Ford f-150 heater blend door model year 97-04 is defective, causing inoperability of windshield defroster and iced over windshield interior resulting in near total loss of driver visibility during freezing conditions with snow. ford is on notice of this problem. see the information below, from an internet company manufacturing and selling a replacement blend door, along with installation instructions not requiring removal of dash. local dealer (jones west ford, reno, nv.) denies any recall, will not repair. ford consumer complaint department denies any recall, will not repair. see: http://www.heatertreater.net/ford%20f150%2097-04.htm. "this is a kit to do a complete repair on the blend door malfunction that is common to 97-04 f150's. every f150 in this range either has, or will have, this common failure over time." *tr
2000 ford f-150 has a problem with the turn signal switch failing. i have replaced it once already and the problem occurred again. i have done research via internet and other people have had the same problem. new bulb replacement and fuse replacement does not remedy the problem. the multifunction switch is defective. this could result in an accident or injury. *tr
Own 2000 f150 4x4, cruise control switch was replaced on recall a few years ago. last year had to replace the cruise control switch again at my cost because it had already been replaced on recall. how cruise control is bad again and well have to replace again at my cost again. fords fix isn't a good fix. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 ford f-150. the tires felt slightly low and the contact checked the front passenger side tire. she realized that the valve stem was cracked. she took the vehicle to the tire shop and had the valve stem replaced. approximately five weeks later, the tire pressure light illuminated. she checked the tires and realized that the rear passenger side valve stem was now cracked. she took the vehicle back to the shop and had the failure repaired. recently, three weeks later, the tire pressure indicator illuminated again. the contact pulled the vehicle over and noticed that the front driver's side tire had completely failed and the rear driver side tire was cracked. both tires were repaired; however, the contact believes that it was a defect to have all four tire valves fail within a two-month period. the tires and valve stems were unknown. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 14,000.
After stopping truck and sitting for a few minutes. a loud popping noise is heard under the passenger side of the vehicle. mechanic states it is the air conditioner condensation is dripping onto exhaust. *tr

We have fallen victim to ford's compartment fire issue. from everything we have just researched, it appears our f150 caught on fire around 5 am sunday july 30. it had been parked since 10:30 pm. in trying to research this bizaare incident, i discovered their recall which i never received. i have owned the vehicle since 2001. i have not had any prior problems with the vehicle, which is why i found this so bizaare to wake up at 5 am to my wife yelling "your truck is on fire!". luckily, i have never been motivated to clean our garage so we could park inside. however, our home did suffer damage to the siding. ford is not being aggressive in ensuring this is being handled. *jb

When trying to lower the radio using the volume knob, the volume actually went higher until it couldn't get any louder. i was attempting to answer my cell phone, and couldn't hear the person due to the volume of the radio. it simply wouldn't lower. i feel this is a safety concern worth fixing. *ph

Air conditioner system malfunctioned each season after first year of ownership. 8/9/01 o rings replaced, 3/20/02 replaced evap. coil, both under warranty. 4/25/03 compressor, accumulator etc. $730.00 worth of repair with warranty expired. contacted ford rep. and got discount.
The metal cable holding the spare tire up "broke" causing the tire to fall off. had this happened on the highway and not a mall parking lot, considerable damage, if not loss of life could have been the result.
Radio heats up to point that when putting in a cd or tape they could melt. contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing to do anything. *ak
