ACCELERATOR PEDAL 1

Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2012 Ford F-150

When there was snow and ice on the highways i put my truck in 4 wheel drive and when turned back into 2 wheel drive i began to notice a grinding and vibration noise that occurred when turning. then couple weeks later the noise started when backing out causing truck to shake and lose power to barely back out. this noise continued and has gotten worse. was taken to dealership and looked over. updates were made as well as oil change but days later noise came back. since 2/12/15 my truck has been in the service department four times and has performed recommendations by ford but days later noise comes back. the last time my truck was in i was told by the owner and service manager my truck is not fixable as they were informed other 2012 f150's are having same issues and an investigation is being done. since this my truck is shaking more backing up, jerking the vehicle on the highway as if losing power than will gain power and jolt forward, i hear this grinding noise all the time when driving at different speeds from 30-60 mph, turns, and backing up. the other issue is when truck gets to 60 mph or higher it does not shift down unless i let up on pedal and then push it again. i am feeling unsafe in this vehicle as twice now i have heard a popping noise while driving with this noise. the dealership has told me there is nothing more they can do. the issue has been reported to ford and they have done nothing for me. i want to get rid of this truck as i do not feel safe driving it like this. *tr

Gears flash on and off, then the accelerator slows down. goes into nuetral automatically. randomly shifts between gears causing truck to pick up speed or drastically lose speed without warning. shifts very hard as well. this has happened while i was driving in our neighborhood as well as on the highway. seems to happen everytime i drive above 65mph, but occasionally in the neighborhood. the random shifting of gears happened first around 4 years ago, but has been a safety risk for the last 5-6 months due to the increase in it happening.

I was with my family on the way to church. i was making a right turn out of our neighborhood onto the highway when all of the sudden there was a complete loss in power and was unable to resume acceleration. the highway also has a moderate incline in slope which caused the vehicle to slow dramatically. we were almost rear-ended from the car heading in the same direction which was originally a substantial distance away. luckily the car that was approaching from behind was able to slow down fast enough considering we had a 1 year and 4 year old son in the back seat. i called the local dealership and the earliest appointment they could offer to check the problem was on wednesday 10/10/2014. this is over 3 days after the incident occurred. the truck only has 40,000 miles on it so i began researching this issue. i discovered that there are more than a substantial amount of complaints and it seems ford is aware of the issue and is even attempting to modify the air induction system and re flash the pcm. with issues like the millions of vehicles being recalled for airbags that have led to serious injury or death, far beyond the manufacture originally becoming aware of the issues. how long is the issue regarding the 2011-2013 ford f150 ecoboost going to remain shoved under the rug? how many lives have to be lost before ford takes accountability for putting the public at risk. in their report to this specific issue (on the nhtsa website), it is more than obvious they have identified a defect in the 2012 ford f150 and the ecoboost engines within the trucks. can you help me understand how and why they are not being held accountable for risking the lives of many people. also, why is the nhtsa allowing ford to shrug this off and close this investigation? there is a clear defect present that has the potential of leading to loss of life. is this not pure negligence? *tr

While getting on the highway and accelerating, my truck began to shake and lose power. i took it in to the shop afterwards and they had to replace all spark plugs and 1 ignition coil. after researching this, i found out this has been an issue on several 2011 - 2013 model eco boost. please force a recall, as i do not feel i need to pay for something ford is responsible for. *tr

For the fourth time, my 2012 ford f150 ecoboosted engine stalled or shuttered when hauling a load (trailer or heavy bed load) in a high humidity environment. i was pulling a u-haul trailer behind my truck and it was raining heavily. when i punched the accelerator to pass a slower vehicle, the engine stalled, sputtered, and nearly shut down. the "check engine" light came on for about a minute, then turned off once the engine had cleared what felt like condensation, and returned to normal operating mode. when i took the vehicle to the dealership to complain (for the 4th time), they told me that they were of aware of a design problem with the intercooler on 2011-2013 turbocharged vehicles, but since they could not verify the defect "code," ford would not reimburse them for the service fix. this is clearly a safety and environmental issue as the service bulletin that ford issued to correct the problem, requires replacement of the catalytic converter as well. frustrated! *tr

