We have classified the 315 complaints from 2013 Ford Fiesta about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Transmission hesitates and crackles when accelerating from stops. check engine light constantly on.
From a stop sign making a right turn onto a highway my 2013 ford fiesta now decides to make loud grinding noises from the 6 speed auto transmission when accelerate to normal highway speed hesitates and almost was rear ended from the vehicle behind me had to quickly pull to the right of the road before merging back on the highway . have taken to the dealer three times for unusual transmission slippage, and noises waiting on a back order dual clutch kit part ,1700 hundred on back order was told may take up to 6 months for this part to arrive. *tr
Transmission made distracting grinding noises and dangerous lunging lurching unsteady intermittent movements during city driving. *tr
First noticed a leak stain on my drive so took it in ford dealership they didnt put it on hoist just laid under it said oh no its fine so i drove it longer took it in to local speed lube to get oil change and they wouldnt touch it saying that i was leaking transmission fluid so i drove it straight to ford dealership finally they put it on hoist and said oh yeah it is leaking i have a list of everything they did to it ( but its in the car and the car is currently back in shop so i dont have it with me) picked it up several days later on the way back to work the engine light comes on again so i take it back they say it was the computer stuff needs reset so by the end of my workday i picked it up about a mile it seemed fine next day engine light comes on again the car was jerking would not eccellerate almost got into a wreck took it right back to shop 4th time now...at one point while driving it my son was with me and asks what are you doing mom i tell him its not me its the car and i know its suppose to shift and it has since i've bought it but never like this.... *tr
Have owned this car for a year. past few months having lots of difficulty going from stop to 1st gear. hesitates, shakes, makes grinding and scary noises when shifting. was driving up a hill and the car would not shift in a low gear which was the reason for getting it in to the dealer in a hurry. the car is dangerous, it hesitates. it is scary to pull out in traffic and not have the car go when it should. now my car is sitting at the ford dealer for almost 3 weeks and they cannot get the parts to repair the transmission. they cannot give me a date as to when my car will be fixed. i have lost all confidence in the car, i want my money back. the car scares me and i don't want to drive it anymore. *tr
Delivered on 7/8/13 dealer: jersey city ford. dear ford, we are upset over the repeated problems with our 2013 ford fiesta, brand new on 7/18/2013. the car has been bucking, grinding and almost stalling. when we called to complain or ask questions we were told that this was normal. the next call and visit for repair we were told it was the new transmission/ power shift on the fiestas & focus. also informed there was an "open recall" on a part that is involved in the clutch of these new vehicles. they say it sounds/drives and feels like a manual transmission but its good on gas. well, the problem with this is, we turned in a 2011 ford focus se with this same transmission that is in the 2013 cars and no way did we have these problems. here are the following times we went to jc ford repair: oct 18, 2013 - same day states problem with transmission. may 2, 2014 - oil change, complained about transmission but not on documents. may 21, 2014 - left car for a reboot of electronics on the car and picked the vehicle up on may 23, 2014. they ordered part due to "hesitation and shutter" in transmission (they said it was the clutch; open recall on a part). may 28, 2014 left vehicle at ford for replacement of parts and reboot of electronics, picked vehicle up on june 4, 2014. when we picked up the car on june 4th, 2014, my wife pulled out of the garage and went 3 blocks and turned back to the ford garage. [xxx], the repair section manager called the mechanic that did the repair and had him take a test drive with her. the car sounded and ran worse than when we brought it in and had a new sound, the front end or wheels were making noise, brakes were shaky and the same transmission problem sound was still there. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle hesitated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure and stated that the transmission operated as normal. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 300.
