Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2000 Ford F-150

First i purchased the ford f-150 2000 year model from a car dealership on oct 28, 2019. immediately there was problems keeping it running. they put a new battery in it 2 days later then while reaching 50 mph my tons would drop and the truck would not accelerate i had just put 51 dollars in the tank, then i pushed the gas to the floor my rooms would go all the way to 3 then i would have to let off the gas and it seemed to do a hard switch in gear. as this continued the entire truck shook till i figured ok just pump the gas and let off before the shaking got to bad. now the shaking as gotten worse and the truck seems to not want to accelerate at all or does a hard stall. it is supposed to have a new low range motor with only 100,000 miles on it at least the dealer told me that, i also verbally made an agreement with the dealer that if anything was to go wrong he would fix it, he agreed. now that i have seen my truck has 18 recalls and one that has not been fixed, a duplicate title and had 2 liens i honestly want my money back.im a single mother going to college and i'm all my daughter gots. i told the dealer i needed a reliable vehicle. the vehicle was in motion all times and it does it on the hwy and city streets.

While in neutral there is a whinning noise push clutch in it quietens but its tough switching into gears. it grinds very hard to put shifter in any gear. now it whines all the time. and it grinds even more now going from first to second upon accelerating . when in reverse it stutters really bad ive checked all fluids.

I was just driving and felt a vibration and have spent a lot of money trying to figure the problem out and no one knows why it is vibrating. i have had my tires road forced and check. i have had an alignment. i have had my crankshaft checked. i have had the tires balanced. i saw a bulletin on valves and that seems to be the closest to my situation i have the information on the valves and will be happy to share that with you. i have spent a lot of money at the dealer and independent shops even a transmission shop and no one can figure it out. i would like to have this 1-2 year problem solved. the front end has been replaced and check as well. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated a puddle of oil was noticed under the transmission. the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop who determined the transmission seal ruptured. the seal was replaced. the repair shop would not just replace the seal, they stated would follow the tsb's instructions and replace all the necessary parts. updated 09/25/06. *jb

Transmission went out. vehicle is only driven about 200 miles a week, and sits from monday to friday without being driven at all. it just went out while driving down the road. has not been fixed yet. was not going fast at the time because we had just stopped at a light and when we started driving it had no power. *nm

2000 ford lightning super charger intercooler leaks coolant into the engine. once the coolant is drained, it can cause a condition called vapor lock, which will lock the motor without warning. this would be cause from the super heated air then entering from the super charger. this could cause an accident, and i'm sure is not great for emissions since coolant is now being leaked into the combustion chamber. *jb

Well i got suckered oct 4 2003 into a 2000 f-150 w/52,000 miles . my lovely truck was doing great until sept 2004 and then my tranny went out. just blew out. well $1400 dollars and a lot of (i mean a lot) of money and time later (nov 2004) i got it fixed (happy times right?). dad, me some buddies put the tranny in. so i am doing great and then i started to smell anti freeze and well some time later in aug 2005 it started a steem shop out the exhaust. water, anti freeze and oil that is what is was. looked like head gasket or head might be craked so got new gasket set and got heads tested and reshaped and new head bolts.($400 later) well i finaly got to getting it back together and it is still smoking (today in dec 2005). so something bad is wrong maybe block is craked. i dont know but i am very mad i owe $12,000 on it.

Electrical problems. most significantly the truck shut off while i was driving down a road at about 50mph. zero electrical and the power stearing was out and i had to muscle the truck to the side of the road, my wife would not have been able to do this.i waited about 15 minutes and it started. had i been in a turn i may not have been able to turn the truck fast enough and hit oncomming cars. i took it in to john elway ford dealership and they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it and said they could do nothing. they said there was no error code logged in the computer so nothing was done. today, aug 13, 2004 the truck started but the odometer was not lit but then lit when i backed out of my parking space. my wife later took the truck to the store then to a playground where it failed to start again. this is the third occurance of this and the ford dealership said they could not find anything wrong. when i called ford they agreed that they could not do anything if they could not recreate the problem. i also have an occasional grinding from 2nd to 3rd gear that i have taken it in for several times only to be told sorry we cant recreate the problem. my main concern is losing electrical power while driving. if this happens to my pregnante wife i am very concerned that she could get into a bad accident.*ak

Our truck jumps into 4 wheel drive by it self. *nm

2000 ford f-150 transmission gone at only 35,500 miles. power ford diagnosed and recommended a transmission replacement at $3,300.00. i had both major services performed 15,000 service & 30,000 miles service and have changed my oil every 3,000-3,500 miles. i use this car mainly for pleasure on the weekends, thus the low mileage. i asked power ford how i caused this they said i did't, that there is metal/brass in the pan and it is internal damage. but i didn't use them for regular services so there will be no assistance given. how sad!! i work at honda and have the only ford in the parking lot, when i do drive it to work.*ak

Purchased my 2000 f-150 from gorno ford in trenton, mi with 30,000 miles on the odometer. in less than 2 years and less than 15, 000 miles the following malfunctions have occurred: front t-rod broke (replaced), front u-joints had to be replaced, parking brake froze up disabling entire system, all brake pads and rotors had to be replaced. this vehicle is not even at 50,000 miles yet.*ak

Failure of transmission at 58000 miles. upon inspection, a sticker was found on the transmission that claimed it was eligible for replacement the year of purchase. truck was part of the 'sold as heavy duty but we will give you a rebate because it is not really heavy duty' scam. *ak

Had to replace transmission 3 times in 1 year.*ak

Vehicle would still roll while in park gear on an incline. dealer was notified. feel free to provide any further information concerning this matter.*ak

Transmission problems: clutch does not want to disengage properly. driver must attempt to change gears repeatedly in order to shift. this produces dangerous driving problems. ignition problem: frequently on start the ignition switch fails to turn on all equipment and abs brake light comes on. reported to local dealer and was told to jiggle the switch. unacceptable. horn problem: in hazardous driving situations, attempt to sound horn is impossible since area of steering wheel that will cause horn to sound is extremely small. this results in dangerous driving conditions

The standard transmission grinds going into third all the time and going into first sometimes. this has been going on since 40,000 miles. after many trips to the dealer, i finally found out that this is a common problem and they would do nothing for me. i love the truck, but hate the transmission.*ak

At 55mph and over, severe vibration/difficulty controlling truck. 4 returns to dealer, who performed exhaust and other repairs/mods, no improvement. dealer and ford said normal. 2 independent mechanics discover bent driveshaft. dealer told, dealer finally replaces driveshaft. truck now ok. have heard many others complain of same problem/ford/dealer treatment.

While traveling at 60 mph the speedometer dropped to 25 mph and the "low range" light illuminated. the vehicle never slowed and the 4 wheel drive low did not engage. the problem occurs sporadically at all speeds.*ak

While at a dead stop foot slipped off the clutch, and consumer bounced into the back of another car. upon impact, airbags tried to deploy, but didn't all the way. also, there was a big hole in the drivers side air bag. consumer felt that airbags should not have been interrupted by such a small bump.*ak

While driving throttle malfunctioned, causing sudden acceleration. driver had to press down the brakes in order to stop vehicle. this may have caused a crash. also, problems with the transmission system. after taken in to the dealer, dealer claimed that no adjustments were needed, the floor mats were causing the problem. consumer believes that adjustments were made however, because vehicle shifts much better now. *ak *ml

The stick rattles like a snake-tail in 2@3 gears mostly,at 3k-rpm: machanics say,this is normal...huh?
