While entering freeway, i attempted to open sunroof (panoramic dual panel) and hear a loud bang followed by terrible grinding and cracking noises. as the glass panel retracted, a piece of plastic from the tracks shot out and struck me in the head while driving. after exiting the freeway i tried to close the sunroof. it would close about 80%, stop, then fully retract. due to rain, i immediately went to dealer to get the roof looked at. ford dealer was able to get the sunroof to the vent position and diagnosed broken tracks.
The rear windshield of my 2017 f150, has randomly exploded and shattered into a million different pieces. this occurrence has happened 2 times now. both times there was no external cause for the window shattering. the first occurrence happened while closing the drivers door when the car was parked, the other occurrence had while simply driving in a neighborhood road. there's not explanation for why the rear windshield explodes, nor is ford willing to cover it.
Driving down the road early this morning when i hear a sudden *pop* and my rear glass shattered. car was going approximately 45 mph and in a straight line, with no other vehicles or objects near. the car was sitting in the shade in front of my house over night. frost had been on the windows, so naturally the heat and defrosters were on. no impact. no other signs of concern whatsoever. the only thing holding it together is the window tint film.

I was driving on the atlantic city expressway on january 20th and at approximately 3:30 pm, i heard a very loud pop, as if a rock had hit my windshield. i checked and saw nothing, then looked in my rear view mirror and saw that the rear view window on the driver's side had just shattered. it was a clear day with light traffic and i have no idea how this could have happened. i had my soft cover on and it was still on when i arrived at the auto repair shop that wound up replacing the window. the owner of the shop said he hadn't seen anything like it. he called ford to see if they had any information and he was told that my vehicle was out of warranty and they had no recalls. unfortunately i didn't take a picture of it. however, i did search online and saw that other people have reported similar occurrences. i also saw that your organization is interested in receiving reports such as this, so that is why i am submitting it. it definitely surprised me when it ...
The rear window shattered on the passenger side of our vehicle. i cannot see out of it. the vehicle was stationary. we did not see anything happen to it (person) via our security cameras. i am worried it will shatter. this seems to be a common problem as i have conducted research on the internet.
The electric rear defroster on my 2018 f150 xlt crewcab purchased in 10/2018 stopped working for some reason. i took the vehicle to the dealer for repair and was told that the wires had become disconnected from the rear window glass for an unknown reason. the dealer "repaired" the defroster using epoxy to glue the wires onto the glass again. the vehicle had 13,542 miles on it. i picked up the vehicle from the dealer on 1/15/2020 at about 7pm. the next morning i drove the vehicle to work at 6am for a 24hr shift. i worked until 6am on 1/17/2020 and while i was driving home on a state road with the defroster on the entire rear window exploded suddenly with such force i thought someone had shot the vehicle. while looking for a place to pull over to find out what happened i smelled something burning. i looked in the rear view mirror and saw flames coming up from behind the rear seat back on the passenger side at the bottom of the window. i pulled over and called 911. the vehicle burned while waiting for the fd to respond. the vehicle was a total loss.
The rear window shattered while having the rear window defrost on and driving on a highway. nothing hit the window, no big bumps or impacts.
Turned on rear power slider window defrost but defrost light would not come on. however, shortly after a loud sound like a gunshot was heard and the rear window on the passenger side was found to be shattered. temperatures were in the 30s fahrenheit at the time. called local dealer and they responded they do not replace rear windshields so it was replaced by local auto glass vendor.
