After driving for several hours on the interstate we had stopped to re-fuel. upon re-entry onto the interstate the truck failed to accelerate, the check engine light came on, the truck was shaking it took 30-40 seconds before normal operation resumed. this is the 3rd time this has happened, twice on of which were on the interstate while attempting to merge into traffic or pass vehicles. all three times the conditions have been high humidity, rain & traveling at a relatively constant speed for an extended period of time. *tr

I was at a complete stop on a main street making a left turn. traffic was coming in the opposite direction and i was waiting for clearing within the traffic in order to make my left turn. there was an opening in traffic and i stepped on the gas to accelerate across the lane. as i stepped on the gas a message on my dashboard came on stating "low oil pressure" and the vehicle completed stalled. i completely lost all power on the engine and also the steering wheel. the vehicle drifted across the busy lane and barely made it across the lane as traffic was coming directly towards me. multiple vehicles were coming in my direction and some honked there car horn to get out of the way. this was extremely frightening as i had my baby with me in the back seat. the cars would have clearly hit my vehicle if i had not drifted across that lane. the truck is practically new as it barely has 6724 miles. *tr updated 10/8/2014 *js

I was at a stop sign turning into a main street, i accelerated to turn into the intersection when i attempted to accelerate the truck did not do anything. it was really nerve wrecking, i stepped on the gas like 3 times until the truck finally reacted. i almost got into a really bad accident which would of been my fault because of the cars defect. this is not the only time that this has happened to me, but is the most recent. they really need to do something about this! i took the truck to the dealer and was told that they cannot duplicate customers concern. this is a $43,000 truck and think that i should get what i have paid for not a little piece of crap. *tr

When pulling out into traffic from a stop i experienced a sudden loss of power from the engine. the engine sputtered and it would not accelerate or increae rpm. after pumping the gas pedal twice the turbos finally kicked in and allowed mwe to once again accelerate. this loss of power while entering the roadway nearly caused a collision. *tr

The following occurred in a 2013 f150 platinum with 12,000 miles on it. while accelerating from a traffic light, the car lost power and stuttered and fell into limp mode. you could not drive over 10 mph. this has been just one of many similar incidents. i have taken the car in several times but ford cannot replicate the problem, so they will not fix anything. recently, the car just misfired while driving around 40mph, these incidents occur suddenly then the car recovers. my car is currently in the shop, i will pick it up today, they said they could not replicate the problem, so no service was done. the reason it was in the shop this time? i was driving to work in the morning and the car basically collapsed while driving, almost causing a huge accident, this incident was more extreme than the others and the car was stuck in limp mode for about 5 seconds, the woman behind me almost smashed into me. this is a 50k truck with 12,000 miles on it. this truck is extremely dangerous to drive. recall!!!!!! *tr

I was accelerating up a hill at approximately 50 mph when a rapid deceleration occurred. i had to quickly merge onto the shoulder in order to avoid being hit from behind. i then shut off the vehicle, waited, composed myself, restarted the vehicle, and drove safely to work. i did, however, have the "check engine" illuminate on my way home and seemed to sense some stiffness in the brakes. this should not happen in a vehicle with 8000 miles on it. *tr

I had been driving on the highway in the rain for approximately 2 hours, when i needed to pass a semi-truck and pushed the accelerator pedal to accelerate the truck started to shudder and stall, with an accompanying flashing mil light. i let off the accelerator and the mil light became steady. i pulled off to the side of the road, shut-off the truck and opened the hood to see if there was any obvious cause to the misfire condition...and there was not. i restarted the truck, but the mil light remained illuminated steady. i drove conservatively home and hooked up my code reader to the obd-ii port. it showed codes of p0300, p0305, and p0306...the freeze-frame data showed the condition occurred at 65 mph and 2578 rpms. i called the dealer and setup an appointment to have the truck inspected. the dealer applied ford tsb 13-8-10 as the fix (don't know if this will fix the misfires or not). my truck has the 3.5l ecoboost motor. *tr

While accelerating to enter the hov lane (far left) in heavy traffic the vehicle accelerated on its own to 3500 rpm. braking did not over-ride the acceleration. slowed on it's own after 15 miles of 70 mph driving without touching the gas pedal. three months later, while accelerating quickly from a stop, to slow, to start in traffic, the truck accelerated again on its own. tac read 3500 rpm while pulled over in and out of gear (n). shop unable to replicate issue and have been told to drive it. this is a county of santa clara, california fleet truck.

