Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2013 Ford Fiesta

This is at least the 3rd time the vehicle has been into the dealer for transmission issues. i have addressed the issue with phil long ford as well as the ford motor company. the clutch was replaced last year. at first phil long ford told me there was nothing wrong with my car. then they said the transmision needed to be replaced which they did, afterwords i drove the car and it continues to jerk, shudder, and sputter through gears after a stop or at low speeds. this seems to happen on hills. the car hesitates to pick up speed and then it feels like it catchs then i get jerked back as the car jumps forward. it varries day to day some days the car runs smoother than others, there is no rhyme or reason. out side temperature does not seem to make a difference, however when the car warms up it becomes more noticeable. phil long ford took the car for a test drive and told me it was normal and i would have to drive it for at least 1000 miles to have the car 'learn' how i drive. they said ford motor company will not allow them to do anything until after this has been completed. the car has jumped into gear and almost hit the car in front of me at a stoplight.

This is at least the 3rd time the vehicle has been into the dealer for transmission issues. i have addressed the issue with beyer ford as well as the ford dealer near my parent's house in pa where i often travel. the clutch was replaced last year. ford tells me that the symptoms are 'normal' and with in the correct range but this is a serious concern. for awhile now, the car continues to jerk, shudder, and sputter through gears after a stop. car noticeably vibrates and there are loud, rattling and grinding noises associated with the issue especially at low speeds. this is especially an issue on hills. the car hesitates to pick up speed and seems to 'catch' for a few seconds and then i get jerked back as the car tries to move forward. some days the car runs smoother than others but there is no rhyme or reason and more often than not there are major issues. temperature does not seem to make a difference-it's actually more noticeable once the car has been warmed up and has been on the road for awhile. additionally, the car would not start over the weekend. the battery was fine and the starter turned but the engine would not fire. eventually the car did start, but the shaking and grinding was even more noticeable than usual.

Went to start my vehicle and it did not turn on at all. there is just a clicking noise, so the starter is good, however the battery was dead. i jumped started the car and was able to drive. my information screen said, "transmission malfunction please service now". the vehicle would run at 4,000 rpms before shifting when usually it's supposed and did shift at 3,500 rpms. as i would brake and be under 5mph the vehicle would lurch forward and i would have to slam my brakes in order to make a complete stop and avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. i took it back home and haven't drove it since. today i tried to unlock my car with my wireless key fob and the doors wouldn't unlock. my vehicle completely lost all power. on the ford website for my specific vehicle, it shows i have field service actions. fsa title: transmission clutch shudder / transmission input shaft seal warranty extension. 150,000/ 10 year warranty. fsa title: transmission control module extended warranty coverage. i have learned the transmission control module can end up having a short and your car can shutter when it shifts and it can lose all power. this is very dangerous and should be addressed by ford and the national highway traffic safety administration, before someone loses their life.

I bought this car used from a dealership for my daughter as a car for college. the transmission began stuttering within 2 months of purchase and they said they had to replace the clutch and reprogram it. after another period of time the same thing was happening, again we had to have something reprogrammed. 4 months later it is happening again. i am concerned that the car will shut off as it hesitates and shutters when operating at low speeds. the shuttering and hesitating is very noticeable at city driving speeds. with all of the complaints on this transmission/clutch why is this not being looked at closer by ford?

My sons car began hesitating and jerking, when trying to accelerate it would bog down when trying to go, getting on the highway was scary. we took the car to the dealer on aug 19th they said it was clutch and they replaced it then called and said it was transmission and they would replace that. we didn't car back until oct 6 my son took the car to work the next day, while on the highway the car began to whine as well as an odor he pulled off the highway and my husband went and got the car. the dealer picked the car up from my driveway leaving a puddle. they are telling me it is still the transmission and they are waiting on parts, as of today oct 25th my car is still at the dealer. *tr

Car began hesitating and jerking, when trying to accelerate it would bog down when trying to drive, going through intersections after a stop car was almost hit a number of times due to car staling . my wife and i took the car to the dealer on october 20th 2015 for the 4th time, they said it was clutch and they replaced it then called and said it was transmission and they would replace that. we didn't car back until jan 16 2016 i took the car to work the next day, while on the highway the car began to hesitating and jerking. the dealer told me the transmission had to be trained. we took the car back october 1st 2016 due to the car staling in the intersection and almost being hit again the dealer told me that it was the clutch and it needed to be replaced and was on back order, they said they did not know how long it would be and they are waiting on parts, as of today october 26th 2016 my car is still at the dealer. this is a repeat issue, i have taken my car into the dealer a number of times and was told that there was no issue with the car. this time they said it was the clutch and was a "known issue" that ford is not doing anything about other then waiting until the warranty is up and forcing you to either deal with the issue or buy a new car.