While traveling on the interstate, my vehicle starting shuttering as i changed lanes to pass another vehicle. as i accelerated, the engine lost power, and the engine light started flashing. my vehicle continues to shutter under hard acceleration. *tr

While traveling at 55mph, up a slight incline on the highway, i pulled out to pass another vehicle. as i pressed on the accelerator i had no engine power and the f150, lariat, eco boost began to slow. the check engine light came on and flashed. i let off of the accelerator and then pressed it down again. this time i had power. i pulled back into the lane and everything appeared to be in working order. *tr

I purchased a new 2012 ford f150 platinum 4x4 ecoboost truck in june 2012. around 2014, i experienced a complete loss of power and major shaking or shuddering when i went to pass a vehicle in the highway. i thought it was a misfire issue and called the ford dealer i purchased it from. they asked at the time if it was consistent and i said it was not. they advised that i should just keep an eye on this and that i had an extended warranty. i was told to bring it in if it continued. i have also done a good number of all maintenance related check ups and services with the ford dealership i bought the vehicle from. it happened a few more times over a 1 year period. i changed the spark plugs as i thought it was a misfire but it continues to happen. the last episode nearly resulted in a collision. i took my vehicle to a ford dealership near my home and they tested it. computer reading says it is a p04300 - bad inner cooler. fix is $1700 per dealer (new inner cooler, new catalytic converter, new boots, new plugs and adding a shield) but that since i am now at 88k, emission warranty ended at 80k and i have no financial support from ford. i advised i was never told about an emissions warranty and that this is not my driving or mileage issue and that ford acknowledges this is a design flaw in the charge air cooler and had a redesign. this is a major safety issue and if ford recognizes this as their design flaw and is now happening to my ford vehicle, i need them to help accept this as a warrantable item and accept the repair from the dealership. please assist. kindest regards.

Pulled into parking lot and truck stalled. could not steer. could not accelerate. warning light popped up said low oil pressure. was not on a hill. ran vehicle health report through ford sync service and everything came back ok. will call dealership next. had my daughter with me and it scared me to death. *tr

Driving to work on june 9 at 8:00am after a hard rainstorm, on south memorial parkway just north of green cove road, traveling about 40 to 45, slowly accelerating, the rear end of the f150 locked up, tires squealing, began to fishtail to the right for a few seconds, then released. i thought i had been hit from the rear, no cars behind me. temperature gauges were fine, the gear display on the dash board showed only gears 1, 2, and 3. gears 4, 5, and 6 were not displayed. i sped up and the transmission would not change, i slowed down and the transmission would not change, i eased the transmission into neutral and pull to the side of the road and put the transmission in park. the gears 4, 5, 6 were redisplayed. there were no fluids coming from the transmission under the truck. i eased back into drive and noticed a little bit of a shudder around 3rd gear. i took the vehicle to the ford dealership and they have told me that there was no computer code and it was likely to be a computer glitch and there was nothing they could do. i asked if it would be recorded as a complaint and was told no, that unless they could witness the event or there was a computer code, the complaint would not be documented....i escalated to the service manager, we agreed to drive the truck for a bit and see if they could reproduce the problem, but, that there was nothing else t hat could be done. obviously, if i had been doing 70 mph, the vehicle would have been much more difficult to control. if you have any questions, please ask. *tr

Multiple occasions go to step on the gas and the truck just doesn't accelerate, feels like a misfire or almost about to stall, this usually happens when at a complete stop at a light and light turns green, has also happened when rolling in traffic or trying to get onto highway at the on ramp. another time driving on highway, stepped on gas and truck lurched forward as if someone hit me from behind and rpm kept accelerating even though i was not stepping on the gas. have brought this to dealer and they claim they can't find anything wrong. i believe these are particularly dangerous because i'm expecting the truck to move so i can go along with flow of traffic and it just hangs on me putting me in a bad situation or it launches forward making me momentarily jerk the wheel and lose control. possible known issue? Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle lost power. the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the failure recurred several other times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls for the failure and provided case number: cas12309457. the failure mileage was 7,000.

