Purchased a 2020 explorer on feb 11, noticed smoke from the hood right when i arrived home from the dealer, contacted them and they said it might be normal for a new vehicle to have some smoke in the beginning, later i noticed that the interior heat is only blowing cold air so i was about to take it to the nearest dealer to check it out, i remote started the car through the official fordpass app and then 10 minutes later i entered the car and the engine light and the coolant light was on before i even started driving (car has 78 miles on it) , ( i also got 2 notifications from the app that the engine is overheating) so i called ford to tow it, now its sitting by ford service for 2 days and they are saying that it's a coolant leak but they don't know where it leaks to and they are waiting to hear back from ford engineers on how to proceed, it seems like ford may have serious issues with the engine coolant system and this is potentially putting any explorer driver at risk of the vehicle stalling while driving, increasing the ...

Vehicle overheated without warning leaving me stranded on a deserted highway. after speaking with a mechanic and having them come to the vehicles location and performing a visual inspection he stated antifreeze was leaking from the water pump. the vehicle was taken to a local ford dealer and upon completing a diagnostic check they confirmed the 'internal' water pump had failed without warning. i was contacted 5 times by the dealership and each time the news got worse. then final call the advisor told me to fix it and nothing was going to be guaranteed to last it was going to cost approximately $4,000 before taxes. they'd also have to change the oil twice along with the spark plugs. the vehicle had just been at a local ford dealership for maintenance and to fix outstanding recalls and after checking the service manual nothing is 'suggested' 'recommended' or 'required' to service the internal water pump.

Re: 2017 ford explorer. car dying out on acceleration from a stop. a scary thing happened on rt #619 today in hartville. that is, the car died out halfway out onto the roadway, it pauses for some seconds where the accelerator does nothing. then it picks up by itself. the throttle does nothing. none of these actions are desirable. these behaviors put us in great danger. so let's see, this happened twice in the morning i brought it to the dealership (monday 01-06-2020). and, it happened once the 2nd day back to me on friday 01-31-2019. but it did not happen for you in the 4 weeks you had it to test. amazing isn't it? well, i think i'm going to go along with the many other people online that report the identical problem that i experience. in my car, it's been a problem since new. i do believe ford is well aware of this problem. i also believe they're not going to do anything to correct it until they're made to. when i asked the service manager, he said to me: "ford told us ...

Vehicle stalled when pulling out from a stop light onto a highway (65mph). it took several attempts to restart. the vehicle once put in drive jerked forward/backward when i hit the gas. the rpms went up but the car was not driving well. it stalled again. i had to repeat this process 4 more times. it finally began to drive and then the engine light came on. the ford pass app gave me an error code. malfunction indicator lamp. the vehicle has 109 miles. the car is with the dealer less than 2 days after purchase.

Constant smells of carbon monoxide in my vehicle almost every time i accelerate above 3500 rpm. i've taken it to two dealerships more than three times for the same problem with no solution. every time i get in my vehicle i dread smelling this stuff and hope it doesn't affect me or a loved one.

I have coolant leaking, i took it to a shop to be diagnosed and was told that it would cost over $2,000 since the water pump is in the front of the engine, there is only 132,000 miles on my car and i shouldn't be having this issue!!

In december 2019 while driving at about 70 mph uphill on interstate highway at nightime, the engine suddenly lost power. depressing the accelerator pedel had no effect and the transmission acted as if it was shifted to neutral even though it was still in drive. the engine rpm seemed to dropp to idle speed. i lost forward motion rapidly. i had to cross two lanes of high speed traffic to pull onto shoulder. it was a very dangerous manuever as there was considerable traffic and i had to react quickly. i had to cut in front of cars moving much faster than i was, causing them to have to brake heavily. the engine continued to run for a while at about idle speed once i reached the shoulder, but would the vehicle would not move forward. all lights on vehicle, including emergency flashers, worked fine. within about a minute of getting to the shoulder, the engine started running rough and then shut down entirely and would not restart. i lifted the hood and saw nothing obviously wrong. after several minutes, i attemptedd to restart the engine. the engine restarted immediately and ...
