and began to decrease speed. i tried to press the accelerator and there was no response. i pulled to the side of the road and put the car in park and it was very rough idling. i turned off the car, waited a few seconds and turned the car back on and it seemed fine. now this has happened to me at least 20 times in the last few months, at random times and speeds. the scariest one for me was in a very busy intersection and my car did this 4 times trying to get through the intersection. i would really like to see this get fixed as soon as possible before someone really does get hurt. *tr

Car engine unexpectedly jerked and rpms locked at 1000 no matter what was done with gas pedal. did not recover until turned off and then on. repeated over the next several days. also engine would stall when trying to idle. resolution was replacement of faulty throttle body assembly. *tr

While driving in heavy traffic the car suddenly lost power, i pulled the car over to get out of the traffic. i came to a stop turned the engine off let it sit for approximately 10 minutes. i restarted the engine it seemed fine, i attempted to return home but experienced the same problem twice on my way home. i called the dealer to bring the car in regarding the problem. i described the problem to the service advisor, he seemed to know immediately what is causing the problem. $575.00 later i'm back on the road. less than 4,000 out of warranty and this happens, it seems a common occurrence with other fusions. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that he noticed a leak underneath the rear end of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the fuel tank was corroded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the failure mileage was 140,000. updated 04/22/14 ma updated 04/24/14

I was making a turn into a mall when my car's accelerator quit working. i let off and pressed the accelerator and still nothing. i had to coast over to the side of the road and turn my car off. i left it off for a minute and restarted. it worked fine after the restart. a few miles later i had the same problem on the interstate at 60 mph. i did the same procedure as before and again, my car ran fine. a few minutes later i was pulling into a church parking lot and the same thing happened again. i decided to just go back home before i had serious problems at night. a few miles further the same thing happened while trying to accelerate after stopping at a traffic light. i had a parts store hook up a diagnostics machine and got a "throttle actuator control system stuck open" code. i began to google this and found that there have been multiple complaints about fords doing this, yet ford has not issued a recall. needless to say, i am a bit furious that they would know there is a potentially deadly problem with their vehicles and they won't issue a recall to fix this. *tr

After driving over 50 miles, my car stalled and the wrench light came on. i pulled over and let it idle, but it ran rough. once i turned it off and then back on, it ran okay. it stalled again later in that same trip. then it stalled again twice on my way home. luckily, i was on a non busy road with a shoulder. then it seemed to run fine for a few days, but after driving over 50 miles, it happened again. i was nervous because once it stalled as i was turning onto a road without a shoulder. i was concerned that a car would come over the hill and hit me while i was turning it off and restarting it. when i took it to the dealer, i was told that the problem was with the throttle body. when they ordered the part, initially, i was told the part was on backorder and wouldn't be in until mid-august. obviously, there is a major problem with this part when it takes so long to get the part. totally unacceptable to wait that long for a part. now today, my sister-in-law, who also has a 2010 fusion started having the same problem and she has a lot less miles on her car (about 40,000). reading all of the issue others are having with this part on the internet, i feel that there should be a recall on this part and my replacement should be covered. *tr

I was accelerating from a traffic light when all of a sudden i had no response from my gas pedal and my check engine light came on. i was able to coast until i could pull over out of the way of traffic. i turned the car off and back on. the check engine light turned off, so i thought maybe i'm okay. but, once i got up to speed again, the same thing happened. i was able to get my car back home by driving on back streets at 25 mph. using my odb-ii reader, i retrieved code p2112 from my car. this points to the throttle body assembly. *tr

Car went into limp mode (all electric functions on and car running, but no acceleration) as i exited the freeway. car began shaking when stopped in parking lot off of road. i turned the car off, and restarted about 5 minutes later. car did the same thing when attempting to reach 30-35 mph. pulled into apartment complex, waited, and restarted. care failed two more times within a 3 mile distance, and was restarted. wrench light vanished after restart, but engine light now remains on. reporting due to ongoing investigation with throttle bodies for ford vehicles. researched this issue online. *tr

We lost all acceleration while pulling out of the store parking lot. we turned off the car, started it up again and it did the same thing while turning left into our neighborhood. luckily no traffic behind or oncoming while making these left turns. we got it to the dealer and they said it was the throttle body, not under warranty, not on recall, advised against driving our car, did not have a car for us to drive, would not pay for a rental, and the part was on nationwide back order for a month! we called ford customer service told them our situation (my wife is six months pregnant without a vehicle for a month). they agreed to pay for a rental car and put us on an expedited list. however, we have yet to hear when that part is coming in. *tr