After driving in rain for a couple hours in my ecoboost f150, i was merging onto an interstate where traffic required heavy acceleration and the vehicle stalled from 60-65 abruptly to 45 mph. the vehicle shuttered and would not accelerate back to highway speeds for nearly a minute. the engine ran extremely rough and was unresponsive to throttle input from driver. i had my family with me and was very upset that we could have been in a very bad accident. the dealership did not inform me of problems with the ecoboost at the time of sale, even though this problem has been going on since the ecoboost introduction. this is a serious safety issue and i find the nhtsa has failed to recall these trucks. the dealership where purchased is marler ford, near alexandria, la. you are not to use my personal information in anyway except to handle this complaint. which includes but not limited to selling or otherwise providing this information to outside agencies. *tr

This is the third time the vehicle has done this to me while driving at highway speeds the vehicle (ecoboost motor) the engine has shuddered and lost all powers when attempting to pass another vehicle or accelerate. on the first instance i was on a two lane road attempting to accelerate to pass a semi truck when the truck started missing so bad it choked out and shut down in the middle of the road with oncoming traffic i had to swerve into a ditch to avoid a head on collision. the second time was on a four lane during a 45 minuet drive when i went to pass it lost all power causing me to drop to 40 miles an hour in the passing lane of a highway causing many vehicles to swerve to avoid collision. the most recent time was when same as the second going to pass somebody the truck lost all acceleration would not get out of the way of traffic nearly causing another accident. i have had it into the dealer several times and i am constantly getting we see the history code but we can not reproduce the problem. this problem has left me feeling unsafe to drive my vehicle and hurting resale value as well as putting my safety on the line. *tr

Driving down highway at approximately 60-65mph when i attempted to accelerate. vehicle began to stall/shake and lose power. i was unable to accelerate while the vehicle was shaking. check engine light began to flash on and off. *tr

Upon acceleration to pass on freeway, engine shudders and loses power. transmission down shifted to try to recover, but engine would not respond to throttle press. had to back off on throttle and move to right lane all the while thinking to take the truck to the shoulder. very scary when trying to pass and no power. luckily i was not rear ended for slowing down so fast! *tr

I was merging onto the highway while it was raining. in attempting to accelerate to merge in front of a semi my vehicle stated shuttering violently and lost power. i could not get past 40mph. the check engine light was flashing. this was after the truck had been running for two hours. the semi almost rear ended me as i got off the road as soon as possible. i shut the truck off and restarted the engine and it ran fine after that. i took the truck back to my dealer the next day and they could find nothing wrong, not even an error code. the truck has a ford 6 cylinder eco boost engine. *tr

My family was driving home from a trip on the interstate in rainy weather conditions for the majority of the trip. on two or three different occurrences, when accelerating to pass or merge, the truck engine shuddered and failed to provide power necessary to accelerate. never did it completely stall, but there was a noticeable shuddering of the engine and the truck felt like it was riding over rough pavement. i had read about this issue with the ecoboost engine in the f150 (unfortunately after i bought the truck) but had never experienced it until yesterday. when i felt the shuddering of the engine, i eased off the gas and gently reapplied as i had heard about instances of the vehicle completely stalling when pushing the accelerator to the floor. if it would have stalled last night on the interstate, in stormy weather, late at night, it would have been a scary and very dangerous incident. when i called my local ford dealer today and asked him about service bulletins, recalls, or possible fixes, he acted like he had never heard of the issue before... *tr

Ford f-150 ecoboost loss of power. - trying to pass a semi on the highway when the vehicle stumbled after a downshift, lost power, check engine light flashed, and the vehicle started to shudder. tried to pull off of side of road but once i was able to get over to the median, the light stopped flashing and the shudder went away as did the light. it was in the mid 60s, i had traveled about 120 miles on the highway at about 70 mph in ohio on i-75 south of toledo. it had been raining off and on all day. *tr

