Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2012 Ford Focus

Car always shudders when accelerating from stationary zero mph. this car has a sel option and is driven only in automatic transmission. i have never used the sel option! the shudder causes sloppy acceleration delays from zero starts, lights and stop signs, just like a manual shift being driven by a driver unskilled clutch/shift coordination. the same thing occurs when braking for a light, then at low speed, the light turns green and you change to accelerating instead of completely becoming stationary.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving approximately 65 mph, the transmission independently shifted into neutral and the rpms increased. the vehicle stalled without warning and failed to restart. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the pcm, tcm, and shaft seals were replaced. the failure occurred only after the vehicle was serviced per the manufacturer's voluntary recall in which the clutch and the tcm were replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

Recalled vehicle for computer system. defect causes breaks to wear early, shuddering in transmission, and eventual transmission failure while the car is running. is a known problem as i see from many other internet complaints.

This is not the first time this auto manual transmission has caused problems. when i have taken this vehicle in for service and asked them to look at the transmission and when i have explained what it does they said that is how it should be. it has acted like it won't go and it has rolled back on hills. it has shuttered and stuttered to change gears. finally it didn't and it was in traffic on a 70 mph highway. while driving in rush hour traffic - not stop and go - just morning traffic with several other drivers on a 70 mph the ford focus stopped accelerating. the car would not go past 40-45mph. i had to turn my hazards on and try to keep going and work my way over to the shoulder. it was difficult and very dangerous. i couldn't get over as quick as i would have liked and i could have died! the car wouldn't shift gears. it is like it was stuck in between and then it wouldn't really slow down and finally i had to coast on the shoulder to a stop. i was almost at an exit so i thought i would try to get off to a quick parking lot. but then it wouldn't go. it wasn't stopped, but it wasn't driving. then a message indicated hot transmission and i waited as it indicated to let it cool. finally it cleared and no more message. i tried to go again on the shoulder to get to a safe parking lot or something and it went for a minute got stuck at 40 mph and started to slow. the car's throttle was going and revving but nothing. i had to coast to a stop. let it cool and then i just tried to go to this wide part of the shoulder on the exit ramp so it would be safe to get a tow and get my stuff out of my car to my husband's car. i got a tow to a local ford shop and they said "you have to drive it differently." a car that i have had 4ish years, now i have to drive it differently? how do i drive to where it doesn't stop working? this should never happen!

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 20 mph, the transmission lost power. when the shift lever was placed in the drive position and the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle shuddered and failed to respond. the contact also stated that while attempting to traverse a hill, the transmission lost power and the vehicle rolled backwards down the hill. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the contact stated that the power train control module and transmission control module were reprogrammed, but the failure recurred five times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000. updated 01/05/17*lj *js

Tcm problems wife pulled out to a residential intersection and the car stalled, luckily no cars we're coming at the time she called me and was scared she didn't know what to do it took me i'm out 30 minutes to get to her meanwhile cars were backing up and going around her we pulled it into my mother-in-law's driveway which was near and ask my brother-in-law that is a mechanic to check it out and he indicated that it was the tcm that was out i have had problems with my transmission about six months after i bought it new it finally went out. i use this car to go to work i am a state circuit rider and put a lot of mileage on my car ilearn to deal with the sluggish transmission because of the dealers indicated they couldn't do anything about it just to reprogram the transmission that was done and that was the only thing that for done for my vehicle. after ford indicated recall i had too many mileage on my vehicle to qualify it was just barely over 50,000 miles the first time. second letter indicated for me to take the vehicle in to be checked but the dealer mechanic said that they had to physically hear or feel the shuddering of the transmission before they could program it again this went on until i had no warranty on my vehicle. the vehicle with sometimes do the shuttering or skipping of the transmission not all the time that's why the dealer said that he could not do it until it was doing it for him. so i learned to ignore the shuddering and skipping of the transmission and adapted to driving with it butt when my wife drove the car and it finally died on her that is too much to deal with.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the 'transmission overheating' message displayed and the vehicle would not properly accelerate. the vehicle was taken to ford of ocala (2816 nw pine ave, ocala, fl) and the transmission control module was replaced. the failure was remedied, but eventually recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 80,000.