I was driving my f150 2012 ecoboost on an onramp getting on to the freeway. it was raining, wet and about 50 degrees. i accelerated from about 35 to 65 mph to change lanes and get in line with traffic. the engine lost power and the truck started shaking. there was about a mile stretch where the vehicles power was completely unpredictable. when i let my foot off the gas the truck would stop shaking. this was very scary as cars were bearing down on me from behind and i had to get over to the far right lane incase i needed to come to a stop. the vehicle then seemed to function normally and i drove about 5 miles straight to the ford dealership. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently with a rapid increase in engine rpms. the brake pedal was engaged and the vehicle came to a stop. there were no warning indicators illuminated at the time of failure. the vehicle resumed normally upon restarting however, the failure recurred four times. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis but the technician was unable to locate the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Driving on highway went to accelerate to pass semi pulled beside him. engine light began flashing truck lost power and began shaking had to hit brakes as car approached in opposite direction almost had head on collision. made it to rear of semi and pulled over just i time to avoid accident. *tr

Attempted to pass a slow moving vehicle by accelerating quickly. my vehicle initially accelerated and then violently shook and stopped accelerating while alongside the vehicle i was attempting to pass. i was stuck next to the vehicle i was attempting to pass and almost struck by oncoming traffic. engine light was flashing and then went off after about 2 miles. everyday since, the engine light is lit solid at all times. taking vehicle in for service tomorrow morning to see what they say. after reading complaints on-line related to the same issue, seems as though i will not be happy about what they are going to tell me. *tr

I was traveling on a 4-lane, 65mph highway when i floored the gas pedal. the truck failed to accelerate as it should have. instead, it acted as if it was coasting. there was no power for several seconds even when i moved the gas pedal to different positions. when the truck finally seemed to resume power, it started to shake violently. the shocked passenger and i looked at each other, then i checked to see if there were parts strewn on the road behind me. suddenly, it smoothed out and there were no more issues on that trip. i had been driving that truck for about 10 hours with various forms of precipitation at the time. this was december 21, 2013. the second incident was on december 28, 2013. weather conditions were sunny and dry. i had been driving about 50 minutes. i floored the gas pedal again to overtake a vehicle and was barely able to overtake due to no power. again, i worked the throttle to no avail. the truck finally recovered but started shaking violently again. as before, it smoothed out. i took my truck to a local ford dealership where they told me it was showing no codes and that their techs could not reproduce the symptoms i had mentioned. i checked on nhtsa website and found this issue is under investigation. i do not agree with the service bulletins. my theory is that there is a computer programming problem specific to this direct-injection, turbo gasoline engine. i plan on trading for something other than an ecoboost engine, as this problem is dangerous. *tr

Traveling on interstate highway from st louis to memphis in right hand lane. accelerated to pass slower traffic when truck begin to shake violently, lurching forward and back. all the while losing speed and made me fearful to attempt to try to pass or merge. this continued all the way back to memphis. i took the vehicle in for service and described the problem to the service tech. when i picked the truck up the service ticket said "could not duplicate the problem. since then the problem has gotten worse. i never know when it will occur. it could be rain or shine and there doesn't seem to be a pattern. it is now a weekly/daily occurrence. it has contributed to several near miss accidents. i am afraid to drive anywhere except side streets and i avoid the interstate hwy. the problem is so bad and the vehicle shakes so violently i was looking in the mirror to see what i had ran over. it is a serious safety issue that my ford dealer denies exists! *tr