While driving at 45mph the car jerked and lost thrust. the wrench light came on and i coasted as far as i could get. the engine did not seem to be running so i turned the key off and waited 20 seconds or so and attempted to start the vehicle. the car cranked many times but then started back up and was fine for the next 5 days. the first time this happened i brought the car to the ford dealer and was told that they needed to check it out. two days later they still had not looked at it so i took the car back. 5 days later it happened again but i came to a stop just around a corner and was concerned about being rear ended. i brought the car back to the dealer a second time and this time they looked at it. they said that the throttle body had to be replaced and that i was lucky that they had just received a shipment that day. the service associate said that this is a common problem and that these throttle bodies have been on back order for weeks. i had to pay for the diagnosis but it seems that this service should be done as a recall since there are so many problems. this is also a safety problem. *tr

I was going to a friends house. my car would not accelerate. the wrench light came on. if i pressed on the gas pedal the tact would move up but the car wouldn't. it was shaking. it was towed to the dealership and the throttle body was changed. apparently the throttle body is a defective part that needs to be recalled. the dealer said that the part was on back order. then later that day he got 8 new throttle bodies in. seems like a problem if a little dealer like the one i go to has to have 8 throttle bodies in stock at a time. prior to this i know realize my car had an issue from the beginning. when i would be traveling with the cruise control on going down hill, my car would down shift hard and the tact would go up very high. i would have to take off the cruise control. also, when i put my car in drive or reverse from parked it would jump into gear. it has done this again since i had the throttle body changed. this is very upsetting. i've driven fords all my life and career with ford. i believe this is a terrible accident waiting to happen. i've read of a lot of owners of 2010 fusion having the same problem when going 60-75 mph on a highway. scary. also, it seems the same problem has been reported in other makes of ford vehicles. *tr

As i was driving to the store my car stalled, there was a complete loss of power. a wrench symbol appeared as well as the check engine light. after restarting the vehicle i was able to move another 200 feet before it happened again, repeatedly i would need to put it in park, shut off the vehicle and begin again. this has happened about 10 times since last night. i am not unable to safely travel to work or any other location due to this situation. *tr

Driving car down the street and it went into idle mode. had to pull off street. car had no power. turned car off and waited a couple of minutes and restarted. ran fine for a while after that. the failure happened more frequently as time went by. had throttle body replaced on july 18. car has ran fine since then. *tr

Car stalls while driving at any speed. *tr

While getting onto the interstate the accelerator failed the wrench light came on i pulled to the side of the road shut the car off restarted it drove another 10 miles and again same issue restarted and drove less than 5 miles and again restart drive less than 1 mile and yet again i called three different ford dealerships and none of them have the part to even think about fixing this problem this needs to be recalled asap as some people don't have $400-$700 including myself to say ok ford here is my car fix it while waiting a week to a month for it. *tr

While driving on a highway at about 45 mph the gas pedal stopped working. the car engine remained running but would not respond to the pedal. the car slowed and luckily could be pulled to the side of the road. when the car slowed to a stop it started bucking. after turning the engine off, the car was able to be restarted and ran ok for the rest of the trip to work. the car had the same failure on the way home from work and on the way to the dealership the next morning. the deal service has diagnosed the problem as a bad throttle body and that the part was on back order. *tr

***** bad throttle body******** my wife and son was driving and the car just shut off going through a interaction a car almost hit them to the rapid loss of speed. this is not the first time. when this happens you have no power and very little control of the car. this has happen about four times now. looks like ford is doing nothing about this and after this did it on me today 6/27/13 someone is going to get killed in a accident or hurt real bad. from looking at all the reviews this is a defect in the throttle body. this should be on a recall list before someone is hurt or worst. please help us get this on a recall list. thank you. *tr

The car's throttle-body failed instantly, and without warning while it was being driven on a major secondary road. the failure resulted in a complete loss of power and required immediate emergency action to get off the two travel lanes (during rush-hour in northern virginia), and nearly resulting in an accident. i was only 1/4 mile from entering interstate 66, which did not have a safe shoulder during the time of the failure, and which would have resulted in a much more dangerous situation. *tr

Car was stopped at stop light. when light turned green, the car would not accelerate , but only creep along. fortunately, there was a parking lot just across the intersection where car was stopped. towed to dealer where they told us it needed a new electronic throttle. *tr