While trying to merge into traffic i pressed the accelerator to the floor to get the truck up to the speed of traffic flow.i had no response from the engine for approx 1 to 2 seconds. this put me in a very dangerous situation as i had to get on the brakes hard to slow the vehicle on the on ramp to keep from getting hit by the faster traffic on the highway. in addition the traffic behind me had to rapidly slow down to keep from hitting me.we took the vehicle into the ford dealership on monday 30 sept 2013. this was ruidoso ford in ruidoso new mexico. they checked the vehicle and said there was no problem with it and that they knew of no other problems of this type on 2013 f-150 fx-4 pickup trucks. i am still in the talking stages with them about this problem as i feel they have made little effort to solve it and the research i have done indicates that ford motor corporation is aware of this problem. (this problem has happened to me several times since i purchased this vehicle, i thought that after the break in period, as the truck was new when purchased this problem would go away but it has not. also this truck does not get the gas mileage that it is claimed to get. *tr

I was driving at 48-50- mph when i decided to pass a cement truck that was going below the speed limit. as i pulled out to pass the truck everything seemed fine. when i got alongside the cement truck my truck started to hesitate and misfire. the engine light started flashing. i was stuck from going back as another car was behind me,also trying to pass the slow truck. i barely made it past the cement truck as an oncoming vehicle had to swerve into the shoulder to miss me and the vehicle behind me. when i returned home i looked up ecoboost problems on the internet and found numerous other people with the same problem. thankfully no one was injured or killed today, i believe the it will only be a matter of time before there is a fatality if there hasn't been one already. *tr

I was driving from milwaukee to des moines on sunday sept 15th, 2013, and when i went to pass another driver in dubuque that pulled in front of me the truck lost power and failed to accelerate as i anticipated. it was raining off and on throughout the trip, temp was 55deg, and i had been on cruise control for the majority of the time before this happened. basically, i went to change lanes and pushed the accelerator pedal and instead of gaining speed quickly i received no acceleration causing the cars behind me to have to brake quickly. during this time the check engine light was flashing indicating a mis-fire was occurring at which point i knew what was happening and got off the highway and the mis-fires ceased and after a brief stop i was able to continue my drive. my truck was built on 1/15/2013 and has all the updates to the intercooler ford claims addressed the issue. the issue is definitely not fixed and despite fords claim in their response to the nhtsa investigation this is a safety issue. ford also claims in their response to the nhtsa investigation that many complaints are just against the dealers and not for safety concerns so let me be perfectly clear here this is a safety complaint! *tr

While entering i-275 after a football game, i was attempting to merge into traffic, and the acceleration was none existent. i was nearly run off the road by another driver. the acceleration finally kicked back in after approximately 5-7 seconds. the problem continued intermittently even after the vehicle was reprogrammed by ford. several months after the initial occurrence, while attempting to cross 3 lanes of traffic, the same problem occurred again and i was nearly t-boned by a semi after it stalled in the middle of the highway. after several seconds, the acceleration kicked in and i nearly plowed over a pedestrian. ford seems to be oblivious that there is a problem. *tr

Purchase date 02/28/2013 august 24, 2013 ? my wife was downstate school shopping for my son and pulled out on telegraph road. because it wouldn't accelerate, an accident was almost caused. the truck started shuddering and would not go faster than 5 mph. it went into protection mode. took the truck into gaylord ford, gaylord michigan on august 26, 2013 to have them check why it would do that. they kept the truck all day and i was told they couldn't find anything wrong with it. august 30, 2013 ? my wife and son just turned off highway 65 onto highway 72 and my wife was at 45mph trying to get the truck to 55mph. the truck started to shudder and dropped from 45pm to 5pm. almost causing her to hit a guard rail because there were cars behind her. it was taken by flatbed to zubeck ford in oscoda, mi. the mechanic said it came back with 25 error codes and is unsafe to drive. september 2, 2013 ? the truck still sits at zubeck ford *js