We purchased this car new in august of 2012 and have had nothing but problems with the transmission. jerking, stuttering, etc. clutch has been replaced by ford at least three times under warranty to only fail again. ford has extended the warranty to 100,000 due to their known faulty design but has yet to fix the problem. owners will be left with a car that is unsafe, expensive to maintain and / or unusable once the warranty expires. we have had problems on the highway and is city driving. currently the car will not go above 30 miles and hour and no support from local ford dealer or ford corporate on getting rental car until they can finally fit us in 4 days from now. mind you this car is under warranty and is a known defect they've yet to fix. why after five years of known problems has this car not been recalled? how many people have to die in accidents before something is done? listed today's date as date of date of incident although this is just the lastest in a long line of headaches and transmission problems we've experienced since buying this car.

Ever since we purchased the vehicle brand new, the vehicle has shuddered and had transmission issues. for dis refusing to fix the issue. i was left stranded on the road because the tcm had to be replaced. pcm and tcm have been reprogrammed multiple times and the clutch has been replaced in it 3 or 4 times as well. ford keeps saying that this is normal and how it should operate the shudder and jerkign happens mostly when taking off froma stop like at a stop light

Since owning my 2012 ford focus,i have had multiple transmission problems.on three separate times the car had transmission malfunctions that caused near miss situations of being rear ended cause of my abrupt change of speed.one time the car would not go faster than 10 mph, another time it was 20mph max,and one time it didn't move at all.my children were in the back seat on two of those occasions.luckily no injuries resulted from this but nearly did cause accidents.one time the dealership covered the cost of repair, second time the dealership covered part of the cost, the third time i was told that i had to pay for the whole $7000 myself.after the replacement a few months later the transmission still acts up by slipping stuttering and jerking.this current problem is very frustrating.ford knowing that the problem was there continued to manufacture and sell these ford focus and fiesta models without concern for the safety of people.

I've had problems with the transmission from the start. i've had the trans control module replaced twice. problems include delayed starts, shuttering when shifting, revving high when about to shift, or sticking in gear and not shifting when it should. i kept taking it in, and each time they told me they couldn't find a code, so they couldn't fix it. they finally replaced the tcm, when my car just stopped in the middle lane, during rush hour traffic on the freeway. i couldn't get it to move, so i shut it off, then it wouldn't start again. it took emergency vehicles to get me to the side of the road because of all the traffic whizzing by. the second time they replaced it, i was on vacation, and my car kept sticking in gear, but the service engine soon light came on this time so they had a code to go by.

We had to have the front suspension repaired 3 times in the first 5,000 miles. there was a major knocking sound and you could feel movement in the steering wheel when the car was transistioning over a speed bump or into a driveway. right after this was fixed, after the third replacement of the same parts, the transmission had to be repaired 4 times, 3 times the clutch pack failed which happened regularly every 10,000-12,500 miles. the car would jerk violently during start of moving and then the clutch would slip while driving at speed. the clutch pack was replaced 3 times. the last time the transmission just failed to shift into any gear, forward or reverse, this happened while the car was moving in a parking lot. we are afraid this will happen driving on the street, through an intersection, getting on or driving on a freeway. the dealer looked at it, they said the onboard computer showed a failure code, they reset the code and then stated there was no porblem. when asked why the part that the failure code said was bad was not replaced the dealer stated that there was no problem and just drive the car. if it fails again have the car towed in and they will check again.

