The right rear glass in the rear window of my 2012 ford f150 suddenly shattered as i was pulling into my driveway after a trip to the store. nothing appeared to hit it; it just made a loud pop and shattered. this is a safety concern for me.

Rear window exploded. i was driving and there were no other vehicles ahead of me or behind me. there is no indication of anything striking the window.

I have owned my truck for 5+ years now. on friday, february 22 started up my truck turned on my defrost and rear defrost sat in the car for a couple of minutes arrived at work. as i pulled up in the parking lot i heard a very disturbing loud noise. sounded like somebody had hit my truck with a rock or a bebe gun. i was beyond freaked out specially since i was the only one in the parking lot. i stayed in my truck for several minutes calmed myself down and decided to call my husband. explain to him what had just happened. as i'm talking to him i noticed in my rearview mirror... that the passenger side of the rear window was shattering as i was talking to my husband. i definitely thought somebody had to hit my vehicle with something. he told me to call the police if i felt threatened. at the same time coworker pulled up next to me i roll down my window and explained what had happened. he got out of the vehicle and said there was absolutely no visible of any type of hit. she said it must have shattered on its own. we were both pretty speechless but i was totally freaked out. called the insurance company filed a claim. when i took my vehicle to safelite for repairs. he advised me that ford trucks have had this problem for many years he also advised me that they are not doing anything about it so i would be wasting my time. i went online and did some research and sure enough, several people have had the same problem. if this is a defect that court is aware of my suggestion would be to fix the problem. what if i had my nieces and their car seats in the back in the window shattered and hurt my nieces??? i have always been very happy with the quality of my truck now i don't know if i will own another ford because of this major problem that they have that they are ignoring. 😡💩

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while the vehicle was parked, the rear passenger door failed to open from inside or outside the vehicle. the contact stated that this was the second occurrence of the failure. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while washing the vehicle, the contact noticed severe rust on the inside of the cabin corners all the way to the outer surface on both corners of the cabin. the vehicle was taken to an independent body shop and the contact was informed that this was a common failure with these vehicles. due to how the vehicles were designed, water would accumulate on the corners of the cabin. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

Less than a year ago, my passenger side windshield trim started making a flapping side. eventually it came off and i had to take it to the dealer and was charged over $200 to have it repaired. less than 1 month ago, the right side (driver) windshield trim started making the same noise. my vehicle has not had a new windshield in it so apparently the trim is defective. my vehicle has less than 70,000 miles on it. unfortunately, my dealer's extended warranty package does not cover this problem. even then, it would cost me $250.00 for the deductible. this problem started occurring when i reached driving speeds of 50+mph.

While traveling at 48 mph on 2 lane county rd i was in 4 wheel high when truck slammed into 1st gear causing truck to loose traction and ended up going into ditch. the truck never stalled out all gauges stopped working and tech light came on. i proceeded to be pulled from ditch. then turned truck off .checked truck over it has body damage nothing visible under truck so i started it gauges where working tech light was off radio stopped working but could be loose connection i proceeded to limp it home at about 20 mph was shifting hard at higher rpm i had it towed to body shop while at hospital.recall came on news i went to dealership they said bring it in they'll reprogram it . i'm wondering about damages caused by defect who will be paying for that? this defect is a danger and i can't believe it took ford 7 years from first report on here to address issue. and they claim only 5 cases of a crash which i have found 7 people who have had accidents because of it 4 of them where single vehicle 3 involved being rear ended because the sudden stop very disappointed in ford. *tr

To whom it may concern, this compliant is forwarded to you in due time. too many times when driving back from my families home in pa, i encounter dangerous conditions on the road with regard to large dump trucks that carry stone. this morning it happened again, when i passed a said truck, rocks came out of the top of the bed, hitting my hood and windshield in several areas. it goes without say how dangerous this matter can become. the situation is even worst, if your passing when the road in bumpy. i travel east from pa, route 15, route 206, route 80, route 46 and route 3. i had to replace windshields before, because of rocks flying off of dump trucks. please look into to this matter, before this issue causes more accidents. there must be regulations, that can be more strictly enforced. thank, you [xxx] *dl information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*jb

2012 f150 xlt super crew the passenger side rear door handles are inoperative. the inside and outside handles do not open the door. the lock actuator/latch are one complete assembly and appear to be stuck which makes it impossible to get the door open. the door currently does not work.