Was accelerating entering interstate i95 north bound from an on ramp and suddenly my vehicle lost power and began to stall and shutter. the truck rapidly lost power plus speed and a tractor trailer truck almost ran in to the back of me. i dealt with this issue for the remainder of my 500 mile trip to nyc (and still dealing with this issue today now weekly bases). once back home i took the truck to the dealership who was aware of misfire issues with my truck model (apparently it is known by the manufacturer that the truck stalls and misfires issue and said i had all the latest updates however still today i experience stall and misfire mainly under hard acceleration. lately the issue has worsen and i am told by the manufacturer that there is nothing that they can of will do about it until they come up with a fix. this vehicle is a major safety risk period. i have asked the manufacturer over and over to correct the problem however they simply told me they don't have a fix for is as of yet. i am asking that you look into this and investigate my concern please don't wait until someone god forbid loose their life because this is a major safety concern. we need to be more proactive than reactive. the ford f150's equipped with the turbo eco boost engine is a major safety hazard it is just a matter of time before someone gets hurt and loose their life before something might be done - that is the sad part. please i beg you to look into my concern and follow up asap. just last night my vehicle stalled i have to constantly drive it cautiously. i only have less than 14,000 miles on the vehicle because i am scared to drive it - i don't want to sell it to no one else because i would feel bad knowing the major safety issues this vehicle has - i just can't bring myself to putting someone in a vehicle that could hurt them. please get behind ford and investigate this issue. *tr

Attempted to enter interstate traffic from an on ramp. attempted to accelerate to speed and merge into traffic. the engine lost all power and failed to accelerate, the vehicle shook violently and slowed. a malfunction indication light began flashing on the dash. a vehicle behind me had to pass me on the shoulder to avoid a rear end collision. the condition cleared itself after approximately 20 to 30 seconds. i was approximately a hundred miles into a 150 mile trip in rainy weather. returned to the dealer the following day who retrieved numerous misfire codes from the ecm (dtc p 0903, p 0904, p 0905). dealer re-programmed the ecm and informed me i would have to drive it and see if that works. performed research to see if this was a common issue with the ecoboost engine and found that indeed it was, that the condition has existed since at least 2011 model year and to date there appears to be no clear fix from ford. additionally, despite well over a hundred complaints about this dangerous condition, that no action has been taken by the nhtsb. it is my most sincere hope that it does not take a fatality to spur action on this condition. *tr

2013- ford f150 ecoboost: i was driving along at highway 100km/hour highways speed. i came upon a car going 70km/hr. it was safe to pass, and as i stepped on the gas to accelerate, my truck lost complete power and decelerated to about 40 km/hr, eventually slowing right down. i tried frantically to push the gas, as there were two semi trucks behind me trying to pass at the same time as me. the trucks both ended up having to pass me unsafely on the shoulder to the left of me, into oncoming traffic. i was able to glide over back to the lane i was in, and eventually rode the shoulder. i continually tried to get power to the vehicle. my engine light was flashing. eventually after several attempts, my truck did "grab" and shoot forward. the engine light then went off, and for the remainder of my drive, the truck was fine. again, two days later, the truck did the same thing, but at slower speeds in town. as i read into the issue, i found that this is a "common" problem???? my situation too was during rainy/wet weather, long distance highways the first time, and wet weather, in town, the second time. this is a severely dangerous issue. i too brought my truck to the shop and was told that this issue was being investigated and that ford had solution to try. what boggles my mind is that there are "solution" to try, which means this problem was known, yet when i bought the truck the dealership did not make one single mention, even when i asked if they had heard of any issues with the ecoboost system! the shop just updated the computer, an a day later, it happen again! :) i'm no longer driving my truck on the highway. not sure who to contact to return my truck. i don't even want it anymore! *tr

While trying to pass slower vehicles on the freeway my f150 ecoboost engine lost power and the truck started to shake. this situation almost cause a serious accident as traffic behind me had to rapidly slow down to allow me time to pass the slower vehicles and get out of the way. *tr

