The vehicles engine makes noise as if something is caught in the engine or is having trouble shifting the entire time while driving. the car jerks aggressively when you begin to accelerate as if it is having trouble changing into gears. when trying to accelerate at times it will seem as if it looses power causing to almost come to an abrupt stop and shaking as if it is going to shut off! not the kind of trouble you should be having with a new car! i have to step off the gas pedal so that it can stop jerking. several times i have been in the middle of traffic almost having people slam into me because of the abrupt stops the car has, or me almost hitting a car because it jerks to a sudden take off when pressing the accelerator. *tr
With in 2 days of driving my new car off the lot i recognized a rattle/grinding noise coming from the left front drivers side of the car. it varies in loudness and is primarily heard at low speeds with ac and radio off. i took it into the dealer shortly after and the service guy took it for a test drive with me present to determine if it was a quick fix or normal for the car. he heard the noise and wrote a ticket for repair. next day they called me and said it was normal noise coming from the transmission. *tr
Within a few weeks of purchase, the shuddering from a stopped start increased in magnitude (i understand the transmission is supposed to act like a manual but this was too severe) and on occasion after shifting from reverse to drive there was no engagement in the transmission, stepping on accelerator only revved the engine, no movement. took the car back in, they state that is normal operation, the computer has to get used to your driving. here we are one year later, it is no better and now has a transmission leak. took back in for that and the service guy says, oh yeah we are booked way out to aug 17 (it was july 24th) on fixes for that and he mentioned it is a known issue. seems it has been known since 2011 yet the sales guys never mentioned it. evidently mine is severe enough that they got me scheduled for aug 7. they said that the transmission fluid may have gotten into the dry clutch and all would likely have to be replaced. it is great that they can continue to sell these knowing full well there are problems. *js
My ford fiesta it does not work right since i bought it new. i went back to ford car dealer they said they don't know what is wrong with it. then about 30days latter found out what is wrong with it ,i took the car in to have it fixed got it back still does the same thing . sometimes i try to get it to take off from a stop sing an it will not take of good .i am the city car in front of me slow down then the car does not want to go up the hill .when it gets warm it runs real bad .i got it going 25 mph in city i try to give it more gas and it putt putt all the time .i call ford dealers tell me bring it in nothing has helped it . they told me to hit the gas pedal hard i tried that does not help .in june 2016 got a letter in mail my door lock need to be fixed i went to ford dealer said they don't know how to fix it yet .the door opened by itself one time .it does it on highway when come to a hill to give more gas and it putt .this car the way it acts i will not sell it to any one .it will kill them or me driving it .

June 2013, ford fiesta 2013 (bought new oct 2012) began to shudder upon takeoff from a stop and also when shifting between 1st and 2nd gear. took car to dealership on july 18, 2013; they performed a software update and said (at that time) if that didn't work the clutch would have to be replaced. took car back on september 4, 2013. took mechanic out but traffic was heavy and i couldn't reproduce the exact issue. however, problems listed above still persist, and an additional issue of power loss when turning the corner at speeds of 10 mph or less has developed. *tr
