I am a new ford owner. i bought my used ford explorer (vin# [xxx]) on 12/26/17. right now i am worried about my ford explorer. my entire family ( my 2 kids, my wife and myself ) has been getting nauseous and dizziness last couple weeks. i installed a monoxide of carbon detector in the car and it doesn't stop going off, it buzzes every 60 seconds. obviously, there is something wrong with the car. i had tried many times to schedule a service for my car online and over the phone but ford dealers are not cooperating. thanks [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Very strong smell of gas inside of cabin while driving with heat on. *tr
Since early october 2016, i've had a near-constant exhaust smell, similar to what natural gas or sulfur smells like, in the cabin of my vehicle that is resulting in headaches (literally) for my entire family. dealership has made multiple attempts to repair and has been unsuccessful. the exhaust fumes are coming into the cabin when the engine is started and vehicle is parked or moving. in my online research, i've found that ford is under investigation by nhtsa for this issue for 2010-15 models, but i believe my 2016 model is affected as well. *tr
Always got tired when i drove the vehicle. i never felt completely alert when i drove it. i wouldn't take my grandchild anywhere with me in that vehicle because i didn't feel comfortable or safe driving in it with others. one day i got really light headed and the next thing i knew is i wrecked the vehicle into the side of an over pass wall at 35 mph. i no longer have the vehicle, but i never knew why it happened. did the vehicle have a cabin monoxide leak? when i had the accident i was so out of it that i thought a car was beside me or something. all i know is i never felt safe driving it with the way it made me feel...updated 12/13/17 *bf *tr

2016 ford explorer. consumer writes in regards to vehicle complete loss of power, airbag, check engine and powertrain warning lights illuminated at various times and accelerator malfunction. *smd the consumer stated while driving on a main road, he heard a loud thud accompanied by an immediate and complete loss of power. the engine was still running, but the vehicle quickly lost speed and the accelerator was not functioning. it seemed as though the engine was idling. the consumer was able to maneuver the vehicle safely out of traffic and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. the dealer informed the consumer, the throttle body needed to be replaced. also, there was a recurring electrical issue that he experienced in january 2016 with the first month of delivery. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for service on two separate occasions due to dead batteries. *jb
I may have already complained, but this can update that. when pulling a long grade and the vehicle has downshifted,3500 or more rpm and about 65 mph under load, i smell sulfur in the cabin. it seems to be worse when the covers for my moon roof and sun roof are retracted. it has been in to a dealer 4 times now, so i have lost a month of use. the last return was on friday 1 july. i have not had a chance to take it to a local mountain that makes it smell. ford keeps working on the back end, the exhaust there has almost no smell. i told the dealer the sulfur smell comes form exhaust that is escaping from the engine up to the back of the catalytic converters. there are two turbos on this vehicle and i believe two separate exhaust paths. somewhere up front there is a leak that stinks. thank you *tr
