Problems with 2015 Ford F-150 SERVICE BRAKES

On average, the 2015 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 49 948 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2015 Ford F-150

3.5 liter v6 ecoboost sudden and complete loss of braking ability without warning brake pedal going to the floor with sudden and complete loss of brake effectiveness brake warning lamp illumination and low brake fluid level comes on after complete loss of brakes, slowed down with emergency brake luckily at low speed added 1 quart of dot4 brake fluid brake warning lamp illumination and low brake fluid level disappeared brake pedal went to the floor with sudden and complete loss of brake effectiveness brake warning lamp illumination and low brake fluid level did not come on until after brakes failed i did not have an accident but it was close. took to shop with complete brake failure. truck has 39000 miles. the vehicle was on a city street when the brakes failed. no fluid was detected under the vehicle even after adding 1 quart of dot 4 brake fluid and the brakes failed again.

I was driving the the truck this morning and after the 3rd traffic light suddenly i lost break and barely able to stop. i pulled to a gas station slowly. i noticed break fluid was below minimum. filled up break fluid to maximum. i tried to drive to ford dealer ship but after a few minutes i had no break again so i had vehicle towed to veterens ford tampa.

I was driving on the street the brake indicator low brake fluid light came on suddenly. i stepped on the brake paddle and there were no brakes. i shifted to 1st gear and coasted to side of the street. i checked reservoir and it was very low. i filled the reservoir but was empty in a few minutes but i did not see any leaks anywhere.

Warning notice came on and a minute later brakes completely failed. luckily i was driving very slowly on a military base.

Brake pedal going all the way to floor took to dealer he said noting was wrong same day took to local shop they replaced the master clydner and calipers the truck had 36400 miles the repair seam to fix the problem very strange that the dealer did not want to address the issue when coming to a stop break pedal with pressure would go to the floor felt like there was no pedal left by pumping break pedal you could get pressure back but it would go back to floor it also would do this stoped at red light

As i was driving to work on a secondary street with very light traffic (thankfully), a warning flashed on dashboard regarding low brake fluid. when i touched the brake pedal it vibrated and as i depressed it went all the way to the floor where i had minimal stopping power. with very light traffic i went to a nearby auto parts store and purchased / installed 1 quart of brake fluid. by the time i drove 3 miles to my office, the brake pedal was again on the floor with minimal stopping power. i installed a second quart of fluid with absolutely no sign of a leak anywhere. i had the vehicle towed to the dealer where they advised the master cylinder was leaking the fluid into the booster assembly. they replaced the master cylinder and booster.

While driving on interstate i355 at 70 miles per hour without requiring brakes, i got a chime and then a message on the dash that my brake fluid reservoir was low, then my brake light went on. i checked the brake pedal and it went to the floor without stopping the truck. luckily i was able to time my distance with traffic and switch lanes and exit the interstate. i managed to get the truck into a parking lot and then checked the brake fluid reservoir. the reservoir was very low, below the minimum level. i contacted a coworker who brought brake fluid to the site and we filled it and pumped the brake pedal. it seemed fine so i drove the truck again going to work. within another mile the chime and warning came on the dash again. at that time i pulled out of traffic and parked the truck at a bank parking lot. i then called ford roadside assistance and had the truck brought to the nearest ford dealership for service. the dealership told me later that night that my master cylinder and my brake booster both failed and caused the issue. i checked on line and found that the nhtsa is investigating this issue on 2015 ford f150 trucks with the v6 eco-boost engine, which is the same engine in my truck. before the brake issue happened i drove approximately 5 miles and stopped at several red lights and intersections without any problems.

I parked my vehicle at camping world. there was no indication that there was any problem with the brakes. i came out about one half hour later and got into my vehicle. i started the engine, put my foot on the brake pedal, put the gearshift in reverse and when i release the parking brake a warning came up on the dash that said "low brake fluid". the vehicle had just started moving in reverse. i stepped down on the service brake pedal in it went all the way to the floor, there was no braking action at all. i hade to use the parking brake to stop. this failure happened with no warning and was a total service brake failure. i found no leaks at the wheels or anywhere under the vehicle. my next stop was to pickup my 26 foot travel trailer to get ready for vacation. ford emergency service had my vehicle towed to ron dupratt ford in dixon california for warranty repairs. i believe the problem involves the master cylinder/brake booster.