In 2012 i purchased the vehicle from future ford in sacramento california. over the past four years, the car has problems with the transmission, pcm module, transmission control module, clutch, starter, steering wheel, electrical system. i took the car to two ford dealerships for repairs. the service technicians cannot repair the car. i contacted ford motor company many times and they refuse to refund my money and recall the vehicle the car is very dangerous to drive and a risk to my life and safety. updated 07/19/16*lj *cn

I bought my 2012 ford focus new. ford has replaced my transmission/seals/ clutches four times thus far. i have had to schedule three appts with paul miller ford in lexington ky since transmission #4. the first & second inspection passed all tests, 'it's within parameters' was the only response the technician would tell me. my third appt, my transmission failed & now need yet another transmission. ford says my vehicle 'safe to drive'. will take 2-3 months for parts. focus continues to: shift erratic, rpm needle in 6-7 range, transmission slips, jerks, hestitates, boggs down, delayed acceleration, shudders, surges forward when stopping, decreased fuel mileage, and transmission is leaking. the cover for under carriage is covered/caked with transmission oil. how can this vehicle be safe to drive when clearly testing indicates the transmission has failed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle shook forcefully and the overheating warning light illuminated. the dealer diagnosed that the transmission was failing. the failure could not be repaired. the failure mileage was 48,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly failed to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the transmission software was updated. after the software update, the transmission suddenly switched to neutral and the engine shuttered while driving over 50 mph. after turning off the vehicle and waiting five minutes before restarting the vehicle, it operated normally. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 70,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 60 mph, the transmission slipped out of drive into neutral without warning. the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and it returned to normal. the dealer diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the failure recurred several times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

My 2012 ford focus shudders, slow to accelerate and grinds when accelerating. i have lose power mutliple times as i am slowing to a stop and lost power complete in may 2016. the clutch was replaced and now december 2016 same problem. the dealership says i must pay for the repair, although should the clutch last longer than 7 months. these always happened in the city on either two lanes or four lanes and more often than not early morning in busy traffic. i don't feel confident that the care will run correctly and safely.

I have had my ford focus since 2012. bought new. noticed roll back at stop signs and definitely on hills. had it looked at, was told it was fixed and as good as it is going to get. still rolls back. one night put car in reverse. it didn't move. shut it off three times, it finally reset. talked to the dealership about this. said they have never heard of this happening. have noticed a little jerking here and there. one day, june 2016, drove the car to downtown madison, parked in a ramp. all was fine. got back in and started it up to bells and whistles telling us the transmission malfunctioned and to have it serviced immediately. car would not shift properly. had the transmission control module replaced. two weeks later, 350 miles from home, after passing a semi, pulled back into the right lane and 10 minutes down the road, car refused to accelerate. it would rev up to 4500 rpm's but not move. all the way home. going up hill, same thing. get on a straight away and it moved fine, but to start off and stop lights and intersections, it would start slowly. but rpm's would rev every time. dealership just called. the work they did is "fine", now running a diagnostic on the powertrain. already 100 dollars in. not a happy camper at this moment.

The car has 70,000 miles on it. it has had 3 oil leaks (1 oil pan & 2 head gasket); i have also had to have the clutch replaced twice. the first time was due to shuddering and the second time was due to a transmission malfunction code. the two clutches were replaced 10,000 miles apart.

Transmission shudders, especially on acceleration. the vehicle stopped on me recently; it took me about 10 tries before it finally let me move it out of reverse and put it into drive

While driving the vehicle on the highway in a 55mph speedzone, the transmission would not shift gears, and then my car would not go over 35 mph. after taking it into the dealership, they simply said i was "driving the car incorrectly" and performed some kind of software reboot. now, when traveling around town, my car (which is an automatic) sputters when changing gears after it is stopped like at a stop sign, red light, or in stop-and-go traffic, or going up steeper hills. it acts like it is a manual transmission when a gear is missed or its being choked.

