I own a 2001 ford f150 lariet truck, which i bought new, and have only apx. 75000 miles on it. i wash it regularly and even spray up under truck to remove salts every time i wash it. luckily, or better, blessedly, while poisoning my truck in my car-port the cable holding the spare tire(full size..about 100 pounds) snapped and the tire, tire bracket, and cable (crimped) knuckle fell onto the car port. this cable sheared exactly at the knuckle and it did so with-out any provocation. by the grace of god, it did not stop while i was doing 70 miles an hour going down the highway. if it had i'm sure there would have been so much destruction to the rear of my truck that i would not be able to write this. let me go on to say, i really like this truck, it is very solid, very reliable, and one of the best rides i've ever owned in my 53 years of life. i am either extremely lucky or blessed that this happened in my drive. in fact, only 5 days before, my wife, son and i had returned from a trip to west virginia. this was a trip of 700 miles and we had taken her tahoe because it has 4 wheel drive and my ford does not!!! *tr

On 11/1/08 i was driving and heard loud pop from my engine. upon further investigation i saw that the spark plug in the seventh cylinder of my 2002 f150 5.4 triton had blown out of the head and broke the coil. this was preceded by a ticking noise that almost sounded like a exhaust manifold leak. i personally changed my plugs at 100,000 miles and the truck currently has about 125,000 miles on it. while on the internet researching the problem i realized that i'm not alone and this is a nation wide problem with the f150. at this point my truck is sitting in the driveway because the dealership is charging at least $2000 dollars to replace the head. i am researching a cost effective alternative to replacing the parts at this time. *tr

Our 2002 f-150, caught on fire underneath the hood saturday 5/10/08 evening after being parked for 45 minutes at out home. we believe it had to do with the ford recalls out on the speed control switch. it started where the brake fluid is located and burned to the master cylinder. *tr

2002 ford f150 lightning, three blown spark plugs. two were repaired under warranty, one out of my pocket. ford did not acknowledge any problems with the triton cylinder head and did nothing about it. ford left me stranded three times, twice on the freeway. thanks ford. *nm

The oil pressure gauge erratic at times, ok on start ups. but while in use it would drop to zero and the oil light would come on. if you shut vehicle off and restart oil gauge would go back to ok. until you start driving. *jb

I have had 5 ford vehicles that one of the spark plugs has blown through the head of each vehicle. 1 f-150,2 f-250, 2 expeditions, no warning in advance it just makes a loud bang and your disabled. $ 3,800 to fix each one. i really need to know if anything can be done because i have 6 more vehicles that this could happen to. please respond.

Spark plug blown out/striped out of cylnider head

I purchased 4 new goodyear fortera tires 8/2004 and had freeway blow outs on 3 of the 4 tires with less than 15,000 miles on each tire. blow outs occured 2 in may and 1 in june. i replaced the first 2 again with fortera tires, but after blow #3 i requested that goodyear prorate all tires so i could replace with another brand but they refused. given this experience i believe these tires are defective and should be tested and possibly recalled. the dealer could not detect why the tires failed due to damage from freeway blow outs and having to drive off of the freeway before stopping.

I purchased my 2002 ford f150 super crew in august of 2002. i have had ongoing problems since i purchased the vehicle, and have had no responses or assistance from any ford dealerships. the problems started out with my radio going on and off all on its own. i took my vehicle to the dealership at least 10 times alone for this problem. never any assistance. the problems escalated around 40,000 miles and my whole electrical system seemed to be shorting out. i have had fire under the dash, the headlights not work, the wipers would only work when the vehicle was in park, same thing with the heater, it would not turn off after you shut the vehicle off. now this week i had another fire which i was able to put out on my own. i took it to a different dealer and they identified the problem with the gem module and central junction box. apparently the vehicle was not put together correctly and these modules keep shorting out causing my vehicles problems. i have to wonder everyday whether or not my vehicle is going to catch fire and burn up. on a daily basis i can smell smoke coming from under the dash almost like burning plastic or wiring. none of the problems have been addressed and seem to be escalating. to me this is a safety issue. i would hate to think that i would be traveling with my family and the car catch fire while we are driving. the electrical system needs to be investigated and repaired. none of which has been done by the dealer i purchased the vehicle from. i even filed a complaint with the ford motor company and received no real concern.*ak

Vehicle has a gap on driver's side door over the top. the gap causes noise inside the cabin of the vehicle while driving. it makes it hard to keep the vehicle on the road. manufacturer was contacted with no results.*ak the dealer installed a rubber sealer around the gap but this seemed to cause more noise. the radio, cd player and tv in the rear of the van stopped working. the rotors warped and caused vibrations when braking. water had gotten into the left side park lamp. the seat belt warning chime and light failed intermittently, the dealer replaced the module. *nm
