On average, the 2009 Ford Flex starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE and its various aspects after 40 025 miles.

Recently reported FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE problems on 2009 Ford Flex

The issue that has recently cropped up on our flex is the fuel meter will read sufficient fuel for approximately 50 miles and then, in a matter of miles, the tank seems to run dry/indicate no miles left. on this particular date i was driving the car it indicated 49 miles to empty. after 3 miles it ran out of gas. fortunately i was on a side street and not the highway. this behavior could have been fatal if i was operating on a highway. i am not the only one having this issue. please see fordflex.net for additional cases as an example: http://www.fordflex.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=9449&sid=6d4b835271d1154c67fcd43967cb2906. *tr

vehicle running sluggish approx. 3 weeks prior. check engine light warning came on and immediately took vehicle to ford for a diagnostics check. vehicle had a code p0422, test ran verified evaporative system leak. i was told it was a safety issue and not drivable. fuel filler pipe was cracked and needed replacement. ford has prior recalls for this part over the years, although ford did not cover this repair. 1 week prior one of two engine fans went out requiring replacement.

The check engine light has come on 4 times in the past year. the error code relates to the capless fuel system. the dealer has reset the code and replaced a fueling tube. on 7/24/10, engine light lit and five minutes later the engine cut out while driving less than 20 mph. car restarted without issue. it is currently being serviced. *tr
