Problems with 2015 Ford F-150 SERVICE BRAKES

On average, the 2015 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 49 948 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2015 Ford F-150

While using the adaptive cruise control on my 2015 ford f-150 (king ranch), my truck will confuse a dump truck as a stopped or slow moving vehicle in front of my truck. this will happen if a dump truck is in the lane beside me or in opposing lanes. this occurs at sow and high speeds. multiple times this has occurred at 65mph+ in traffic. the truck will very abruptly apply the breaks and the collision warning system will alert. this has almost caused very serious wrecks due to the speeds that it often occurs. this is also not a seldom occurance, it happens every time i pass by a dump truck. it will occur on any and every street. i took the vehicle to a ford delearship and their solution had no effect on the issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 70 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to stop the vehicle. in addition, the low brake fluid warning indicator illuminated. in order to stop the vehicle, the emergency brake was applied. the contact also mentioned that he had to drive with the emergency brake applied until he reached his destination. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 104,167.

Brake pedal went directly to the floor then the low brake fluid level came on. thank god i had just parked when it happened. i just drove home from a 2 hour long highway trip with my kids in the car. i guess i could be considered lucky that it happened when i parked and not going 75 mph.

Driving at a highway speed of 65 mph, the brake fluid light appeared. i began to slow down, using the brakes to pull over,, within a few minutes i lost all brake ability when the pedal went to the floor. i was able to coast to a safe location and look at the brake fluid reservoir which was empty.

On june 15, 2018 i had a tone alert and message on the dash of my 2015 f150 appear while the truck was in motion indicating a "low brake fluid" warning. i applied the brake pedal and it appeared to be normal. i traveled a short distance to a parking lot and stopped. i returned after 20 minutes and when i stepped on the brake to start the truck the brake pedal went all the way to the firewall. i raised the hood and saw about 1/8 inch of fluid in the reservoir. i called aaa having the vehicle towed to tri-lakes ford in branson missouri. the diagnosis was master cylinder and brake booster failure.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the vehicle leaked brake fluid from the master cylinder in the brake booster. the low brake fluid indicator illuminated and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when depressed. autonation ford of littleton in littleton, colorado was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 51,000.

I was driving on a city street when my brake fluid warning light came on. i stopped in a parking lot to check the brake fluid reservoir and discovered it was almost empty. when i restarted the truck the brake pedal went completely to the floor, so the truck had to be towed to the closest auto center because there was no braking ability! we were informed that the brake master cylinder had failed - the brake fluid was leaking into the brake booster sensor. a brake master cylinder should not fail on a new vehicle that has only been on the road 2.5 years and driven only 48,000 miles!

2015 f150, lariate, crew cab. completely lost the brakes without any warning, pedal went straight to the floor, warning lights came on. had to hit the ditch to avoid slamming into the back of a school bus.

While driving my truck on the highway at 65 mph, i entered the off ramp and applied pressure on my brake pedal. my brakes failed and the brake pedal went to the floor. i quickly applied my parking brake, locking up the rear wheels. with no load in the bed of the truck, i slid for what seemed to be hundreds of feet before coming to a stop. fortunately, there was no one in front of me during the skid. i took it to a tire repair vendor close by, and they diagnosed it as a master cylinder failure that also ruined the brake booster. i called ford customer service, and opened a case for my vehicle. i have read that the 2013 and 2014 models of the f150 with the 3.5l engine were recalled for this problem, but that 2015 models such as mine have not been included as of this date.

I lost all break function while traveling 40 mph and had to use my e-brake to come to a stop. ford and my local ford dealership admit that the issue was a defective brake fluid master cylinder.

While in motion at highway speeds, our f-150 lariat supercrew 4x4 experienced complete loss of braking power. after filling the reservoir with recommended dot-4 braking fluid, the vehicle was driven carefully to the local dealership, harrold ford in sacramento. upon inspection, the technician in the service department (vincent) diagnosed a faulty master cylinder, leaking fluid into the booster behind. in addition to the master cylinder, the booster and diaphragm are also recommended to be replaced at a cost of over $1,000. the vehicle has 39,000miles and is lovingly cared for.

There is an existing adaptive cruise control safety recall open for this year, make, and model, but my truck also experiences the exact same issues described by ford on their own site every time i use the adaptive cruise control: https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2015/09/30/ford-issues-five-safety-recalls-and-one-safety-compliance-recall.html i'm sure that the existing safety recall needs to be expanded to additional vins within the f-150 range of vehicles. it is extremely dangerous in the way it currently operates.