Sluggish acceleration, sputtering, hard shifting upon accelerating from stop (lower gears). day after purchase of vehicle returned to dealership and/or service dept. service not available - spoke to sales who advised this is normal due to type of clutch system. was advised no service could/would be attempted. dealer suggested altering style of driving... problem has persisted and i have taken vehicle in several times, each time being told the same thing (with no diag or write up being done). on 11/24/14 while traveling over 350 miles in open desert, problem escalated to all gears and vehicle would not accelerate or decelerate properly without lurching, jerking, shuddering, etc. took to service at dealership out of home state and was advised, prior to inspection, clutch would need to be replaced as same year, make, and model coming in daily. confirmed with inspection clutch was faulty. parts on backorder at least 3 weeks and would not order on my behalf as would not be in that location to have work done there. contacted purchase dealership and confirmed backorder. requested parts be ordered but was advised they would not order until veh inspected by them (2 weeks out as out of state) and then 3 weeks at least for parts. i consider this a safety issue as lurching, jerking, etc causes veh to become unmanageable as well as effecting acceleration and stopping times. *js
Purchased the car brand new drove it home about 65 miles. wife drove it another 150 round trip out of town. we noticed a shuttering from a stop and when shifting. we were going to take it in for service but didn't have time to call them. only have had the car 6 days. then we are driving and hear a grinding/crackling noise from the left side sounds and fells as though the cv axle is going to break or something. call road side assistance and they tow it in. waiting until the am to see what they say. there is really something wrong here. my wife was driving at the time the noise and vibration almost caused us to wreck due to it scaring her when it started it. this issue needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt and should not wait until that happens. *tr

I was driving on a street in my fiesta and was at a stop. when i pressed the gas to go again the vehicle jerked forward more quicker then usual and bumped the car in front of me. i have had this car in the shop 5 times for transmission problems and no one is fixing it. i was in another accident recently when i pressed the gas and the car did not accelerate while i was turning in front of traffic. i could have been killed, my car was hit due to me not accelerating. *tr
I purchased my 2013 ford fiesta 3 weeks ago with 37 miles on it. my first incident happend at approximately 620 miles where the car started hesitating when i would attempt to accelerate to pass a car on the highway and occasionally when pressing the gas pedal to accelerate from a stopped point. the car now, with 750 miles sputters and jerks and lunges, as it seems has been a very common problem for these cars for a few years now. i took the car to the dealership last saturday after it happend a few times. they told me there may be a leak in the transmission clutch, but ultimately came back saying the transmission needed an "update" and they processed that. i picked the car up. on the way home, it was much worse. it jerks almost everytime i pull away from a red light/stopped position. it is once again at the dealer. i spoke with the dealer service manager. he tells me this problem is more common with the ford focus and that he really feels my transmission needs to be "worn in" until 1500 miles and that they will look at it, but likely not do anything...that i basically need to drive the car and deal with it. i am extremely concerned for safety reasons to drive this car. i feel that i just bought this car, it should not have problems like this. it also was not disclosed to me on test drive/prior to purchase about this "new" double clutch auto manual transmission..which i feel is a disgrace to ford and their products. i am waiting for the dealership to call me and tell me it's "fine" and see what the next step needs to be..because this is a problem! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while driving 20 mph, a grinding sound was heard coming from the front driver's side of the vehicle. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer. the dealer stated that the sound that was coming from the transmission was normal. the contact did not call the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 1,100.
Transmission slips, chugs, grinds, hesitates, jerks, fails to accelerate and bogs out each time before slamming into gear, jerking the car forward quickly, then fails to decelerate when engaging the breaks causing very near rear end wrecks. on highway at 55-65 mph, car is unable to down shift properly. the vehicle has been brought to the dealership 5 times and i'm told it's how i'm driving the vehicle, nothing is wrong. after 5 visits, ford dealerships will not see the vehicle. simply telling me "if i don't like it, trade it in". the car is worthless, and therefore "trading it in" would be throwing more money away.
