Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to shift into gear and the service engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to hagerstown ford (1714 massey blvd, hagerstown, md 21740, (301) 733-3673) where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: cas 24237271. the failure mileage was 85,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. on several occasions, while stopped at a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to respond. on another occasion, while attempting to exit from a parking lot the vehicle failed to start. roadside assistance was contacted and was able to provide a jump start. the vehicle was taken to pacifico ford (located at 6701 essington avenue, philadelphia, pa 19153, (877) 349-3923) where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the transmission control module and transmission clutch needed to also be repaired. the fuel tank and transmission control module were replaced; twice however, the failure recurred. the contact was also informed that it would cost $947 to replace the transmission clutch. the repair was not performed. the manufacturer was informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Message occurred on 8/8/2019 'transmission over heating pull over and allow cooling'. i was driving in stop and go traffic on clements ferry road, charleston so pulled off the road at truvalue hardware. i had been going into palmetto ford to satisfy recalls outstanding. there was concern when i took my car into palmetto ford when parts were available for other recalls. after the first repair for recall, i returned for the next recall and mentioned that the car had begun jerking when pulling onto roads and trying to accelerate and only began after the first recall repairs. there were a few times when the car just sat there not moving until the jerk would happen. mr. mount at palmetto ford said that was how the transmission worked to change gears. i was still concerned and took the car to o'reilly for diagnostic reading. attachment 1 is a copy of the message on o'reilly's diagnostic screen. the technician said he had never seen that message before.

Was informed by ford in 2017 that there were transmission issues with my make/model. took it in to a local dealer and they said yes, the clutch of my transmission needed fixed, which they did. now, 2 years later, it's broken again. there are countless instances of clutch issues with the transmission in my make/model, however, ford says that the extension of 10 yr/100,000 mile is only for the computerized portion of the transmission. even though clearly there is an issue with the clutch since it's the same issue from before. they refuse to fix it even though it's the same issue and i'm only at 66,000 miles.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving at any speed, the gear shifted out of first gear and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle stalled and was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle failed to start and was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the computer system failed and the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was not provided.

Transmission jumps and slips randomly. next day, it's fine. it's generally between 1-3 gears.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. every time the accelerator pedal was depressed from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to long lewis ford (2551 john hawkins pkwy, birmingham, al 35244) where it was diagnosed that both clutches needed to be replaced. the contact stated that the failure occurred at least two years. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 142,000.

At 11/25/15, 15,490 miles ford dealership checked vehicle for our complaint of increasing hesitation issues at acceleration. found no codes. second report at 8/10/16, 22,896 miles. we told dealership that it was like the transmission or clutch was slipping. no codes. 3rd report at 8/29/16, 23,057 miles-- dealer replaced clutch assembly and seal kit. at about july 2019, 50,000 miles same problems resurfaced. 8/6/19 ford dealer confirmed car again needs a new clutch, but no longer under warranty. car is stuttering at take off from busy intersections, acceleration ramps, etc almost causing serious accidents. should not have to replace a clutch every 25000 miles. affordability is issue and safety issue because of affordability.

My car's clutch slips. this is a 2014 ford focus with the transmission that has given ford so many problems. it stutters and jutters and makes me worried that it will give out in an intersection. to further complicate things, it had a salvage title when i purchased it, unrelated to the clutch. since owning the vehicle ford has replaced the clutch, transmission and tcm. i was very happy with the service, then, 14000 miles later, the clutch started doing the same thing. i took it back to ford and all of a sudden they wouldn't replace the clutch because it was a "salvage title" as if the restored status of the title makes the vehicle unworthy of replacing a safety issue. i told them that it was salvage the last time they replaced everything, they still refused to fix it. to me, this is very much a safety issue. the last time it got this bad, the car lurched and bucked and threw an engine code, almost stalling out in the middle of an intersection. ford swears this is not a safety issue, it really worries me. this stuttering and juttering occurs when the car is moving in first gear shifting into second. it does it more when hot, but occurs all the time. the original clutch that was replaced had a 12k mile warranty, of course when it started acting up again, i was over that amount.

