I was driving my 06 ford truck 4.6 engine on freeway motor failed, loud noise coming from motor and loose of power. i was nearly involved in major collision trying to get truck off the freeway. i had a mech. look at truck he told me that it blew a spark plug, took truck to dealer i purchased from new. these plugs have never been replaced or worked on, factory plugs. the truck has 36,000 mile warr. and i have 42,000 miles on truck. ford will not own up to full payment on this repair. there is repair bill for 3000.00 and i know now this is a ford defect from internet research. i need some help, my truck is still in shop i do not have money to make this repair. someone please contact me, i need help from ford and from the dealership were truck is still at, can not be driven and i have no transportation. *tr

2006 supercrew 4x4 f150 that began missing and shaking badly along with rich smell of gasoline this morning. was taken into shop where it later hydrolocked and was now unable to start. assessment by ford technician found the engine to have a faulty injector on cylinder 6 that was stuck in the open position allowing fuel to dump directly into cylinder until full and the piston was unable to move anymore apparently resulting in some bent rods according to technician. was advised that engine was blown and needed $9500 for replacement engine since vehicle was just out of warranty at 56,000 miles. found out that many of the 2005 models of this vehicle had recalls on the same injectors making this type of repair covered, but my vin does not show this recall since it a 2006 model. this bothers me because my truck was actually shown to be manufactured in sept 2005 and possibly had the same batch of faulty injectors installed in it. *tr

Upon starting of the vehicle there was a loud pop followed by smoke entering the cab through vents and then complete loss of brakes, dealer said it was a problem with the intake manifold. *tr

Spark plug broke inside of engine while replacing. after further investigation i found that this is a well known problem that ford has refused to recall even though they have changed mechanical procedures for replacing plugs at the dealership. i am now stuck with a big bill because faulty manufacturing. *tr

Emissions light displays: 2006 f150 looses power, will not accelerate, stalls while driving in traffic (creating a traffic hazard), pops (backfires) while trying to accelerate. have to totally stop truck, turn off ignition, wait a few minutes, restart and proceed. sometimes have to repeat this several times while driving to destination. had truck hooked to diagnostic computer, mechanic said there "was" a problem, but it cleared itself....charged me for computer use. he said to come back in when truck was "misbehaving" again. it does it sporadically, explained this to mechanic. emissions light comes on and goes out sporadically as well. *tr

Random stalling, looses power and completely shuts down everything. 2006 ford f150. *tr

I own a 2006 ford f-150 supercrew 4x4. it has about 90,000 miles on it. my motor has knocked since purchasing the vehicle. i have taken it to the dealership several times to try and correct the problem. it has a 5.4 l engine in it. i have had the plugs replaced which cost me 800 dollars due to the mechanics breaking two plugs and i had to pay them to fix the problem. my issue, is there a problem with the motor knocking/tapping when idling. if so how can it be fixed. the dealership is not help. *tr

While on interstate entrance ramp, 3 second delay in engine response and nearly rear ended by a semi tractor trailer. months earlier, ford dealership upgraded pcm to latest software due to hesitation in throttling (ford was aware). engine hard to start at times and it hesitated worst at hard throttle, while attempting to pass or enter highway speeds. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 ford f-150. while driving approximately 60 mph, the contact's foot became stuck to the accelerator pedal when he attempted to apply the brake. the vehicle fails to brake properly unless the pedal is touching the floor. the dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure. when turning the steering wheel, the contact hears a squealing noise and it becomes difficult to maneuver. the dealer replaced the power steering pump, but the squealing noise is still audible. the current mileage is 37,000 and failure mileage was 9,346. the consumer stated the brake and gas pedal were designed too close together. the consumer has mistakenly hit the gas pedal when trying to brake. the master cylinder had an internal leak. the muffler had a leak. updated 06/06/07. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 ford f-150. the engine light illuminated and the vehicle began to vibrate while in traffic. the vehicle was towed to dealer, american ford. the dealer replaced the # 6 fuel injector. at 9,670 miles, the same failure recurred, and the dealer replaced the # 5 fuel injector. at 9,735 miles, the engine light illuminated again. the dealer stated that the catalytic converter failed because of the fuel. the current mileage is 10,765, and failure mileage was 7,462.*ak

