My 2012 exhibition exhibits the same symptoms that are described in recall# 12v190000. while at highway speeds; speedometer drops to zero, transmission shifts to 5th gear and when the breaks are applied downsifts to 1st gear causing wheel hop and possible loss of control and injury. it was manufactured in the included time frame and at the included kentucky manufacturing plant, yet the vehicle is not eligible for the recall repair because it is not listed in the recall registration system so dealers won't fix it. this is a expensive repair recall with potentially fatal consequences.
Tl* the contact owned a 2017 ford expedition. the contact stated that the vehicle would automatically downshift and stall when travelling on the highway at 70 mph. the dealer diagnosed that the issue was due to the transmission lead frame and recommended a replacement. the sudden downshift causes the contact's body to slam into the steering wheel and console. there are currently no recalls on the vehicle. the contact would be taking the vehicle to the shop for repairs. manufacturer has not yet been contacted. the failure mileage was 80,000. the vin was not available.
2019 expedition 10 speed transmission locked up after 2 hours of "free wheeling" behind my motorhome. while approaching (no turning yet) to parking area about 3 to 5 mph suddently car just locked rear wheels up. when car was started up there were grinding sound coming out of transmission. since unable to unlock or "free" the transmission car was sent to local dealership more than 400 miles from home. ford dealer installed a new 10-speed transmission. week later i attempted to pick up the car, but after an hour of driving light color smoke came behind the vehicle. car was hauled back to same dealership for furter service. no real reason given why all these happened. ... do i have a "lemon", vehicle has only about 8000 miles.
Car will downshift to 1st gear, engine rpm will go to 8000, and loss of power. this is a major concern with winter coming on, when one travels on ice or snow and car decides to downshift, guess what, one will wreck!! has been to two dealerships for a total of 23 days and they cant find anything. no codes are stored. also from time to time when starting all electrical power will come on but no start. take key out wait a few minutes then key works.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford expedition. the contact stated that while the vehicle was idling with the park engaged, the vehicle shifted out of gear and rolled backwards crashing into a steel post without warning. the front and rear passenger side doors were ajar. additionally, the key fell out of the ignition switch. the occupant seated in the rear jumped out of the vehicle but sustained no injuries or medical attention. no police report was filed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated the vehicle was not drivable. the contact called nelson ford located at 201 commonwealth blvd w, martinsville, va 24112 but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 247,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford expedition. while driving 30 mph, the transmission experienced a hard gear shift and several unknown warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the transmission shifted into second gear and remained in second gear. the vehicle was towed to ford lincoln of franklin (located at 1129 murfreesboro rd, franklin, tn 37064, (615) 800-6500) where it was diagnosed that the oss sensor circuit fault-p0722 failed and needed to be replaced. the mechanic was also able to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 66,000.
2016 model, purchased in 2018. while driving to work on 7/26/19, driving on highway, going 60 mph the "wrench" warning light came on and the vehicle immediately decelerated to 40 mph, starting sputtering and shaking. i was able to limp the vehicle to the side of the road and turn off the engine. i waited a few minuets and restarted the vehicle. initially it seem to run as normal with no warning lights. i continued on the highway for maybe 3/4 a mile and the wrench light and check engine light both came on at the same time the vehicle shut down. i was forced to pull over to a narrow side of the busy highway. i turned off the engine, praying no one would hit me. i turned the car back on and headed for the local dealership service center. the only light that remained on was check engine light. once at the dealer they diagnosed it as the throttle body was " out of range". the solution would be to replace the throttle body which would cost me $900. despite the charges needed for the repair, my concern is safety of driving the vehicle in which the vehicle ...
2016, purchased 2018. while driving to florida from indiana for vacation 7/6/19, on highway driving 80mph, vehicle check engine light came on and vehicle immediately lost power and we were able to limp to left side of highway spitting and sputtering, unable to accelerate and continue. turned engine off and waited 5-10 minutes to restart. vehicle returned to sounding normal. we were able to continue on to florida for 7day trip. then driving home to indiana, while highway driving and accelerating to pass a car, dash wrench light came on and vehicle lost all power and we were barely able to get to the left unsafe small side of highway, up against a concrete wall...during heavy 3 lanes of traffic. vehicle again spit and sputtered and barely able to move. we were unable to get vehicle safely off of highway. a tow truck had to be called to tow us to the next exit to a gas station. vehicle turned back on and wrench light off but check engine light now flashing, we chose to continue driving the remaining 5hrs home going 50-55mph. researched issue online and found this to be a throttle body issue, common with ford vehicles. took ...
I'm driving at normal speed when suddenly my malfunction indicator lights up and no engine power. the power steering, braking, lighting and climate control systems remain fully functional, however the vehicle no longer remains operational. ford has a recall 16b32 and customer satisfaction program in other ford vehicles, but not mine, but the same exact thing is happening. . $890 latter i am having my electronic throttle body replaced with only 52,000 miles and ford has nothing to say about the problem since the expedition is not part of the csp. apparently, in a variety of ford vehicles, the electronic throttle body internal motor contacts may develop contamination resulting in increased electrical resistance. if this happens, which in my case it did, the mil light came on and the i experienced a decreased amount of engine power and speed and i couldn't accelerate. this happened on the highway, but thankfully i was able to coast to the shoulder without getting hit. the dealer is replacing the throttle body, reprograming my vehicle, and cleaning the injections. there are a lot of complaints about this for the 2016 ford expedition, but ford is not doing ...
During acceleration towards 60mph- 70mph the truck will begin to vibrate a little, then the wrench light comes on. as you settle on a speed the vibration stops unless you have to slow down to speed back up. once you pull over and turn the truck off for a bit and turn it on the wrench disappears.
