Intermittent no-start. all electrics work, but engine will not engage/crank. "cannot detect intel-key" message on dash board read-out.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving approximately 30 mph, the service engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle started to lose power. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the led brain speed sensor failed and needed replacement. the dealer (sebring ford in sebring, florida) was contacted by phone, but the vehicle was not taken in for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 67,000.

When trying to shift into reverse the dash light will not illuminate, will not shift into reverse, and maintenance wrench light comes on. i am able to shift into neutral, drive, and any other gear with dash illumination and operate the vehicle. reverse will not shift and after multiple tries it finally takes and "jolts" backwards without warning and allows me to backup. however dash light never changes and am unsure when it will shift. i am told by the dealership that it is a malfunctioning "transmission range sensor". my vehicle matches the make, model, and year of an active recall: #12v190000 however i am informed by the local ford dealership that my vin number does not match the recall list in oasis? and therefore is not covered by ford. i have had no issues with my vehicle up until this point and cannot believe that ford is refusing to cover this obvious safety hazard.

This is the fourth time my vehicle has had an srs fault. repair dealer: bob thomas ford, 310 w coliseum blvd, fort wayne, in 46805 vehicle purchased from a ford dealer in west lafayette, indiana in march 2014 with approximately 22k miles and under warranty. vehicle had been under a fomoco lease agreement. 2011 ford f-150 xlt vin# [xxx] current mileage (9/11/2017): 83610 8/3/2015 mileage: 45736 invoice number: [xxx] driver's side seat belt pre-tensioner replaced under warranty. 10/28/2015 mileage: 50687 invoice number: [xxx] 1. high resistance in driver side wiring. 2. cleaned connector and reseated. 3. no parts. i was charge $236.99 and i still contend this was a warranty issue and i should not have been charged. 5/2/2016 mileage: 57414 invoice number: [xxx] passenger side pre-tensioner replaced under warranty. on april 29, 2016, i contacted ford motor company customer relations and opened a case concerning these srs problems with this vehicle. time: 3:15 pm case# [xxx] agent: [xxx] vehicle safety is a responsibility of the manufacturer. i am getting ready to go on vacation the end of this week and i would like to have this issue fixed asap, please. in the last 20+ years i have never owned a vehicle that has had this many issues, concerning the safety restraint system. i contacted ford customer relation again this morning and have a ref number [xxx] i have owned several cars with srs during the last 25+ years and not had this many problems with any vehicle i have owned. up until now. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Blend door actuator failed

This week i had a total failure of my epas(electric power assisted steering) in a 2011 f150. i'm very thankful that this happened while i was in a parking lot on a military base. i didn't have the slightest clue on what was going on with my vehicle until i had to do a little research and the over following concerns reported about the epas shocked me! being a mother of two little boys i've very great full that this did not happen while i was driving on the highway. ford needs to address this concern because the outcome could have been very bad for my family.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. on several occasions, the lights on the instrument panel randomly illuminated off and on. the doors made a dinging noise; however, none of them were ajar. in addition, the parking brake indicator randomly illuminated. the contact also stated that the doors failed to lock from the inside and the contact had to use the key to manually lock the doors from the outside. on another occasion, the vehicle would not start. the contact stated that the vehicle was diagnosed at a battery shop where it was determined that the faulty body control module drained the battery. the vehicle was taken to jeff ford of pullman (2590 s grand ave, pullman, wa 99163, (509) 334-6000) where it was diagnosed that the body control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 140,000.

2011 f150 steering failure , when failed steering failed stability control and steering went. while making turn steering would " lock" preventing tempary control of pickup, before completing trip power assist went totally out. contacted ford they state that the power assist needs to be replaced from description alone, they also had recalled multiple other vehicles for this issue how ever the f 150 is not one of those and it will cost 3 k to fix.... umm if all your other vehicles are doing this and this one is doing the same thing then its a defect! the only thing that helped me prevent the accident from happening was my training as an evo ( emergency vehicle operator) at the time of failure i was turning in front of semi , if i would not have taken the ditch and prevented measures this would have been a quad fatality . truck is parked at a dress given unable to drive home