Ford focus se 2012 [xxx] purchased 08/25/2011. since new, the vehicle shudder and shake because transmission problems. it was again on the dealer in may 2016 for 2 weeks, after having to wait 20 days for the parts to arrive, at pines ford in pembroke pines, fl. during this repair also, one of the engine mounts was found broke and the dealer and ford motor company refused to pay for the replacement and the labor, $ 250 dollars total. really? for an engine mount? the dealership service advisor referred to the engine mount as a "tear and wear" part. really? this is the first time in my life i have to replace an engine mount on a vehicle 65k miles old. what about all the shuddering and shaking to the engine and transmission component? since new, the car has been at the dealer in more than 8 occasions. in two of this occasions, it took at least 2 weeks to get the car back. the tcm has been replaced and reprogrammed several times, the clutch and or transmission in more than 2 occasions. the dealer service advisor has always tried to convince us that the shuddering and shaking is "normal" as he called. in two occasions the vehicle stall and refuse to come back to life until 30 minutes passed. during last month repair also a case was open with ford motor company on 4/28/2016 [xxx] was closed by [xxx] without our consent. case is still open and valid. car is a lemon, plain and simple. Ford focus recall. car lost all acceleration while driving about 10mph in traffic but electrical stayed on. luckily it was traffic and i was able to coast to the roadside. happened first in november 2015, dealer said it was battery dying. happened again april 27 2016. now they're saying it's transmission electrical issues.

Powertrain is slipping, car lunges forward when presses on brake, rolls when gear, and the powertrain light turns on. this is the second/third time that this has happened.

New 2012 ford focus b/c i didn't want used car repairs. at 57.2k miles the transmission started to makes noises, automatically shift on its own sometimes to a crawl, roll backwards & lurch forward when stopped at lights/stop signs, no power up hills. the automatic transmission cost $1,000-$1,500 dollars but it drives like a clutch. my mechanic told me ford extended the transmission warranty to 7 yrs or 100k miles b/c of this. he gave me a copy from hotline archive 1) first perform the transmission adaptive relearns using the factory or equivalent scan tool 2) if these codes are p2831 and/or p2832 return immediately, it is likely there is an internal clutch issue. note, there is a common concern of internal seals leaking fluid onto the clutch ford has increased the warranty on the internal seals to 7yrs or 100kmiles. potential causes: internal automatic transmission 2) transmission control module adaptive relearn - confirmed fix summary: 3) replace automatic transmission. prior to contacting my mechanic i called the dealership they were vague about the transmission problem. my researched identified other complaints for the same thing. the dealership told me that the parts are backordered 3 months nationwide but it's ok to drive the car including on the freeway & it won't hurt the transmission anymore than what it is. later i thought what happens if it damages other non-transmission parts not covered under the transmission warranty - will that cost me out of pocket expenses - actuators/synchros/engine mounts, etc. ford should have told us about this new european dual clutch/auto transmission technology before they sold the car. i think they knew about the problem at the manufacturing stage & still sold the cars. the 2012 ford focus should fall under the lemon act. this is wrong from a consumer & safety stand point - driver, passengers, other vehicles.

Since we purchased the car new in 2012 it has not operated properly. i understand it is a hybrid transmission and feels different from other automatic transmissions. that is not the problem. the problem is that the car shudders and jerks forward when you step on the accelerator. we have taken the car in for this problem and have been told there is no problem. yet there have been about three recall or transmission updates. the last recall was serviced in january 2016. several times i have had to pull off the road and recently the car's engine light came on had to have the vehicle towed to valley isle ford because the car would not drive. there response after resetting the check engine light was that the car drove fine. i went to pick the car up and i barely made it home. the car again needs to towed back to the dealer. this model needs to be recalled and have the transmission replaced as it will never be able to be fixed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while traveling at 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the contact stated that a grinding noise could be heard while the vehicle was shifting gears. after the vehicle was shut off and restarted, the contact was able to drive the vehicle home and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch plate needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired, but the issue recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

Transmission is faulty. while driving, the car will slow down, shake, and shudder and will not accelerate. the rpms will increase to 5000-6000. this happens in city driving and highway driving. on the highway the car will slow from 65mph to 40mph without warning and will not accelerate. very unsafe!!!! the car has been back to ford dealership several times. each time they say the car is fixed only to be back with in a week or two for the same problem. seems ford does not have a fix for this problem and i dont want the car because someone is going to get injured driving this unsafe car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 30 mph, the doors on the vehicle locked and unlocked automatically and the tcm light illuminated. the contact stated that the failures occurred after the vehicle was repaired under a manufacturer recall for a system update. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 69,817.

