2008 ford fusion purchased from car max. lip of dash that surrounds the front of the air bag cover has peeled outward and appears ready the blow. surely this is an oversight or project design failure from ford. *tr

My 2008 ford fusion purchased brand new also has the bulging dashboard on the front passenger side. it not only looks bad but who knows if the air bag will even deploy in a front end crash? *tr
As numerous others have complained, my vehicle suffers from the faulty hcu causing the brake pedal to go to the floor during certain abs evens, as well as a mushy pedal at all other times. ford needs to acknowledge and fix this issue.
Where my dashboard airbag is on the passengers side is it is bulging(seeing foam currently). *tr
The passenger side air bag, the dash that covers it is opening up. for a car this car that is from 2008 should not be happening . for the dash to becoming up like that to where you can see the air bag is really bad. what happens if the air bag goes off and gets suck on the tip of the open dash someone could get really hurt or even die. i did take it to the ford company and they said that i would have to pay close to 1,000 dollars to get it fix and that it would not count as a recall. i have not got it fix and i am hoping that it does not get worse as time goes on.
Tl* takata recall.the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v046000 (air bags); however the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair as the recall notice was received over a year ago. the dealer koons ford of annapolis (2540 riva road, annapolis, md 21401 (888)-250-9459) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. the manufacturer was contacted several times and were unable to confirm when the parts were to become available. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.
The passenger side area around the airbag is compromised and it looks like the airbag will pop.
I am the original buyer of a 2008 ford fusion se - which i purchased in 2008 - it now appears that there is a bulging near the passenger air bag area on my car's dashboard. this appears to be a manufacturing defect since the car has never been in any type of accident. ford refuses to fix since car is no longer under warranty. i looked on line at it appears many other ford fusion owners are experiencing the same issue with the bulging dashboard. i am afraid this could lead to a deployment of the airbag. ford will have dashboard fixed for over $1,200.00 at my cost. how is this fair that i must pay for a manufacturing issue the ford corporation created. can you assist in any manner. *tr
Takata recall
2008 ford fusion sel awd: the dashboard cover is peeling up in front of the passenger side airbag. this has the potential to be a serious safety problem and is continuing to get worse as time passes. the vinyl cover appears to be delaminating from the foam rubber beneath it and could interfere with the proper deployment of the passenger side airbag in the event of a crash. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph and approaching a traffic stop, another vehicle suddenly crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. the contact's vehicle was pushed forward and into the preceding vehicle with excessive force. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact and front seat passenger sustained bruises to the body. the grill, hood and entire front end of the vehicle were severely damaged. a police report was filed of the incident. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the manufacturer was not notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 73,000. the vin was not available.
Dashboard peeling back in front of passenger side airbag. very common issue for 2006-2009 fusions which ford refuses to acknowledge as a safety issue or offer repair without significant cost to owner. dashboard peels back and bubbles in front of where passenger airbag deploys and may cause interference with airbag operation. this is not an isolated incident or result of improper care by owners, the problem is too widespread. this should be a recalled item or fix.