Complete brake failure, all brake fluid leaked out with no sign of a leak. while driving on highway received a low brake fluid error on the dash and upon pressing the brakes they went all the way to the floor 2015 ford f150 king ranch with 51,000 miles.

Warning light about low brake fluid followed by total loss of pressure in the pedal. technician diagnosed a faulty master cylinder. vehicle was in motion as i was driving my 7mo daughter to day care. lost full pedal as i was turning in the parking lot.

Driving down the highway a brake fluid low message came up on my computer screen. i immediately tested my brakes and they still worked so i planned on pulling into the next service station to check the fluid level and possibly purchase more fluid. upon having to slow down a little further down the road i pressed on the brake and the pedal went to the floor. i immediately started to depress the emergency brake and throttle it until i was safely off the road and could put the vehicle in park. i was towed back to my service station where my mechanic looked at the problem. my mechanic told me the master cylinder had failed and leaked into the brake booster. my mechanic replaced the master cylinder. i do have an extended warranty with ford and after starting the process to get the work covered under warranty i have been receiving the run around. i will be trying a different dealership today.

I was driving my truck and the brake pedal went to the floor and brake light warnings on dash came on. brake fluid resivoir was empty. checked every brake line and connection, all were totally dry with no leaks anywhere. i read online this is very common and i am not seeing any leaks because the master cylinder is leaking and filling up the booster. i am going to call the dealer on monday but i have 50k miles so it's out of factory warranty and i do not have an active recall, seems many others are having this problem and it's a critical safety concern and the truck cannot be driven as is.

When engaging the brakes, pedal goes all the way to the floor. checked brake fluid resivouir and it was almost empty. refilled resivouir and still same issue. read online about breaks and seems to be the exact same issue with the 2013 and 2104 3.5 ecoboost models. currently a recall on those models for brake master cylinder replacement. this is an obvious known issue, but 2015-2016 models don't have a current recall yet. please assist with recall for 2015-2016 mod ls

I had a warning on the dash display that the brake fluid was low. i figured i'd check it out after i got home which was only 6 miles away. i continued to get on the freeway (303 in az) my brakes seemed normal. when i started to exit the highway i needed to brake to merge with traffic and the pedal went all the way to the floor with no brakes engaging. i tried to pump them and got minimal brake pressure in my panic. i swerved to the shoulder going around 60 mph to miss traffic in front of me. i slowed and stopped at the light and very slowly with very little braking made it home. took it to firestone and had them look at it. master cylinder failed is what they were able to find for a cause. replaced it and works as it should now. if this is a known issue with f-150s it should be addressed. from what i've read online, it is. my truck only has 44k miles and shouldn't need a master cylinder replaced. the wrong person behind the wheel having this happen could of led to a very serious collision. i'm grateful it didn't with me.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 60 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. the contact stated that the gear was placed in neutral and the parking brake was applied in order to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to san tan ford (1429 e motorplex loop, gilbert, az 85297, (480) 821-3200) to be diagnosed, but the results were unknown. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 37,700.

I have a 2015 f150 ecoboost with about 33000 miles. i have not yet had any brakes service. i have been taking my truck in to service regularly and just last week had an oil change and was inspected at ford dealership and they said everything was good. friday morning at 530am i had moved my truck and worked fine, a couple hours later i got back into my truck and tried to go in reverse but when i stepped on the brakes they were completely gone. the brakes went right to the floor and an messaged popped up saying low brake fluid. i checked and there was no leak anywhere. the car was parked in my driveway. i had contacted ford and they said they are not aware of this happening to any other trucks beside a recall of previous years. my 3 year warranty has just expired. this is a very big safety issue.

Started 2015 ford f150 in my driveway morning of 3-30-2018 and brake warning came on stating fluid was low. also brake indicator was on. tested the brakes and they functioned properly. entered the freeway and was traveling at 65 mph when i had to apply brakes due to fast slowing traffic. brakes failed as pedal went to the floor. had to swerve to miss vehicle in front of me. pumped brakes again and got minimal braking as pedal again went to the floor. downshifted the transmission and used emergency brake to stop the vehicle. proceeded very carefully to ford dealer that was less than a mile from my location. they diagnosed the vehicle with a master cylinder and booster failure. cost $1,000.00. vehicle has 50k miles on it and is meticulously maintained. ford dealer offered no explanation.