While pulling out of a gas station parking lot into traffic the transmission sputtered and paused for about 2 seconds almost causing the on coming traffic to hit my car. there was almost no room for the on coming car to go around me. near miss from being hit on the drivers door from the front of the on coming car. *tr
On 10-9-13 only after a year owning the car i started having serious issues with the transmission so i took it in to ford to have it looked at. the car shifting became very harsh and there is considerable jerking, clinking and vibration. ford at the time performed a reprogramming but this did not solved the issue. i took the card back to ford on 11-7-13 to complain again because the noise and clunking had become worse to the point i was not feeling safe driving the car. ford reprogrammed once again and ordered the parts needed to rebuild the transmission clutch. on 12-10-13 loud banging noise had become extreme and ford took the car in and performed extensive work on the transmission replacing the clutch assembly and seals. according to the invoice there was a leak at the bell housing (input seals leaked) allowing the clutch to be oil soaked. on 9-11-14 i took the car in because the transmission had failed again displaying the same issues. ford agreed to repair and ordered the parts needed however i was told it might take over a month. after waiting nearly two months i was forced to take the car in again on 11-7-14 because the noise and clunking is excessive to the point i do not feel safe. this was only augmented with the fact last month the rear diver side latch broke and yesterday the other latch broke. ford service manager agreed completely the fiestas and focus are not safe and they have a backlog of transmissions to repair. he offered me to complain to ford and gave me the phone number. he suggested i called and file a complaint and attempt to return the car. i am extremely dissatisfied and will pursue resolution by having ford take the car back. i cannot expose my family and my own safety because ford would not come forward and recall all these defects at once. *tr
The transmission grinds and rattles at 35-45 mph. transmission serviced under tsb# 14-0131 to no avail. *tr
I purchased my 2013 ford fiesta from a dealership in may of 2013, in october of 2013, my not even 6 month old car, started to make grinding and crunching noises in the engine and the transmission was slipping. i called the dealership and took it in. they replaced the transmission and after 8 weeks, i picked it up. the noises were gone, but quickly came back a couple months later, i kept getting told it was normal, but it has gotten worse. i am trying to work with my dealership now to quickly get this resolved. i am also only getting 25 mpg. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while attempting to move into the next lane, the power steering assist failed and the vehicle jolted abnormally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure where a diagnostic was performed each time but to no avail and the dealer advised the contact that the transmission was operating normally. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 50 and the current mileage was 34,000.
Transmission shudders, lurches and loss of power
I leased this as my first new car. when i first purchased it, i loved it. as time went on, i noticed that my car would start to jerk as i'd accelerate and the shifting was never smooth. when i had an oil change, i asked about it and was told that because it was converted from a manual to an automatic (like all the automatic fiestas), it felt like i was shifting gears. i'm not too good with cars, so i trusted ford. it got worse over time and to this day they say that it is normal. i've went in twice for recalls and services on my car. they still say it's normal. this is not normal. i've opted to lease another car because i am so unhappy with my ford. i still have it, but i don't like to drive it. if i had to do it again, i would never lease a ford. it feels like i've wasted my money and they do not care about their customers. *tr
I am experiencing issues with my 2013 ford fiesta se. i have noticed that between speeds of 5 and above that there is a crunching noise coming from the engine. the car also lunges when shifting or slowing down making it harder to stop. i have called ford's consumer care hotline and was told this is a normal trait for the vehicle, but when i explained that when i test drove the car, it did not do any of this. the car now has 1300 miles on it and it seems that the crunching, lunging and hesitation is getting worse. i feel like i have been ripped off by ford motor company for not being advised of this issue before hand. i put my trust in ford and evidently that was the wrong thing to do. *tr
Going up a steep hill in morning rush hour bumper to bumper. my car stall, stopped and the automatic transmission would not engage. this caused me to graze the bumper of the car next to me and put a few very small scratches on the rear left side of the car. no accident report needed. the damage was so minor it was only visible at a close look. polish seem to cover it. my car would not start moving until cars a head of me gave me enough safe space to push hard on the accelerator and get the automatic transmission to kick in.this could have caused an accident. not life threatening but someone could have seriously been hurt. *tr
When changing lanes, which required me to accelerate while merging into faster-moving traffic, the car's transmission made a lot of noise and the rpm's were high, but the car did not accelerate (this occurred twice in one day). oncoming traffic came close to hitting me, and it was frightening. *tr
-while driving my car i noticed a grinding sound in the transmission as i tried to accelerate when i pulled off. not only did i hear a grinding sound, the car also started jerking as if it was going to stall out. i returned the vehicle to the dealer where
Had trouble shifting gears from a stop position. presently it has trouble shifting not only in low gears but all the way up to 50mls pr hr. when slowing down it jerks and hesitates. in oct 2014 took it back to repair and was told needed new clutch due to internal oil seal leak contamination .nine months later the manufacturer has still neglected to repair it, i have been told due to backorder of parts. it has only 20,000k on it.
While at a stop on a freeway entrance ramp i saw an opening and gently stepped on the gas. i should have had easy entrance to the freeway but my car transmission would not start the car moving until i stepped on the excellrator to the floor. the on coming car coming behind me had to make a very dangerous lane change to keep from slamming into the back of the car. there was no damage to either car and the car behind continued.
