My 2000 ford explorer will not start on an incline. we've replaced the fuel pump and now the ford dealership tells me that the gas tank is corroded, the baffles are broken and the air intake valve is defective. this car is only 5 years old. i have had other cars for 10-15 years and have not had a corrosion problem within the fuel tank. i believe this is caused by a defective fuel tank...how can i pursue this matter. the dealer wants $1600 to fix the car.
This exlorer/eddie bauer was leased brand new. i have had nothing but problems beginning with the first week of having it (ie. stalling, shutting off, engine failure, excessive wind noise, window/radio replacement, inaccurate fuel readings etc..). i have been bounced back and forth between the service and sales dept. of the dealship. their favorite answer to a problem is, "we are unable to duplicate consumer concern." hello!!!!, this is why you get paid the big bucks! i am not an engineer or savy with vehicle terminology. however, i think i'm smart enough to know there is a major problem here. i am a single parent who is concerned for myself and child's safety. this has been a nightmare for me and i am reaching out to whomever will listen to my concerns. *ak