On march 30 i bought a brand new car 2013 ford fiesta, the car started making grinding noise the second day upon takeoff from a stop, and also when shifting at slower speeds. i took the car to the dealer only one week after the purchase. they told me that the noises were normal. one month after i heard the grinding noises more frequently at first and second gear, rough grinding, i took the car back to the dealer for some days, after this, they told me some noises are normal and gave me an explanation letter from ford, the characteristics they talk about are different from the ones i heard, but they told me i should wait until 5k miles. after 6400 miles, i took the car back again explaining that the car is making louder noises not only from 5 to 15mph but i also heard the sound even at 60mph, the car shakes from time to time during the louder noises and this noises sounds different every day, different sounds for the same shift, and now, this sounds are longer, from 3 seconds up to 50 second or more, this is not a shift. i have read the letter from ford and they say a slight grinding noise, that is not the description for a sound which last more than 30 sec (distance more than 1500 feet with a grinding noises). i also explain that, i drove a fiesta with only 6 miles, same year, transmission and temperature but different sounds. this one made a light grinding noise just as the ford letter describes. their response, the noises can be different from car to car'. but the diagnostic tips' from ford's letter says; the car has to be compared with a likely vehicle, in order to determine if the noises are normal or not'. i believe the ford fiesta doesn't have the same quality. after checking the car by the 3rd time and loaded an upgrade for the software, they told me that everything is normal, but to date, this upgrade didn't work at all. *tr
Transmission started shuddering shifting into 2nd gear. i believe it is also doing the samething going into 4th gear. uphill sometimes it can't get out of it's own way. had no problems until now. car was fun to drive and getting 40mpg. taking it to dealer tomorrow. we'll see. *tr
Transmission jerks aggressively from 1-3 gear. sometimes acceleration is delayed and sluggish. has almost caused a wreck on several occasions. also, the delayed reaction causes the car to lurch forward and the engine revs up high causing the breaks to fail. so you must drive with more distance than normal to avoid collision. i had one car completely replaced. transmission was completely shot after 400 miles. grinding, slipping, jerking, clunking, hesitation, etc. this transmission is a piece of junk. both cars had the same problems. *tr
I have had nothing but transmission problems with this car since the first day i bought it and drove it home. i am part of the law suit against ford with the transmission case
When i first drove the car it was so smooth and quiet; but that didn't last very long. after about a week a heard a grinding noise in the transmission, and the car began stuttering when i tried to accelerate. the grinding noise began to get worse as the week went on. i hear it when i am slowing down, and beginning to accelerate again. i took it to the ford dealership where it was bought, and they told me it was normal and did not even attempt to fix it. i took it that exact same day to another ford dealership, because it was still making the exact same grinding sound. the mechanic there test-drove it and said that it was not normal to be hearing that sound. he said it sounded like something was about to fall out. i read online about many problems with the fiesta transmission; and i want to know what ford is going to do about it. a sound like that and stuttering does not leave me to feel safe while driving. *tr
Bought 2013 ford fiesta on 5/16/13 with 40 miles on it. after the second day driving it started hearing a grinding and rubbing type noise from front left side of car. took it to one dealer who told me it definitely has something wrong with the transmission but since i did not buy it there they cant help me. so the next day took it to the place i bought it. the more the car was driven the worse this condition got! with 700 miles on the car the dealer at first told me there was nothing wrong, but after a ride along the story changed fast. after 4 days i contacted ford about a buy-back since they did not know what the issue was. at 1 week in the shop i was told they wont do a buy back but fix the car when they know what the issue is. now i got a call that its a known issue with the car and has a tsb on it. we will see if this works i guess. *tr
Merged onto highway. car would not speed up to highway speed (65) and started jerking back and forth - seemed like transmission issue. was in danger of being hit from behind by other cars. jerking decreased in frequency and was able to speed up after about a 1/2 mile, but basic problem continued. drove approximately 6 miles to dealership where i bought the car. turned car off and went inside to talk to service technician. he got in the car with me and we drove it for a couple of miles. the problem did not recur on drive. i was told this was a typical problem and the remedy was to turn the key to off position and reboot the computer. i pointed out that this could not be done while driving on a highway! i was not informed of any relevant service bulletins or scheduled for any repairs. *tr
