The rear portion of the frame is rotten to the point that the let springs hangers are ready to break off the frame and the spare tire holder is also ready to fall off. i just replaced the rear spring shackles due to the were also rotten and broke. the gas tank straps were also a problem due to rust but ford though enough of the problem there was a recall on that, toyota had a problem with rusted frames and did a massive recall on that issue. why hasn't ford done the same thing? the frame should be the last thing one needs to worry about with any vehicle. the truck currently has 146000 miles and now we need to figure out what the next move will be with this vehicle. repair it, junk it or trade it ????? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 ford f-150. the contact was driving 35 mph when the fuel tank detached from the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed the failure. the manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 202,000. updated 05/02/12*bf the consumer stated the gas tank detached from the vehicle due to the straps securing the tank to the body broke due to rust. when the gas tank detached, it fell on top of the vehicle's skid plate which saved it from hitting the ground. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where they replaced the straps. however, they did not remove and inspect the tank. they removed the skid plate while holding the tank in place and then replaced the straps. the repair was completed. however, when the consumer put the fuel in the vehicle, fuel started leaking immediately. the consumer was informed by ford, the recall did not cover holes in tanks caused by defective straps unless the tank fell completely out of the truck and hit the ground. the consumer replaced the gas tank at his expense. ...

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 ford f150. the contact was driving 35 mph when the ignition caught on fire and melted the area where the ignition key was located. the contact merged onto the shoulder as the fire independently diminished. the contact received burns to the fingers. he then attempted to reinsert the key into the ignition however, to no avail. the vehicle was pushed to the contact's residence and later towed to the dealer. the dealer informed the contact that the ignition would need replacing. the contact also received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 11v385000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: mounting) for corrosion of one or both of the fuel straps. the contact stated that the dealer would not repair the vehicle under the recall but was not advised as to why. the manufacturer was notified who offered no assistance and could not provide a reason why the dealer would not repair the vehicle under the recall. the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 101,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 11v385000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: mounting) on november 23, 2011. the fuel tank had been leaking fuel ever since the repair. the contact stated that the leak was caused by the straps being taken off and replaced. the contact felt that the manufacturer should be obligated to repair the fuel take in addition to repairing the fuel tank straps. the failure mileage and current mileages were 130,556.

Driving with two kids in truck hear bumping sound pull over strap broken and gas coming out of tank get home call seabreeze ford hes aware of problem get it their said gas tank strap rusted to the fuel tank so when strap broke it ripped a hole in fuel tank he also said could not have done a replacement on strap because it already bonded to tank rusted together ford will only pay for straps at this time service man even the said faulty straps breaking ripped the hole in the tank lucky no fire how can they not accept a caused b bad straps caused ripped hole in gas tank. *tr

2002 ford f-150. consumer writes in regards to recall and repairs *tgw the consumer stated he made an appointment as suggested by the recall letter two weeks ago and as of october 7, 2011 the dealer informed him the parts were still not available. the consumer also stated the instrument cluster did not work, which made it difficult to see the mileage on the vehicle. the consumer was informed the only way to fix the problem was to replace the entire module as the dash must be taken apart. *jb the consumer stated he took the vehicle to the dealer after waiting several months for the parts and was informed they could not replace the gas tank, because it was leaking and it was not covered under the recall. the leak was due to the faulty straps where the metal was rubbing on metal. updated 12/20/11

I received a recall on my ford f-150 pickup, replace fuel tank straps. i called and made a appointment. when i got to the dealership, they took my truck to the service department. they informed me , they didn't have the parts to repair it. it was unsafe to drive, but wanted me to sign a waver, which would hold me accountable, if the straps broke , and caused an accident.they wanted me to drive the truck home!! i had to leave the truck at the dealership. i wasn't going to drive a dangerous truck home? this is friday, they won't have the parts until tuesday to fix it. what a pain!!! they wouldn't even give me a rental to drive, they had to drive me home!! *tr