Front left brake line ruptured, resulting in loss of brake fluid, depresses brake pedal goes to the floorboard. no stopping power. backing out of driveway on this occasion. no accident. same line on right front ruptured less than a year ago, exact same result. luckily no accident but was at a stop light on a major highway when pedal when straight to floor

The brakes on both driver and passenger sides are making loud noises when driving and braking

While driving on the highway at 75 mph the truck shuttered violently and the engine shut down. immediately it flashed a warning that the "hill climb assist" malfunctioned followed immediately by a wrench symbol notifying that service was needed then another warning about the advance trac system then back to the hill climb assist symbol. all of this happening while the car behind me is almost sideways trying to avoid me. i eventually made it to the right shoulder of the highway. as i read the various warnings it said to refer to the owners manual with regards to the hill climb assist. i turned the ignition off, pulled out the owners manual only to find a description of the hill climb assist feature. after waiting for about 5 minutes i decided to turn on the ignition. the truck started without issue and i continued home cautiously in the far right lane.

After about 35,000 miles i started noticing a vibration when i applied the brakes. took to a ford dealer who inspected the brake pads and rotors and was told everything was fine. took to christian brothers one month later and was told the rotors were warped and needed to be resurfaced. 80% of my driving is interstate travel with very little stop and go. i also do not drive around with one foot on the brake all the time. therefore my guess is that this was caused by a design problem of some sort. rotor should obviously last much longer.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. when the brake pedal was engaged at low speeds around 5 mph, a metal to metal rubbing noise was heard and the steering wheel vibrated. the vehicle was taken to brighton ford (190 west bromley lane, brighton, co 80601, (303) 800-3235) where they test drove the vehicle and duplicated the failure. the dealer stated that the noise was normal and there was no failure with the brakes. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

On sunday, october 22, 2017, after a night of camping with my family, we loaded up our camping gear and left the campgrounds. while driving on the winding roads in the texas hill country a few miles from our campsite my truck displayed the warring that my brake fluid level was low. i attempted to pull over and check my brake fluid level however my brakes were gone and my pedal sank to the floor. my brakes system experienced a total failure and i had to take my foot off the accelerator pedal and roll to a stop. after i stopped i checked my brake fluid reservoir and it was completely empty. there was no brake fluid leaking from the truck and i have diagnosed the issue to be related to a failure with the master cylinder. i contacted a local ford dealership to report the problem and i was told that since there was no active recall for the issue that i would need to contact the ford customer relationship center if i wanted to seek assistance with the repair. i contacted the customer relationship center and reported the issue and a case was opened for review; 2 days later i received an auto-generated email denying my request for assistance since i had exceeded by 3-year 36,000 mile warranty even though this was a known issue by ford. it seems to me that not enough injuries or fatalities related to this issue have arisen and ford is not currently committed to fixing the issue. on the roads, my family and i were on with the tight turns and narrow lanes this was an extremely dangerous situation.

During the "very random" process of shifting the automatic transmission, from any gear to any gear, the gear does not engage and appears to be in neutral then the engine revs to the highest rpm until i press the brake and put into gear a second time. this happens both while the truck is in motion and when at a stop shifting from reverse to drive. this has happened at least 20 times since i have owned the truck. when this occurs it is unpredictable. it happens both when i am hauling a trailer and when i am not. i haul a small two horse trailer weekly and this happened to me while driving down a steep hill and i downshifted. the truck did not feel like it was under my control. i panic ever time this has happened and the dealership does not seem to have a fix for the problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 3 mph, the brakes failed while parking the vehicle. the contact had to apply excessive pressure to the brake pedal. the contact regained control of the brakes and the failure was experienced intermittently when the contact used the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated during the failure. the vehicle was not taken to a ford dealer. the vehicle was repaired and diagnosed by an independent mechanic. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not under recall and they could not assist. the failure mileage was 100,000.

I was driving down the interstate when the low brake fluid level alert came on. i tested the brakes and they felt soft. i pulled over and checked the brake fluid level. it was low. i added fluid. the light went off and the brake pressure returned. the truck drove normally for about ten minutes. at that time the low fluid level alert returned and i lost braking. i had the truck towed to an authorized ford service center. they stated that the master cylinder had failed and bled into the brake booster.

