Remote started my truck saturday morning 2/3/2018 as i live in iowa and it is cold this time of year. after about 10 minutes went out got in the truck turned it on and put it in reverse and started backing out of my driveway. when i heard a loud bang like a gunshot or someone dropping a cinder block on my roof. i got out and looked around to see if something had hit my truck and didn't see anything. i got back in looked out my rear window and the driver side rear window was shattered. you could tell that it wasn't hit because there was no focal point where someone or something would have made contact. the entire thing was shattered.

The windshield wiper fluid system gets frozen during 10 or below weather. i've tried using name brand wiper fluid rated for the winter and even adding more alcohol. also tried cleaning out the nozzles and pouring warm water. only thing that addresses it is parking the vehicle in a heated garage. have taken it in for service and they replaced the fluid with their preferred brand and the same thing happened again. so this definitely is not an issue with the windshield wiper fluid or random circumstance of freezing nozzles. this is very dangerous during the winter as road salt and grime sprays on to the windshield and visibility drops.

It was in the twenties degree mark outside. remote started truck. got in the truck heard a loud pop sound. looked around and my driver side rear window was shattered. no one or anyone was around window when it happened. ford will not replace.

Rear window on the drivers side power slider broke after cold morning when i turned on the defroster in the driveway. this occurred with the vehicle parked in the driveway of my house after using the remote start to warm it up. can not notice anything from the outside, but the inside looks shattered.

The wiper control remains on even when in the off position. it will keep going on the slowest intermittent setting. this does not matter if you are stationary or moving. numerous reports listed in online forums also.

Driving down the road with rear defroster on and heard a loud bang. the defroster shattered the left rear section of the sliding rear window. ford has been notified and unwilling to help.

The rear window defrost stopped working. 3 ford dealerships indicated this is widespread with this vehicle. with snow sticking to the window, visibility for reversing to avoid other vehicles, obstacles and pedestrians is greatly reduced. a vehicle this large, even with rear camera and mirrors should have the best visibility possible.

2013 f-150 lariat' same thing, march 2017, vehicle started by remote starter in my driveway, it was approx 35 degrees out,. i buckled my son in the rear car seat, got into the vehicle. vehicle was stationary and i heard a loud bang like something rear hit the roof area. looked around and didn't see anything. when i looked in my rear view mirror i could see the rear left side panel of glass had completely cracked,"spider-ed". this is the second time that this had happened to my truck(i will be submitting a second complaint regarding that incident.

Used remote start, it was about 25 degrees. went out got in truck and heard a cracking sound. turned around to look in back seat and saw drivers side of rear window was shattered.

Back sliding glass window on driver's side (with defrost) - used remote cranking this morning to start the truck on a mid 40 degree morning. truck had been running approximately 5 minutes. upon entering the vehicle and placing it in reverse, i noticed that the rear window (driver's side, non-sliding portion) was shattered. i exited the truck to inspect and could hear cracking noises, like rice crispies, as it was still cracking. there had not been any impact to the glass previously and there was no impact at the time of the incident. the truck is approximately 24 months from the date of purchase and has 20,8xx miles. i have contacted my local ford dealer to inquire about warranty claims.

Takata recall. started vehicle with remote start got in the vehicle started driving and looked and seen the drivers side rear window was shattered. looked on online to see if there was similar issues and it was. *tr

Rear defroster was not working, i actually realized it when hitting the rear defrost on/off button by mistake. the service department told me that this is known and common problem with the f -150. i noticed the problem when i was a couple of months and 2000 miles out of warranty. (didn't need rear defrost for many months). i never needed my rear defroster during the summer in michigan. i noticed this problem even before the first time i needed to use it in the fall. when i took it in the dealer led me to believe that ford would pay for this because it was a known issue. ford denied that it was a known issue and told me they would only cover part of the repair, leaving me with a $250.00 fee. the rear window defrosters on the f-150 are a safety hazard and can cause the rear window to explode if not replaced. the service team informed me that i was lucky that mine hadn't exploded. i only noticed it because my button on my instrument cluster didn't illuminate when i tied to use the rear window defroster. ford motor company should be ashamed at the way they are hiding this known issue.