A few days later the engine light came on again and this time it was the catalytic converter, which had to be replaced. when they said the other catalytic converter needed to be replaced. had this truck in the shop 6 times for engine light. *tr

Vehicles misfiring and stubbling during moderate accelerations and cruising when a load is put on motor. ( going up a hill, slight incline and passing). *tr

Two separate occasions i experienced a fuel injector failure on my '06 f-150 while traveling on i-65 on 10-10-06 and on i-10 on 10-14-06. i was told by a dealer in culman alabama that i could drive it on to memphis with the engine light on. upon arrival in memphis dobbs ford told me there was nothing wrong and i had to take his word. on my trip back to tampa the engine light came on again and i had to towed to american ford in tallahassee. the replaced #6 fuel injector. later, while in memphis #5 injector failed and was replaced at landers ford in collierville. a few days later the engine light came on again and this time it was the catalytic converter, which had to be replaced. *jb

After one week of ownership, on 9/2/06 the truck dieseled when started for about 5 minutes before idling. it could not be turned off. when it finally idled, the check engine light was lit, it idled rough, knocked when accelerating or under a load and the gas mileage dropped as i was driving about 2 miles per gallon. from this point on, it was hard to start. this happened with 1000 miles on the truck. it was taken for service and the dealer told us that the catalytic converter and oxygen sensor was defective? this seems to be the result of this problem and not the problem as upstream fuel/air mixture problems cause leaning/riching which will manifest itself as cat or oxy sensor defects. these parts were replaced and 1 week later the check engine light has re appeared. *nm

Truck ran rough with have smoke from exhaust. took truck in at 41,000 to fix a bad coil assembly, then at 99,000 to fix a bad coil assembly, injector and o2 sensor. at 111,000 miles two more injectors went bad causing two rods to be bent along with another bad o2 sensor. same problem as the 2005 ford that had a recall, but not the 2006. total estimate to fix truck $7500 plus tax! ford knows about problem but wont recall. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling at various speeds, or while at a stop the vehicle stalls. the vehicle restarts each time. the dealership is unable to determine the problem, no codes are stored in the computer.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 ford f-150. while driving 40 mph, the contact heard a rattling noise underneath the vehicle. the dealer stated that the a/c compressor was separating. the dealer made the replacement, however, the noise continued. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but they were unable to determine the cause of failure. in addition, the vehicle failed to start. as of september 24, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. the failure mileage was 495 and current mileage was 23,900.

When we purchased our new ford truck it was making a rattling noise in the engine and we were informed that it was no major problem. come to find out the engine needed to be replaced so the dealership keep the new truck and put in a new engine. when they delivered the truck a few weeks later it was making the same noise. so we had it taken back to the dealership and they had to get another engine to put in the truck because the second engine was not any good either. we bought the truck in march and did not even get to drive it until the end of april. it was in the shop for over 30 days and it had around 8 to 9 hundred miles put on it by the dealership. *nm

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 25 mph the engine stalled without warning. the dealership inspected the vehicle and was unable to duplicate the problem. the manufacturer was alerted however no repairs were made.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle has several problems. while driving at no specific speed, the front end vibrated and rattled. the vehicle was taken to the local dealership for inspection. however, the problem could not be duplicated. the second problem occurred while entering a curve at 55mph, the right rear tire blew. the tire was not inspected for the cause of the failure although, the tire was replaced. the third problem is the cooling system bolts were loose. the vehicle was taken to the dealership for routine inspection and maintenance when the looseness of the bolts was discovered. the dealership tightened the bolts for repair.