Spongy brakes and pedal goes low. a vehicle report was completed with the truck running connecting to ford via my cell phone. a issue was detected. then run again. detected again. then run again a hour or so later and not detected. i see a recall inquiry has been open on 2015-2016 f150 with the v6 3.6l engine. mine is a 5.0v8.

Sudden total brake failure. no ability to stop vehicle. fortunately in a residential zone and was travelling at low speed.. brake was functioning normally when driven to neighborhood retail shop. when re-entered the vehicle and began to accelerate, brake warning lamp lit and i had no braking ability!

Brake light came on lost all use of brakes whithin 5 minutes while driving 70 mph on highway. i was driving with the flow of traffic on a flat surface.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while the cruise control was activated, the vehicle braked abruptly. the collision warning indicator illuminated and a chiming sound was heard. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (watertown ford located at 1600 9th ave se watertown, sd 57201) where it was diagnosed, but not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: 12350340. the failure mileage was 19,200.

With the vehicle stopped, the brake pedal slowly fades to the floor when applying a firm steady pressure. at this time, there is no apparent loss of holding power once the pedal has faded. with normal driving the brakes work and the vehicle does stop. when the pedal has faded to the floor it can be brought back up by pumping the pedal. testing has not been done to determine the amount of holding power that remains or to validate what would happen in a hard-braking scenario. the problem was first noticed on 3/17/2017 and is completely repeatable every time it is checked. the dealer has agreed with these observations but has stated that ford will not back a replacement of the master cylinder because it is working.

Brake fluid leaked from brake master cylinder into brake booster. result was loss of brakes very rapidly. vehicle was moving when my wife noticed the loss of brakes. leak could have occurred either while truck was stationary or moving.

While driving to work. brake fluid low warning illuminated and complete loss of brakes. this came on very fast. within 10 mins of leaving home. further inspection, once at my office, found there was no brake fluid leaking from the lines, calipers, or exterior of master cylinder. brake fluid must have leaked into the booster.

This is the fourth time i'm reporting this. although my vehicle should have qualified for ford's recall 15s29, i was never notified. but i have mentioned it to my dealer 3 or 4 different times. they always tell me there's nothing they can do. so here's the issue. when driving on the highway, my truck thinks i'm going to hit something and the alert lights and sounds come on (and once since i had adaptive cruise control on, it applied the brakes at 70 mph). this is not safe. the dealerships say there is nothing they can do to fix my truck, yet the issue keeps happening.

On february 17, 2016 i experienced total brake loss of my 2015 f-150. the brake loss occurred at low speed, less than 10mph. i had to frantically pump the brakes to stop on a flat level surface. where the brake loss occurred there was no snow or ice. i took the vehicle to the ford dealer and they said they could not find any issues. no warning lights turned on. the vehicle brakes functioned normally until today when i again experienced total loss of brakes! again it was at low speed, this time on a steep grade with minor snow accumulation. the anti lock brakes did not activate and the brake pedal went to the floor. i was barely able to stop the vehicle when i reached a level surface. as of today the brake pedal continues to go to the floor. the vehicle brakes seem to function ok at high speeds, however while parked at a stop light the pedal continues to depress. i called ford because i am very concerned about what is happening., however they do not seem to take the complaint seriously. i asked them to tow the vehicle to a dealership because it's under warranty and i also have roadside assistance and an extended warranty. i was told by ford that they could not tow it until next wednesday. i finally ended up driving an unsafe vehicle over 45 miles to a dealership. the vehicle will be looked at tomorrow, hopefully!!! this is a dangerous situation that has happened twice, and i feel ford is sweeping it under the rug. please look into this before someone needlessly dies. thank you! *tr

Brake pedal bled off and message centar alerted of brake malfunction. dealer to replace master cyl. and booster. i was stopped at a light when the incident happened.

Brake failure, no brake warning lights. peddle provided some braking initially, then peddle fades to floor and braking diminishes to not able to hold vehicle to complete stop, even at idle speed. pumping peddle will restore same sequence. i would think this would be extremely scary to novice drivers and cause injury, death or collision with high probability. especially with absence of warning lamps indication. first time problem noted on near zero degree f. morning shortly after leaving early am on highway. suspect problem to be master brake cylinder. brake fluid level has not changed, search for external leaks in braking systems revealed no visible leaks. vehicle currently in to service this at francios ford bellville wi. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving the vehicle at 70 mph and coming to a stop, the brake pedal would push all the way to the floorboard. upon pumping the brake pedal, the braking action would return to normal and stopped the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced and was repaired. after about 800 miles the failure re-occurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 13,500.