The first time the incident happen i was driving about 30 mph on a bright sunny day about 70 degrees out. i tried to go around a car and when pressed the accelerator the vehicle kind of stalled and shook, did not accelerate at all. i let off the pedal and tried again and it accelerated fine. there wasn't much danger involved in this mishap as the other driver and i were the only 2 vehicles on the road for a fare amount of distance. the second time this happened is what really worried me. i was leaving a gas station preparing to cross a 4 lane highway with a speed limit of 55 mph. this time it was morning about 65 degrees and sunny, i rolled up to the intersection and when an opportunity to cross was presented i pressed on the accelerator and the vehicle shook pretty bad and the engine about died. i hit the brake and the engine worked itself out of the shake. that's when i realized this issue is life threatening. if i would have pressed the accelerator and the vehicle brought me to the center of the highway and stalled there is a very good chance i could have been t-boned! and to top it off another issue i have been having with my 2013 ford f-150 platinum is the bluetooth is rarely capable of syncing to my iphone, so i were to be t-boned the vehicle would have been incapable of utilizing its 911 assist feature and the injured involved in the accident would have to rely on a witness dialing 911. *tr

While accelerating, vehicle lost power and started shuddering with the check engine flashing. could not accelerate while the light was flashing for about 20-30 seconds. after light went out truck started driving normal again. *tr

While driving on a highway at 75 mph i accelerated to pass a car and the check engine light began flashing and the truck started shuddering and would not accelerate, it started decelerating. i pulled off the road and put the truck in park. i revved the engine until the turbos started spooling normally again. *tr

Just bought this truck for a great deal of money. this has happened several times, with both my wife and i. driving at low and higher speeds trying to merge or pass another vehicle. as we apply the accelerator to pass or merge there is a lose of power and the truck almost stalls. we have almost been in 6 accidents because of this issue. i took my truck back to phil long of colorado springs, co. and was told i was lying and they have not had any other complaints and they could look at it for $150.00 as my truck is brand new and still under warranty, im not happy i cant drive my truck safely and feel like ford has let me down. don't seem to be getting any post sale customer service. please help. *tr

While driving in rainy conditions at 55 mph, the driver accelerated which kicked into passing gear. at this time the steering wheel began to shake violently, the vehicle lost all power (though remained on) and decelerated to about 45 mph on it's own. the check engine light began blinking and remained lit for appx 1 minute. once it went off the vehicle regained normal operations. however, when attempting to accelerate again the same issue occurred. the next day in dry conditions the same situation occurred when accelerating quickly to pass only this time the check engine light stayed on. the same situation has not occurred again, though the light remains on. it is scheduled to go into the dealership tonight. *tr

We bought our 2013 f150 xlt 4x4 v6 flex fuel at denham ford in wetaskiwin alberta. we traveled across country to ontario. we have continued to drive it. approximately 9000 kms for mileage our truck has steadily lost acceleration power. going up burlington skyway and garden city skyway (100 km/h major highway) truck struggle to maintain 60 km/h uphill with pedal to the floor! had instrumental panel problems improper display of amount of gas or distance to e. driveshaft constantly clunking and transmission slippage. ford refused to replace after towing of problems and constant call ins to customer service. took to local dealer and 7-8 technicians stood round scratching head replaced fuel pump did not make a difference. ford ask for payment 558.08 we not have funds as all of our money going into gas to repair truck and false reading on panel and ford refused to help us. we felt used and scared of being rear ended by a semi was not safe. did diagnostic no codes. beyond code problem. first known problem in north america...huge lemon. *tr

While merging onto a highway via an on ramp in rainy conditions i was almost involved in an accident when my 2013 ford f150 ecoboost equipped truck lost power and would not accelerate. i was forced to the shoulder as the approaching tractor trailer was unable to stop in time and the impending collision would have caused serious harm to my family. the check engine light flashed for a few moments as we drove slowly on the shoulder and then it went off. no further highway travel was used following this potentially catastrophic incident due to the rainy conditions. one additional incident occurred with the truck one month prior but did not result in the check engine light. when pulling out of a parking lot onto a busy street the truck hesitated for a few moments before finally accelerating. when the truck finally responded a large smoke cloud appeared behind the truck and the engine revved much higher than normal. until the recent event we thought it was an isolated incident. there was no rain or excessive moisture in the air on this particular day. *tr

I was driving my new 2013 f150 ecoboost in the rain and i tried to pull to the left to pass a slower car on the highway. as i went to give it gas, about 90% throttle, the truck felt like it hit a brick wall, stuttered and started shaking. the check engine light came on and i was unable to drive the car about 55 mph. if i tried to drive past that it would just shake. the truck had no power. i drove it like this for about five minutes and then the check engine light went off and everything was ok. on the way back about a week later, once again in the rain, the same thing happened. since then i have tried to duplicate this in dry conditions and the truck performs perfect. only when it is wet outside does this problem happen. *tr