When driving and you make slight turns and go back to straighten wheel out the steering locks up for a few seconds. from all the research i have done it seems like the electronic power steering assist is the issue. i noticed this to happen as we were driving through the mountains. i see online others having the same issue. it is very dangerous. the wheel gets very hard to hold onto and i would hate to have to be in a big turn and can't turn the wheel back especially if we are going at a normal speed. this will act up at anytime on any type of road. from research this can be quiet expensive for the repair, as it is causing other things to be affected that may need repairs as well.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving at any speed, the speedometer fluctuated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer: ford of clermont, clermont, fl, where the vehicle was kept for three days for diagnostic test. the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure and the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer at sunset ford, orlando, fl where the failure could not be duplicated. the dealer advised that there was one recall and performed the recall repair. the contact also stated that the failure recurred and the vehicle lost power. the wrench icon warning light illuminated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and told the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. the contact alerted the dealer at: key scales ford, leesburg, florida, that the vehicle would be towed to the service center. the failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

I have a 2011 f150 truck it's saying power steering assist fault, service advancetrac, when i turn the wheel it makes a loud noice still drivable but dangerous. i have looked everywhere online there is recalls on this exact same thing just not on my vin for this truck but same year an truck has recalls. this is very dangerous an very expensive to fix your self . this is a ford default an they are not wanting to fix i'm willing to go through all levels to see to it they fix it.

Passenger side seat warmer failure

Driving down the road around 30mph and lost power steering. "power steering assist fault" appeared on the message center in the gauge cluster. pulled over safely and restarted the vehicle and the message was still on the message center. power steering is still absent.

My 2011 f150 rear window pane broke about 1 minute after turning on the rear defrost as i was driving down my street. this needs to be recalled as it is a very dangerous situation to have a window breaking directly over the rear seats. kids and passengers are being put in a dangerous situation by entering the backseat. this is clearly a problem as others have stated. ford and my extended warranty will not cover the window unless it is diagnosed, however i have contacted 5 dealerships who said they are unable to diagnose a problem like this. i can no longer have anyone ride in my truck in the backseat.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while stationary, the vehicle would not start when prompted on several occasions. palm coast ford in palm coast, florida was made aware of the failure and replaced the battery, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was aware of the failure and stated that there were no recalls. the failure mileage was 68,000.

While driving my vehicle on the rd rather i'm going 20 or 70 mph the truck will down shift and up shift rapidly and the shift indicator light on dash will flicker off and on then eventually goes into a neutral mode and won't excellerate then i'll pull over put truck in park and turn it off the try and restart it it will not do anything loses all power to ignition as if it was dead no dash lights will come on. i'll then have to unplug the wires to the ecu plug them back in then unit will start and drive but act up again. the mechanic shop already installed a new range sensor in the valve body of the transmission. at rapid repair in katy tx. and did not fix the problem my truck has only 87,000 miles it's even had transfluid replaced and level checked it's something electrical.

Been having problems with the stability control light popping up on the screen when all of a sudden my steering wheel locked up and the steering control light shows up. truck won't steer left or right. thank god i was parked when it failed. being told it's the electronic rack n pinion box. i only have 60,000 mile on the truck. i'm 59 years old and i drive to from work. please help.

I was driveing my ford f-150 & was accelerating & the transmission was in 4th gear & it drop straight down to 1st gear throwing me & my passengers forward. i pulled off the road as quick as i could to shut the motor off , the engines rpms was really high until i could shut the engine down. my truck was just reprogram for this in september 2016 .because ford recalled them for this very reason.

I was stopped on a single lane street at a stop sign, waiting to enter a two lane road with shoulders. i was going to turn left onto the highway. all traffic from the left had passed. there was still one vehicle coming from the right, but it was still far enough away that i had plenty of time to pull out and accelerate. i took my foot off the brake and i began to give the truck gas to pull out. i only traveled several feet when the truck died. it just stopped running, as if i had shut the key off while moving. no sounds of any kind or any warning. it just died. i was facing across the road in the middle of the first lane heading straight towards the other side. i think the road was slightly slopped because i had just enough momentum to get across as i was fighting to turn the truck onto the shoulder. if i wasn't able to turn the truck i would of ended up in a small gully on the other side. luckily the driver of the approaching car from my right was alert, and had enough time to go behind me. this could of ended badly. i had the truck towed to my dealer. they stated the problem was with a fuse (#27) for the pump relay, and that there was a tsb.

When using the left turn signal it will not work only in the back tail light. so when i use my left turn signal it sounds inside my truck a little bit faster than the right side so it knows the blinker is out although the blinker on my left side mirror still works and the front left blinker still works i have tryed numberous times to change the tail light and have others look at it and change the tail light with brand new bulbs but nothings works.