Casenumber:1024456 i have been taking my car to summerville ford dealership since purchased in august of 2015 recalls transmission issues door locks it happened when moving they said would call when transmission rep.came in..i was fine to drive. then door latches recalled. they replaced, and my drivers window stopped at a point before going down all theway. it seemed to finally go down but felt like scraping or getting hung up. these folks also left a hubcap off last october though..and did not know..i ruled out as human graced and gave benefit of doubt. when i called they were closed. so i brought back and they said it was a relay switch...but i knew it wasn't because it was not acting like that until (door latch) replacement. then it went away seemingly. i brought back again for check engine light.. then had a fan motor issue they told me to pay warranty and they would cover.

The transmission "jolts" and is not a smooth change of gears especially from a stop and moving up through the gearing to cruising. its a nasty adventure to get to cruising speed and this is certainly not normal as i have been driving vehicles for over 40 years and this is a ford problem and after this experience i would not purchase ford again

Issues with transmission. ford power shift transmission has been a issue multiple times with transmission failing to properly engage and grinding noise and jerking when accelerating at low speeds causing steering to shake possible safety issue if this ever happened at high speeds. this issue happens mostly when accelerating from a stop and when slowed to near stop apprx 5-10 mph multiple computer and transmission controll unit reprogram a and clutch has been replaced approximately 8000 miles prior to today's date and having same issues as before

My car has been taken in for 5 times to the ford dealership for this faulty cv transmission. it's also gone through at least 3 recalls (fortunately ford has "extended the warranty") on the blasted thing. i've also had them replace the cvt part itself, still nothing. so what's wrong? the [xxx]transmission doesn't work properly. it jars when accelerating, and i mean badly jars. how bad? i'm accelerating between first and second gear, let's say ina turn into an intersection. it will literally stop for a second while doing the adjustment and then continue forward. this is not something that is safe at all. in addition, after the latest "recall", it's made things "worse". the last time i went from first to second gear "flooring it" (just to see how it would handle it), the thing went up to 6200 rpms. the "red zone". it should not do that. at all. these "loons" insist that this is normal, when there are plenty of other cvts out there (let's say, honda) that have working ones that function fine. worse, they've been calling the [xxx] system automatic instead of what it really is, a fancy pants computerized mechanical. it's happened multiple times. there are times when i'm just going from a stop light and the [xxx] thing shutters and jerks. when it's into a turn, from stop to start, or up a hill, the thing stutters and sometimes stalls. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

When i take off from a stop the engine chugs, jerks, chatters, and grinds.

My car has transmission issues. it shudders and hesitates when trying to go into gear.it has been to service well over 6 times in 2 years. i am told that this is the design of the car and i need to understand that this 6-speed automatic shifts internally different. when on the open road and it is in gear it functions ok. in town going from stop light to stop light is when the issue occurs. it hesitates in acceleration and shudders. it has failed me exiting onto a major freeway by not kicking into the proper gear. i no longer try to merge onto a freeway in this car. there is not a doubt in my mind that this car is a safety issue. there have been numerous complaints just like mine about this car. i have tried and tried to tell ford corporation and the local dealership about these issues. i have written a letter stating my concern for my safety in this car. i have gone to the local dealership on numerous occasions and made many attempts at getting them to listen to me regarding these transmission issues. i have left there so offended by them acting like there is nothing wrong with this car when i know they know there is a problem. they put in back on me the driver that i don't know how to drive the car. i have been driving for 38 years most have been 5 speeds, i understand completely how a car is suppose to drive and for them to insinuate otherwise is insulting to me. again this car is a safety hazard and more so than ever now, because the safety latches have malfunctioned on the passenger rear and front doors. i do not feel safe at all driving this car but i have no other options as ford low-balled me on a trade in because they are aware of these issues.

Transmission constantly slips. transmission surges and stalls daily. the transmission actually completely went out 2 days after purchase and was replaced - the transmission never worked properly. this car was in for service on 4 occasions and left service with the same or worse symptoms. earnhardt ford in chandler, az stated it was fixed each time and pretended they did not feel the slips, surges and stalls when test drove with me after service each time. i was told there was nothing more they were going to do. **i do not have service dates with me at this time - the date in "when did this happen" is a guesstimate of the time around servicing.