I was towing/driving with an airstream travel trailer in the georgia mountains when smoke started rising out of the dash with an electrical burning smell. then the brakes seized on the trailer. i was blocking the road but thankful i was not driving at highway speed. the trailer systems were checked for a short- nothing. then the truck was taken to a ford dealer in cleveland, ga who tested the oem brake controller on a different trailer and it did the same thing and burned some more. they replaced the unit and i returned home; however, searching the internet i discovered others who have experienced the same issue. this is not a safe situation and the unit is a feature of the truck from ford, not third party.

Brakes stopped working immediately after brake light came on. filled with 1 quart of brake fluid and it disappeared into the booster. no brake fluid on ground.

Issue: while driving the vehicle around 40mph, the "low break fluid" warning flashed on the dashboard and i instantly lost the breaks. the break fluid tank was empty and there was no apparent linkage. ford dealership confirmed that the break booster master cylinder failed

Leaked brake fluid and lost braking power. brake pedal went all the way to floor. i was told by mechanic that the master cylinder and brake booster needed to be replaced.

I experienced a total brake failure on my 2015 ford f150. without warning my brake pedal went to the floor followed by a warning on the dash that said 'brake fluid level low'. it was extremely lucky that i was very close to my home and traveling at a very slow speed in my neighborhood or this probably would have resulted in severe injury or death. i checked the brake fluid and it was low in the reservoir. i tried adding brake fluid, but the pedal again went to the floor after one or two pumps of the brake and the warning came on again. there was no visible signs of a leak on my driveway. the truck has only 40788.8 miles on it and has been well maintained and has had an easy life. i contacted the ford dealer in georgetown, texas for help. they had me contact ford customer care to see if they would tow it in. the vehicle was picked up from my house and taken to the dealer. the dealer diagnosed the problem and found that the brake booster and master cylinder had failed and needed to be replaced. the ford dealer reached out to ford and suggested i do the same since they have seen the same problem on other ford f150's. i contacted ford and a case was opened cas-13072940-b9v3q2. the dealer informed me on september 25th that ford closed the case since there was no outstanding field service action on the parts. i request that the nhtsa work with ford to immediately issue a recall for the 2015 f150's. i find it unacceptable that ford has already had a recall on 2013-2014 f150's for what is described as the same problem with the v6 engine combination as what we experienced on our 2015 ford f150. i have also seen articles such as the article in autoweek on october 5, 2016 that the 2015-2016's have had reports of the same failure. this is not a normal wear item and gives no warning of a pending failure.

Driving 65 mph on hwy 183 in traffic, the "low brake fluid" indicator came on. i pressed on the brake pedal and the pedal went straight to the floor board. no brakes! i pumped the pedal several times and the straight to floor board and no brakes!... the traffic in front of me began to slow and brake. i was able to keep my composure and use the emergency brake pedal to slow down to avoid a collision and was able to get off to the side of the road. i had my wife and daughter in the truck and this could have ended horribly. i took it to the closest dealer i could find. the brake reservoir was completely dry and no external leaks. the master cylinder failed and leaked off into the booster.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving out of the driveway, the brakes failed and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (legacy ford, rosenberg, tx, 77471, 888-694-4154), but the contact did not recall the diagnosis and was informed that there was no recall. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to discount half of the repair cost. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

I started a drive, i got one half mile into the drive and the chimes went off on the dash stating low brake fluid. i tested the brakes to see if they were responsive. they were normal from my experience. i drove another five miles and had to slow for a highway overpass turn. the brakes went to the floor. i had a slight bit of brake but almost non existent. i limped the truck home and carefully put it into neutral gear any time i approached a stop light or stop sign. got it to my garage. checked brake fluid, totally empty. checked all four corners and found no fluid. poured new fluid in and check brakes again. they started to firm and went limp again. checked for leaks again. found the master cylinder making a hissing noise and fluid dripping from the master cylinder reservoir. will have the dealer tow tomorrow.

Drove an hour away to attend a concert friday night, no issue at all until it was time to leave. the truck had a low brake fluid light and the brake peddle goes straight to the floorboard. after filling with fluid i do not see a leak but there is none left in the reservoir. it seems this is a common and dangerous problem that is going to kill someone! of course my truck just went over 36,000 miles for a warranty service (less than 37,000 currently) and i may be stuck repairing a defect that could have killed me

After towing my travel trailer 90 miles to a campground, i left my truck parked for about 2 days at the campground. when preparing to go home, i turned on the vehicle and was immediately notified by the instrument panel of low brake fluid. brake pedal would press all the way to the floor with minimal resistance and no braking power. i checked the reservoir and found that there was minimal fluid. i looked for any leaks of brake fluid throughout the engine compartment and all the way back to each wheel. no leak was found. i added 1 bottle (12 oz) of brake fluid to get the level in the reservoir back into range. the vehicle then operated normally and i was able to tow my trailer 90 miles back home. had the vehicle been in operation when this happened, the results would have been catastrophic - especially while towing.