I experienced a sudden loss of power in my 2012 ford f150 super crew with ecoboost engine.. this happened 3 times on 11-22-13 at interstate speeds, i was unable to pass slower vehicles that were running below the posted speed limit. each time i tried to accelerate past in the passing lane the vehicle shook violently and it was as though i had run out of fuel. as soon as i took my foot off the accelerator pedal the truck would run again. the 3rd time this happened a semi truck was barreling up behind me and there was a semi on the side of me, i noticed the semi beside me moving into my lane and tried to accelerate to get clear and the semi behind me almost ran me down as my vehicle lost power and i had to pull over. this time i had to shut off the engine and restart it for the vehicle to run right again. after the 3rd time my truck went from getting 18 mpg to 12.3 mpg and ran rough as though it was cutting out. the weather was rainy and the vehicles ahead of me were throwing up quite a bit of moisture. i took the truck to the ford dealer the next day 11-23-13 and they kept the truck for repairs. i am concerned as i and my wife could have very easily been killed of maimed yesterday because of this engine failure. if this happens to some family, they could have a fatal accident and i don't want that on my conscience. if this is a recurring problem maybe there should be a recall to fix these trucks. thank you for your consideration. *tr

Loss of power during acceleration. entire truck vibrating. was in the passing lane in heavy traffic and bogged down. vibration stopped when letting off gas pedal. started right back as soon as i tried to speed up again. after a few times it went away. *tr

When accelerating from a stop in a right hand turn, the truck lost power and began to sputter and misfire. this is the 4th time this has happened to this f-150 off road 4x4 with ecoboost since i purchased it brand new. after the second time it happened, the check engine light came on so i took it to the dealer. the fix was a deflector plate installed for the twin turbo. they did not replaced the cac (charge air cooler). i was told this would most definitely fix the issue. clearly, this did not fix the issue since i experienced the same issue yesterday. this is a potentially dangerous situation as i was turning onto very busy m59 in howell. i turned in front of a semi. thank goodness i had enough room since i had no acceleration after the turn. had i not given myself enough room and chanced it, the semi may not have been able to slow down in time. this vehicle should be recalled and ford should discontinue making the ecoboost engine until they get it right. *tr

I live in lake geneva, wi. i was driving home from work in the rain and had a truck pull out in front of me when i was going 70 mph. i was unable to slow down, so i hit the gas pedal. the truck stalled completely and would not accelerate. it felt the truck missed the down shift and never went back into gear. it was raining at the time of the incident around 630 pm. was just scary as i had a semi behind me and another vehicle to my right that i was trying to avoid. the truck is a 2012 f150 lariat with the ecoboost engine. *tr

I was on a trip from oklahoma to florida. i stopped for gas in louisiana. when i got on to the on ramp to return to the interstate i floored the gas pedal to get in front of a semi truck, and it lost all power almost being hit by semi truck. after my trip i took my pickup truck to my ford dealer to have it checked out.they told me they can not find anything wrong with it. this is a very dangerous problem that needs to be fixed. me and my wife could have been killed if the semi truck did not have room to move over to miss us. *tr

I was on a highway going 65 mph, the conditions were drizzle/very humid, roughly 90 degrees outside. there was a slow car in front of me so i got in the on coming traffics lane to pass the car, but when i stomped on the gas pedal there was no response. my truck wouldn't accelerate so i pushed it a few more times and still nothing. there was a car coming and i almost got hit head on because of this incident and probably would've been badly injured had i not gotten back in my lane just before the car passed. the engine returned to normal after about 20 seconds and i was able to accelerate and finally get around the car. this is only 1 of the 5 times it has happened in this specific vehicle, its happened to me three times, and twice when i've loaned the truck to my father. it only happens in humid or rainy conditions and i'm guessing has something to do with the intercooler. but i'm not an auto guy so i wouldn't know. i called ford corporate and they said go to the dealer, the dealer didn't see any codes that were thrown during these incidents so they said they could not help me. it was [xxx], and ford needs to step up and help us who have defected ecoboost engines. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