'takata recall" i took this truck to the bergstorm dealership in neenah,wi on 1/07/16 mileage was read 30564. the cable retainer for the rear driver door, could not be open. i did not know that the i had to paid for the diag, that they never told me there be charge for. he just said "here just signed this blank form and will let you know what is need to be done" i noticed that the rear driver door did not open on 9/2015 at the mileage of 27000. i felt that this is a defect.

I was on my way to work. it was approximately 6:30 am. i had my rear defroster on and all of a sudden i heard aloud bang. i pulled over got out looked around the truck to see if there was any damage. i found nothing. i got back in the truck went to back out and notice my back right side window had shattered. it was not hit by anything. i called ford about it and was told that there is nothing they can do on any warranty. the back window installed is around $900.

Incident occurred on saturday 2-21-15 at or about 3:30pm. the vehicle was traveling at about 30mph when a very loud bang was heard inside vehicle. after pulling over a quick glance around inside the vehicle revealed that the drivers side portion of the 3 piece rear glass of the cab has shattered. the glass remains in place but had "spiderwebed" and is completely shattered. upon inspection on the outside, no signs of impact are visible and the point of origin of the cracks appears to be the upper right hand corner where the glass is covered by the rubber molding. when this happened it was about 25 degrees outside and snowing, all snow had been removed from vehicle prior to driving and the rear de-frost/de-fogger had been run and turned off about 10 mins prior to the incident. a quick internet search reveals that this is a common issue for this glass with the heating elements in these conditions, several other complaints similar or identical to this have been made to this and other organizations as well as there have been several article written on this subject. i placed a call to ford customer service for assistance in replacing the glass as the extended warranty that was purchased through ford (ford esp premium) does not cover glass. i was told by the representative from ford that no assistance would be given as the vehicle is out of the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty. this is an obvious failure of the design from the factory that ford is aware of. *tr

On february 19 2015 i remote started my f150 in the driveway to warm it up. i got in the vehicle and put on the rear defroster to clear the mirrors and rear window. i heard a loud noise after about 30 seconds like an explosion inside vehicle. i looked around and noticed the drivers side rear glass was shattered. there was no external damage to the glass. previously this vehicle was taken to a ford dealer on march 27 2014 for an inoperative rear defroster system. the dealer diagnosed it as an open in the resister in the defroster grid and the whole rear window assembly was replaced. ford corporate told the dealer that the window couldn't shatter by turning on the defroster and would not replace the unit. i called the ford corporate number and lodged a complaint and was given a claim number. they had the dealer send them pictures of the shattered glass. ford corporate denied my claim and i was told to go through my insurance glass coverage. i feel that this is insurance fraud in my opinion. i took my vehicle to my glass repair shop and the owner took a careful look at the shattered glass and said that they should have replaced it no charge since there was no external damage. ford is laying the burden of a defective glass assembly off to my insurance company. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. on several occasions, while driving or idling, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted into third gear and then back into first gear and caused the vehicle to slow down without warning. the contact stated that the transmission malfunctioned. also, the wrench indicator appeared and the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the molded lead frame needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact called autonation ford frisco at (972) 763-5523 (located at 6850 tx-121, frisco, tx 75034) where the dealer confirmed that no recall was associated with the vin and referenced the molded lead frame connector. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number 16v248000 (power train). the manufacturer was notified and the contact was advised to call nhtsa. the failure mileage was unavailable. *tt *tr

On multiple occasions while driving on the highway, snow has entered the driver cabin through the dash ventilation system and blown snow into the cab and caused moisture to freeze to the inside of the front and side windows. the ice forms in a few seconds and mostly block forward visibility and view of the side mirrors. the vehicle coolant gauge is showing the truck is warmed and hot air is blowing from defrost vents but not capable to melt or clear ice or improve visibility, even after 20 minutes. i have to scrape the ice with my hand to create a peep hole so i can see. on one occasion when the event happened, the streets and landscape were blanketed with white snow and ice and it became extremely difficult for me to follow the road and safely exit. i was scared i was going to crash into another car or drive/slide off the road. the dealer has inspected my truck and found the ventilation to be clean (no snow or ice build up) and the intake screen to be properly placed. problem is still occurring. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving at various speeds, the undercarriage shield dropped to the ground. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician diagnosed that the undercarriage shield needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

The lower control arms on my 2012 ford f-150 ecoboost have excessive rust/corrosion. separating arms have recently been linked to steering problems up to and including a crash. *tr
