The transmission feels like it slipping. and it rakes time to change gears sometime the car blinks hill start assistance unavailable and it keeps reseating the mpg millage and trip timer. this morning when i locked my car it was like a door was open but i checked all the doors and they was locked

2012 focus transmission - loss of engagement while driving on to freeway, shifted into neutral causing a near accident towed in 3 times for repairs - authorized ford dealer unable to repair transmission - filed two claims with ford motor co -the letter we received at time of purchase dated august 2014 stated " we are committed to building high quality, dependable products". this is a well documented defective transmission and ford is denying any assistance! our focus is cannot be repaired and has been at larry miller ford for 8 months. please hold ford accountable and issue a recall. thank you.

The car radio goes off the windows don't go down and the transmission went on the car out off no where when i maintain my car every 3 months and as needed

My car had less than 90,000 miles on it when it began to have issues with the transmission. the engine stutters or idles when i accelerate, which has made getting on the interstate a nightmare. if i accelerate to even 35 mph, i have to completely remove my foot from the gas pedal, otherwise my rpms will shoot to over 4 (4,000 rpms). it causes my entire car to feel like it's shaking, and it almost seems like my car is having trouble shifting gears. not only that, but when i've stopped at a stop sign and begin to drive, my engine makes the most terrible churning/clashing/grinding noise possible. lately it has gotten to the point that my rpms will continue to increase but my car's speed will stay the same. all of these situations (trouble shifting gears, noises, and high rpms) will occur no matter what, every time i accelerate. it doesn't matter what sort of road i am on.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle lunged forward without warning. the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle was towed to safford ford lincoln of salisbury (1902 north salisbury blvd, salisbury, md, (410) 548-4600) where they diagnosed and repaired the transmission control module three times; however, the failure continued. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 97,000.

Dual clutch transmission in my car experiences shift hesitation, shaking when launching from a stopped position, and major transmission shuddering. reverse gear also fails to engage randomly. seems as though transmission torque dispersion is improperly functioning. dangerous when pulling out into traffic lanes. excessive transmission vibration while vehicle is stationary. other issues occur while vehicle is moving on city and highway roads. thank you for your help!

For a few months now my power steering has been not working when i turn the car on sporadically. to fix this i have been just turning the car off then back on a few times and that seems to fix the problem. however, now it won't reset and i do not have power steering at all. i had it towed to the dealer and after they charged me 140 they tols me that it needs a new rack and pin and it would cost 2400!!! ford issued a recall on several different cars for this same issue. how many more people have to be hurt or die before they issue one for this? i just had the transmission control module replaced under warranty and received a letter in the mail informing me that a recall was issued due to the fuel system causing major problems.

Today's date i have called ford motor company and spoke with miss.chris id#2191199 around 10:53 am pst.with the given recent opened number was # cas16420379 to state the said problems and to se how we could possibly solved the said concerns we have.i have told, i have been denied or refused to have my vehicle to be re-serviced over again for the reoccurring previously fixed and serviced mechanical or electronic pcm related software or the hardware failures today's morning and i was told by one of their service advisor named as frank this vehicle can not be serviced any longer.because, this vehicle record's showing that the vehicle it is branded and/or salvaged and that it will void any kind of mechanical warranties and when i said this vehicle previously was serviced under the same condition and records and why can not be re-serviced over again for said previously fixed at your dealerships service department ? when i asked what has been changed from before and until now ? he did not give me a sufficient answer for my satisfactions. the transmission was operating in-properly and took the vehicle to the authorized local ford dealership in the city of costa mesa,ca-92627.checked it in to the service area and registered it with service advisor#7217 to mr.ned shortsleeve's cares for the said problems. and that we claimed the said issues we were experiencing.1-the check engine light comes on and stays solid on and when that happened the transmission won't operate properly 2-then they have placed the tcm the side door latch it may break per the manufacturer's safety recall and was asked the dealer to replace the said door component and we were told the part it is not available and needs to be ordered so can be replaced. we will be called when the part is arrived but,we never been called.

On my 2012 ford focus fuel consumption has decreased also once the car gets passed a half tank the fuel volume gauge is not correct the car actually runs out of fuel what's the last quarter of a mark which appears to still have fuel, also front end drivetrain makes loud noise when turning corners, engine will not crank at times and makes funny sounds under the hood electrical sounds. battery positive lead wiring gets hot . car will not start ,blower fan doesn't work and car runs hot, after being replaced 12/05/2019.