While driving my 2011 f150 supercrew cab on a 30 degree evening, i turned on the rear defroster. within a few minutes, a passenger in the back seat heard a crackling sound and then a loud pop, the passenger side of the 3 section rear window had shattered, within a few hours the glass from this window had started to fall out and enter into the cab, and onto the seats. this happened on 12/30/2016 at approximately 6pm, speed was about 35 mph and no other traffic was on the road. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that a circuit spark caused the glass from the rear window to shatter. the dealer diagnosed that there was a circuit malfunction and could not repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,000.

My 2011 f150 fx4 has been acting up with the transmission. this has happened multiple times and the dealer is unable to replicate it. so far they have changed all of th coil packs, reset the transmission, changed all the spark plugs in a hope that was the issue. well it's not. the truck lunges forward with loud bangs and grinding noises. rpm's go up and down and the truck sounds as if i downshifted from 6th gear to first. then i can only go 40 miles an hour with high rpms. engine lights have lit up and now a wrench. this is crazy my gauges don't work this is dangerous.

Rear window shattered when rear defrost was running. defrost had been running for 10 minutes. very loud pop while i was driving on the interstate. *tr

Wiring harness was shorted out from rubbing on top of differential housing causing alternator failure while underway in warren pa. stopped dead shortly after at traffic light.

Rear defroster did not work for a few weeks. i tried it again this am and it turned on. 5 minutes later i heard an explosion and my rear window on the passengers side shattered. this is a big problem as my infant sits in the back facing this window. please address this asap!!! ford should be liable....

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving 65 mph, the speedometer needle began to swing and provided various incorrect readings. the vehicle came to a sudden halt and the rear of the vehicle veered. in addition, while starting from a stop, the vehicle jerked violently. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 54,000.

Rear glass window on 2011 f150 with power slider- driver side back quarter glass shattered, while driving. rear defroster was on. i have researched this issue and have seen many complaints reported online. i am glad my children weren't in the back seat at the time this happened and it stayed in the frame and did not blow out/into the rear vehicle passenger area

Rear sliding glass window defroster stopped working around 90000 miles, ford dealer says i have to purchase a new rear glass. transmission downshifts feeling as if someone ran into the rear of the vehicle. traveling on i-10 at approximately 80 miles an hour went to pass a slower moving vehicle, when i accelerated to pass the transmission down shifted into 3 gear almost causing me to lose control. transmission has a problem (no notice from ford) talked to several owners having similar transmission problems.

When pressing rear window defroster button light no longer comes on. ensure rear window was completely closed, issue not resolved. problem first noted back in february during snow storm where light would come on several minutes after first turned on. now light and defroster does not work at all. seems to be a common issue among all the newer (2010 and up) f150.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving approximately 3 mph, the fuel gauge switched from full to empty and the odometer failed to provide the accurate reading. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the fuel pump sensor was replaced. the odometer was not repaired and the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 82,000.

Truck will downshift at random

The rear window defrost isn't properly work and i've read multiple reviews of this issue with some windows even exploding. this truck is a family vehicle and the rear window exploding on my daughters is a huge concern.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to reverse from the gear shifter several times, the instrument panel failed to illuminate for the gear in reverse, there was no illumination on the gear shifter, and the gear was difficult to change in reverse. prior to the failure, the instrument panel lights illuminated for the gear shifter when changing gears. the failure continued to randomly progress. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 51,250.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that the instrument panel seized without warning. the failure was persistent. the engine stalled while the failure was occurring. the vehicle was able to restart. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000. the vin was not available.

In 2016 i went to get recall repaired from franklin tn dealership i purchased the truck from, they refused, in 2019, they claim that the software was not available from ford, online in emails to another dealer, i have not been told when to bring truck in to get all recalls repaired. both dealerships are in tn. when in first gear, the truck will jerk back down and won't allow me to go to 2nd gear without pressing hard on gas, loud fan noise from the hood, breaks go to the floor and i have to pump to feel truck slowing down, air and heat continue to not work, air won't get cool and heat won't get hot, both dealerships have refused to repair or blamed ford for not giving them what they needed to fix the recalls. i am documenting so my family will be able to give this to attorney. the down shift happens when the truck is in drive moving on any and every street, parking lot, stop light/sign. the loud fan noise from the engine only happens when the truck is started, the brakes have been going to the floor for 8 years at different times of the day/night when driving.