With a new 2013 fiesta the trans started making grinding noise at slower speeds with a light foot. first and second gear would be very rough grinding and slow to move. took the car in and they tried to tell me some noise is normal, so i made the service adviser drive it. well they had it for 6 weeks to rebuild the trans. 3 weeks later the noise was back. ford did a reprogram on the computer. this went on for 3 months of them telling me the noise is normal. i finally bugged them enough that they took the trans apart and found that the gears were charred and had lots of play in them. so after another 4 weeks in the shop they replaced it in oct '13 a week after the replacement the car still hesitates when starting to move from a stop. ford's people are still saying its "normal" car had 8000 miles when trans was replaced. *tr
Harsh shifting of transmission, or other transmission shifting complaints/problems. loss of power on initial take-off from a stop or from low speeds. the feeling of the transmission "slipping". harsh or delayed engagement of transmission "jerking" or "shuddering" upon take-off from a stop the more persons are in the car and a/c turned on, the worse the problem. *tt
Consistent grinding of the part in the transmission when starting and driving up to 35 mph. first through fourth gear grinding with jerkiness throughout. *tr
Bought a 2013 ford fiesta brand new and i have had nothing but issues with it. it feels like something is getting caught when i try to accelerate and then when it does accelerate it jerks, and grinds and all sorts of other noises. when i am in stop-go traffic it feels like it is bouncing up and down and at points i am being jerked in my seat along with the car. going up a hill is the worst of all because it makes noises and sounds/feels like it is going to stall- sometimes just trying to get up a hill feels like i am trying to drive through thick mud. i have taken it back to ford several times and they tell me it is nothing. one time the lady who was scheduling the appointment told me that her car does it but it is normal and something that you have to get used to because of the transmission. when i get my sheet back after i have had it in the shop they barely and vaguely acknowledge how they checked the problem and state they couldn't find anything. there is no way that it is normal to be apprehensive when driving your brand new car because you are not sure that you are going to be able to accelerate in time to pull out into traffic. *tr
Loud, clunking noise and feel while braking pulling into parking spots. it felt like the front end was going to fall out. *tr
For the first 9,000 miles everything worked well. then trouble. now, out of the blue, the vehicle stutters, or shudders, sometimes quite violently at various times when shifting through the gears. it's happened in all six gears. there are times when the engine fails to respond to the gas pedal, usually when pulling away from a stop light, until it's depressed beyond where it should be, and then the car will suddenly "catch" and lurch forward. all of this happens at random times throughout the day, but never when the car has just started and is still cold. i do a lot of interstate highway driving, and on two occasions, the slow response to the gas pedal put me at real risk. i'm taking the car to the dealer tomorrow to get this fixed. *tr
During test drive, car ran well but it was not really warmed up. sales and management never mentioned transmission issues with this dual clutch 6 speed power shift transmission. after the first week...it began shuddering when starting from a dead stop. i took it into the dealer where i bought it and was told it will go away after 1,000 miles as the clutch is "green". they even printed a technical service bulletin from ford about the problem. if it persists their transmission guy said he could update the software (about 1 1/2 hours and a whole lot of procedures that have to be spot on). now it also finds false neutrals with the engine revving like it is out of gear between 1st and 3rd. also, the ride is very jerky back and forth at lower speeds and very bad when the a/c in on. this is primarily my wife's car and i don't feel it is at all safe for her to drive. i sat down with one of the managers and asked about a buy back by ford...he told me there was nothing available. i also found that capstone law apc has initiated a class action suit and have signed on, here is their website: http://capstonelawyers.com/ we paid $17,840 delivered for this car and i'd like it all back and we'll be happy to sign off on the title and surrender the car to ford. *tr
