2003 Ford Expedition

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 ford expedition equipped with mirada cross tour slx tires, size: 265/70r17. while driving approximately 70 mph, a pop noise was heard. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. the contact noticed that the tread on the front driver's side tire separated and destroyed the rear driver's side tire. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (bigh tire and muffler, 1695 south volusia ave, orange city, fl 32763) where it was diagnosed that the steel cord in the front tire failed and fractured the cord in the rear tire. the tires were replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. six weeks later, while driving approximately 80 mph, the vehicle vibrated and was pulled over to the side of the road. the contact noticed that the front passenger side tire tread and the wire separated. the tire was replaced with a spare tire. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle failure mileage was approximately 274,000 and the tire failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

The tread is separating from the tire on all four tires. there is about 30k on the tires which have a 70k mile warranty. the same tire although different size are recalled for the same issue.

While traveling at 60 mph, right rear tire failed to hold together. a "thumping" sound was head just prior to the tire exploding. diver maintained control after hitting the retaining wall along the freeway. vehile impacted rataining wall once, then spun and inpacted it again totaling the vehicle after airbags deployed. upon the on scene inspection, it has been determined that the tire separated and lost all tread. no deaths happened as a result of the driver not panicing and maintaining what control she was able to. tire was a continental contitrac suv. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 ford expedition equipped with cooper definity dakota a/t tires, size 265/70r17 (na). while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle began to lose control and veered off the road. the contact pulled over and noticed all of the tread on the driver side rear tire was missing. a spare tire was installed on the vehicle. the tire was not taken to have the failure diagnosed. the failure and current mileages were 75,000.