Passenger side airbag compartment on the dashboard is bulking at any given time the air bag may deploy. *tr
The dashboard right by the passenger airbag is warping. the ford dealer wants $1000 to replace it on a car that is 6 years old when it should not be warping already. i believe this is a safety concern to airbag potentially not deploying correctly. *tr
In the summer of 2013 i noticed that the passenger dash was coming undone (separating from the dash and sticking up) in front of the airbag of my 2008 ford fusion. the dash is now curled up so much that i fear that it may interfere with the deployment of the passenger airbag. at the time of this complaint, there are no known statements regarding the foam vinyl separating from the dash. i would like to know if any research has been conducted to ensure that this does not affect the deployment of the passenger airbag. *tr
Takata recall - i purchased a 2008 ford fusion in 2010 with only 19,000 miles. during the month of july 2013, it was a very hot summer day, 90 degrees and my car windows were shut tight. my car sat in the parking lot during working hours at least 9 hours. at this time, i had 33,000 miles on this car and my first ford vehicle purchased. i entered inside, i noticed on the instrument panel on the front passenger side the air bag had popped up along the perimeter. i was able to see the foam material underneath the airbag. immediately, i was concerned and notified the hq ford motor company. i request to be transferred to the recall department. i asked if they had any complaints or recalls on the ford fusion front passenger airbag. her response was "no". i informed her of the occurrence in detail and felt action must be taken immediately. i requested to please note this in file for any future calls. i had offered to send a picture of it but i was told it was not necessary. i politely asked what my options were and what steps are needed. she replied, it was not ford's responsibility and recommend i drive my vehicle to the nearest dealership. i expressed how imperative it was to forward this information. i took my vehicle to the nearest dealership, explained the safety issue and it must be taken care of immediately. i was told it was not their responsibility, the cost would be $2,500.00 out of my pocket. i was shocked! i left the dealership unhappy and disappointed. it is now 2016, i have 72,000 on my vehicle, the problem remains the same. it has not been repaired, i refuse to pay. i never received any notice in the mail. i am very disturbed by this. as it stands, there is a recall on the front passenger ip but unable to repair due to part not available? i would appreciate if someone can please help and assist me. thank you! *tr

Dashboard warped over passenger side airbag partially blocking airbag cover. fear it might affect airbag deployment on passenger side. *tr
Passenger airbag is about to explode took it to dealer and they said that needs to be replaced immediately but it will cost me over $1,500.00 to do it. i've read online reviews and i'm seeing a lot of other customers complaining about same thing. hopefully you guys can do something about it before it gets to late. desperate consumer.
I noticed the dash board around the airbag is separating about 2 months ago i tried to push the seam back down but it still puckers. yesterday i tried to start my car and there was a continuous clicking sound coming from the dashboard and the security lock light and airbag light were flashing very fast. i just parked the car about 1 hour before and there was no problems until i came back to start it. i tried for about 1 hour but could not get it started. i have noticed there are a lot of complaints on this car and the same issues. this does seem like a recall issue. i wanted to support american made products from one of the oldest american auto makers. i am hoping you can fix this issue because i need to get the work and this is my only transportation. i live in an area where there is no public transportation. thanking you in advance. *tr
I am the original purchaser of a 2008 for fusion. the dashboard around the passenger side airbag has been peeling up and presenting possible airbag malfunction risks/aesthetics problem for around a year now. i have taken it to the dealership i purchased it at and been told it is not covered under the extended warranty i have, no action was taken to repair the defect. *tr
The air bag compartment on the passenger side has come away from the seam and is bubbeling. now their is a powder substance that's brown that is coming out of their as if the balloon is drying up. alamogordo is a hot area where temps range from 90-100 degrees. the car has not been in an accident and nothing has hit the dashboard to cause it to bubble or the seems come attached. it just started gradually happening. i am aftraid that if i get in an accident the air bag will not deploy, or that it will deploy for no reason, as it seems very unstable. i have seen other fusions with the same issue. i have attached picture from different angles for you to see
Dash board around passenger air bag bubbling out, lifting up, air bag light stays on in car. worried air bag might deploy when it's not suppose to or not deploy when i need it to. *tr
I've recently noticed my passenger air bag cover is starting to separate from it's adhesive. this is an alarming safety issue for me as well as any passenger that maybe sitting in the front seat. my vehicle is a 2008 ford fusion. when i purchased the car there were noticeable issue. my concern is if on the off chance there is an accident will be passenger be safe and will front passenger air bag to deploy. *tr
I have seen many complaints about the dash popping up around the passenger airbag. i have been having the same problem. what i want to know is why nothing is being done about it? my car is a 2008 i've had it for 8 months and about a month ago this starting happening. this is a manufacturers defect not wear & tear. *tr
Takata recall. the airbag light continues to stay on, every once in a wail the light go off for a day or so but comes back on. when i make a turn, as i apply the brakes the car seems to slide.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford fusion. the contact stated that the passenger side air bag casing lifted and was separating from the dashboard without warning. the vehicle was taken to three independent mechanics, but was not diagnosed or repaired. while driving approximately 60 mph with the cruise control engaged, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle lunged forward. the speed increased to 70 mph without warning. the failure recurred on three other occasions. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or diagnosed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000. the vin was unavailable. updated 09/03/15*lj updated 10/26/2017*cn
I had noticed a few weeks ago my passenger air bag cover is starting to separate from it's adhesive. this is a major safety issue for me and any passenger that sit in the front seat. this has got worse over time and i purchased the vehicle roughly a little under a year ago. at that time the car was not in that condition. no one sits with their feet on the dash and i have a visor. i could be hit at a slow speed which would not warrant my bags to deploy but could, and this would cause my other front air bag to deploy as well. there are tons of complaints about the air bags not being deployed when it should. there are a few complaints about it separating. the manufacture should step in. car is barely 5 years old with me being the 3rd owner. issue should not be happening. *tr
Buckling, distortion and or warping of dash panel in front of passenger airbag aperture. there is concern that this distortion will negatively impact airbag deployment causing injury to right front seat occupant. this seems inherent in most of this model. will also reduce resale valve. i believe this issue is a defect in material or workmanship and should be covered by a safety recall. *tr
Pass airbag coming out of dash. *tr
There is a bulge along the trim near the front passenger side air bag panel. the trim of the dashboard has become separated from the air bag panel exposing a gap. this would definitely be a safety issue if the airbag would/should deploy. dealership says there is nothing they can do because it isn't covered under warranty.