After the vehicle was parked over night (less than 10 hours) i received a brake fluid low warning when starting. i filled brake fluid and when i began to drive the brake pedal went straight to the floor with very little braking ability. i checked the fluid again and it was back to empty. added more fluid it drained also. now i can slightly smell brake fluid in the cab. the vehicle is undrivable. very scary!

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floor. the brake warning indicator illuminated. the contact also mentioned that an abnormal odor of brake fluid emitted from the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 43,000. ..updated 02/02/17 *bf updated 7/6/18*jb *tr

On friday 10/28 while driving down the interstate at about 55 miles/hour at approximately 6:30pm with vehicles ahead of and behind my truck, the vehicle began to give a number of check engine alerts, at which time the engine rpms dropped to very low levels and began to stall and the accelerator no longer responded. had truck towed to the nearest dealership within the hour. i was very lucky in this situation, for had i been in a construction area or on a bridge, the situation could have been much worse. this same situation occurred on the evening of 10/2 while driving 40mph down a state road near my home and according to the dealer who attended to the issue, the brake module had failed which caused the symptoms to arise. in that instance, the accelerate failed to respond and the engine began to stall, which it did when i pulled to the side of the road. they replaced the module a few days later. in addition, the driver side door vibrates and does not latch properly. two dealers have failed to resolve this issue to date and i believe it is a safety concern that has largely been dismissed by the service technicians and dealerships involved. despite numerous documented attempts to resolve this issue with ford customer service, they have ignored this concern, have failed to respond to me in a timely manner, and declined a buyback request. i am submitting lemon law documentation for the vehicle during the week of october 31. i have spent hundreds of dollars on rental vehicles during attempted repairs to the doors and the brake module since ford claims they will not cover the cost of rental vehicles during warranty repairs. repair documentation attached pertains to repairs for 10/2 occurrence since the dealership has not yet had an opportunity to inspect my vehicle since it was dropped off yesterday evening. i will gladly provide info once received.

Brakes fade, sometimes to floor on 2015 ford f150 with 3.5 engine. no warning light or chime alet's the driver. 2015 models usually have a warning indication if this happened and 2016 models do not. build date is oct. 2015. the dealership can not find any problem with the brakes! these 3.5 models must be investigated and repaired!

Brake pedal falls on heavy braking. also falls when holding foot on the brake pedal for short stops.

Brake pedal falls on heavy braking. also falls when holding foot on the brake pedal for short stops.

Electric throttle body repair. 16b32 is the code. my truck shut off on me on the highway almost hurting or killing me. this is a brand new vehicle i bought 8 months ago 8000 miles.

I noticed the front passenger brake overheating. the place i bought it from agree to replace pads and rotors. that didn't fix it, took it to ford and they replaced caliper, but that didn't fix it.now its at ford again! front passenger brake overheating even more than before! i'm afraid to drive it with my family in it for fear of potential brake failure/fire! truck is at mullinax ford on northlake blvd in palm beach gardens florida.

My fiance and i were driving down the highway, with no cruise control on, and suddenly my sensors go off as if i was about to hit something. then after a second (probably was only a split-second, but it felt like forever), it went away. if adaptive cruise control would have been enabled, this would have caused the brakes to automatically press (i know because this has happened to me before). i was passing a semi, if that helps. this is a very dangerous issue (sensors thinking they are going to hit something, when it should be nothing). i wish i had a video of it happening, but it only has happened 3 times for at most 3 seconds in the the 1.5 years i have owned the vehicle.

Brakes are rubbing and dealer has reground front disc brakes twice without fixing problem. suspect that brake calipers are not completely disengaging after brakes are applied. brake pedal will go all the way to the floor after applying brakes.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that the brakes failed to operate properly. the dealer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 23.