Since purchasing the car in 2014 i have had multiple transmission issues. clutch replacements. sensors. everytime given a different excuse for the same shutter and issues with the car stalling. this last time the car completely haulted from going 45mph on a 4 lane road, trasmission light flew on, rpms would rev up, but car would barely creep. i was almost slammed into from behind before i could safety move to the slow lane and travel to a safe stopping point. yes the car was still abke to navigate, but that did not matter when vehicles were coming up on me driving 45+mph to my vehicle that stalled out. i called ford. it took days to get the car back and it has been running worse than ever! transmission is constantly slipping. a new constant shutter has now developed. the car will sometimes begin to move from a stop light, but decide to suddenly drop to a crawl and the rpms go high then as it corrects the rpms no longer adjust and the car no longer feels it is auto shifting correctly. issues occur during driving, on highways, at stop lights/signs. when going a steady speed wheather is it 25 or 65 the car constantly shutters all the time now. the transmission or clutch slip anytime any given day. it is unpredictable. worse more dangerous problems with this vehicle and no help from ford.

Vehicle is equipped with the ford dps6 transmission. transmission shift rough, stutters and hesitates. took the vehicle to robinson brothers ford in baton rouge, la. service department indicated that the clutches and seals in the transmission needed to be replaced.

When i press the gas pedal from 1-45 mph the car hesitates to go and then jerks forward. i took it into the ford dealer who stated it was a bad clutch and they replaced the clutch. a month later the same problem occurred again so i took it back to the dealer who say the transmission was leaking which ruined the clutch and it had to be replaced again. within 2 months i had to buy 2 clutches and pay to fix the transmission.

I purchased a used ford focus in july of 2016 from joe machens capital ford in jefferson city, mo. it was sold with a 100000 mile warranty and had 20,725 miles on the odometer. within 24 hours of driving it home to rolla, mo i started noticing a shudder and shake while driving the car. i was unsure what was going on and called the dealership only to be told this was normal due to the type of clutch installed in the ford focus and not to worry about what i was experiencing. this went on for some time and grew progressively worse. i received a recall on the shuddering problem which i learned was actually a clutch issue. i took my car to the local ford dealership in rolla to have the clutch assembly replaced for the first time on 9/21/16. it should be noted the previous owner had the transmission control module replaced on 2/8/15 and replaced again on 8/3/15 at the jefferson city, mo dealership. after having the clutch assembly replaced in rolla it was only a matter of weeks before the problem was back - shuddering, jerking, sounds like a chain being dragged underneath the motor or gravel crunching, and sometimes, even had the car hesitate or completely stop in the middle of the road. the car was in motion each time i experienced the above situations. it does it upon take off, while driving, up hills, pulling out into traffic, etc. it has had the same problems day after day except for maybe hours after having it in the shop. i drive my car for work every day and was not able to have it back in the shop until january of 2018 to have the clutch assembly replaced again along with some other recall work that was done at the same time. when i picked the car up after the repairs were made a second time i was given a printout of operating characteristics of the powershift 6-speed transmission. what a load of crap that was.

My vehicle has at multiple times lost acceleration power at high way speeds and had a transmission warning flash on, causing myself to have to stop on the interstate and attempt to coast to the shoulder amid highway speed vehicles. i have also lost acceleration power going uphill, and my vehicle shudders at acceleration which makes it hard to merge on and off the highway or to turn at intersections, as i can't get guarantee my car won't hesitate and cause a collision, my car also sometimes accelerated forward in stopped traffic, so i always am super wary in stop go traffic. all of these problems typically occur when i am attempting to accelerate or decelerate. multiple transmission repairs with same issue. still happening to date.