Dual clutch automatic transmission exhibited erratic, shaky and shuddered shifting through all gear ranges...characteristic with ford's tsb's 11-12-13, 12-04-06, 13-4-5, and 13-9-4. after having to justify the issue to two dealerships (was an actual problem and not me driving incorrect or understanding the transmission) ford replaced the clutch packs and seals due to leak on 26 sep 2013. additionally, ford gave me (at no cost) an extended powertraincare (5 year/100,000 mile) warranty. luckily nobody was injured due to this transmission issue, and the vehicle drove fine after repair! i thought all this was resolved until ford sent me a letter (aug 2014) stating that customer satisfaction program 14m01 was extending warranty on the fiesta powershift transmission to 7 years/100,000 miles? and, now we're at 22 sep 2014 (21,700 miles) and the transmission is starting to exhibit the exact issues as it did just before the first failure. i've contacted ford and scheduled a service appointment for this new issue. further did some research and found that ford has redesigned the clutch system (since my last fix), and issued tsb 14-01-31. that's five tsb's plus two warranty extensions in 5 years...and still no recall?? in my opinion, ford rushed this transmission into market (not fully tested), and we (the consumer) became the test subjects!! again, luckily nobody has been injured or killed (that i know of yet)! *tr
When i took my car in for an oil change they said my oil was leaking so i took it into a ford dealership. the dealership put some dye in my engine fluid and told me to bring it back after i drove another 500 miles. when i brought it back in they said my transmission had a leak. while driving it for the past few months i've also noticed it sputtering when i accelerate. this has seemed to worsen since taking it in as well. my car is constantly stalling when i make left turns or start going after being stopped or slowing down. i am very concerned and scared that while i am driving with my 3 year old in the backseat it will stall just a little too long and cause an accident harming him. there have been some close calls already and i am not happy to discover many people are having this problem with the 2013 ford fiestas. this car is not safe for anyone to drive. *tr
At a green light about to turn left i started my turn. m y transmission pause before making the turn. the on coming car had to swerve to miss me and almost crashed into another car. since there was no contact all cars continued with out stopping.
On 02/27/2015 my ford fiesta with 20,904 miles was taken in for a transmission issue that became potentially life threatening. when my wife approached an intersection to make a left hand turn and came to a stop the engine began to shutter and bog down. the idle picked up but the engine almost stalled. when traffic cleared my wife attempted the apply pressure to the throttle pedal but the vehicle only moved forward at about 2mph. with more traffic headed toward us (35mph zone) about 50yards away. my wife lifted to her foot off the throttle to apply again, the car suddenly lurched forward with my wife's foot off the pedal. the same issue happened while driving on windy mountain roads. the vehicle will become hesitant the lurch or bog down.we had this vehicle in for the same fix on 09/09/2013. the dealership took the vehicle on a road test and diagnosed the transmission needed a software upgrade. the cars transmission still had minor problems that the dealership stated as "normal". the diagnosis of my vehicle now is that the clutch needs to be replaced but a road test wasn't even done to the vehicle. a ford "specialist" diagnosed the problem with a computer stating he could only get the engine to shutter. i don't understand how a proper diagnostic can be done if the car is not driven on the road. the dealership service department cannot tell me when the vehicle will be fixed and told i can pick the car up and drive it until the clutch comes in. obviously not caring about the customers safety and the fact we told the service department about the potentially deadly situation that occurred a rental vehicle was not offered cause they feel the car is safe to drive. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle began to slip gears in a jerking motion. the failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who informed the contact that the failure was contributed to the transmission. the parts that were replaced consisted of both snap rings, rear splendor plate and nuts. the failure continued after the repair was performed. the vehicle was not further repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
Transmission jerks, jumps, hesitates and makes horrible grinding noise. transmission was completely rebuilt at 13000 miles, but within 5000 miles it was doing the exact same thing. i feel very unsafe at time, especially in low gears. i fear i will turn left and the car will stall or that it will jump forward so hard i may rear end someone. *tr
Two problems: 1) when trying to accelerate gently from a stop (as in a 4-way stop situation) the vehicle engages violently and surges forward. i have to react quickly in this situation and slam on the brakes to avoid hitting the car in front of me. 2) when trying to accelerate to merge into traffic, the car revs (transmission makes a lot of noise) but does not accelerate. i have had dangerous situations when i could not accelerate and cars were coming up on me quickly. *tr
The 2013 ford fiesta dual-clutch transmission is faulty and unsafe. it shifts hard, stalls, slips, skips, jumps and shakes. i have had my car for 14 months and ford has replaced the clutch 3 times and transmission seals once and it still has all these problems. *tr
Ford fiesta transmission. i have been a long standing ford customer and have tried to stand bye the company but i can no longer be silent regarding my experience with the transmission in this car. i have had the car repeatability repaired, the car has put me at risk multiple times, ford has not been truthful with me along the way. i have communicated directly to ford my concerns and they have left me with a car that is unsafe, unreliable nor should i try to dump on some unsuspecting person. the company, court system and the federal government needs to work together to get people out of these cars asap. this is wrong and everyone knows it but nothing is being done, if this information needs to go to another federal agency, please share this with them. this car has been a defective safety hazard since day one since i bought it, 8/22/13 and it has nor will it ever be right. please get involved with this systematic safety failure.