I just read an article about the brake failures on the 2015 & 2016 f-150. i have a 2015 f-150 platinum 4x4 with approximately 31,000 miles and experienced a similar event about 2 weeks ago. as i approached a stop signal on my normal route home, the brakes failed when i stepped on the pedal, it acted like the anti-skid brake system had taken over and wouldn't allow the pedal to apply hydraulic pressure to the brake calipers. this was the first and only time it has happened, so i did not report the event to ford. no damage or injury occurred.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while accelerating from a complete stop at 5 mph, the brakes seemed to drag on three occasions. the dealer diagnosed that the brakes had a soft pedal, but the cause of the failure was not determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 31,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving approximately 70 mph and upon slowing down to exit the highway, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. the contact managed to pull over to the side of the road and drove slowly to the dealer. it was diagnosed that the master cylinder caused the brake failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the master cylinder was sent to the manufacturer for analysis. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 9,600.

Brake pedal dropped to floor and significantly lost ability to stop. mechanic says needs to replace brake master cylinder and brake booster. parts are on backorder which indicates there is a problem - parts department said there are 700 on backorder and it will take over a month to get them

Low brake fluid light came on, with in one mile the brake pedel went to the floor with very little stopping power. brake fluid resevior was completely empty. added brake fluid as warning light recommended, drove 1 mile and brake fluid resevior was empty again. luckly i was driving in town with very little traffic.

I was driving the vehicle when its diagnostic system reported "low brake fluid". i pulled into the closest gas station and checked brake fluid level. it was almost totally out, so i purchased 2 small cans and filled up brake fluid reservoir. i had just had the vehicle into the dealer for its scheduled maintenance, so it was odd that brake fluid was low. no external leaks were visible. i drove another 5 miles, and the diagnostic system reported again, "low brake fluid". i pulled into another gas station and rechecked the brake fluid reservoir. again, it was almost totally empty. i could not detect a visible brake fluid leak, but could smell brake fluid in the engine bay. i parked the vehicle, and called the dealership to see if they were still open. they were about to close. i restarted the vehicle and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. i called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed to the dealership. while attempting to park the vehicle in the dealer's lot, i had no braking capabilities. dealer diagnosed the problem as a defective master cylinder. repair was done by dealer by replacing master cylinder and brake booster. there was an approximate 30 day delay in repairing the vehicle because there is an existing recall on 2014 ford f-150's for defective brake boosters, and ford was back ordered on the parts. i just picked up my vehicle from the dealership and it was successfully repaired.

I was on my way to work one morning when i noticed my break pedal seems to be going lower than normal. after driving a little more it seemed to be ok. as i got about half way across houston, i was coming t a red light and when i hit my breaks they went completely to the floor and i went through a red light. luckily it was so early that there was not much traffic. i called roadside to row my truck to the ford dealer to find that this seems to be an ongoing issue with trucks around this year model, and the master cylinder is on recall until (hopefully) aug, 22. that's is a full month without my truck. there has currently been no recalls on these models, but if there is not one soon, someone is going t get seriously injured or even killed with this default. ( i only have 5600 miles on this truck by the way).

Had my boat trailer (9000lbs with electric/hyd breaks) hooked up , was trying to backup my steep driveway and the truck slid a bit forward in reverse and i tried to hit the break pedal but no action so had to turn quickly into the street to avoid an danger, was able to stop the truck on the flat street and low 4 wheel drive on. stop the engine and tried the breaks and they were working fine. did not think more about it until i saw this concern on the news and therefor a bit late reporting it.

My girlfriend and i were driving down the highway on a sunny day at around 70 mph. i was using adaptive cruise control. there were other cars on the road, but none within distance to affect my speed/cruise control (they were all way ahead or behind). all of a sudden, for about a half second, my truck flashed the warning light and sound as if i was going to hit something, and it automatically pressed the brake for me. it was very scary and dangerous. then it came out of the warning and we continued on our way (we were in a bit of shock). i of course turned off the adaptive cruise control so the vehicle was under my complete control. thinking back, i'm wondering if the shadow from an overpass caused my truck to think there was a vehicle close and an impending crash. either way, it was very unsafe, and i'm hoping it doesn't happen again to me, or anyone else.