Driving down interstate at 70 miles per hour in far left lane when vehicle unexpectedly loses power. accelerator pedal completely unresponsive, and engine speed drops to approximately 800 rpm. i had to quickly maneuver across two lanes, which were occupied by tractor trailers to get to right shoulder. came extremely close to having a major accident during heavy traffic which would have certainly involved 15-20 vehicles due to sudden onset and heavy traffic. vehicle idled extremely rough upon stop. vehicle would restart and operate normally for an unknown amount of time, then the same issue would happen again. this appears to be a very common problem for ford fusions built prior to late 2011 and ford escapes. this is a very dangerous malfunction, and a recall should absolutely be issued. online research has a consensus that the problem is a bad throttle body. there are hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands, of the exact same problem from these vehicles. i have been very satisfied with this vehicle until this point. *tr

I was driving in heavy city traffic at approximately 55 miles per hour, when the car suddenly lost all power. the engine felt "disconnected" from the transmission. i could push the gas pedal all i wanted, but there was no response from the engine. the car continued to roll under it's own momentum, but because of the sudden loss of power, i was very nearly rear-ended by the car behind me. i was in the left lane, and because i was coasting down to a stop quickly, my only choice was to pull into the center turn lane of the 5-lane road. traffic continued to speed past me as i stopped in the center lane. as i stopped, the engine ran incredibly roughly. it was stumbling and missing like it wasn't getting enough air. there was a yellow wrench icon on my dashboard, but no "check engine light". i shut down, waited a minute, and refired the car. the car ran perfectly smoothly after that. i did some checking, and it appears to be a throttle body problem. it appears to be very widespread on 2010 and 2011 ford's. please make them recall this. it's a huge safety concern. i'm lucky it was just me in the car, and i knew what to do. what if my wife and baby were in the car, and she wasn't as lucky? what if the guy behind me wasn't as quick on his brakes?? *tr

June 22nd driving with my family to church along major highway at a rate of 60-62 mph the vehicle just went limp and i was barely able to pull the car over into the emergency lane. the car behind slammed its brake and horn. wrench light came on. i turned off car ignition and waited a couple of minutes. needed time to compose myself after almost being struck from behind. started the vehicle and wrench light was off. placed my emergency flashers on and drove very slowly off the next highway exit. left car in commuter lot and called my wife to pick me up in the dependable honda. this vehicle has placed my family's lives in a unsafe position. i will never trust driving it. *tr

Cruise control on 65mph@2000rpm with no input from driver, rpm suddenly jumps to 3500 no speed change, loss of power or jerking of car. turn off cruise control, rpm drops to 2000 smoothly, all seems fine. turn on cruise control again, rpm jumps immediately to 2700, again smoothly. turn off cruise control, rpm drops again to 2000. drive home w/o cruise control no problem. on trip to dealer for diagnosis the wrench icon appears on dash when the accelerator becomes suddenly completely unresponsive. motor runs smoothly but doesn't react to accelerator. pull over, turn off motor, wait 1-2 min. wrench icon is gone, all seems okay, drove on to dealer. *tr

My wife was driving the car and it lost power and as she described "it started to buck". there was little response and the orange wrench light came on. she turned off the car and started it back up. the car was fine and a couple miles down the road the check engine light came on and it did it again. she turned the car off and started it again. she was able to get it home. i looked at it the following day and contacted my local ford dealer. speaking to a technician, he told me a diagnostic probably wouldn't bring anything up since the lights were now off and the computer had reset itself. on sunday june 30th, 2013, i was driving approximately 55 mph when i pressed the accelerator to switch lanes and there was no response from the engine. the orange wrench light came on and my wife told me that that's exactly what had happened to her. fortunately, there was little traffic and i was able to coast to a nearby parking lot. i turned the car off and let it sit for about 5 minutes. when i started it back up, it idled rough and quickly smoothed out. it sounds like there are many similar issues with the throttle body on this vehicle. i stopped reading after 55 reports all listing the same issue. a recall should be placed on this part since it causes a high hazard/major safety issue. *tr

No acceleration. gas peddle fully used caused no acceleration. the car shuttered and rpm's were sporadic. the vehicle had to be placed in park to turn off engine. after multiple failed starts, the car started, but would not stay on. was able to finally get the car started, but had no acceleration. after a few stops and starts of the engine, was able to accelerate. at 3 more stops, the car stalled and required multiple attempts before the engine would remain started. i am aware this is a common problem with my model of car. *tr