We were at a light and when it turned green we accelerated to approx. 15 mph and suddenly we lost momentum. a semi truck behind us locked up its wheel and luckily we started moving again or he would have drilled us. *tr
Transmission slips, chugs, grinds, hesitates, jerks, fails to accelerate and bogs out each time before slamming into gear, jerking the car forward quickly, then fails to decelerate when engaging the breaks causing very near rear end wrecks. on highway at 55-65 mph, car is unable to down shift properly. the vehicle has been brought to the dealership times cleaned and replace clutch or programmed. still not shifting properly
We bought a 2013 ford fiesta in august of 2013. not three weeks into owning it, we had some troubles and the car wouldn't start. it turns out there was a bad fuel pump that needed to be replaced. while it was being replaced, i was given a ford loaner to drive for almost a week, while they had the car to replace the fuel pump.??the transmission has been looked at 3 different times. the first time the service rep said that there was some kind of liquid on some part that makes it not change gears quickly and that they wiped it off and it should be good but that it can come back. the second time they said they reworked the computer and the car needs a chance to ?get to know the way i drive? and they sent me away. the third time they looked at the transmission, they said nothing was wrong and that the loud, crunchy, jumpy things i am experiencing are called "normal for the car" and they send me away. they refused to do anything else and someone higher up in the service department printed out a notice about ford fiesta transmissions to assure me that the sounds and jerking i was experiencing was normal when we receive the survey for our experience, of course we give a negative rating. we did not get a service that we feel we were due and the car does not drive as promised. the next time i brought it in for the same issues, our rep, [xxx] told me that ?we screwed her on that survey and that her job is on the line with things like that ? if she gets anything lower than excellent?. well, sorry, our experience was not excellent. we are not happy with the way the car drives, it sputters from idle to first gear and is sometimes unsafe when you need to turn into oncoming traffic. but we were told it was all in our heads and even that we should learn to drive it differently. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I bought the 2013 fiesta in august of 2013. with 500 miles on it the transmission was lurching, clanking, and grinding. i took it to the dealer and they told me it was normal and they wouldn't even look at it. i also complained that the car was only getting 25mpg highway when it claimed 40. they said it was in the window for epa, and it would get better after 1500 miles. i complained to the main ford customer service and they told me there was nothing they could do. i now have $14k miles on it and it still averages 20-25mpg highway. i had to take the car to them at $12k miles to fix the engine malfunction. when i called the mechanic he already knew what it was, which means it happens a lot. the engine still lurches, clanks, grinds, etc. i'm $8k upside down on trade in already because the value of this car has dropped so much in the last year due to all these issues. *tr
Was accelerating after a stoplight, and suddenly after much hesitation, the vehicle lurched forward violently and shuddered. it continued doing this at every stop-and-go for well over a year, as well as making horrific grinding noises, and started dragging horribly recently. i took it in for clutch/seal replacement as indicated by a letter from ford, and got the vehicle back yesterday. it isn't lurching as much, but never shifts into sixth gear (it never did before either) and now vibrates at high speeds, as well as making a noise only describable as "a barrel rolling down a road". i am in the midst of a complaint case with ford, and am also researching a class-action lawsuit/have submitted my story for a lawyer working on a suit. i have almost had multiple wrecks in the last year due to these issues, and as i am a photographer, i carry expensive company equipment in my car daily. this vehicle puts my equipment and myself at risk. my own demand is for ford to buy the car back, or at least pay it off so i can sell it, and recall the car or at least the transmission. this car was a horrible mistake to build. who puts two three-speed manual transmissions together with electrical wiring and calls it a six-speed automatic? someone who's trying to be cheap, that's who. with no regard for the safety of customers. *tr
The automatic transmission causes problems, and ford has worked on it many times but hasn't fixed it.they replace the 'clutch' in the a/t and reprogram the a/t, but the problem remains. the transmission/clutch slips; causing the car to briefly lose power, then the car lurches forward when the a/t grabs 3-4 seconds later. the danger is two-fold. a) when you are stopped - for example - at a 4-way stop sign. you start to go, the car looses power and slows down; someone else thinks you are yielding to them and they go - meanwhile, the fiesta's a/t grabs and suddenly lurches forward. this has caused a near crash several times. b) when you are at a stop sign or stop light with a car behind you. when safe, you start to move forward, the car loses power and slows, and the car behind you ends up slamming on its brakes to avoid hitting you. this has led to some near misses. the car is unsafe. thank you. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated and the transmission slipped. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was stated that the vehicle was functioning normally. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was not available.
