On now 4 occasions, i have had an accelerator stuck in wide open condition. on 3 of them, it involved passing at highway speeds, and on the latest (10/22/16), it happened on a hard acceleration in city conditions while accelerating from slow to faster speed. in each event, pressing on the brake did hold back speed, but full acceleration resumed if brake was released at all. very lucky to have avoided accident / death!

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 ford f-150. the contact stated that he heard an abnormal noise from the vehicle and noticed that the exhaust manifold was cracked and was leaking. the contact was an independent mechanic and diagnosed that the manifold needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 77,000. updated 02/04/16*lj updated 02/29/16.*jb

I have taken my truck to ford and it happens when i,m pulling in to park or backing up in a space to park, the trucks engine starts to shake and than stall, when ford put the thing to attach under your steering wheel it did not show on the screen, i had a private mech. do the same thing and he could not find it either. i do think this is a safety problem because my truck has also gone dead in the road waiting for the light to change and stall...now it is happening a lot , i talk to the ford dealer a states that it is now out of warranty . the problem started even when the warranty was still good on the truck. *tr

While driving 60 mph, i left off the accelerator to slow down to 45 mph the posted speed limit ahead. at 45 mph, i slightly touched the accelerator to maintain the 45 mph speed limit, the rpm's went over 4000 and would not stop. i applied the brake, but the engine kept the rpm's between 4000 and 4200. i stomped on the brake with both feet and the un-intended acceleration stayed at the higher rpm. i could hear the anti-lock brakes engage to help slow the truck down, but the engine labored over 4000 rpm. i was concerned with not being able to stop the truck, so i shifted the transmission into neutral and coasted to the berm of the road with the engine staying at a very high rpm. once i came to a complete stop, i shifted the truck into park and the rpm's were over 6000. i immediately shut off the engine and waited a few seconds before trying to re-start the truck. i checked the condition of the floor mat asap to verify it was not on top of the accelerator. this happened to my wife less than a year ago and nothing was found at the ford dealership and the ogc reviews suggested that the floor mat may have caused the first un-intended acceleration. as i turned the key, the engine would not start and it made a clicking noise. i got out of the truck and opened the hood to check the motor. i could not see anything, so i went back into the cab and started the truck. it started, but would not idle, the rpm's went to over 6000 and stayed constant. i shut the truck off again and waited a few seconds and on the third attempt, i shut the truck back off, because the rpm's would not idle and went to 6000 and stayed there. i adjusted the power adjustable foot pedals and waited a few seconds and the truck started and idled at normal rpm's. i left the truck at the dealership on 7/31/13 for an inspection....updated 09-26-13 *bf

I experienced unintended acceleration while backing up. i had just started the engine and placed it in reverse and then tapped the accelerator lightly to start moving. the vehicle then started to accelerate rapidly backwards. luckily my foot was off the accelerator for i was in a school parking lot and on a slight incline so i was riding the brake lightly. i had my right foot fully on the brake pedal and could barely keep it slowed. i placed the engine in neutral and the tach showed a steady 4000 rpm, again my foot was still off the accelerator. i then turned off the engine and restarted and all seem normal. i took it to the dealer and they could not duplicate or show any computer code errors.

Vehicle has stalled/shut down on three separate occasions during operation. the first two times the vehicle shut off while stopping at a traffic light. during the latest occurrence the vehicle shut off while navigating a left turn through an intersection. the stall resulted in a power steering and brakes failure. i was able to stop the vehicle without incident because there was no traffic. the latest incident occurred on 05/23/2011. the vehicle has been taken to the local ford service department but they cannot recreated the problem and therefore have no solution. i have also notified ford customer service of the problem. there have been six other quality issues with this vehicle. ford customer service instructed me to continue driving the vehicle and report the incident to the service department when it happens again. hopefully the next time it happens it will not result in a crash. *tr

The check engine light started going on and off periodically. after three visits to the dealer they determined that there are no mechanical problems. they researched and determined there is a computer program problem with the main computer that causes the light to go on. they told me that i would have to pay to get an update to the computer program that would correct this problem. it cost me three visits and a $85 bill to find out the problem is with their computer program. they know there is a problem with their program and they want the vehicle owner to pay over $200 to fix it. how do they figure that is the owner's fault? *tr

From a moving left turn, the engine cut out/shutoff. no sputter, no warning signals. this is the only occurrence at this time. dealership contacted. *tr

I was involved in a low speed frontal collision with my 2009 ford f150 pick up. the collision was off center left with another ford f150 (1993-1994 model). the speed of the vehicles was less than 40 mph as the collision happened on a hilly and twisting road. my vehicle caught fire on impact and was completely engulfed in just over a minute. my drivers door would not open and i had to exit the vehicle on the passenger side. my wife and i were not injured as the air bags and seat belts worked properly. we never made contact with the air bags and sustained no seat belt bruising or other injuries. *tr
