Problems with 2000 Ford Focus AIR BAGS

Why did i suffer 1st and 2nd degree powder burns to the left hand from the focus steering wheel airbag? i know of another party who suffered same to left hand and forearm from a ford focus steering wheel bag. is there something wrong with the ford focus design or hand burns common in any steering wheel bag discharge? any insight would be greatly appreciated.*ak

While driving at 25-35 mph in the rain consumer lost control and vehicle ran into a guardrail, hitting right front side of vehicle. upon impact, none of the air bags deployed. contacted dealer. *ak

While driving 25 to 30 mph and making a left hand turn turn was to wide, and right side hit curve, and left side of hit a tree. upon impact, none of the airbags deployed.*ak

Both driver and passenger airbags deployed while car was stopped - the car in front was bumped but i'm sure it was after the airbags went off. while there is a possibility that i bumped them first i barely bumped them - i never let my clutch out or gave the car gas - neither car showed any damage, other than ours which shows only airbag damage. the police were called - the officer noted that there was no damage other than the airbags. our question is why did they go off? other then being scared and stunned for a few moments, my left arm suffered, bruises and burns from the airbag. the car has been at a dealership in nj for almost 2 weeks - they state it cannot be touched until the legal dept of ford contacts us . *ak

Driver side air bag deployed and caused 2nd and 3rd degree burns to consumer's body. steering wheel cover melted consumer's thumb nail/ forearm, and hair on driver's arm. dealer had no response to what kind of substance or toxics used inside of air bag. please add vin# and mileage to form.*ak

While consumer was traveling down the road air bags unexpectedly deployed, no one was injured. contacted dealer ,and dealer was not willing to do anything.*ak

While driving at approximately 5 mph both frontal air bags deployed unexpectedly. windshield was shattered when this occurred, and passenger lost all hearing for approximately 30 to 45 seconds. please provide any additional information/attachments/photographs. *ak

Ford focus 2000. facts about this accident include that the impact was head on with the damage to left front of the vehicle. the passenger , jacob, was belted , but the seat belt failed to restrain him. the air bag did not open until he hit the wind shield of the vehicle. when the air bags opened the steering wheel caught fire and burned..combustion was subsequent to the air bag opening and there was a great deal of smoke that the driver inhaled before the passenger in the rear seat , michael williams, got out of the car and put the fire out. she was trapped in the car by the seat belt , it would not release but it failed to restrain her and she hit the windshield ..not nearly as bad as jacob, but it is broken. the steering wheel was burned. michael saw some sort of sparks that he thought was from the seat belt.*ak

While traveling 10mph in bumper to bumper traffic consumer had a front end collision, causing airbags to deploy and break windshield on passenger's side. manufacturer and dealer have been contatced to buy back vehicle, but no decision has been made at this time.*ak consumer sustained first and second degree burns to right arm because of air bags. *slc

While driving 50 mph fell asleep, hit a guardrail and slid 5 miles, and then rear ended another vehicle which kept going. crashed , and passenger's side was mashed in 3-4 inches. no injuries except bruises. upon impact, neither air bag deployed. *ak

A truck turned in front of consumer who hit the truck in the right front tire area, the seatbelt strap failed, it extended instead of holding consumer in place, the locking mechanism also pulled out from the catch, the airbags did not deploy until after the consumer's chin hit the steering wheel, consumer was injured in accident, vehicle has $6000 worth of damage. *slc

When trying to aviod a crash with another vehicle, vehicle crashed into a fence post head-on, and there was no deployment of frontal air bags. front end of vehicle was smashed back to radiator. please provide any further information.*ak

All i was wondering is i don't know why my air bags didn't go off. *ak

Report written about 2000 ford focus.*mr there was a three car accident. the air bags deployed, however the consumer did not remember being involved in a collision, the consumer stated the vehicle was at a stop. *ts it was noted that the air bag system did have a previous problem where several contact pins in the electrical connector in the steering column were replaced. *jb

We were in a minor accident (rear-ended the car in front of us going about 25 mph, causing minimal damage to our right front bumper and none to their vehicle). both airbags deployed causing the driver to receive second degree burns on her arms. on the passenger side, when the airbags deployed they smashed the windshield causing glass to implode into the vehicle, sending shards of glass toward the passengers.

Consumer was driving at 4-5 mph coming from a dead stop to make a turn , turned a little wider and hit curb, leaving a mark size of quarter on tire. dual air bags deployed, causing loss of vehicle control. steering locked up, vehicle went over the curb. tire did not blow, and there was very little damage. front windshield completely shattered due to airbags deploying. dealer made a statement that there was airbag sensor in the wheel. *ak

Consumer was traveling about 40mph on highway and there was smoke coming from airbags. also, seatbelt didn't work. *ak