I bought this car in aug 2013 car began hesitating and jerking when trying to accelerate. my car has been in the service department more than 4 or 5 times within 3 years and for the same issue. the problem is the transmission clutch and it needs to be replaced, the last time it took almost a week to get the parts and to replaced it. this is really inconvenient especially the first few times they did not provide no loaner. buying this car was a total loss of money because as soon as this warranty ends, i will end up paying for these repairs. ford is doing anything about it with the exception of replacing the clutch if there is still warranty.
Was at a complete stop. went to step on gas to turn right and the car would not go above 7 mph for about 8 seconds, then it shifted hard into second gear and sped down the street. i completed 4 more turns around the block of my housing track and at all 4 it did the same thing until i reached my driveway and had it towed to a dealer. *tr
I pulled into a parking space, immediately put the car in reverse, still had my foot on the brake, started to move my foot to step on the gas and the car lurched forward. the lurch was strong enough to go over a speed bump. i was able to stop the car (it had gone approximately 10 feet). i put the car into drive and was able to drive forward out of the area. it started to do the same thing again yesterday but i was prepared for it and slammed down on the brake stopping it. reverse is a long way from drive so i am not sure what is happening. i had the car into the dealer where i bought the car earlier because of the loud grinding noise coming from the front left side, first they told me it was a cable then they told me it was the transmission and nothing to worry about, that the noise was normal. also the car rolls back on even the slightest incline and you have to keep your foot on the brake or you will hit the car behind you. the transmission does not seem to be operating correctly, slipping or something. i now have a note in the car and whenever i put it into reverse i am monitoring it because i would like to know exactly what is happening and at what point. it happened so quickly the first time that i was more in shock than anything else and just relieved that i was able to stop it and that it caused no damage to anyone or anything, even the car itself.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated and lunged forward. the vehicle was taken to the dealer multiple times where the technician diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 15,426 and the current mileage was 20,300.
When trying to take off car almost shuts off and then all of the sudden picks back up and takes off. sometimes coming out of first gear the gas sticks and chugs like it isn't getting gas just going down the highway. it is so bad that if you want to take off into traffic you have to cut the air off or heat to get all the power you can. if you have the ac on and make a turn and shift down you have to go a gear lower if the ac is on . then it chugs along until it catches up. *tr
I picked up this vehicle brand- new from the dealership on 8/2/13. by 8/5, three days after i got the car, the entire front end had started to shudder and chug, and the "check engine" light came on. it felt like a deep-seated timing issue (the engine rpms had been a bit off since i picked up the car on 8/2, and it appeared to be shifting oddly, even before the check engine light came on). the clutch also engaged at odd times (i bought an automatic), and it didn't appear that the engine rpms and transmission shifting were synching up correctly at all. my diagnosis was confirmed when i took the vehicle to romano ford in syracuse, ny, where i purchased the vehicle. the next day (8/6), i was told that a "cam phaser" had failed on the engine due to a manufacturing defect, and that the engine oil would need to be completely flushed and changed. after a bit of research, i found out that the phaser is a small gear that regulates engine timing....by being cut incorrectly, metal shavings from the gear had contaminated my engine oil. this, obviously, is not an easy fix. by screwing up my engine timing, the regulation of my entire vehicle is screwed up. the car has been sitting in the shop since 8/6 (it is now 8/22), with no resolution in sight. they brought in a ford technician from god-knows-where that is supposed to fix it; it was supposed to be fixed 2 days ago to no avail. i am now closing in on the time period for invoking the ny state lemon law; i hope i can get my $ back and send this thing to the dump! ford needs to recall these crappy things asap! *tr
Ever since i bought this car back in july of 2013 it has had transmission issues. it fails to accelerate quickly, instead just grinds gears and violently shakes. ford supposedly "fixed" this 6 months ago, with the end result being actually worse. i was told it needed another part (clutch) and have been waiting 6 weeks for it, which is how long they said it would be. i just called and they said this is such a big issue that there were 35,000 of these parts on back order and it would be another 12 weeks at least until this issue is fixed. this is a huge safety concern! i have 2 little children and if a car were to swerve into my lane i would not be able to accelerate out of the way. i told this to ford and what they said is that "this hasn't happened yet" which after reading reports online, i can tell is untrue. thousands and thousands of complaints have been filed for over 4 years. they didn't offer any other assistance, except to tell me that maybe i should just trade it back in. i don't understand how this issue hasn't been addressed yet. and it is shocking to see how little ford cares for the safety of their customers.