The first time the problem occurred i was a 4 lane with the cruise set a 65. the car lost all power and at the same time! the wrench light came on. i braked the car and pulled over off the road, the cars engine was running extremely rough so i turned of the ignition. after waiting a few minutes restarted the car got back to speed and the same thing happened- lucky for me no traffic around at the time. the forth try the car ran fine the rest of the 6 miles left to work. that night going home from work- same thing- loss of all power and wrench light- made it off the road again safely. restarted the car and it ran fine- about 3 miles to home. over the next few days it did the same thing several more times then ran fine for about a week. turns out that was just the start of the fun! : [ now it started losing power at busy intersections in town, as i was pulling into traffic on a 4 lane that traffic was moving 55mph. *tr

Driving at highway speeds or even at lower speed (can happen at any time), feel a shudder and have no throttle response. very very dangerous when in traffic!!!!!! a wrench light illuminated on the dash. only coasting, i was able to move the car to the side of the road and put it in park. car had a very shaky idle, like it was about to stall. i turned off the ignition and waited for about 1 min, then started vehicle back up., but once it was back on it seemed fine. was able to continue driving to my destination without further incident. thought it was bad gas. 1 month or 2 later after first incident, same event occurred again, multiple times. i was going to my sons baseball tournament and missed first inning cause of this safety issue. since ford dealer would not get it in quickly and did not tell me this was a wide spread problem, i took to advance auto and ran the obdii scan tool. what do you know fault p2111 and p2112. call ford dealer back and part is on backorder. 7 people ahead of me for same issue. went on internet. this is a wide spread problem and a safety issue all the way. someone needs to get this recalled before someone gets hurt!!!!! someone is going to get hit or cause an accident and people will get hurt. ridiculous. ford get your act together and do the right thing. *tr

Driving down the highway i lost the ability to accelerate, and the car went to a quick decelerate. luckily there was not much traffic, and i was able to safely pull to the side of the road. the car almost stalled once i got completely stopped. i turned the car off for about 30 seconds, and restarted it. it started up a little slow, but was quick to go back to normal. this was on tuesday morning. on friday afternoon the same symptoms (no acceleration, and a quick deceleration) but this time i was traveling approximately 60 mph in heavier traffic. i was in the left lane, and my only option was to pull off to the left, because i was not traveling fast enough to try and get through the traffic to the right. turned it off, about a minute later i started it again, and i went on my way. then this morning (06/25/13) it happened 2 times on my way to work. i have been driving in the right lane, just in case it happened again, and it is a good thing i did. i consider this to be a safety hazard, as traveling at high speeds, and not being able to safely get pulled over presents a lot of danger for myself and other drivers. i took my car to the repair shop to have them look at the code, and they told me it points to a throttle body issue. after reading numerous reports of similar situations and symptoms, i think this is something that needs to be addressed. *tr

Vehicle suddenly lost power and both the check engine and mechanic wrench light came on. i turned the vehicle off and back on and started to go again. if i tried to moderately accelerate my ford fusion would lose power again. when the vehicle would lose power it would begin to vibrate roughly when low idling. i use a code checker and pulled a p2111 code which states that the throttle body was stuck open. this occurred 4 more times along the trip back home. *tr

This is a complaint for an issue that has an existing preliminary evaluation - nhtsa pe13003. i purchased a 2010 ford fusion sel in july 2010. it was purchased new. in may of 2013, while driving on city streets with my 3 year old daughter, my vehicle appeared to stall as i was turning at a traffic light. while the vehicle was still powered, my ability to control the vehicle or accelerate to speeds over 5 mph was instantly removed. i was able to limp to the side of the road and restart the car, which drove normally until the next day when i was driving across town to meet the person providing me a ride to and from the ford dealership. over the course of an hour, my vehicle exhibited the same symptoms 4 separate times while trying to get to a ford dealership. the dealership reported to me the next ay that i would have to have the throttle body replaced, at a cost of $486. none of the cost would be covered under warranty, and that i would be advised to have the work done immediately as the necessary replacement part was in shortage nationwide, and the dealership only had 1 on hand. i had the part replaced, and the vehicle has functioned normally since. *tr

Driving at highway speeds when i felt a shudder and realized i was losing forward momentum. rpms dropped and the engine did not respond to stepping on the gas pedal. a wrench light illuminated on the dash. only coasting, i was able to move the car to the side of the road and put it in park. car had a very shaky idle, like it was about to stall. i turned off the ignition and waited for about 1 min, then tried to turn the car back on. car took longer than usual to turn back on, but once it was back on it seemed fine. was able to continue driving it to my destination without further incident. five days after first incident, same even occurred again, with turning the car off and on seeming to correct the problem for the time. no electrical, braking, or power-steering power was lost. *tr