We were returning from arkansas in our f150 with the ecoboost engine in rain/heavy mist. we were on the interstate for a long period of time and when i went to pass a slower vehicle the truck just shook and wouldn't accelerate. it happened again 1.5 hours later in the same conditions, truck would not accept anything beyond 3/8 throttle. this happened before when we were in the rain (coming from arkansas) with the exact same conditions (year ago). i haven't taken the truck to the dealer as from reading several places there isn't a true fix at this point. some people are drilling holes in their intercoolers trying to drain the water that appears to be the issue. *tr

While accelerating to enter highway the vehicle lurched and lost power and the engine started shaking violently.i pulled off the road and shut the engine off. i started it again and it seemed to run fine for a time. later while under a load it would miss. the check engine light came on. this could have caused an accident in this heavy traffic. i took it to the dealer and they ordered parts, but didn't seem to confident of being able to fix the problem.. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f150. the contact stated that while traveling 70 mph, the vehicle shifted into 4 -wheel drive independently as the traction control light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was merged to the side of the road. after powering off and restarting the vehicle it resumed to normal operation. the failure occurred several times. the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the air actuators needed to be replaced. the failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage 42,000.

I have a 2012 ford f-150 with the ecoboost engine. while slowly accelerating at higher speeds (generally around 50 to 70 mph), the engine misses terribly on multiple cylinders and the truck jerks and lunges violently all while losing power and speed. it happens frequently, but most often when slowly accelerating to maintain speed up a hill or pass another vehicle. the loss of power is extremely dangerous, especially while passing other vehicles on a highway. *tr

While attempting to pass on interstate 85 in major traffic the engine unexpectedly had a sharp reductions in engine power during acceleration. this has occurred twice in the last month. *tr

This complaint pertains to the 3.5 liter ecoboost engine. i was driving on i-95 at approximately 70 mph with the cruise control activated. there were four lanes of traffic at this location. when i attempted to accelerate around a slower vehicle, the engine shuttered and went into limp mode. i had to drive onto the berm, nearly causing a crash. the engine returned to normal after several minutes and i was able to continue my trip from pennsylvania to north carolina. this engine shutter occurred three more times during my return to pa. the last time the service engine light remained activated. the loss of engine power on a busy multiple lane highway is an extreme hazard and could result in a serious vehicle crash. it is time for ford to issue a recall for this known issue. *tr

On 2 sept 2013, in florida, i was attempting to cross a two lane road into the median and merge into traffic going the opposite direction. when i attempted to accelerate the vehicle immediately started to sputter and had loss of power that barely allowed me to cross before traffic arrived. the rough running continued after i attempted to merge into traffic and continued for about a 1/4 mile before where i was able to exit. it started running correct shortly after that. the weather was clear and around mid 80's, mileage was around 9500, speed was 0-50 mph. the second incident occurred on 27 sept 2013, in missouri, as i was attempting to pass traffic on i-70. the vehicle again started to sputter with dramatic loss of power that didn't allow it to maintain traffic speeds. the check engine light started flashing and i continued to the next exit. i pulled over and shut the vehicle off and started it again. the engine light became steady and remained on for the remainder of the 900 mile trip. it is being taken in for service. the weather was rainy and in the 60's. mileage was around 11000 and speed was around 65-70 mph. *tr

When returning from cullowee, nc, i was on the entrance ramp of i-40 east. at approximately 45 mph, i pressed on the accelerator to increase to highway speed. the engine started sputtering and the entire vehicle started shaking violently. the vehicle never gained speed until i let of the accelerator completely and slowly applied pressure to the accelerator again. the violent shaking of the vehicle and the resulting dangerous merge into traffic terrified my wife, child and grandchild. *tr