2012 ford focus have transmission problem. my car have problems changing gear i almost got into an accident. now its stalling and problem starting. ford say there nothing they can do!

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 45 mph, the transmission failure indicator illuminated. the contact immediately pulled over and restarted the vehicle, but the indicator illuminated again. the contact was able to drive the vehicle home. the vehicle was taken to dean sellers ford (2600 w maple rd, troy, mi 48084, (888) 452-1292) where it was diagnosed that the clutch; however, the vehicle was not covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. the manufacturer confirmed the dealer's statement and did not assist. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 101,149.

The automatic transmission shudders/vibrates when taking off. i took the vehicle to the service department and they stated that the warranty has expired. i understand that most of the ford focus and fiestas have this problem for many years.

Over the last 4 months my ford focus has completely ran like [xxx] the car bogs out cuts off due to the fuel and cluster jam and it's caused my clutch or transmission to throw codes. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I have recently bought a 2012 ford focus and it has the clutch problem. the problem has a warranty for under 100,000 miles. but does not have a recall for when the problem happens after 90,000 miles. so now i have to pay 1,500 dollars to get it fixed. ford needs to fix a problem they made

My car has 75,000 miles on it. i'm 6 months pregnant, driving on the interstate, when the vehicle's transmission starts to slip. during the slip, a "transmission malfunction. service now" light comes on and my car proceeds to lock up and stall at interstate speeds. three different cars almost crashed into my own before i could get safely to the shoulder. why is this happening to a car less than 10 years old, at 75,000 miles?

When i am starting my car i get a message that says steering assist malfunction service required and i can not turn my steering wheel at all.

In early 2017 i started experiencing issues with the electronic power steering. i would turn my car on some days and it would say power steering malfunction and there was no power steering making it impossible to turn the wheel and drive. turning it off and back on (sometimes several times) would get rid of the error code and i would be able to drive it like normal. a month ago at 129,000 miles the power steering went out again, but this time it is out for good. no matter how many times i restart the car, the error code will not go away. the cost to repair is outrageous for a car that is not worth much due to the horrible reviews and unending problems that everyone is experiencing. on top of that, i have been dealing with the car shuddering constantly when i drive it. my transmission went completely out a year ago and the ford dealership replaced it under warranty. i was driving and the car wouldn't shift. i pulled over and i could not get it into reverse or any gear. a few months after it was fixed the shuddering began again while i was driving the car (same symptoms as last time before it completely went out), but ford says that the car is no longer under the mileage it needs for the recall replacement, so if it goes out again and i know it will in a matter of time, that will be another $2,500 to fix. with the numerous complaints on just the power steering issue and the consistency between reports, i do not understand why there has not been a recall. it is a safety issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 20 mph, the engine revved, but the vehicle would not move forward. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 20,200.

After multiple issues \recalls with the transmission the car still is not running right. it takes sometime for the vehicle to start and once it does it shudders on acceleration. now i am being told both the fuel pump and the clutch need to be replaced. based on everything i am reading there are quite a few faulty parts in these vehicles that should be recalled.

Takata recall, first off is the driver door comes unlocked while driving, also had a door lock and wasn't able to close. my 2012 focus feels like it's got no power alot of times or will start to spudder from every stop. does same when reversing out of a drive way. sometimes it seems like it wants to stall, i have the automatic. it revs at really high rpms like it needs to shift but doesn't. probably have more issues the longer i keep it, i believe the huffines dealership, the company that financed and ford knew these things could and did happen to the car i was sold. single father with a 4 year old son just trying to get this fixed nothing about this is safe.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while attempting to accelerate at a stop light, the vehicle hesitated. the vehicle was taken to summerville ford (9700 dorchester rd, summerville, sc 29485, (877) 477-1434) where the contact was informed that the transmission clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 77,000. the vin was unknown.

The transmission of my car shudders during light acceleration when it goes into motion from a stationary position. i have been facing this issue for a long time now. it runs great in 1st gear but when it switches to 2nd it shudders and then shifts. also when it is on gears more than 2 it runs fine.