When i take off from a stop, using light or hard acceleration, the automatic transmission exhibits an intermittent transmission violent shudder, which shakes the car and causes hesitation on acceleration, creating a safety hazard. this has caused me several near misses trying to cross traffic because the transmission hesitation and shutter, causes delay in acceleration across on coming traffic. because of this, i do not let my teenagers drive the car. the car has now developed leaking transmission fluid. 2013 fiesta. i have taken the car to the dealer several times, they say its normal, simply reprogram the transmission, and hand me a paper from ford which says the phenomena is normal. ive never herd of an automatic transmission that shifted so poorly and violently as normal. Transmission issues since purchasing the car brand new in 2013. car jerks and accelerates sporadically. when taking off from a stop the car does not respond to pushing on the gas, but will then suddenly take off. it moves through the gears in a clunky manner. makes grinding noises upon acceleration. the car rolls back on hills. i do not feel safe driving this car. ford have no responded in a helpful manner to my enquires and appear not to be able to fix the problem. *tr
When at a stop or slow roll and then give it gas the transmission feels like it slipping or a hesitation , so when your beginning to take off or merger into traffic it feels like its going to stop. this can cause me to get in an accident. took car into dealer he said there was no slippage and that the transmission does not have a torque converter . what ever the problem is it,s been doing it from day one, im worried that my wife might get into an accident from this problem. something is wrong with this and it needs to be fixed, the car shakes when it does this also all at the same time. *tr
This was a brand new 2013 ford fiesta purchased on april 2013 that has always intermittently stuttered / bogged on acceleration with sometimes a metal noise. i was told this was due to the "new" type of double clutch transmission designed to improve gas mileage. clutch was already replaced once and i was told yesterday clutch needs to be replaced again. i took the car in to the shop a month ago as the car was stuttering on acceleration fairly badly and told then they couldn't find a problem.
I'm writing about our 6 month old 2013 fiesta, 11,000 miles. i love it except the 6 speed automatic transmission. most of the time the shifting is smooth, but there are periods of time, say a day or two, that it shudders going into first gear, then second. the other day i was starting up a gravel driveway (uphill), and the transmission finally engaged right about halfway up the driveway, and i almost ran into the house i was visiting because of the surprise. it's almost as if the transmission is slipping. to me, this is a safety issue. both my wife and i feel very uneasy about this and don't think it should be called normal. we had the 10,000 mile inspection, complained about it then, but they didn't find any problem - but then again, it was saturday afternoon. an analogy to this is an athlete getting ready to run at the start line. if he stumbles, he may trip and fall, and for sure will not do well in the competition. *tr
2013 ford fiesta. consumer writes in regards to vehicle automatic transmission shifting problems. *smd there was a leak coming from the transmission output shaft seal. the shaft seal and clutches were replaced. the consumer continued to experience problems. *jb ma 10/5 updated 10/17/2017*cn
When starting to accelerate the car will begin to shutter and act like it wants to die and then it will stop and continue to shift and accelerate without a problem. this is an ongoing problem between speeds of 10-25 miles per hr. the most time it will perform these problems is when the car has been driven over an hour or in hot n humid temperatures. the shuttering and attempting to die is getting worse. when examined by ford dealership they discover no problem and suggested i live with the problem or better yet baby the car. idid not pay $26000 to baby a car that has a bad transmission. unless a reliable suggestion is given me on how ford will fix the car i will consult an attorney in the near future. *tr
When shifting into second and third, it shudders like driving on a corrugated road. during this time, the car accelerates only very slowly. i am afraid that i am going to need to get out of someone's way or trying to pull onto a road, get stuck unable to accelerate and be hit. this is with the 6-speed double dry clutch transmission on the ford fiesta. the car only has 14,000 miles on it. *tr
I was at the light. the light turned green. the car lunged as i entered and almost hit a pedestrian. i now have 9785 miles.i have already got them to fix the transmission and 590 miles later it was back to the same thing. it lunges. it grinds a tow speed. it is a nightmare. i know i am not the only one complaining. please do something before someone dies. *tr
I own a 2013 ford fiesta. we bought it new off the lot. a month after purchase the vehicle's transmission started to sputter and fail to shift into gear. several times it was a little nerve racking and unsafe because the vehicle would fail to accelerate in a timely manner. this is a big problem when you try to merge with traffic or pass another vehicle, or even travel through an intersection. we have taken the vehicle to ford 4 different times to get fixed and nothing seems to work, it just gets worse. now the vehicle shakes when the transmission tries to shift, my wife had to pull over and stop on the freeway because the vehicle would not shift into a gear. she almost got hit by another vehicle. *tr