1st time happened when trying to pass a big truck, pick up lost engine power during acceleration that i barely made it, opposite traffic coming, vehicle lost all chances to made on time i was afraid not to pass on time this is a hazard issue if it happens again, i had to stop and shut down vehicle because i had a engine check massage at the main screen of dashboard with the wrench character image, after i restart vehicle everything was normal. 2nd time happen when made trip to texas on december 2013, when trying to enter freeway i had to speed up and suddenly pick up again lost power and start shaking i could no gain any more speed over 50-55 mph i almost got rear end it by a car on the back that was already in the high speed stream. this time the check engine came on, ;later started to drive ok. when i came back to home town i took vehicle to check the check engine light at autozone and retrieve the p0430 code. i took vehicle to dealer because still under warranty and explain everything. they check vehicle and retrieve the same code , they replaced only the driver side catalytic converter. i was researching on forums and they commonly have to replace not only cat but have to change intercooler, change plugs and re-flash ecu and or place a deflection plate on current intercooler but home town dealer only replace cat, i don't think this will fix issue. please push ford to address this issue, for experience this needs to be classified as a recall because safety issue is involved when you lost power when is need it. the actual intercooler on pre 2013 is not good because tends to accumulate condensation and this is sucked under boost condition and probably causing multiple misfires that leads to unexpected power lost and vehicle shaking. my wife and i bought this f150 new on 2012 ecoobost engine re great but this issue needs to be addressed. *tr

I was traveling at 65mph and went to pass and at acceleration the truck stalled and almost died. i almost got rear ended by a semi i had to pull off on shoulder to a complete stop then accelerate again. my truck has the ecoboost engine and hope they can recall and fix problem before somebody gets killed. *tr

We were driving on i5 south in california with our cruise control set for 70 mph. we were coming into heavy traffic so hit the button to end cruise. it didn't work so my husband hit the brake and it didn't disengage the cruise control. if my husband would press the brake, it would slow down but when he took his foot off the brake, it would accelerate up to 90 mph. there were big trucks all around us and other vehicles and we couldn't make it to an off ramp for 5 miles. when we did, my husband slowed the truck enough to put it in park but the engine revved super high and we shut it off. we turned it back on a couple of times before we took off to finish our trip. we did not use the cruise control again for the rest of the trip. we took our ford to the dealer that monday and they said they could not find anything wrong with the cruise control. my question was what if it happens again or somebody dies and he didn't have an answer and said he would contact ford. *tr

I was merging onto an interstate, accelerating from 20 mph to 65 mph to blend in with heavy traffic. the engine began to spit, sputter and shake and bogged down and wouldn't exceed 50mph. with a tractor trailer coming i had no other choice but to abort my merge and pull to the side of the road. i then waited for all traffic to subside before i made another attempt to pull onto the highway. i took the truck back to ford. they could not duplicate the problem. i have had the truck in for many issues(slow speed shudder, high speed shudder, emergency brake issues, warped rotors, electronic problems, tire issues, acceleration hesitations, rough idle, failed brake pump, and more with less than 30, 000 miles) all of which ford states are characteristics of the vehicle! this is my family vehicle that i transport my 3 children and their friends. what will it take for ford to resolve the problems they have with these trucks?! do people have to be killed before anything is done........ like with chevy!!!!! ford is covering up the issues they have with the #1 selling truck in america. it is a shame that people have a facebook page on the problems they have with their f150 because ford covers up the problems because they don't know what to do to solve them. they told us it is a characteristic of the truck..........really!!!!!!! . *tr

I switched lanes to pass a truck and there was another vehicle in the lane so i stepped on the throttle to the floor and it hesitated then started to die. then the truck started to shake along with the steering wheel. the check engine light came on and it continued to sputter and shake for a mile or so then it started to come out of the problem. the check engine light is still lit and my aftermarket stereo can pull the check engine codes and they were p0300 p0304 p0306 p0306. it was about 75 outside and the road was dry. this is the 4th time this has happened. the truck now has 26,300 miles on it. *tr

