We have classified the 56 complaints from 2007 Ford Fusion about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
My car stopped shifting gears on me and the warning light did not come on i took it to different mechanics and they said my transmission was going out and my car is to new for the transmission to be going out. *tr
At approx. 85k miles on my 2007 ford fusion, there was a noticeable issue in the front end. thought it may have been some slight damage to the front a end a while back and had a half axle replaced at 88k miles. no change since and have had many components looked at. today, ford tells me there are several codes in the computer related to transmission problems. no indicator light has ever come on to let me know i have been driving with a bad transmission. many people on the ford fusion forum (fordfusion.net) had reported the same issue in models from 2006 through 2010. ford bares responsibility for this issue and have swept it under the rug. letting people drive around with a bad transmission, the computer never letting people know an issue exists is serious problem and safety issue.. last time i ever buy american. *tr
Se v6 transmission. when pulling into a driveway to get rid of a tailgater in the city, i brought the car to a complete stop, then shifted the car into reverse after the other car had passed. i took my foot off the brake and put it on the accelerator, but got no response from the vehicle. i thought it had obeyed my command and shifted into reverse before i released the brake. the vehicle rolled backwards for about three seconds before the transmission actually shifted into reverse. this resulted in a loud bang since the car was already moving backwards at a couple miles per hour. this could have resulted in transmission damage. *tr
Drive shaft carrier bearings went out. common problem with this type of vehicle. have to replace drive shaft entirely! cost of about 900 dollars. *tr
I have owned my ford fusion sel v6 since june of 2009. in may of 2011 my ac went out within minutes of being used. i had stopped at my house for a minute in between errands and the ac worked when i turned the car off. when i got back in to leave again the ac would not work. a few weeks after that, my driver side inside door handle broke and i am no longer able to open the door from the inside. now in may 2013, my passenger side door handle is broken the same as the driver side and the two back door locks have to be locked from inside because they don't work from the remote. i have also been experiencing a loud humming sound that sounds like the tires. however, after having the car looked at, i have been told that it is a problem with my transmission (not my tires at all) i see here where many of these issues have been reported but nothing is being done about any of these issues by ford. this is the first ford i have owned and it is going to be the last. i am looking at getting a different car asap. *tr
I have a 2007 ford fusion se awd which i purchased new from ford. the problem started with he transfer case which went and had to be replaced because it was out of the 3 year 36k warranty. the next problem is the drive shaft now has to be replaced. i was told by the dealer that the sealed bearing are gone. i have never heard of a drive shaft failure but as i search the internet i see that both the transfer case and drive shaft appear to be an inherent problem with all of the awd fusions. *tr
I have an 07 ford fusion, i am the original owner and bought the car with zero miles in 06. recently my transmission started slipping and i noticed that the rpm's go up so high then you feel like an impact which is when the car changes gears. i almost got rear-ended due to this problem. after doing some research online i have noticed that many ford owners have the same problem. i have called ford and they say my car is out of warranty so their is nothing they could do. i also think this problem is causing my back to hurt i noticed that after this occurs with my car i get pain in my back like if it was whip lash. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 ford fusion. the contact was driving 35 mph when the automatic transmission exhibited an unusual noise and then kicked into gear, causing the vehicle to independently decelerate. the contact was unable to get the vehicle back into gear and the power train warning light was illuminated. the vehicle was towed to a local mechanic shop who advised the contact that the transmission control valve body had worn out and the transmission would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact to have an authorized dealer repair the transmission at the contact's expense. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 80,000.