When placing pressure on the brakes to slow down or stop you hear/feel a crunching sound. it never did that before now it does it every time you use the brakes. i have taken it to 3 different garages to be checked and got back that my brakes was fine. one garage said it could be the abs system making the noise. no power to climb a hill or if you get up the hill the engine/motor does not shift like it suppose to. this all took place in august of 2018.

A warning message display while driving on freeway : "transmission malfunctioning, service now". car stops shifting properly. after turning off the engine for 1 hour , it starts back and the warning message disappear. no check engine light. scary feeling unsafe. this is a dual clutch system (automatic/manual 6 speed).

The transmission went out at the light and i said for 30 minutes and then the car started going in reverse and the draft started back working but it's been in the shop for the last 2 months in and out. i had just got off the highway

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while attempting to drive, the clutch slipped out of gear. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to bob ferrando ford lincoln (8868 w ridge rd, girard, pa 16417), but it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 82,000.

The cars transmission is out of wack. it does not shift or accelerate properly.

The transmission malfunction sevice now warning came on. car shudders and lurchs when on incline, slowing at intersection, difficulty maintaining 60 mph on expressway. clutch had been recalled and replaced several times: the first at 3,543 miles. the vehicle had shuddered, lurched forward i off/on for four years when stopping, slowing down and at highway speeds.

2012 ford focus with 55,000 miles. driving on interstate at 60 mph and the car suddenly shut down. weather was sunny and 84. fortunately, i was not hit and was able to coast to the shoulder of the interstate. steering and brakes worked fine. car will not restart. turning the key is uneventful, no noise or action of any kind. there is electric, as i was able to put the windows down. waited 3 hours for a tow truck. i lost a days wage, have a tow bill and a car that will not work. thankful that my teen was not driving at the time.

Vehicle shudders when taking off but once initial take off is complete there is no shudder anymore.

Can't reverse. does not shift gears properly. randomly stops sending power to the wheels. rpms bounce rapidly (high and low). has happened in intersections and highways, putting me and others in immediate danger.

Power shift transmission, both clutches were replaced by dealer. still experiencing problems, while in motion at 55mph on smooth highway engine surges without acceleration, tach up to 6000rpm; at low speeds transmission shudders, jerks, does not shift properly.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate over 20 mph and failed to shift properly from park into other gears. the dealer (hagerstown ford, 1714 massey blvd, hagerstown, md 21740, (301) 733-3673) was contacted and advised the contact to schedule a diagnostic appointment. the dealer and the manufacturer indicated that there was no recall for the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 69,000.

Takata recall - call rolls backwards when stopped. trouble accelerating

Transmission malfunction light on, car not going into gears properly. lurching, hesitating. vehicle was stationary when light came on.

Upon acceleration and driving it appears to drop gears and slow down. you can't accelerate, it's like it's in neutral and you can't go. this happens in the middle of driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 20 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted and the failure recurred while driving down the road. the vehicle was taken to pacifico ford (located at 6701 essington ave, philadelphia, pa, (267) 233-6945) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. the contact stated that the gear shifter failed to shift from park into reverse. the check engine indicator illuminated as the failure occurred. the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle multiple times before it was able to function normally. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was diagnosed that the power train control module relay needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. on a different occasion, while driving 50 mph in the rain, the contact's vehicle hydroplaned and crashed into the preceding vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed and there were no injuries. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the air bag failure was not diagnosed by a dealer. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 53,309.

While driving at 45 mph on a city street entering a highway. the car reved and would not shift out of gear but was still running. i tried turning it off but then it would not start back up and the display is showing it's in drive but the gear is in park

My car has been going backward when in drive and then just won't go. today it totally stopped moving while driving on the highway. thank god i was close to home and was able to pull over on the side of the highway. walked to the garage down around the bend and they pushed it off the highway and into their yard. before totally stopping the car would buck forward while driving then slow down and speed up on its own. now won't start or run. possibly the transmission or gear stick