While traveling to florida from tennessee we had stopped at a gas station. while pulling out into traffic and accelerating, the truck started shaking violently due to misfire indicated by flashing check engine light. the miss was so bad that i immediately had to pull over. i shut the engine off to clear the on board computer. the truck ran fine afterward, but the check engine light stayed on. this was a bit scary as we could have been hit due to the rapid loss of power while merging into traffic. weather conditions were very rainy. we had driven thru rain for ~7 hours off and on. i believe this to be a known problem that ford has yet to fix with condensation in the turbo's intake on the v6 ecoboost engines. i am headed to the dealer when i get back in town. *tr

Since i purchased my truck there has been seven different occasions where i have accelerated to enter an interstate or pass a vehicle and the engine lost power and i could not accelerate. i have taken the truck in and they have replaced parts and said it was repaired. this past weekend i was entering the interstate in a construction area where barriers were on both sides of the interstate. i accelerated to enter the interstate and there were cars and a semi approaching where i entered. i accelerated to get up to speed with traffic and the truck stalled and would not take fuel. the approaching semi could not stop in time and had to swerve to miss me. he missed hitting me by inches and almost hit another car. with the barriers in place i could not get off the interstate when the truck stalled. i have the eco-boost engine and the vehicle is currently at the dealer. they are telling me they can not find anything that is causing the failure. this failure could have caused multiple injuries or deaths had the semi not been able to avoid hitting me or the other cars. i personally feel this is a safety issue with this engine. *tr

I had the tsb (for known surging issue) performed on my truck (2012 super crew 4x4) in may at 25k miles. everything seemed better, until... this past saturday, i left the house at 5am for a 7.5 hour/ 350 mile drive from home. it was raining continuously for the first two hours. sometimes hard rain, but it didn't stop for the first 2 hours. i was driving back country roads with mostly 55 mph limits and rolling hills. given the weather, type of roads, time of day, etc. i drove gently for the trip, never put my foot in it. then, when going up a steeper hill that required more throttle than the others to keep my speed up, the truck started hesitating. a lot. more than it ever had before the tsb. and then, just after the hesitation began, something extra occurred that had never happened to it before. the truck started to shudder. this shuddering was akin to driving over road shoulder rumble strips on steroids. as soon as i let off the gas, the shuddering stopped. i gently pushed the pedal, shuddering was back and just as bad. let off again. it stopped. pushed the pedal again. it came back. pushed the throttle once more, and it had stopped. i slowly pushed further on the throttle and it didn't do it any longer. by this time i was down to about 35-40 mph going up the hill. so i pushed down the pedal almost to the floor. the truck kicked down and accelerated with only slight moments of hesitation. not once did the check engine light come on. . thus, i had a textbook case of exactly what the tsb was supposed to solve, but didn't. *tr

Ecoboost engine: 7/06/13 first time after driving 90 miles on i-10, pulled off in rest area. when getting back on the interstate, went to accelerate to match traffic and engine fell on it's nose, felt like a stall then bucked, misfired , lost all power. when lifting off accelerator engine returned to normal. attempting to accelerate again, engine lost power again. it felt like either bad gas or ignition failure. was able to get truck up to speed using cruise control. with a light accelerator touch, was able to make in home from pensacola to winter haven, fl. filled up with different fuel and problem seemed to go away, so i did not take it to dealer. second occurrence 11/16/13 while heading to pensacola after driving several hours (70-75mph), when passing a semi going uphill on i-10, faster traffic was approaching from behind, so i attempted to accelerate to get around the semi to clear the left lane . engine fell on it's nose once again, stalled, misfired, shook and lost power. the traffic was upon us in seconds. i was able to get truck back up to speed by gently using cruise. this time took truck back to dealer. they installed a "shield or partition" in the charge-air and did a reprogram. current mileage is 14,800. dealer did not seem confident that this was the fix. we will see. *tr