I bought a 2013 ford fiesta in march. after driving it for about a week or two i noticed a rattling noise and some jerking when the car shifts gears. i took it to montebello ford where i bought the car and they told me that was normal and because of the transmission it uses. i didn't believe them so i took it to another dealership in alhambra and they told me they couldn't find a problem. i recently took it in for a oil leak problem and ask if they could check the transmission again. they acknowledged that there was a problem this time and said they did a update to the system and some adjustments to fix the transmission, but after that the problem got even worse. it jerks even more now. ( it jerks so much in traffic i feel like i'm getting car sick) i plan to take it back next week but i would like to report this problem to someone so hopefully they can do a recall or something and get this problem fixed. *jb
Vehicle when starting from a stopped position will hesitate and shutter the front end and when u keep going past the third gear it will come out of the shuttering. also wants to stutter when applying gas and acts like its going to stop. have had the plastic clutch pack replaced in october 2013 but car is worse when accelerating from a stop or lower speed and wanting to accelerate or go faster. the car still shutters hard and acts like wants to die in traffic flow and now car is making grinding and rattle every time accelerating from a speed of 0-30 miles per hr. i want this fixed because this car will not last me until it gets paid off. ford needs to take note that this 6 pack clutch system is not working for this type of vehicle. i will b getting an attorney if it gets to the point of this cost coming out of my pocket. shuttering really bad , grinding noise , rattling noise, cutting out like it wants to die, i have seen the first burnt part they replaced in my car and wonder why ford motor company would install a plastic piece inside a metal part. also my headlights and windows are somehow connected together. headlights are not positioned properly to see more then 1/2 car length in front of vehicle. also radiator was loose and ready to fall out of car after driving vehicle 2 weeks.

Took my car in beginning of feb 2014 that is when they would have a car for me. they ended up replacing the clutch in transmission.. days later it started making the grinding rubbing noise on my way to rich's auto for them to check my car. they test drove my car definitely making noise as car is shifting, i left there went to the store the noise was so loud that i felt lucky to get home. ford co service rep for my area makes an appt for a week later. barely heard the noise on my way there but the car now hesitates to accelerate while driving to pass slower cars. got to 6-8 rpms and advance 1 mph in 5-10 sec. the dealership service dept. could find anything wrong everything is within the limits by ford standard. i do not feel safe driving my car and have requested a return. the worse mistake i made was purchasing the car. *tr
The transmission continues to shudder and shake especially in lower gears. its causing a unsafe driving experience. i have owned my ford fiesta for years now (bought it off the lot brand new) . now i have almost 120,000 miles on the vehicle. i have had the clutch "reset" several times but the problem continues. i have also brought it to the dealership two times when ford - free of charge decided to replace the clutch and components all together. the last replacement which occurred about a year ago was supposed to be a permanent fix . unfortunately it is not a fix at all . its sad to say but i have gotten used to the defect in the car at this point. i have been driving it with moments when the car feels like it wont move ! . almost all the passengers in the car always comment on the noise - clanking of the clutch and always the bucking sound. they usually say a comment like "damn you need a new car" or "its junk man". at this point as i get more miles on the car i bought it with the intent of owning the car for many years to come. however, with the power train components being unsafe it makes it hard. i tried to contact ford customer service of the issue just the other day and i have an open case number. but they refereed me that they are aware of the situation and has placed a 150k mile warranty on the parts. but my argument is what happens after the 150k miles and it does it to the point where it cant move anymore. or better yet what if it causes an accident from the poor performance of the power train. attached is what my ford owners .com for my car states about the extended warranty. vin: [xxx] fsa title: transmission clutch shudder / transmission input shaft seal warranty extension field service action number: 14m01 vin: [xxx] fsa title: transmission control module extended warranty coverage i just want a fix for this issue information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