2014 ford focus se sedan. ford procrastinated fixing the transmission module. i reported the problem repeatedly but they said it was normal for the 6 speed auto transmission. finally i threatened to contact nhtsa and ford customer service and they replaced the module at 13,000 miles and again after 26,000 miles. they delayed again and now at 62,000 they say i need a new clutch. my dad was a mechanic and i take care of our vehicles. i believe that the delay in repairing the module lead to wear on the clutch. it is very unusual for an automatic transmission to have this problem with less than 100,000 miles and normal wear and tear, especially since the 2015 model is covered for this problem.

Power steering failed while driving. nearly caused an accident. lucky there were no others on the road. ford dealership said rack and pinion needed replacing. 2 weeks later the transmission completely failed. had already been re-programmed as part of the 14m02 program. this didn't fix the juddering and poor gear performance. dealer says transmission is broken and none of the customer programs apply.

Ever since we bought this vehicle it has lost power during acceleration, slips out of gear regularly, when stoped on an incline the vehicle will roll back approx 3ft before the transmission will catch almost hitting vehicles behind me. it has always had this terrible shudder coming out of 1st gear. this is an automatic dual clutch transmission. i will not let my children ride in this vehicle because i feel it is unsafe and it would not be ethically right to sell it to someone else.

Three days ago, while traveling 65 mph on a highway driving a 2014 ford focus, my car transmission switched to what seems to be called "unintended neutral," where i was in drive but my vehicle would not accelerate, and instead revved like i was feeding the engine gas in neutral. i had to slow down on the highway and eventually shut off the car and restart it to safely move over to the shoulder. according to suits and complaints that have been getting more attention in the last month, this seems to be a major problem with the dps6 transmission in the ford focus and fiesta - with increased calls in recent weeks from congress to have the nhtsa look in to this issue as well as a sudden acceleration issue that happens when these vehicles come out of stops - which has also happened with this vehicle, all in addition to the intense shuddering that comes from the hood of the car nearly every time i drive. though it is an automatic transmission, it consistently drives like someone is poorly driving a vehicle that has a manual transmission. we would not have purchased this car if it drove like this at the dealership, and upon returning it to a dealership over a year ago to ask for an explanation about the shuddering, the dealer said this was entirely "normal" and how it was supposed to be. i urge the nhtsa to look in to this issue because i am not sure what i should do - an extended warranty has been put out for these transmissions but i have seen multiple reports online about people getting this "fixed" at dealerships three or more times and am unsure whether i should just get a different car or if there will be a long term solution from ford on this issue. thank you.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving, the rpms became stuck and the vehicle failed to accelerate. in addition, while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact stated that the transmission warning indicator was illuminated, which indicated that the transmission was running hot. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and waited for a minutes without powering off the engine. the transmission indicator illuminated "transmission ready" and the contact was able to drive; however, the failure recurred. the contact called sunset ford (11700 gravois rd, st, louis, mo 63127, (314) 843-4431) and scheduled an appointment. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 103,000.

When in stop and go traffic or accelerating from a very slow speed to a speed above 40mph, my car will either a.) stall while accelerating or b.) would not move when i pressed the gas pedal from a stopped position. i received a notice from ford in december 2018 about this issue and was told to keep the fuel tank above half full. this issue persists even with a full tank of gas, and i've taken it into a ford service center twice and two rounds of fixes have not remedied the problem. the date on this report is the most recent incident of this after the "fixes" were implemented.

Car was working fine most of the day. got in my car and it would not start. i tried it three times, no luck. i shut everything off, pulled the keys, opened the door. i then tried again fo turn on car, came right on. now however, the car is having over accelerating and decelerating problems which it didnt have two hours ago. going up/down any type of hill is where its the worst at accelerating and decelerating randomly. sometimes it over accelerating and i dont even have my foot on the gas at that moment. and it has a hard bucking problem between the two random accelerating/decelerating problems.