I turned on the rear defroster. the car had been running for approximately 5 minutes traveling on highways 55-65 mph. sounded like a gun shot inside the car and my rear windshield on passenger side was completely shattered. the rear defroster is not working. i believe the rear defroster got so hot that it shattered the glass.

2011 ford f150 lariat - when accelerating to pass, engine lights will flash and the truck will lose power. after several seconds of flashing, the engine light stays on and the truck decelerates. i shut the truck off and then re-started but the engine light stayed on. i was traveling on a highway and had to pull off to a city street. very dangerous situation.

Electric steering caused vehicle to dart and most difficult to drive safely it tends to stick and is a little hard to control when correcting the problem. this happens most all of the time. this truck is unsafe to drive over 25 mph.

My left panel of the rear window is shattered after turning the rear defrost on. called ford, they will not replace.

Left turn signal and brake light not working

I own a 2011 ford f150. driving home from work last week in the dark i just got onto the highway and i heard what sounded like something hit the bottom of the truck or a gun was shot. didn't know what happened, i then noticed the rear defroster light was not on i went to turn it on and it did not go on that is when i looked at my back window and noticed it was shattered on the passengers side. when i got home i went on the internet and saw that this was happening a lot so i contacted ford about the window and they said that they checked there resources and verified that my vehicle is not involved in any recalls or customer satisfaction programs at this time and it must be inspected by a ford dealership to determine the cause of any symptoms my vehicle may be experiencing. went to ford dealer they said that i should just go to a glass specialist to have it fixed. so i took it to a glass specialist and they said they have replaced at least 14 rear windows on ford trucks because of this problem in the past couple months, i should call ford and complain and hang on to my receipt.

Rear defroster quit working for awhile. turned on the truck today. it was about 26f outside. i tried to turn on my rear defroster button again. it did not turn on. i was driving down the road about 35-40 mph. heard a loud bang, noticed my drivers side rear sliding window is now shattered. called the ford dealership they had no idea of this happending. called ford customer care, they had no idea of this either. it seems like everyone else on the internet knows of this issue except ford and their dealers.

Takata recall i have a 2011 f-150 fx4. noticed the rear defrost wasn't coming on all the time, but it did come on and it must of gotten to hot...driving to work 11/24/15 getting on the freeway i heard a loud noise like something hit my truck on the roof. when i got to work...i looked on the roof...no damage. i noticed later that day that the back passenger side window had shattered...it must of gotten to hot from the defroster. looking on the internet...there are very many complaints about this problem.

Truck has loss of power when pulling out to pass at highway speeds nearly causing head on crashes.

I have a 2011 ford f-150 4x2 platinum 4 door pick, equipped with a 5.0 litre v-8engine, which had 51881 miles when my problem occurred. we were in cameron, arizona, on our way to the east rim of the grand canyon. turned off the truck, used their facilities, went back to truck, it cranked, but would not start, even after repeated attempts. let set for one hour, still would not start. called tow truck, which had to come from flagstaff. dropped off at ford dealer, as it is still under warranty. went to the dealership the following morning, explained the problem, they told me that they had along list of vehicles to work on. i then tried to start the vehicle, it did start, picked my wife and belongings from the hotel, and drove, non-stop to el centro (350 miles). took to dealer. it started again for them. go figure! later that afternoon, it would not start for them. they then called ford motor company, who told them what to look for, tsb 15-0137. they told me that this was a temporary repair, and that they would order a new fuse block, as fuse number 27 had melted the connections in the box, thus making it impossible to have a proper connection. the general manager told me about a personal friend of his who had this happen to his almost new truck, and he got rid of the truck. i cannot afford to do that. it has been since november 9, 2015 when this occurred, and now the agency, el centro motors 1520 ford drive el centro, ca. 92243 (760) 336-2100 is telling me that repair tsb 15-0137 is a permanent repair, and that ford motor company will not replace the fuse block and has no improvement fuse block available, and that the fuse blocks are not available, as there is a 120 day waiting period to obtain them.

During a frost recently i found that the rear window defroster of my truck is not working. it worked all last year but this is the first time use for this year.

Vehicle parked overnight on city street. started vehicle in ~45 degree weather and activated rear defrost. over-current through defrost caused windshield to shatter. small amounts of smoke were produced, vehicle was turned off.