Car hesitates when at low speed; terrible grinding noise when going uphill especially when stop start on a hill. gears slip while driving; i have owned and driven manual transmissions as well as automatic transmissions that can switch to manual but never experienced anything like this. today my car would not start: all the interior lights came on just fine- definitely not the battery. error message on the dash said "parking assist malfunction" - this ended up to be..... the transmission control module. there is definitely something wrong with the way these transmissions were made.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact bought the vehicle brand new and the transmission clutch was replaced twice under warranty since it was purchased. during the most recent failure, the vehicle hesitated to move. hagerstown ford (1714 massey blvd, hagerstown, md 21740, (301) 733-3673) confirmed that the transmission clutch failed again for the third time in three years. for this failure, the contact stated that they would not cover the repair cost since the warranties were expired for both the vehicle and the parts. the manufacturer, after being informed of a class action lawsuit about the transmission failures, stated that nothing could be done and transferred the contact to nhtsa to file a complaint. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 135,000.

I bought the car used in july of 2014 with about 23,000 miles. shortly after buying the vehicle, i experienced the transmission making grinding sounds and shuddering during acceleration. generally after the vehicle is warmed up and been on a drive. a reprogram was done and i went back to the dealership for the same problem a few weeks later. at this point, with about 30,000 miles, a new clutch and plates were installed. the vehicle performed fine for about 5,000 more miles. the shuddering and grinding noises have returned. the transmission has been reprogrammed twice since the new clutch. i currently have about 45,000 miles. ford will only reprogram or repair the vehicle if the shudder is outside of a certain range and attempts how to explain this is normal. i am still under factory power train warranty but it is like an act of congress to get the issue resolved. this is a recurring problem and i have been to the various dealerships at least 5 times for help. the transmission will sometimes jerk and struggle to accelerate. really concerned about my safety and others. i have had this issue from about september 2014 to the present day.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving low speeds and accelerating from the stop position, the contact heard loud noises. the vehicle jerked each time the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle also roll backwards when in park and when the contact was exiting the vehicle. the contact also stated that the transmission was slipping out of gear and made a grinding clunking noise. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission slipped out of gear and the transmission control module needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 25,116.

Since the introduction of dual clutch technology, beginning with 2012 ford focus models, there have been numerous documented cases of transmission problems. at least two recalls were to address the sluggish shifting. in my case the transmission has never functioned adequately, however i never experienced total failure. on march 15th, in heavy interstate traffic, the transmission experienced a failure. the engine warning light illuminated and the car would not propel forward, even in drive. i turned the vehicles ignition to off then on. that reset the system and i drove home. now just yesterday, march 23rd, the same thing occurred, however this time i had to tow the car to a ford service shop. in these events the warning light illuminates and the dashboard indicators flash. the car then idles and shakes failing to propel forward. this is a major safety hazard and i am reading this is a common occurrence with this model year. serious injuries can occur with this type of failure while driving in traffic congested areas. ford has not adequately addressed the issue and no resolution exists at this point. a class action lawsuit is in process against ford due to this issue. this is a very serious matter which should be addressed aggressively and promptly. the vehicle was in motion on an interstate expressway. note the recalls for their automatic transmission.