Complete loss of brakes due to loss of brake fluid leaking from master cylinder

Truck was in motion (straight lane) on dry pavement street. driver pushed on brakes to stop and nothing happened. truck kept moving forward and hit a stopped car waiting at a red light. after impact, the truck was driven to the curb and was able to come to a complete stop with the brakes.

Driving vehicle. stopped at stop sign. noticed brake warning lamp on. within 3 stops pedal went to floor. checked reservoir and found fluid was completely empty. checked vehicle for leaks. found no external leaks. after towed home, removed master cylinder. found brake booster full of brake fluid.

While driving on 7/27/2017 around 9:00 am, a warning light came on that said low brake fluid. 5-10 minutes later when i went to slow down to take an on ramp, the brake pedal went to the floor. i had barely enough braking to slow the vehicle, and to find a safe place to leave the road. i had to be towed to my local ford dealership.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving approximately 60 mph, a "brake fluid low" message displayed on the instrument panel. the contact slowed down and proceeded to the next exit before losing all braking ability. the contact downshifted and applied the emergency brake in order to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to purvis ford of fredericksburg, virginia where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder failed, which caused brake fluid to leak into the brake booster. both the master cylinder and brake booster needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

As i was driving on a city street, the light on the cluster came on telling me that the brake fluid was low in the master cylinder. i verified it by checking the fluid. i went to an auto parts store and wound up putting three 12oz cans of brake fluid and the brakes were still marginally working. i drove it to the local ford dealer where 2 days later i was informed the master cyl. had leaked fluid to the booster. the dealer wound up replacing the master cyl., brake booster with sensor, spark plugs, brake switch, vacuum line ck valve, and vacuum pump.

Was on a freeway exit. traffic was heavy, and i was in stop and go traffic for about 10 minutes. i was just rolling forward and when i applied the brakes the pedal went down to near bottom and immediately warning lights came on indicating low brake fluid. i cleared the screen and continued carefully to my shop which was within a couple of miles. i added brake fluid to the max mark thinking i could nurse it to the dealer for repairs later in the day. when i attempted that trip several hours later the pedal went to the floor again and i had little or no brake power. i decided to have the truck towed and pulled back slowly into the parking space. i had no brake at this point and actually had to jam the transmission into park a couple of feet before hitting my own building. that is where the tow truck picked it up.

I was driving south on i-75 just north of cincinnati, oh at approximately 65 mph when a message came on dash and said something like "low of brake fluid". i tested my brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor. traffic had simultaneously begun to slow so i down shifted the transmission, swerved from the slow lane to the shoulder and applied the emergency brake. i was able to get the truck to a complete stop. i lifted the hood and found no brake fluid. i called and waited for a tow truck. after two hours, since i had only driven 2 miles from my house i asked my son to bring me a quart of brake fluid and check the driveway to see if there was a spot on the concrete. there was no spot on concrete, i added an entire quart of fluid but still had no brakes. had truck brought to kerry ford and repaired where they advised the brake master cylinder failed. although the vehicle was only 18 mos old, the warranty was only 36,000 miles which i had passed. i bought the vehicle brand new. i paid for the repair but could not get the master cylinder from the dealer as i was told ford required the old one for a core.

I was driving on the freeway at 65 miles per hour when i had a sudden warming light flash saying brake fluid problem. i tested the brakes and they went to the floor. total brake failure with no warning. the truck has 29,000 miles and was serviced within last 2 months. this could have very bad and had tragic consequences. i fortunately was able to down shift using the manual shift feature and slow down and stop safely. this is a serious issue. my family and i could have been in a serious accident and hurt ourselves or others. ford needs to get this figured out asap. call me with any questions.

Brake master cylinder failed, pedal went to floor with no warning and almost crashed. topped off brake fluid, and still no brakes. pulled cap off vacuum booster and booster was full of brake fluid. now truck is smoking badly i believe from brake fluid being sucked into vacuum hose. only 30,000miles on truck 2015 f150 with 3.5l