2 yrs the passenger side air bag is bugling, i called the ford motor customer service and was told there was no warranty or recall for this, i called the local dealership and was told $1000.00 - $ 1500.00 to repair, now this is a defect on the company, now if the airbag is deployed and my 92 grandmother is sitting there , she is going to be bruised, what if my mother @ 73 is sitting there and we can't avoid a pothole and it's deployed, what if the sun ( which is an act of god) continue to span out the dashboard, my insurance will not pay for ford motor co defect... the consumer is responsible per customer service, i was told to save my receipt and could be reimbursed (could be) seem to be no one is reading this complaint and hold ford liable for would could be prevented... injury, medical bills, missed work, suffering, possible death, why wait!! *tr
Takata recall - none of the ford dealers that i've contacted have any solutions to this problem... they say their parts department can not order replacement air bags for my car :-( the dashboard on the passenger side of my car is warping! i guess ford is okay with the fact that hundreds if not thousands of people are driving around ford cars & trucks with takata airbags that could send glass shards in to the passenger cabin on impact! totally unacceptable and extremely disappointing.... i've received so many notices from ford but never any solutions!
We have had some colder than usual days and when i start my car, the air bag light stays on. once i get to my destination and shut the engine off and restart it, the light goes off. *tr
The dashboard above the passenger air bag has buckeled and will not return to the original position. you can see the foam inside. i called the local dealer and was told it was not a safety issue and it has not been fixed. i had thought due to the hot weather it had buckeled and it was a rare case but as i am reading this is a common issue for ford with the 08 fusion. hoping with more complaints this will be fixed. *js
Noticed passenger dash upholstery, in front of passenger air bag was buckled, and popping up. two different ford service managers advised that this was a manufacturing defect and that the air bag might not deploy properly due to the dash protruding. they both took photos and ford refused to address because my vehicle is out of warranty, by years. i only have approx. 34,000 miles. i feel that this is also a safety defect, if my air bag operation might be affected. i was advised that the entire dash needs to be replaced and it is approx a $1,000 repair. *tr
A few years back i got into my 2008 ford fusion and i remember it being a very hot summer day. i looked over at my passenger side air bag/dash board area and part of the dash where the seam is, was sticking out. i was able to push it back in right away but now i can't. the dash above where the air bag is just always sticks out now. i figured since it was so hot that day that's why it happened. i still have never been able to get it fixed and it doesn't seem safe to me. i've looked on numerous websites and have read that many other people with the same car and year have had this issue. *tr
Dashboard has pulled up around passenger airbag. i am just getting around to reporting this, but i see many other complaints on this issue that should be something ford recalls and fix due to a safety hazard. bulged around airbag as well.
I am the original purchaser of a 2008 ford fusion with a problem with the passenger side dash buckling at the bottom of where the airbag is . this causes me concern about the airbag deploying at any time even if it is not in an accident or if needed to deploy and it fails to do so . help !!! i am not the only ford owner with this issue .the problem first began being noticeable in 2012 and has progressively gotten worse.