Got in my car on a saturday morning to go to work. noticed the transmission was shifting very roughly. as the day progressed, i noticed that when it shifted into 3rd, the rpm's would jump from 3500 and take a while to go back down into 2000rpms. in the afternoon, cranked my car up and now my check engine light is on. the shifting has gotten progressively worse. what makes this even worse is i have already had my transmission control module replaced once. i took it into the dealership on monday after not driving it all day sunday. i noticed as i got on the highway to get to the dealership, as my car shifted into 5th or 6th it went from 3500 rpm to 4500 rpm. i am afraid to drive this car! got to the dealership finally only to be told they are 2 weeks behind on transmissions and that they can't look at my car till at least thursday. i have the extended warranty and won't be able to get a rental till they diagnose it. i will never own another ford. this is unacceptable!

The transmission on this car is horrendous! i frequently experience severe grinding and shuddering when accelerating and have experienced complete stall outs when turning/merging onto roads and lanes. it is absolutely unsafe and have brought this up to the regional manager of ford during my current complaint with them. their response? that it's my fault for how i am driving the car. i am waiting my 3rd clutch replacement due to a 3-5 week backorder due to the frequency of this issue but it's somehow my specific driving causing the problem. worst of all is that their own service rep admits to this being a patch, not a solution. i will experience good performance for 2-3 months and then the problems will begin again.

1st time - car died on the highway and wouldn't drive. i took it to the closest dealership which was joe cooper ford. said that they couldn't cover a rental and reprogrammed the control module and said it was fixed. 2nd time - car died again so took back into joe cooper because they said they fixed it the first time. checked in by adam (rude) and went and got rental again. dealership covered this time. car was there for 7 days before i had to call to find out what was going on and i was told that adam who checked me in took no notes and it had been setting there not being looked at. finally was looked at after 11 days and told the clutch test was "not bad enough" to warrant it to be fixed under warranty and we would do out of pocket. they also said "we were not used to an automatic and not used to a standard because this car had an automatic clutch for its standard option". 3rd time - took in and they recognized me and said right away we can't cover this rental and they can't get to it for 2 weeks. i called ford motor company to get help. at first i was told the same thing but asked for supervisor and received a call back 3 hours later that ford would cover only 3 days of the rental.

Vehicle failed to move after transmission malfunctioned at 69,359mi after a few minutes the vehicle was operational enough to move off the highway to park it for the night.

Transmission shuttering driving up an incline or from a stop. began as a shutter which then evolved into grinding and violent shutter before replacing faulty clutch. vehicle was taken to dealer a total of 4 times in the last calendar year for the same repair without it being resolved. vehicle will slip and shutter consistently from stop, incline, or highway driving with engine rpm around 1200 - 1800 rpm.

Even after reprogramming the transmission control module, the car continues to present bucking, kicking, jerking, harsh engagement, and delayed acceleration, as well as lurching. today, the transmission control module completely failed to start the vehicle, although all other electrical works.

I have taken my car into two separate ford dealerships (elder ford and bill currie ford, both located in tampa, fl) for service due to the transmission audibly grinding and the car literally shaking on take off. it sounds like the car is going to die at any moment. each time i have taken it in, i was told it just needed to be "re-programmed". they would do that then send me on my way only for me to return a month or two later with the same issue. this past time, they replaced the transmission control module again only for the transmission to fail once more. while driving home, my car inexplicably stopped running in the middle of traffic on a busy street. the dashboard showed a transmission malfunction and to get it serviced immediately. i have called ford's corporate office and they keep telling me to speak with a customer service manager who just refers me back to the dealership for repairs. what if the car had stopped the way it did while i was on the expressway? this is not a safe vehicle and ford doesn't seem to care. i have copies of the documentation from each time the car was serviced for this issue. i am writing because i am at my wits end and i have given ford multiple opportunities to get this corrected and they keep trying to put a band-aid on it. i have done my own research and this problem is a very common one among this particular model of vehicle. i want to make sure that awareness is brought to this so that hopefully something can be done before something tragic happens.