This vehicle is unsafe and should be recalled. dual transmission cluch is a serious problem disengaging while driving slow or fast and shutters at all speeds. its electronic throttle body (ecb) is defective just like 1.6 million 2009-2014 ford escape and fusion and mercury mariner and milan vehicles that ford started a "customer satisfaction program" in lieu of a recall. of course the ecb is not under warranty (3,000 over) and ford did not identify the fiesta as one of the customer satisfaction program cars. $545 plus labor for a car that is 3 years old. no more ford products for home or work for this cfo.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to restart after the vehicle cooled off. the dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle. the contact received a letter stating that the vehicle needed a software update to give a visual warning for when the transmission was about to fail. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

The transmission on my 2013 ford fiesta shudders, jerks and pauses/stalls on acceleration while in low gears. when entering traffic from a stopped condition extra time has to be allotted because the car transmission will jerk and pause on acceleration. the driver has no control over the speed of the car, in other words accelerating will not allow the driver to get out of the way because the transmission pauses. this is a very dangerous situation. this car has been to the dealer 4 times. the clutch has been change multiple times. the garage finally gave up on trying to fix the transmission and replaced it. the car has the same issues with the new transmission. additionally the transmission shifts erratically at low speeds, it's not consistent and smooth. these issues happen all the time, this just isn't a one time occurrence. this is daily driving!

Manual transmission, when first started (transmission cold) it shutters in reverse then when shifted into 1st it will slightly shutter and from 1st to 2nd, then of different occasions it shifts hard from 2 to 3rd. once the vehicle has been driven for at least 10 minutes, it operates normal. called ford motor co. cust. care and there is nothing they can do except suggest to take to the local dealer which will cost an arm an a leg. this happens every day when the transmission is cold no matter what temperature or time of day as long as the vehicle has remain parked for at least 2 hours.

Reference complaints #'s 10639225, 10744924 & 10820141 for background concerning this vehicle. also, documents associated with on-going problem are submitted with complaint #10744924. current issue is clutch #4 being replaced in this vehicle in less than four years! if that isn't grounds for action against ford for their defective designed transmission then i sure don't know what would be? sure, ford gave a seven year warranty for the flaw, but it's just replacing the part with the same faulty part that fails every year! three more years then it's out of my pocket!! it's the transmission clutch for heavens sake...it shouldn't be replaced every year!!! i own an eight year old ford f150 that not once has had a transmission issue...matter of fact...i've never owned a vehicle until the fiesta with such a problem?

You guy know that the transmission on this car is not safe and no recall has been ordered. shame on you. i guess people have to die from it first. it pushes forward when trying to stop and stalls when you need to go. i have had the clutches replaced atleast 4 times and every 6 months i am back to my car trying to kill me. shame on this dept. when did this happen you ask? the entire time i haved had this car starting at about 2000 miles.

Transmission shudders, rather violently, between 1-2, and 2-3 shifts. recently the transmission has shifted into neutral at two very inopportune and frightening times, once on the 202 freeway in mesa, az and the other in a 3 way intersection attempting to make a left turn. the vehicle has become unsafe because of the random transmission shifts, whereas the shuddering was just a very irksome annoyance. ford needs to replace these transmissions. it's ridiculous for a person to own a car less than 3 or 4 years old and have these kinds of unsafe issues.

Continued transmission problems; jerks, clutch studders; scared to cross intersections because car will stop or jerk; transmission malfunction; seat belts not locking properly; taken car to the dealership more than 4 times due to the same problem (transmission malfunction)

While driving on the highway the power train/engine malfunction warning light (wrench shaped) warning light came on and remained on until i parked and turned off the car. at the end of the work day i started the car and the warning light was not on. i took the car to a ford service center and was told wires had melted together and needed to be replaced. the reason i was given by the service center is:" test drive - check engine light on, no symptoms detected. ids test pcm koeo-pass. cont - p2138 (app sensor correlation error), koer-pass, per tsb 13-11-15, bypass circuits le136, le137, and re137 at connector c210, pins 1, 8, and 9 respectively, switch app sensor connector pins 1 and 2."

70,000 miles currently, 2013 ford fiesa sfe with 6 speed power shift automatic trans. the transmission on this car is a flawed design. since i've had this car, there is excessive clutch shudder when the car shifts from first to second and from second to third. it also sounds like there are loose marbles in the transmission. i had the tsb/recall performed in april of 2015 but that didn't help. the car was at the dealer for 2 weeks while the transmission was opened up and parts were replaced. to be honest, it's now worse than ever. unless i'm driving at highway speeds, the car is a nightmare to drive.

