2000 ford f-150. consumer states wheel rims started to rust out in one year *tgw the consumer also stated the bumper rusted out in one year, and the abs light illuminated. the brakes were inspected several times, but no problem was found. the high beams would not come on, the plastic on the outside rearview mirror fell off, the dome light in the cab wouldn't come on, and the tailgate wouldn't close, the windshield wiper washer, wipers and heating system did not work. the power steering pump leaked all the time, the gear shifter wouldn't go into park. the fuel strap failed three years ago and caused the fuel tank to fall to the ground. *jb
2000 ford f-150 has a problem with the turn signal switch failing. i have replaced it once already and the problem occurred again. i have done research via internet and other people have had the same problem. new bulb replacement and fuse replacement does not remedy the problem. the multifunction switch is defective. this could result in an accident or injury. *tr
The abs sensor continues to stay on, the turn signals and overhead console fail intermittently. dealer states they cannot duplicate the problem.*ak
On 2/22/2005 we took our 2000 ford f-150 to community ford in mooresville indiana for recall work to disable the cruise control .when we got our truck back, after the trip home, i realized that i had no turn signal, no brake lights, no emergency flashers, and my head lights worked at times. i called the dealership, they had no clue what was wrong but said to bring it back. after work that evening we returned to the dealership. we waited an hour while they checked everything, couldn't find a problem. suddenly they decided to move the tilt steering wheel and lights went off and on. they kept the vehicle overnight and repaired a broken harness in the steering column. when i asked how this harness got broken, they said it's common in rangers and occasionally in f-150's. i asked for the broken part and they couldn't find it. they charged me $131.13 and said if i had any issues with this to call the customer care center for ford. they were of no help. i called 3 other ford dealerships and asked if they were familiar with the problem. one had never heard of it and suggested i call the manager of community ford. another had heard of it ,but never seen it,and the third had seen it once. i asked the customer care people why there wasn't a recall on this, and they said it wasn't a safety issue, only fires were consider safety issues. i'm sorry i have a major issue with this. if they are producing vehicles that can lose break lights and turn signals while you're driving down the road, this is a safety issue!!!!!i am writing a letter to ford motor company,a nd i will not call the manager of community ford, they've already let me know that they are not willing to help. this needs to go higher. i think they need to reimburse me and fix the problem in both design and the millions of people already on the road!can you help me at all?i will be more than happy to send you copies of my bill.please, save someone before anyone gets hurt out there.thank you in advance, carol c.wyss
When steering wheel is not all the way up the turn signals, hazard lights, and the brake lights do not work. i have taken it to the dealership and they state that there is a clip in the steering column that is broke. this all happened 2 months after i bought the truck and they will not fix it due to there being no warranty. at the same time the keyless entry stopped working as well as the automatic door locks. they stated that this was because the motor in both doors had went out. seems odd to me that they would both go at the same time. *jb
Consumer noticed that while driving turn signals didn't work. dealership was notified, and they indicated y vehicle was without guaranty. *ak in addition to the signal lights not working the hazard, and brake lights did not work. the consumer found that locking the steering wheel in the upper most position restored operation of the signal lights temorarily. one month later total loss of signal lights occured. the consumer removed the steering column schrouds to reveil that both retaining clips on the wiring harnesss plug assembly were broken allowing the plug assembly to move partly in and out of its counterpart each time that the tilt steering wheel was moved up or down. *tc
While driving turn signals failed to stay on. also, brakes lights failed when brake were applied. in addition, windshield wipers turned on and off by themselves. *ak
When the turn signal light flasher failed to function when engaged. the signal indicator light on the dashboard didn't come on. consumer felt that this may be caused by an electrical system failure because the windshield wipers engaged by themselves. dealership will be contacted.*ak
Ford f150 series, late 90's into the 2000's. my vehicle is a 2000 f150 4 door, extended cab, 4.6 triton v8. when the tilt wheel feature is operated, the turn signals and emergency flashers cease to operate, or operate incorrectly. on other f150's i am aware of, with the same problem, the problem eventually results in total lack of function of turn signals and emergency flasher, regardless of position of tilt wheel. some private owners have taken it on themselves to open up the steering column and typically found "green goo" on the switch contacts, and sometimes loose wires, which evidently are the root of the problem. when the "green goo" is cleaned off the contacts, the signalls and flashers operate properly. stories sometimes relate very poor service from ford dealer mechanics in being able to diagnose and repair the problem.
While driving for 15 minutes headlights began flashing for 5 minutes. *ak
The brake light has been illuminating continuously for the last four days. owner will make an appointment with the dealer for diagnosis. *ak
I was traveling in neutral, downhill, at about 40mph through a shallow turn as i was exiting a highway. when i put the truck in 4th gear to accelerate, i had no power. the tachometer was at zero and i tried to turn on the hazard lights and begin braking, both failed to work. i had no lights or any other electrical power (it was daylight) i downshifted and turned to ease off the road, i had no power steering, then the steering wheel locked. i halted the truck with the e brake once i was slow enough and on the edge of the road. i tried to restart it several times but nothing would happen. the truck had zero electrical power. after about 15 minutes it started back up as if nothing was wrong. when i got it to john elway ford in denver co, the mechanics said the computer didn't log any errors and there was nothing they could do. i contacted ford and they refused to do anything. i contacted the bbb and they just reiterated fords policy. the problem has never been fixed since no one can find the reason for it. it has happened one other time to me in 2007 (i think). *tr
Nar 03-25-2003 mr. the t urn signals stopped working. the dealer took the vehicle to the dealer and was told the wiring harness inside the steering column had pulled apart due to a short in the wiring harness. *jb
Consumer states while driving brake lights failed almost causing 2 collisions. consumer contacted dlr who advised unable to get parts for repair.
Turning signal was not working properly. consumer had to push real hard to left or right to make the turning signal to work. contacted dealer. *ak
Consumer states the high mount brake light is inoperative, dealer notified. nlm
Halogen headlights cause other drivers to think high beams are being used, this caused driver to crash, when driver of another vehicle, being driven in opposite direction, became enraged and flashed their high beams just at the right moment, blinding driver's view, possible design flaw causing the other vehicle's drivers problems visually. cj
Turn signals have intermittent failure problem when humidity level is high. brake system locks up when conditions are damp when initialling using truck for the day