The vehicle would stall when trying to accelerate from a stopped position. a recall was addressed at a dealership for the problem 3 years ago. now the car has 89,000 miles and the reverse quit working and drive has a stalling problem as well. i took it to a parts store to have someone look up a computer to it. it read clutch "b" actuator control circuit low. i was within the city when the latest event happened and noticed the check engine light came on when it was driving poorly.

Ford focus se 2014 dps6 transmission issues. vehicle slipped into neutral in motion while ascending a hill at 65mph. this caused my vehicle to lose speed quickly which almost resulted in me getting rear-ended by a semi truck who was tailgating me. he proceeded to honk as he probably thought i got on my brakes. transmission slipped into neutral in motion, while pulling out into a then clear intersection to get across a 4 lane highway. almost resulting in me getting t-boned by oncoming traffic. stopped to cross an intersection i waited for a clearing, i pressed the gas the vehicle proceeded very slowly into the intersection almost as if the transmission was lagging. this could have easily caused me to get t-boned while in the intersection.

Under any acceleration the car jerks back and forth, the transmission is starting to drive really rough and we only have 60,000 miles!

My ford focus transmission has been acting strangely. it does not accelerate smoothly. it continually feels underpowered as if it is going to stall or stop moving forward. at times, it seems to have trouble moving up hills. problem occurs while car is moving. the service engine light came on and the dealer said it was the transmission clutch assembly.

We purchased this car and it cut off on my daughter due to the gas tank not functioning properly. the car was repaired and we paid for it. shortly after, the car's transmission stopped shifting properly, lose power, jerk, and shake while driving. it has become so unpredictable that we are unable to drive it. we have been to ford for their secret repairs to the transmission and consistently been told by those that are to do the repair that they don't know anything about it.

Tcm and fuel system purge valve are both recalled on this vehicle , i have taken it to ford 6 times in a year for this issue, they tell me its not affected but it is according to your website and my car has all the symptoms of it, itll loose power on the interstate and then after i get it restarted i can make it 2 miles and it does it again, it is a death trap.

While leaving work, i was backing up in the parking lot and the transmission shuttered very badly and even as i had my brakes applied it lurched several feet almost colliding with a garbage dumpster.

Dual clutch system, loss of power when trying to accelerate, shuddering when slowing down. rolling backward when accelerating after stop on incline. have had three replacements and brought in for fourh time only to be told its normal.

7/15 driving north bound on cline (highway) and while my ford focus slipping out of drive in to neutral. couldn't get my car to respond at all or get back in drive so i pulled off to the shoulder

7/15 while approaching a stop sign off of highway cline my ford focus sounded like it was downshifting as i had my brakes applied with smooth pressure throughout but as the car downshifted again it launched me into a 4 way intersection almost causing a major accident.

Shuttering when shifting gears. car was at about 6000 miles on the odometer when it started.

My 2014 ford focus has had several instances where i have had to press the accelerator multiple times to even get it to move but on sunday july 14th, 2019 at about 2:30 in the afternoon i was crossing an intersection in downtown apex nc and my car just stopped and wouldn't go. it continually kept revving up and wouldn't go anywhere! i had a 6 month old as well as my 2 year old son in my backseat and traffic was about to start coming right for me. i had to literally floor my car numerous times before it would even move and when it did it jumped into the next lane over. i have had the clutches replaced in this vehicle 4 times already and have taken it back to get them done and have been turned down because supposedly there isn't an issue. i am officially scared for mine and my sons lives driving this car but there is nothing i can do because it is the only car i have to drive to work. something needs to be done about these cars and they need to be taken off the roads!

Since owning this vehicle brand new, there have been consistent transmission issues. while the vehicle is in motion, regardless of speed, it feels like it slips into neutral gear even though it is an automatic. we have to pull over as quick as we can to avoid getting hit by other moving vehicles. our vehicle has been back to the dealership numerous times for this issue to where they have replaced parts related to some clutch system. the dealership did not provide repair order documents for these repairs. the most current issue was this past saturday when the vehicle again lost power while driving, had to pull over and sit for a while. start the vehicle back up and it works normal again. this is extremely dangerous. we are the original owners and still owe $ on it. would like ford to just buy back the car.