Myself and my wife was traveling on a short four lane road when i attempted to accelerate to pass a slower vehicle. my f150 engine shuddered, i let off the accelerator, the shudder stopped. i then tried to accelerate again and nothing. it was like i was coasting, i had no power from the engine to accelerate. i continued to try and accelerate but nothing. this lasted for 15-20 seconds then it started to accelerate normally. this same type of lost of power has happened 3 times since then. the first two times it was raining heavily, the last two it was not. i have read about the issues documented with the f150 eco boost engine and i am sure this is that problem. unfortunately i read it after i bought the truck!! *tr

I was traveling south in the outside lane on i 95 (florida) during heavy rain, approaching a slower moving vehicle in front of me. i changed lanes and accelerated to approximately 70 mph, when the engine suddenly lost power, began to misfire and rapidly decelerated. the vehicle had been traveling in rainy conditions at highway speed for approximately 1 hour. since i had committed to make the overtaking maneuver and for the few seconds i was unable to accelerate and/or pull back into my original lane as i was traveling adjacent to the vehicle i was overtaking, i realized that there was another vehicle fast approaching me in the inside (fast/over taking) lane. luckily the driver was observant enough to release of the impending collision a head if he did not take evasive action and slow down. after a few seconds i was able to pull back into outside/slow lane. this loss of power and misfire continued for another 45 minutes, up until i exited the highway and drove to my local dealership. *tr

While accelerating to pass, truck started vibrating, had loss of power and increased rpm on tach truck practically stopped in its tracks first time it's happened. will be contacting dealer. definitely could be hazard-as in heavy traffic so i hope ford takes notice before people die. *tr

The first incident 6/28/13, when accelerating to get onto a highway the vehicle stopped accelerating somewhere before 60 and lost all power. the speedometer pegged at 60 and the rpms jumped to redline, but there was no power being produced. the vehicle took at nose dive and would not allow fuel to the engine until the rpms settled to idle and i was able to feather the gas pedal in order to regain control of the engine. the second incident 8/9/13, when going to pass someone at highway speeds on i-95 the vehicle fell flat again, same scenario, this time the check engine light came on. same actions as above, with feathering the gas pedal and able to regain control of the engine. i brought my vehicle to the dealership and the intercooler was replaced at 7600 miles. thankfully there were no accidents in both scenarios, these events could've been catastrophic both being on heavily traveled highways. at 500 miles i had the check engine light come on and one of the catalytic converters needed to be replaced. *tr

When passing and increasing speed, vehicle lost acceleration. no accident occurred but could have caused a head on or other accident. *tr

When driving during rush hour traffic in atlanta, georgia, i moved to the passing lane to pass a slower vehicle. when i pressed the accelerator on my 2012 ford f-150 (with ecotech motor), my truck did not accelerate and it felt as if my truck had lost all power. this lost acceleration required the vehicle behind me to take evasive action and almost resulted in an accident involving numerous vehicles. *tr

Raining out, went to pass a slower moving vehicle. my truck lost all power and shuddered like it was going over speed bumps. check engine light came on and truck couldn't do more that 40 mph. had to keep a level head to avoid a head on collision and get back behind vehicle i attempted to pass. very scary. this continued to happen every time you gave it hard throttle throughout the trip. this is an ecoboost f150 with the twin turbo v6 engine. *tr

I was driving home from a golf tournament in the rain. i pulled over on the side of the road to put drops in my eyes. when i started back i pulled out and when i got up to about 20 mph the vehicle stopped accelerating and started shaking very badly. i let off the gas and pushed back down again same thing happened. it felt like the engine was locking up, after about 20-30 seconds (now with cars on my bumper) it smoothed out. no other issues on the rest of the trip. total trip was about an hour. *tr

At a speed of approximately 65 mph while on a 2 lane highway, i accelerated to pass a semi truck. as i was along side the truck, my vehicle decelerated and begin to shudder(felt as if front tires went flat). i was able to pull back behind the truck and off the road. the vehicle recovered and i continued my trip. it was raining at the time of the incident. this was a very dangerous event, fortunately i was able to pull back in behind the truck to avoid oncoming traffic. *tr