On october 1, 2010 i was driving my 2007 ford fusion that i bought new in november 2007. when i came to a stop sign and tried to take off the transmission light and the wrench light came on. from then on the these lights always appear while driving. also, the messaging center reads "odometer data error" and the speedometer is no long functioning properly. the car do not shift properly. the rpm was very high every time that the car try to change gears. i took the car to the dealership were i purchased it on numerous occasions before this happened because the car would stale when taken off and sometimes it would just shut down. every time i took it back i was told that there weren't anything wrong with the car. now that the warranty is expired i was then told that the transmission speed sensor and the main wire component needed to be replaced. *tr
Took 2007 ford fusion in under warranty three times stating it was shifting hard, rpms were high and that felt there was a problem with the transmission. after being dismissed each time the warranty lapsed and the car lost the transmission in the middle of the freeway. as this was a reported problem on my service records, tried to get ford to cover their product and show customer loyalty with no avail. lucky to be able to get out of the middle of the freeway when the car had no acceleration or power behind it. started taking vehicle in june 2009, then dec 2009 and lastly in feb 2010. after being dismissed 3 times i continued normal driving conditions since the car was deemed to be "normal" now it does not have 2nd or 4th gear. *tr
While traveling from canyon to norris in yellowstone national park, i attempted to control the speed of the vehicle manually while climbing a steep hill, but found it impossible. the desired speed was 45, which is the maximum speed in yellowstone. the throttle has a delay of about one second, so it is continually 1 second behind the commands of the driver. the result is that the vehicle always overshoots the speed because the driver first expects a response from the vehicle, but gets none and continues to push the accelerator pedal farther down. when the vehicle reaches the desired speed, the driver lets up on the accelerator, but the vehicle continues to accelerate according to the command 1 second ago. the driver then continues to let up on the pedal because the vehicle has not yet responded to the command to reduce rpm. the transmission shifts up when the driver lets off the accelerator. the vehicle then undershoots the desired speed and the driver pushes the accelerator down again. the vehicle again delays its response and the transmission adds an additional delay of about 2 seconds. the next overshoot is worse. this oscillation continues until the driver gets frustrated and sets the speed control. the speed control still fails to maintain speed when the grade changes rapidly, but the slow down is much less and it recovers in a couple seconds and maintains speed the rest of the way up the hill. the driver then has to ride the brakes on the way down the other side of the hill in order to maintain speed, which releases the speed control. the driver then has to set the speed control when the vehicle reaches the level again. if the driver lets the vehicle continue to accelerate down the hill, the transmission will eventually downshift at about 48 miles per hour, but continues to slowly accelerate. continually trying to correct for the lack of control of speed results in an excessive distraction and continually takes the eyes of the driver off the road. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 ford fusion. the contact stated that the key would not release from the ignition switch which caused the vehicle to shift gears and roll down the driveway although it was in park. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the shifter assembly needed to be replaced. the failure mileage was approximately 63,000. the current mileage was approximately 63,010.
Unable to remove key from ignition. shift lever button will not fully extend to allow the selector to go into proper position so that the key can be moved. i have pushed and let it snap back out and have been able to get it out once or twice but now stays in most of the time. this has just started on this 2007 fusion with in last 7 days. *tr
I bought my 2007 fusion at end of march. since then i have noticed on a daily basis that when i am at a complete stop and try to start the accelerator is very touchy. i peel out almost 75 percent of the time. the gas pedal shouldn't be that hesitant or touchy. i am afraid to change my own oil which i have done all my life. i am afraid of driving right off the ramps. i am very afraid of merging into traffic at stop signs. especially this next year for the winter season. i had a few instances at the end of the snow season i couldn't even get going in my own driveway because of the over power. i would just spin out with the instant over acceleration. also at stop signs that were snow covered. (that has never happened with any other vehicles i have owned.) also the acceleration of trying to pass someone there is a major hesitation to switching from overdrive to drive and back again. *tr
Hard shifting everywhere and all the time..was letting foot off gas during shift to lessen the hard banging shift, but now that does not work .. now unable to drive. see web site of others with same issue..if ford attempts to fix it...its just that an attempt. i am sick of this car..this is the biggest issue not the only one. please make them fix this!!! norm folks can't pay 3-4k to buy a new transmission. -https://repairpal.com/harsh-or-dalayed-shifting-of-automatic-transmission-727
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving, the vehicle exhibited an abnormal popping noise as the transmission began shifting hard, causing an unusual increase in engine rpms. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. later, the contact was driving under 40 mph when the vehicle would not shift between gears. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who informed the contact that the transmission would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was 91,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.
2007 ford fusion 4 cylinder, manual transmission. extremely difficult to control in winter weather. i have driven other manual transmissions on snow and ice with no problems. this car is terrible. i lost control once traveling about 20 mph and did $2000 front end damage. suddenly, the front went slightly left and the rear went to the right as i spun around, hit a mailbox post and barely missed a telephone pole. otherwise i like the car except for the noisy 4 cylinder engine (over 60 mph). *tr
The vehicle response to the accelerator is unpredictable and always delayed. sometimes the car will interpret a small quick depression of the accelerator the same as flooring the accelerator. there is always a delay of two to three seconds before it responds at all. the same action can result in widely varying responses of the engine and transmission, apparently depending on the temperature of the air and engine. the accelerator is very touchy and seems to use only a small portion of the movement. that coupled with the transmission constantly shifting to set the engine speed at near idle in all but freeway driving makes manually controlling the speed within 5 miles per hour when near a shift point almost impossible. the constant shifting and refusal to slow down when the accelerator is released makes it impossible to manually control the speed of the vehicle accurately on hilly roads. this is a continuous problem, not a one day event. *tr
I own 2007 fusion se that has a vibration in front-end of vehicle when you accelerate quickly or wet pavement and the right front wheel grabs intermittently and on dry pavement it pulls extremely to the right and some timesone can lose control of vehicle if you aren't expecting this action to happen. *tr
Car is new and three months old."metallic scraping sounds were heard. taken to dealer, and dealer's mechanic found the con stant velocity joint to be rusted and faulty. mechanic shocked that this happened on a new vehicle. part special ordered as it's not normally needed. vehicle currently with dealer for part replacement.*ak