On my way to work i was taking a left turn onto the highway. in doing so, the car cut power causing the cars behind me to almost hit the back of the car at about 40 miles and hour. this is a very unsafe vehicle, i am waiting for the day someone isn't paying attention when the transmission fails to perform in a usual manor and i, or someone else in the car, is seriously injured.

My 2014 focus has been sent to ford 3 times since i purchased it new in 2014 for for transmission issues. three times, i have lost all power in the vehicle and have had to coast to a stop. two of those times i was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving, the other time the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership for a repair. each time this happened i went to the dealership and was told that the issue was fixed or they couldn't repeat the issue. my car is the largest purchase that i have ever made, after researching this issue it seems to be widespread. the government is supposed to be looking out for its citizens. what can be done to hold ford accountable for selling a faulty vehicle and not providing a solution? while not a severe as the car shutting off, i also regularly experience uneven acceleration where the car speeds up and slows down violently when in first gear.

My car was not accelerating and a message about the transmission came up. the car would not turn back on and i can't reverse or drive.

This car hesitates and jerks from a stopped position. there is a rattle as the car starts moving. on two occasions, while merging uphill into traffic, the car stalled. on several other occasions, it came close to stalling. i've taken it to the dealer several times over the years and they tell me there is nothing wrong. when i get the car back from being repaired, the 'check engine' light comes back on after a week or two. i can't answer your question below about when it happened. it happens all the time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. while driving 20-30 mph, the instrument cluster gauges fluctuated and the vehicle lunged forward. the contact stated that the hill assist and abs warning indicators illuminated and the instrument cluster became inoperable. the contact stated that the vehicle had not experienced the failures prior to being repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 13v523000 (power train). castle ford (located at 3930 franklin st, michigan city, in 46360, (219) 879-5381) and the manufacturer were informed of the failures via telephone. the failures were intermittent. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 52,154.

I was coming home on thursday night in dark july 11,2019 and my car was trying cut off. i was able make it in yard. i told my mom she thought i was out of gas. i had over half tank.so mom said let's drive it to store. we crank up it wouldn't go in reverse. the next morning i call trophy ford and told them.i would be bring it in if it would go in reverse. ok so it did but kept trying cut off a car almost hit me as i was trying get it.across highway. i purchased this car july of 2017. i have never received no kind of recall on anything, but now they say it's all these recalls. the door latch mess up last monday i had to hold door with my arm out window while i was driving. the told me.oh recall we fix it free. took them 3 days fix it i almost miss work trying get ride. now my transmission gone out and they say i need clutch which i had to pay but it was in recall. this is not fair at all i like to get lawyer but i am.too poor my son start college and has no way there now cause car broke.we work minimum wage at restaurant. how can this be fair after he almost got killed. we have a ford ranger truck we had for 16 yrs no motor or transmission problems so i always purchase ford but now i see i have to put the word out these focus are a piece of crap. please help me please i'm begging don't stop my.son education.

Having problems with transmission. clutch would chatter, shudder and slip. transmission control module was reprogrammed on: 6/15/2015, and 2/01/2016. after that action the clutch was replaced on 2/16/2018. while turning into traffic the transmission would sometimes slip and not get the car up to speed. when the engine is turned off the clutch shudders off.

Extreme shuttering coming from the transmission, first gear slips, sucking cares the worst and slips the most and struggles to get the third gear. the gear slip every time you come from stop to go, and second gear such the worst again but worse when you're turning

Transmission keeps going into fault mode, randomly does not appear to be in a gear at all. does this at intersections, driveways, and while regular driving, out of nowhere. do not know what the cause this however it is a very big safety issue with children in the car. it is not safe to drive like this.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle shuttered whenever the gears were shifted. when the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, the pedal would not let up easily. the vehicle was driven to autonation (20777 katy fwy, katy, tx 77450, (281) 305-8949) where the contact was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty; therefore, they would not service the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the dealer also stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. the failure mileage was 58,000.

