I own a 2001 f150 super cab 44 the ford motor company has already admitted that the problem was their fault something about for some reason they left metal shavings between the head of the motor and the block of the motor causing it to leak oil really really bad onto the starter and the exhaust manifold and it just pours oil as fast as you can pour it in which is a high probability of the exhaust manifold to ignite the oil and burst into flames why they haven't already done a recall is beyond me they made a upgraded head gasket that they will sell you and you can fix their mistake on your own nickel but i don't have over 3000 dollars to pull the engine and fix the problem its a 5.4 engine and every one i have seen around the same year model has the exact same oil leak that could be very dangerous not to mention it has already messed up the integrity of my engine

Soft aluminum heads allowing sparkplug threads to wallow out and shoot them out head like a rifle and breaking coil mount and since fuel still being squirted in it is ejected into a hot engine manifold that could ignite the fuel air mixture and cause a fire. happened while driving on city street. ford is addle if they think they can pass it on to the consumer unscathed!

Ejected or blown spark plug was driving down the road and herd a loud pop and then the truck started driving really rough. got it to the shop and they confirmed after i gave an explanation of what i heard and experienced.

My vehicle was in motion in a straight line with a s speed of 30 mph when i heard a loud pop sound and loss of power, although the engine was still running but extremely rough. i turned into a lot within the next 75 yards and parked, turned the vehicle off. i opened the hood to find a ignition coil and an intact spark plug from cylinder #3 sitting on top of the valve cover.

I had been at my neighbors house for over 1 1/2 hours. we heard a loud boom that shook the trailer we ran outside and discovered the drivers side tire blew out due to the fire. the entire hood was melting down onto the motor . there was no electrical components left under the hood by this time and the fire was spreading to the cab , but we finally put it out then the fire department came . i called my insurance co , they are investigating the cause of the fire . please let me know if any of this pertains to my case . thank you *tr

All i know is i was at a neighbors for around 1 1/2 hours and we hear a loud boom. we ran out side and my truck hood was on fire, it burned everything visible on top of the motor and toward the driver firewall . it busted the driver side tire and completely burned everything visible under the hood. the dash components as far as the eye can see are not bad, unknown of internal damage.i'm not sure what caused the problem. i did go to the recall site to see if there may have been something i did find this control switch for speed recall and not sure if it applies to mine.even though it brought it up when i entered my vin #. i did receive a recall on the gas tank straps but did not replace them they were in great shape. but i did not receive on on this. i do have pictures if you need them. thanks

We have a ford f150 crew cab with a 5.4 triton motor. i was putting it in reverse to drive away and there was a strange popping sound. i instantly shut it off and opened the hood. my father examined it for me and stated the number 3 spark plug had ejected itself, cracking the coil as well. we had to have a helicoil kit installed in order to have threads for the new plug. the truck still is not running properly. this has cost approximately $300 so far, and there is more work that will have to be done since it still sputters and runs rough. this is a well known problem by the ford dealership, as i have researched it on the internet but ford refuses to take responsibility for the poorly manufactured triton motor. fires can start when they pop out as well. this is a dis-service to the public who have unknowingly bought these vehicles and get stuck with huge repairs due to the design of the motor. i am disgusted that there is not a recall. ford must be held responsible for all these repairs! there is a huge injustice happening by allowing ford to walk away from the responsibility. a recall before deaths happen would be the responsible thing to do! lemon laws should apply to the triton motors by ford! if i had known this was happening we would never ever have purchased this vehicle! shame on the ford company!!! get the recall set into motion to compensate all the people who bought these dangerous pieces of crap! *tr

There is a problem with ford f-150's blowing spark plugs. i have blown 2 so far and read on numerous websites of many many people having this same issue. both times i have pulled over and disconnected the ignition coil. if i would not know how to do this the blown plug could result in an engine fire. this is a serious problem that ford needs to fix! *tr

The gas peddle stuck on the for f150, i see complaint and a recall about the escape, but what about the fords? on the intranet are several complaints about the same issue with the ford trucks. we had a major accident and out truck was destroyed due to this. *tr

The truck was parked in my driveway for at least 24 hours without being used or turned on. the front of the truck suddenly went on fire. the fire department came and put it out. the fire burned only the front up to the windshield leaving the cab partially melted and my daughters car seat unsafe. now this mess sits in my driveway as i wait for inspector. as it falls apart more and more each day as my family and neighbors smell the burnt rubble and are reminded of that frightening afternoon. *tr

I parked, walked inside...moments later the truck was on fire.. *tr

Woke up this morning to a couple of loud "booms". my husband went to check it out and discovered his truck (which we just purchased in may) was on fire. the fire destroyed the truck, melted the siding on our house and garage, and even cracked three of our neighbor's windows. we are so grateful the firefighters arrived when they did or this fire would've kept burning our house. the truck hadn't moved since last night...don't know what happened but we will not be purchasing a ford again. *js

Turned into a grocery store parking lot and truck started to smoke. i thought it was over heating but when i parked i got out and the truck started having black smoke then flames came from the driver side of the hood over the tire. i called 911. when the fire trucks arrived the hood was in flames and the front of the truck was burned. i am the original owner of the truck and have took very good care of it. someone that works with my son had an f150 that burned 6 months ago. after we looked up the information about this i found out this has happened alot. i also found a recall on a part for the cruise control but i was never informed of this. how are people informed of recalls? i lived a the same address for 7 years and had the same phone number. the dealer i bought the truck from palmetto ford in charleston sc has been around for a long time. i don't understand why i was not informed. if i had not got out i would have burned with the truck. is it the owner responsibility to check for recalls. i would understand if i was not the original owner but i am. *tr

I keep having major issues with my truck ejecting spark plugs from the engine which is breaking not only my spark plugs but my coil pack as well. this is rediculious. the first time i was at a light at a dead stop when i hear a loud banging noise like something exploded then my truck started running rough and had to get it towed. it stranded us 45 minutes from home. the second time was two days ago on march 18 i was driving through a drive thru again at a dead stop and heard a loud noise and had the same issue. again my spark plug was ejected and coil pack broken. the first time was in cylinder 1 and was repaired then one month later the next time cylinder 2 ejected. 5 minutes after it was repaired and had new plug and coil pack it again ejected. im upset because i can no longer drive my truck. if ford doesnt fix this i willnever purchase another ford. now it is useless sitting in my garage takin up space. *tr

As i was leaving a stop sign, i accelerated and a spark plug blew out of it's hole and will not go back in. this is a product defect that can cause serious injury or deaths to unknowing ford owners. ford should recall asap. *jb

The truck started on fire while sitting in the driveway hours after being parked. by the time we realized it was on fire, it was totally out of control and the truck well beyond saving. it burned so hot it melted the tires, the siding of the house and destroyed part of a privacy fence. we kept water on the fire until it went out about an hour and a half later. the fire started under the hood and the whole front of the truck is almost unrecognizable. the owner ( [xxx] ) is an auto mechanic and has been for forty plus years. we run an auto repair business. we had heard vague things about fords and fires but did not look into it until after the incident. we purchased the truck this winter and never got any recall notices for the cruise control switch problem. the prior owner says he did not either. we have not yet contacted ford because of reading all the horror stories of how they refuse responsibility. we had liability insurance only. the anger is letting up a bit and the shock has worn off and now we are figuring out the next step. reporting the incident to you seems to be it. i will contact ford on monday. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