My 2013 ford fiesta se hatchback has acceleration issues i believe will cause me to be in an accident. while accelerating into traffic the vehicle can down shift or "bog down", causing me to lose acceleration and nearly causing collisions. had it not been for the defensive driving of the other drivers i definitely would have been in an accident. *tr
I purchased my 2013 fiesta new off the car lot. it was the biggest mistake ever. it has been in the repair shop twice for clutch replacements. i was in an accident the last time because it hesitated and then took off and ran in to the car in front of me. ford didn't care about the accident. i had to argue with them to get a car to drive while they fixed my car yet again. it has again started hesitating and then excelling quickly and i don't know what to do anymore. i bought a new car for reliability and this is far from reliable. it is very very loud also. *tr
I've experienced my new ford fiesta 2013 shuddering, shaking, and chugging. especially when i'm on a hill stopped and i try to accelerate. i have an automatic and it acts like a manual transmission. when i attempted to accelerate on the hill after stopping, the vehicle almost shut down completely. i brought my vehicle to the dealership which i purchased it from on two different occasions. both times, the service advisor and the service manager informed me that the vehicle is performing as it should and there are no problems. i can't rely on the vehicle to accelerate as it should. many times i've been afraid of my safety to merge into traffic because i know it won't perform. *tr
Since i bought this car in 2012 it has had problems with the transmission every time i took it to ford they would tell me nothing was wrong with it or that it was something i did. i took it back in a few years ago and it seems like the problem was fixed but it started back up shortly after. so i just stopped complaining about it since it seems it's a wild goose chance. also my stereo has completely cut out and i've had it checked and my mechanic can't seem to find a anything wrong with or why it has cut out and it's been a year i still have yet to figure out the problem.
I purchased a 2013 ford fiesta in july of 2013. the first two weeks i was driving it, i noticed jerking, lunging, and shuttering when trying to accelerate from low speeds or from a stopped position. soon thereafter, a metal noise started from the engine area. i took it back to the dealership and they said i had a problem with the "clutch" in the transmission and it would have to be replaced. it took a while (11 days) to get the part in, but the work was done. several weeks later the problem started again. i drove the car as it was because i needed it for my busy job. when i transferred to houston in the fall of 2014, i had it serviced again at the local ford dealership because the problem was getting worse. they had my car for 3 days and all they said was it "needed an update." update or not, the problem was and is still there. the lunging, and mis-shifts have never been worse. i put up with it until this week when i accelerated in houston traffic and my fiesta would not go. i could have caused a terrible accident and injury to myself and others due to the transmission not functioning properly. the shuttering is so bad that it seems as if the car's back brakes are locked up and the car is dragging its back end. i have a new appointment on 6/29/15 with the same dealership that did the "update." this will be the third time i have had a dealership attempt to fix this problem.

This is my company car. brand new in march 2013. at about 7500 miles i started getting hesitation and shuddering during acceleration. took to dealer ([xxx]). transmission repair took 3 weeks. now at 19000 mile it is doing the same thing. took back to same dealer. they said ford now has a "shudder test" and if it is under 250, no repairs. it continues to worsen. it can be a real problem when you don't know if your car is going to take off or just shake and hesitate like a [xxx]! are they just trying to nurse ut along until it is out of warranty? my employer that assigned me this car owns four of them for the sales staff and one of the others has been in twice for repairs on the transmission for the same problem. i have been driving different vehicles for work and personal reasons for 40 years and no one can convince me this is even close to normal. ford needs to step up to the plate. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