Tcm recall purchased vehicle may 2016. through 3 years of ownership, vehicle was taken to beach ford approx. 3x for regular service including oil change and air filter. while vehicle was at beach ford, i requested service department check the transmission/dual clutch mechanism due to noticeable stuttering while driving. at the time of receiving vehicle back, i was told that the transmission was fine each time. 7/3/2019 - i was on my way to work 30 miles away from my home. while making right hand turn, then accelerated vehicle jolted with check engine light being illuminated. upon further acceleration, determined vehicle could not go above 25-30mph. once parked to address unknown mechanical issue, attempted to reverse out of parking space and discovered vehicle had lost reverse. contacted beach ford explained the issue as well as explaining that the vehicle was 30 miles away from my home and not drivable. the service adviser stated that they did not have a tow truck and could not provide any assistance to have vehicle towed to the service center. 7 hrs later after going through my insurance company with roadside assistance, my vehicle was towed to beach ford within minutes of the service dept closing. due to july 4th holiday, my vehicle would not be looked at until 7/5/19. received call approx. 4:30pm stating my vehicle was ready to be picked up. cpv recall while vehicle was in service for tcm recall, i requested additional recall nhtsa 18v735 canister purge valve be address. service advisor stated they would address and vehicle would be ready the following day 7/6/19. received text 10:44am to pick up vehicle. clutch still felt shaky. see pdf attachment beachfordservjuly0619 cpv recall see pdf attach 14focushernansfty072519 for further issue see pdf attach beachfordservjuly1519 see pdf attach focusservice historycarfax prepared by [xxx] carmasters, llc. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The faulty transmission cause clutches to run out that may cause the car to stall. i have 2 clutch replaced by new car warranty. last diagnostic showed that i need to change clutches again but my new car warranty is expired. since the transmission is defective clutches should be changed periodically, probably every 5k - 12k miles. for some reason ford didn't include my car under 14m01 warranty extension. i do risk that my car to be stalled due to clutches run out because of faulty transmission.

Car shudders and shakes while taking off from a light and acts like it is slipping in between 2 and third gears . makes stopping and starting or entering a highway very dangerous . seems thisnproblem is an on going one with this year model ford .

Transmission jumps in and out with a clunking when starting off at a red light

I was going down the road and went to slow down to turn and the transmission wouldn't go back into gear. i just had another transmission put in and the very next day an alert popped up on my dash saying transmission fault service now. when i took it back to the mechanic shop they said that the issue wasn't my transmission itself and that it was a communication issue between the pcm and the tcm. overall this car has had several issues with the style of transmission

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford focus. when the vehicle was placed in reverse, it moved forward instead of backwards. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the accelerator pedal was slow to respond. also, when the vehicle accelerated, it would not move forward. the contact took the vehicle to jordan ford (13010 ih 35 n, san antonio, tx 78233, (210) 653-3673) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was operating as designed. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 82,000. *tr consumer stated not included from my verb statement is the following: car has had failures to respond on numerous occasions, with the most recent being listed on the report.(7/2019). car has not been taken to dealer since july 2017 when it was experiencing all of the same symptoms but they told me nothing was wrong with it after keeping it for over a week. car has had issues since date of purchase jan 2004 and i am the original owner. to this date, car continues to slip out of both reverse and out of drive while in operation. acceleration is slow and unpredictable, sometimes doesn't move forward at all when accelerating, sometimes jumps forward and takes off at a rapid speed from a dead stop. car hesitates, shakes, shudder, jerks and makes grinding noises all indicators of transmission issues. i have scheduled another service appt. with jordan ford for 9/2/19, which was the first appt. they had available. *jb