2012 ford focus titanium dps6 equipped clutch shudder instances and tcm failure -- 2018 acceleration is unpredictable. before warranty repair, the car would have noticeable lag when accelerating from a stop. this has led to several dangerous situations where the car is expected to accelerate, but instead slowly crawls and shudders. one instance included turning left onto a highway from a stop. the car bogged along for roughly 3 seconds and almost caused a collision with an oncoming semi. when the accelerator is pressed, the car should accelerate as expected; it should not shudder or rev as if in neutral. when attempting to turn right onto a frontage road from a stop, the car slammed into gear mid-turn causing a tremendous amount of wheel hop, jerking the car towards the curb. another instance was in a residential area. accelerating from a stop sign at a t-intersection (cross-traffic does not stop), the car crawled forward and revved as if in neutral; no acceleration occured for several seconds. this almost caused a collision with another vehicle; there was plenty of time for a functioning vehicle to pull out onto the road safely. the latest occurence was in a parking lot. turning left out of a parking lot lane, the tcm failed and the car lost power in the middle of an intersection.

Since purchased brand new in sept 2011, my focus has had major transmission issues that has been a nightmare to deal with with ford to this day. my focus was taken in at least 5 times in the first couple years for a faulty clutch that caused jolting and shuddering and jeering while driving, causing my car to slip in and out of neutral on the road, sometimes nearly hitting other drivers. it became very dangerous. it took at least 5 visits for ford to replace the first clutch. they refused to accept that the part was faulty and did computer "updates" that did nothing to fix the issue. over the last few years, my car has been brought in about a dozen more times for the same issue and has had a total of 5 clutch replacements in 6 years, and my car just broke down again yesterday, just barely over 100k miles, with ford refusing to warranty my transmission. a message appeared, "transmission malfunction service now" and my car completely died. ford never wants to take responsibility for these transmission issues and have hassled me every time in the last 6 years over these issues. it is a huge safety issue to keep driving this car never knowing when the clutch is going to give out and cause the transmission to fail. i have supporting documents for these claims and can request all service records from ford if necessary. i do not want these documents made public since they contain sensitive information.

The automatic dual clutch transmission in this vehicle has had numerous tsb's issued because of defects but no actual recall. they extended the warranty coverage on the transmission but only for "specifically termed" issues. my clutch and seals have been replaced twice, the tcm has been reprogrammed 3 times and now they now tell me i need to replace the "j and k" forks, snap ring and t/o bearing in the transmission. but, they tell me none of this is covered. they opened up and serviced a "sealed" transmission at least twice already and the car is doing the same thing that was the original problem, shuddering, jerking and no power but now i have to pay. just getting it to the dealership i was almost in 2 accidents because of this cars erratic acceleration driving behavior.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford focus. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle automatically shifted gears from drive to neutral. the failure occurred without warning. the contact continued to drive the vehicle as it shifted automatically back to drive. the vehicle was towed to gridley country ford (1709 hwy 99, gridley, ca 95948) where it was determined that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 13v523000 (power train). the contact stated that the vehicle had already been repaired per the recall approximately a year and a half ago. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin and failure mileage were unknown.

Vehicle has lost forward propulsion numerous times. symptoms have occurred both at highway speed as well as stopped attempting to pull away from a stop. this issue started again at the first of the year and the vehicle was taken to longmont ford. longmont advise no codes present and road tested vehicle less than 1.5 miles. dealer advised couldn't do anything for transmission issue and i needed to come pick-up the vehicle. vehicle continued to exhibit symptoms of losing forward propulsion to include the interstate at 75mph. upon attempting to pull to a safe place in a construction zone, was able to obtain forward gears again after shutting vehicle off and restarting several times. (still no transmission service light or check engine light illuminated so i can't take vehicle back to longmont ford due to being told they can't do anything without a light illuminated and refusing to road test vehicle) symptoms became more frequent with additional issues of the transmission / clutches not releasing when coming to a stop and attempting to push the vehicle through a stop light. the symptoms this vehicle exhibits is a safety concern and continues to occur after ford's claimed repairs.

Tl* the contact owns a ford focus. the contact states that vehicle has difficulty accelerating from stop light. vehicle studders upon pressing gas pedal and has trouble accelerating to full speed. the contact drove the vehicle to the dealer (varsity ford in ann arbor, michigan) twice for the same failure. during the first visit, it was diagnosed that the transmission control unit failed and the vehicle was repaired. during the second visit, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. dealer and ford say this is normal operation. the approximate failure mileage was 66,000. *tt

While making a right hand turn the focus experienced a loss of transmission engagement power. the vehicle behaved as if in neutral even though it was in drive.