Driving on interrstate 70 at 65 mph, i had several alerts begin flashing ranging from check 4x4, hill assist failure, 2h, parking brake and many more. in addition i lost power steering, brake lights and turn signals. i was able to drive truck home. this happened 4 more times. i called dealer and they suggested i drive it to their establishment some 20 miles away. i did not feel safe and contacted roadside assistance to tow the truck. i had to beg for a loaner one week later i received a call stating the technician needed to drive the truck to see if the same alerts happened even though they found 12 plus alerts when they analyzed the truck in their shop. i allowed this to occur as i wanted answers. i received a call today stating they had found the problem, a wire had became corroded in the steering column causing all the alerts to malfunction. they are replacing the entire column and my truck will be completed by tuesday. i had purchased this truck just 4 months prior and have been a loyal ford customer for 30+ years.

I was driving to work at ~65mph during rush hour and the brakes failed. first a warning light about low brake fluid then followed immediately by complete brake failure. i was lucky and got to the shoulder and coasted until stopping. the truck has been at the dealership for almost a month (still don't have the vehicle back).

Complete brake failure. brake fluid low level light illuminated while driving a very busy road and within 2 minutes the master cylinder had depleted all fluid and brake pedal was going all the way to floor board. luckily the wife was able to get the truck into a parking lot unscathed. truck has been at dealer for a week due to master cylinder being on backorder. apparently the issue affecting 2013-2014 f-150s is also affecting 2015s as well. truck has approx. 15k miles.

Brakes went out while driving. pedal went completely to the floor. a warning light came on indicating low fluid. i took the truck to a local garage and they determined that the master cylinder had failed and also brake fluid had looked into the booster. the brake fluid reservoir was completely empty. the vehicle had been parked for a few days. we drove the vehicle 5 miles without issue. vehicle was towed to nearest ford dealer nearly 40 miles away. that ford dealer has failed to begin repairs, claiming they are busy and consequently it will take 4 or more days to repair. we are 12 hours from home and stranded by this new pickup. this is precisely the same issue as raised in the complaint with nhtsa id number 10873438

While on vacation and towing a 16' enclosed trailer the trailer brake control module (tbc) failed. while driving, failure was temporarily indicated by a momentary winking off, then back on, of the tow haul mode indicator. no trailer brake control failure code was given. the vehicle was able to continue to the next stop at which time it was turned off. after re-starting and attempting to leave, the trailer brakes were fully locked. after removing the electric pigtail connector the trailer brakes released and it was taken to a nearby rv dealer where it was determined the fault was with the vehicle not the trailer. the vehicle was then taken to the nearest ford dealer were it was determined the trailer brake control module had failed. the dealer indicated the part was on back order for several weeks, at which time it was determined the best solution was to install an aftermarket unit which was done so the following day. although the vehicle is still under warranty, neither ford nor the dealer would cover the cost. failure of the tbc at highway speed may cause the trailer brakes to lock, causing serious damage or injury. this seems to be a recurring problem as indicated by the back ordered part and noting several threads regarding the same issue on the f150 forum. http://www.f150forum.com/f82/2015-integrated-trailer-brake-controller-malfunction-308674/

Check brake or check brake controller appears on dash. has occured twice in first 8,000 miles. dealers clear code the brakes seem to be fine. now " check hill decent" has appeared and truck will not accelerate more than 2-3 mph. this has occured twice in first 8,000 miles on city streets in motion or when starting from a stop light.

I purchased a new 2015 ford f-150, super crew cab, 4x4 in june 2015. it has a v6, 3.5 l ecoboost engine. the vehicle currently has about 7700 miles. for the past several months as i come to a slow stop i hear an intermitting rotating scraping sound which appears to be coming from the right rear break. it has been to the dealership, where i purchased the vehicle, for this issue three times but the service department has not been able to locate or correct the issue.

2015 ford f-150. consumer writes in regards to several defects with vehicle. *ld the consumer stated there were multiple instances where the vehicle stalled, the check engine light illuminated. the steering gear, steering shaft, steering wheel needed to be replaced. the consumer blew the horn and a whole was punctured in the steering wheel. the wrench light illuminated. there was a fluid leak from the rear left axle. the shutter grille actuator became unplugged. *js

Check brake system lights keeps coming on for no reason when going 40mph or more.only one time i have experience some brake loss in pedal pressure it took longer to brake. especially on freeway. brake fluid keeps going low more then more then normal. i've check brakes each one and have found noting. brake pads are good and clean brakes and rotor and still same problem. brakes keeps making noise when braking. it happens all the time i get on freeway. "check brake system" . it happened second day out the dealer.