Was driving on c-470 when i heard a loud gunshot noise. did a quick assessment of windshield and vehicle in mirrors. heard a crackling sound come from the sunroof. pulled back visor and the sunroof was completely spider cracked. got home looked at the sunroof from the roof at eye line and noticed a bulge coming from the inside of the vehicle, like too much pressure built up inside the truck and exploded through the sunroof. *tr

In september of 2016, i pulled into delacy ford in elma, new york. i was there to inform the dealership that the rear sliding window defroster was not working. after shutting of the vehicle, and exiting the vehicle, one third of the window blew up. i was informed that apparently ford was having a problem with those windows. the window was replaced under warranty at no cost well for the last year i have been having problems with the rear defroster. it is not working. apparently this is a very common problem with these windows. they would not replace it unless i paid for it. $1800. if there is such a problem with these windows why is there not a recall ??

Driver side rear bed window shattered, while standing still in my driveway. cold morning and the remote startup was used to warm up truck. i assume the truck automatically turns on defrosters when it senses certain outside temps. went out to truck while it was running, loaded some things in, closed the door and heard a load pop. couldn't see what made sound at time and went back int the house. came back out and got into the truck to go to work and looked through rear window and saw that glass was shattered.

I was driving to work in the rain. i put the rear defrost on to help clear the mirrors. after a couple of minutes i heard a loud bang as if something landed on my roof. i noticed that the drivers side rear windshield was shattered. i have a cap on the bed of the truck, so nothing could have hit it from the outside.

Front windshield 2 small cracks developed. one directly in the middle of the front windshield approx. 1" horizatal and the other 1" front the bottom of the windshield. cracks occured while driving, no impacts from rocks or debrie didn't occur.

Windshield glare reflection from dash compromises visibility when driving in sunlight. sunlight reflects off dash causing glare in windshield. many people have complained (forums online) this has been going on for years and occurs in many vehicles. auto manufactures need to put extremely non-reflective material on dashes to counter this. a dull dash mat really helps, proving that it can be mitigated. *tr

When i was driving to work today, i noticed in my mirror that my rear drivers side window was shattered. i pulled over to inspect it for vandalism. i saw that it was shattered on the inside. my truck is 6 months old and this is the second time. i bought my truck in july 2014, in sept 2014 my passenger side windshield got a straight crack in the windshield from top to bottom, again, the crack was on the inside, the dealer told me "a stone did it" and they would not honor a repair or replacement! now the rear window. its an fx4, 3 sliding rear windows. the dealer again told me "a stone must have done it, because they never seen this before"?! really?? i paid $48,000 for this truck and have 750 miles on it and it is costing me hundreds of dollars in repairs already!!! ford has to replace this and make it right or trade my truck in with a brand new 1.... *tr

Parked trk on friday afternoon. all was fine. walked my dog at 3am, walked past my trk all was still fine. my wife went to work at 530am we noticed unusual about the trk. i never drove the trk all day, she returned from work at 4pm and called me outside. the passenger door glass was shattered. we called the local police thinking someone hit it. when they arrived ,unlocked the vehicle and did an inspection of the scene. no foul play was noticed, they figure poor design and or cold weather. *tr

While driving (in motion) passenger side mirror came off hitting the closed passenger side window... there was no known or visible sign of damage to the mirror... in fact the mirror linkage was found on the ground along with the mirror.. the mirror just disconnected and flew off.. a person was seated in the passenger side.. the loud unexpected bang when the mirror hit the window shocked the passenger and caused a neck sprain to the driver. if the window had been open the passenger would have been hit in the face.. also others in the vincinity of the truck could have been hit by the flying mirror.. this took place on a residential street...

Tl*the contact owns a 2014 ford f-150. the contact stated that the passenger side mirror created a distortion causing the contact to believe rear vehicles were further than they appeared. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 100.

Was parked in my driveway when a section of the rear window exploded. the vehicle was warming up(auto start) for about 5 minutes before my daughter and i got in to leave when we heard a loud pop. i looked back and noticed the rear driver side window was shattered. there were little pieces of glass throughout the back of the vehicle and i'm sure landed on my daughters hair and clothes. the vehicle is a fx4 super crew cab with the sliding 3 piece rear window. i am located in barrie, ontario canada and the weather was 0 degrees celcius when it happened. *tr