The first time was going down 93 in boston area with my family the car went into transmission failure why i was in far left lane the car wouldnt go over 20 and i had to cross over to the far left lane to treach the breakdown lane. luckily my family was not in accident because it could've have been far worse. it did the same thing a second time when i was going down 293 area going to a doctor appointment. this may end up killing my family if it doesn't get recalled and fix. we don't have extra money to be repairing it ourself every time it decides to do this.

Ford focus recall for dual clutch assembly: we have had the dual clutch assembly replaced 3 times and continue to have problems with the car not shifting into the correct gear, dragging, and shuttering.

On 2/25/16, after a severe rainstorm, i went to turn on my car and tried to turn on the wiper blades, but they would not come on. the next morning they did turn on. that afternoon, when starting my car, the wiper blades turned on without the control being activated. the blades continued to run even when the car was turned off and no keys were in the ignition. the only way to stop the blades was to disconnect the fuse from the box. this has happened twice when i was not aware of this and my car battery was dead when i went to start the car. i cannot use the wiper blades at this time as they will not turn off. according to ford motor co., this is not covered under the recall on the wiper blades since my car is out of warranty. i have had my car in the dealership to repair the defective clutch and it is still not repaired due to ford motor co not sending out the necessary parts in a timely manner. my car is shuddering and jerking when accelerating and changing gears on all types of roads. i have had this issue since i bought the car brand new. the cruise control on my car works intermittently. when the battery is disconnected and then reconnected, the cruise will work for a few days. ford technicians could not diagnose the problem. this has been a problem for as long as i have had the car.

I've already had problems with the transmission (recall issue) that causes the grinding and jerking of the vehicle...and still have to address these. but just this week my blinkers started coming on (when i turned off my motor), and some alarm started sounding until i started up the car. really, really concerned at this point! not a safe vehicle. my second ford focus (my 2003 was a dream!)...wondering what went wrong in the factory!

Shuddering of engine between gear. lose of power when accelerating. red lines when trying to accelerate between first and second gear.

My vehicle lost all power in regards to acceleration and deceleration on the freeway at the speed of around 40-45 mph. i had to coast over two lanes and almost got rear-ended. the rpm would rev up but no power. restarted car and problem went away. next day had tcm flashed as part of recall. two days later had the same issue only going 60-65 on freeway. transmission went haywire and had to coast over and almost got rear-ended again. this time car wouldn't restart for about 2 min. no power. engine revving and complete loss of power twice and i feel this car is a major accident waiting to happen. i do not feel safe while driving not knowing why my car is losing power even after the so called software fix.

Car dies on highway while driving. fuel system and sensors seems to be failing or fell apart inside the vehicle it will not show appropriate fuel levels. it stuttering after filling up to full tank. vehicle is very dangerous to drive on a highway to work when fuel system is failing. many complainst have been filed on other automitive websites and forums about this exact fuel system issue. collapsed fuel system / fuel guage i just purchased this car 3 weeks ago and my previous pontiac grand prix 2006 gave me less issues than this ford focus. something really wrong is here with ford, i think they have gotten to a massive point they believe they cannot be held responsible for there mistakes or recalls since they are too tied into the dependecy of all the people.

When you drive the vehicle, the transmission shutters, shakes, skips gears, and sometimes comes to an abrupt halt making it feel as if i have been rear-ended. it happens when the engine is cold or warmed up, at all outside temperatures and conditions and is a general safety issue waiting to happen. i have had mechanics that specialize in transmissions warn against driving it as it could potentially be a very severe or life threatening issue. none of these mechanics have a solution for me. replacing it would just put an already bad transmission design back in. ford has done nothing for me. and i am frankly afraid for my life every time i start it up. the vehicle feels as if the transmission wants to explode. several times i have briefly lost control of the vehicle as the transmission jerks from one gear to another. this is my only vehicle for transportation and it is totally unsafe. is it going to take people dying to get them to fix this? are we having another general motors moment? why is the government not doing anything about this? your question below about the dates is irrelevant as it happens every time i drive it,