On-going issue w/ chugging, gringin and jerking-front derivers side of car. started in 2014- told dealership steven ford(patchogue,ny) they stated no issue. noise got repeadetly worse over time. had missouri dealership look at when i foundout there was recall on the transmission- stated reset computer all repaired. came back to ny with extended issue took to tower ford (great neck, ny) kept for a week stating they had to diagnosis w/ 260 fee. was then told it was a part in the transmission - not covered under warranty and will cost $ 5,000.00 to fix. was told i could drive off lot-took to outside garage in glen oaks, ny where they informed me i had a hole in my transmission that by looking at could have been noted w/ no diagnostic needed. tower charged me for the 260 diagnostic and sent me on my way. ford corporate had been notified of all issues and refuses to help. i am 8 months pregnant- drove this car across the country and no one connected to ford wants to help- it is a 2013! tower ford told glenoaks garage that we did this to the transmission when we drove it 6 miles from one location to the other. this car has been a danger to drive and no one advised me of this extensive transmission issue!

Vehicle shudder shakes and fails to accelerate when pedal is depressed, typically in first or second gear (6 speed auto transmission). transmission control unit has been reprogrammed several times, clutch was replaced, control unit reprogrammed again. issues continue. vehicle loses acceleration in intersections and poses a risk for rear-end collisions, cannot smoothly accelerate which could cause issues.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while in the drive position, the gear switched to reverse independently. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the shifter electronic sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 91,000. the vin was unavailable.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. when attempting to accelerate the vehicle, it would either lunge forward and accelerate at high speeds and stall without warning, or fail to accelerate at all. when attempting to stop the vehicle, the engine revved, the vehicle accelerated and lunged forward, and stopped suddenly. the dealer stated that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

The transmission shudders and slips violently under 10 mph and between gears. this is a major safety concern and ford has not repaired my car. my car can easily get rear-ended if this is not fixed and i am not able to accelerate. please contact me and help ford recall and replace all transmissions for the ford fiesta.

Slow on acceleration and then shudders and jerks. jerky while shifting lack of power going up hill . has jerked, then stalled and rolled back while going up hill -crossing a busy road it acted up and if the ongcoming truck had not slowed down i would have gotted hit and t boned-scary and unsafe.

My 2013 ford fiesta only has 33,000 and is having transmission problems. the car shudders and stalls when first pulling out. this makes driving very dangerous. there is no way a vehicle with this amount of miles should be having this type of problems.

The car at times will act like it has been put in neutral when it is still in drive. i have had several times when although you put press down on the gas pedal, the car goes no where. it acts like it is in neutral. when it is in drive. it hesitates to go and i have had several instances where i came close to being rear-ended due to the car behind me starting to go forward when the light turns green and my car goes no where. the transmission chatters like a standard shift car. it jerks and i truly feel it just a matter of time before i am involved in an accident from a car that ford can't seem to fix. i have the transmission repaired 3 times and i am currently waiting on parts to come in for ford to try to fix for the 4th time. this has been an ongoing problem that started not long after we purchased the vehicle. and there are more then one dates this has happened. when i called customer service, i was told that there is a back order nationwide due to the manufacturer. what is ford waiting for, people to get killed because of this.

Taken vehicle to dealer 5 times for transmission. shutters, intermittent transmission staying in 2nd gear which could cause a crash.i am at a loss with this vehicle.i wish ford would replace transmission instead of having technicians replace clutches and seals or clean clutch to remove transmission oil off clutch. i have decided not to purchase a ford product while i am on this earth. no customer should have to suffer with inadequate engineering designs!!!!

Double clutch is slipping mostly at low speed/take off. has been replaced twice already; current mileage at 46813. brought in for third occurrence was advised parts on back order from october. will take 2-3 months before part(s) come in. pcm and tcm reprogammed, still shuddering, could be dangerous in traffic. not getting economy mpg as advertised.

The car jerks, grinds and shakes as the car starts to pick up speed. what happens all the time

On a cold morning car failed to start and transmission failure came on display. ford replaced trans module and said my battery was starting to get low. two weeks later the same thing happened. car was again towed to dealer who said i needed a new trans module. i informed him this was second module in two weeks and that there must be something else causing the problem. he said there was nothing else. i then found online where ford has painted the surface where the ground cable from the battery is attached. a youtube video stated the cleaning the surface of paint, applying di-electric grease and re-attaching cable would cure the issue. have completed this and haven't had an issue since. ford needs to recall all units to fix this issue.

Taken vehicle to dealer 5 times for transmission. shutters, intermittent transmission staying in 2nd gear which could cause a crash.i am at a loss with this vehicle.