6/08/13 while traveling from kingsville to rio hondo at 6 am for a fishing trip, i accelerated hard to pass a semi-truck. my f150 shuddered violently in the back end, and i felt a significant loss of power. the check engine light blinked excessively before extinguishing. the truck resumed normal operation fairly quickly, within 5 sec. i continued to my destination with no further problems, making sure to limit my speed and make no more hard accelerations. the weather was rainy and wet conditions. i intended on investigating this issue once i returned home. 6/09/13 the truck had been parked and not driven until my departure on sun, 2 pm. on my way home i was forced to accelerate quickly on hwy 77 on ramp from fm 107 to keep up with traffic. the truck once again shuddered violently and the a/c began blowing hot air, the loss of power was much more significant than the last episode and i was forced to pull onto side of hwy 77 to avoid being struck by traffic behind me. the engine light blinked and continued to stay on. the truck resumed normal operation; however the length of time before that happened was much longer than before. i was certain i was going to be stranded and it was necessary for me to take emergency measures. the weather was hot and dry. *tr

Driving new ford 2013 f-150 with the ecoboost engine. it was raining at the time. i tried to pass a vehicle and it went into limp mode, engine light came on and would not accelerate. this happened again several weeks later and the check engine light stayed on. i took it to the dealership and they replaced #6 spark plug and the catalytic converter. the problem happened again. now i hardly drive the truck and it stays in the garage especially on rainy days. *tr

Vehicle is getting way below estimated mpg. truck is barely getting 16 mpg while the false advertisement says the truck will get 17-21 mpg. this is a brand new truck and has those far shown false advertisement in gas mileage. along with the mpg, when in cruise control the transmission down shifts all the way down to 2nd gear while driving at 50 mpg leaving the rpms at a high rate when it down shift. there is something wrong with the way this truck down shifts in cruise control. this needs to be looked into as this is not the way a 50k plus truck should be driving or the false representation of the mpg that ford has claimed. if i had knew the mpg would have been this bad i would have considered a different vehicle. *tr

2013 f150 xlt w/ ecoboost 42k cost , had to accelerate to get out of the way of a potential accident and the engine stalled started missing barely missed totaling the truck had to plow in to a grass median to keep from being hit. i was able to restart the truck and get it home and have not driven it since. i am so disappointed. if this is not a safety issue i don't know would be, this is scary stuff. *tr

May 22, 2013- while driving south on i-55 and merging onto i-12, i was traveling approximately 35 mph when i gave the truck gas to accelerate into oncoming interstate traffic of 70+ mph. my truck completely went limp and i could not accelerate at all with the check engine light coming on. i was in real trouble at this point so i pulled off with one tire in the grass to avoid a serious accident and potentially being killed. approximately 1 minute later the truck regained power and i continued to my destination with the check engine light going back off. may 23, 2013- i called ford dealership where i bought my vehicle and they explained to me that nothing was wrong if the warning light went off. stating the system does this as an environmental precaution? may 28, 2013- i was traveling in galveston, tx at 25 mph when the check engine light came on again. i did attempt to give it gas to see if the same problem was occurring and it once again would not respond with the check engine light staying on permanently this time. i parked my truck for work until june 11, 2013. i took a picture of my dash to document the warning light. called ford dealership @ 7:20 a.m. on 6/10/13 explaining my situation. he stated that over the phone it sounds like the inner cooler. he explained to me that it is not dangerous and not to worry. he said the part was an updated part and they would have to run diagnostics to know the problem for sure. dropped truck off at ford dealership @ 11:10 a.m. on 6/12/13. received phone call from ford @ 3:20 on 6/13/2012. they told me that it was not my inner cooler because my truck has this so called updated inner cooler and they replaced my catalytic converter. they assured me this was fixed and would not happen again since the system was updated. the power loss happened two more times since and has me really worried to drive it. *tr

When accelerating the engine shut off without warning. after the dealer provided service for this issue, the engine shut off while decelerating to a stop and again while accelerating from this stop. most recently the engine has been very sluggish at times while attempting to accelerate. *tr