This is the 3rd follow-up in regards to complaint #'s 10639225 & 10744924. the following is my specific event timeline. first event (17sep2013) 1st transmission shudder...2nd clutch installed, second event (30sep2014) 2nd trans shudder...cv joint leaking, third event (10nov2014) 3rd trans shudder...no dealer action, fourth event (10jun2015) 4th trans shudder...no dealer action, fifth event (29jul2015) 5th trans shudder...front suspension control arm replaced, sixth event (12sep2015) 6th trans shudder...3rd clutch installed, seventh event (5jan2016) transmission wouldn't shift...transmission control module replaced. all the other individuals who have filed complaints (concerning this transmission), all the issues i've detailed above (for a 3 year old, normally operated car), and nothing more is being done here? was nothing learned from the gm debacle?? this cars design is flawed and holds a potentially deadly defect that ford just quietly throws parts at and everyone's ok! thank you!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power, shuddered, hesitated, and jerked while driving various speeds. the failure occurred without warning. the vehicle was towed to sunrise ford of fontana (16005 valley blvd, fontana, ca) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle operated as intended. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

2013 ford fiesta. consumer writes in regards to transmission recall notice issues. *smd the consumer stated she went to the dealer several times to try and get a resolution for the transmission issue. *jb

The transmission shutters. sometimes it doesn't catch at all for a few seconds or move so when you are trying to pull out into traffic you end up stuck lingering in the middle of the road. this could cause a wreck, endangers mine and my already at least one documented case of this already happening.

When i drive the car in a low gear (usually stuck in traffic or leaving a parking lot) it will flash several warning lights and the computer console will say "transmission malfunction, service now." then the car will stop responding to the gas pedal entirely. i can usually get it to respond again by turning the car off and turning it back on again. after several minutes, this will work, but it's only a matter of time before it stalls out again. i've taken the car (still under warranty) back to ford for this same issue 5 times now, and each time they replace the transmission module. each time, after some time (shortest: 2 days, longest: four months) the same stalling out presents in the same way. i've broken down/stalled out in parking lots, on surface streets, and on major freeways: each time in traffic. the first incident happened in august of 2015, then 12/11/15, 12/15/15, 12/18/15 and 1/14/15.

Transmission is junk. jerking and sputtering going from 1st to 2nd. unsafe, has been to ford 3 or more times for this and they can't fix it.

Transmission jerks and shudders when the car gets hot. the check engine light is on constantly and when the car goes uphill it rolls backwards.

The car almost stopped in the middle of the road when we tried to cross the road from a stop sign. it felt like it had no power to move. we finally were able to complete the maneuver but the risk of an accident was pretty high as the other cars were approaching the intersection.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while the vehicle was coming to a stop, the transmission failed and the vehicle jerked severely. a warning message in the instrument panel indicated that the transmission malfunctioned and needed to be serviced. the failure occurred constantly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module failed and needed to be replaced. the transmission control program was updated, but the failure recurred. the contact mentioned that the transmission control module was replaced twice, but the failure persisted. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle jerked every time the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the inner input seal and clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred three months later. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the technician noticed that the clutch fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 23,743.

There have been multiple instances that my transmission, while in motion, has stuttered, stalled, or been completely unresponsive. in low gears, the transmission sounds as if it is grinding metal cans. when my car stutters or jerks seemingly out of nowhere, my lights and dash will flicker as well. both my ford dealership and ford itself has told me these safety issues are normal and to be expected. twice i've almost collided with semis on the highway when i was unable to get up to speed properly due to the chugging and stuttering. there are thousands of complaints on this issue. i've already had my clutch and seals replaced once, to no avail. this is the first vehicle i've bought and i'm scared for my safety. ford and my dealership won't take responsibility for these hazards and insist that i'm not driving my car right. the grinding, stuttering, stalling, and outright transmission failure has been occurring for the full 7 months i've had the car. if maintenance invoices are needed, i do have access to these.

Vehicle shakes and shudders on acceleration. it has loud noise and decreased speed while on ramps or inclines. the check engine light came on a lot and would overheat while i was on the freeway. there was also a fluid leak under the vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford fiesta. while driving 15 mph, the vehicle shook violently without warning and the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

The transmission stutters, grinds, slow to engage can also pop into gear hard when excellerating or hestitates when excellerating. it also allows the car to roll backwards when stationary. two times in the shop and the explanation is needs new parts, then has to learn how to be a transmissionj again. what??? it has only 14k mile on it.
