I filed a complaint sometime last week about my car having coolant leaks and overheating due to this leak. well i took my car to the shop and was out 400 dollars to fix this. the shop ended up having to order two of the same parts because they were all faulty. a week later my car is fixed. worked for 2 days and the part that came directly from ford was faulty again. car almost blew up on the highways because coolant was leaking everywhere. there was literally none in my car. when is this going to become important enough to fix? when the engine is completely ruined? i was driving down the highway today and all the lights on my dash came on saying engine temp dangerously high. turn engine off immediately but by this point i was already smoking out the hood, it smelled like coolant inside my car, i pull over and get out and i see my tired are soaked, the whole sidewalk up under me was puddled, my engine was covered in coolant. i had to have it towed.

Passenger front door will not close, while driving saturday 9/14/2019 approximately 7:30 pm my passenger front door flew open. i was traveling approximately 25 mph when this happened and had no passenger in my vehicle. i tried numerous times to close the door, but it will not close. i have had to tie the door closed (a picture is attached). this vehicle was part of a recall back in october 2016 #16s30 and was fixed on 5/15/2017. i called my local ford dealership and they said because the recall was already fixed i would have to pay for this repair. i do not feel that i should have to pay for this repair and would like to know if there have been any other occurrences of this happening. i have reached out to ford motor company but have yet to hear back from them. i have attached the recall notice and price quote for me to have this repaired. thank you for your help and i look forward to hearing from you soon, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt

While driving down the road, the left rear door opened up. pulled over to shut the door.. the door will not stay shut. my son was in the back seat and thankfully always wears his seat belt. this is very dangerous and someone can be killed with this defect.

While driving down highway 52 yesterday evening my ford escape 2013 caught on fire. i was able to pull to the side after it seized (brakes quit in the process) and had to jump out the passenger side door as the whole engine was on fire and engulfing the driver side.

Doors will shut and remain shut even when doors are unlocked and child locks are disengaged. a door that is not securely latched or latched indefinitely could open while the vehicle is in motion increasing the risk of an injury to a vehicle occupant. vehicle was stationary when experiencing this issue.

Driver side exterior door handle sticks 75% of the time, while vehicle was stationary

The back door latch does not function properly. i cannot open the rear passenger door. there was a recall at one time & my dealership said they fixed it but it still isn’t opening. can i take it back in w/o a charge to me

Driver's side door latch wouldn't lock. the consumer referenced safety recall 16s30. requested to be reimbursed for the repair. the consumer filled out the appropriate paper work, but had not heard back from the manufacturing company.

I was on a road trip that lasted about 6-7 hours. i had been passing cars sometimes at high speeds. sometime during the driving my eyes started burning really bad. it continued for days until i went to my doctor and got drops for them. i took the car the very next day to a ford dealer for inspection and it has now been over 5 weeks with them and as far as i know, nothing has been done to the car. it has been turned over to ford motor and is with the general counsel's department. the road trip was approximately 400-500 miles in total on the highways of washington state. *js

1. my front bumper came apart 2 weeks after purchase at a place where the metal was welded and then came halfway of all pieces fell off attached to front bumper and no collision took place however when i backed up out of the parking space it caught on the curb and pulled apart even more. 2. since purchase after fill up the engine cranks however will not turn over without applying a little gas. 3. now yesterday i have too turn on ignition twice to start everytime i need to turn on the car. 4. i also had 5 recalls the dealership did not make me aware of fixed ( they only said rear seatbelts had to be replaced) well shortly after i purchased 3 doors wouldn't latch i had to rope my doors shut until i could get into sewel ford. my family has been in so much danger in this vehicle. i am a 40 year old disabled woman with 3 children, my step -dad is blind, my brother is terminally ill and needless to say i need a reliable vehicle in one piece. i have filed a complaint with the attorney general and the dmv responded that an investigation has been set out to determine how much of this is manufacture defect and what part the dealership played by non- disclosure of remaining recalls making me believe they were concerned for our safety by fixing the rear seat belts.

Windshields with no seal causing lots of air nosies like the windows are down

Rear driver's side door remains locked. cannot unlock and open door. this can be a safety issue for rear seat passenger.

I went to open the driver side door and the handle and lock fell off. this, i am sure is not normal. i have and i own older vehicles where the handle had never fallen off. i am able to but the handle back on temporarily but i cant get the lock to stay in.

Drivers door outside handle sticks in the open position when pulled on to open door. sometimes sticking open several seconds and longer.

While driving the vehicle at low speed (thank god) i attempted to turn and the steering hung up. i could feel the floor board under my feet move as i tried to turn the wheel. i forced it to turn and then stopping, i looked under the car only to find a large piece or the whole piece of the heat shield had come loose and was laying on top of the exhaust system and the steering. i pulled it loose, some was torn up, and pushed the rest out of the way of the steering. drove home. was informed it was not under warranty. car has 63,000 miles on it. never driven hard.

Hood latch won't release, it's completely stuck after popping the hood lever. i notice this after the door latches went bad and i had service them under a known recall issue.

I was driving down i49, shreveport, la. at approximately 65 mph, high tempature warning came on followed by engine failure warning, as i was making my way to the roadside engine shut down. steam started coming from under the hood, when the vehical came to a stop, i popped the hood, as i got out of the car i noticed a small amount of blue smoke, followed by black smoke, i did not open hood, 30 seconds latter flames were shooting from under the hood, i called 911 as the flames engulfed the front of the car

First complaint is the internal door panels do not properly fit and come loose becoming caught on the frame of the car not allowing you to open the door to exit the vehicle which is highly dangerous in an emergency. 2) the shift selector switch broke as my spouse was driving the car not allowing him to shift the car into park or shut it off. this is highly dangerous and quite common a mechanics told us.

Both rear doors are rusting from the inside out at the bottom of the doors. this was noticed two months ago.

Recall 16v-643 received recall notice. when i tried to make an apt for repairs told call back in a month? i transport children and why when i receive a letter telling me to call they do not have the parts? i own two 2013 escapes. totally unprepared for this recall.

Recall was issued for defective door latch on september 2, 2016 (nhtsa recall number 16v643). it is now march 6, 2017, over six months later, and still no remedy has been offered by ford. i have called the dealer once per month trying to get the faulty part replaced and have been told that there is no estimate for when it will be available. ford should be held accountable for remedying this recall in a timely manner and should be penalized for failing to do so.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while the vehicle was stationary, the contact's foot became stuck between the brake pedal and the center console. the contact referenced manufacturer recall number: 12s34, which originally remedied vehicles manufactured between march 8, 2012 and june 7, 2012; however, the contact's vehicle was not included. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 77,000.

I was driving with a passenger in the front seat when the passenger front door opened as i was driving. i was driving about 50mph. i pulled over to try and shut the door, but it would not latch. i had to bungee cord the door to the seat in order to get to the dealership.

Driving my 2013 ford escape sel with only 52000 miles on it home from shopping in reno, nevada. i was in washoe valley, nv when i though the high winds were keeping my car from speeding up, when i could not accelerate i pulled to the slow lane and then onto the shoulder. i put the car in park and look at my dash to see if i was overheating or any other issues were apparent. my dash showed nothing wrong at all. no lights or warnings of any kind. the gages were all running normal. i put my car in park and within a second or two a large very black billow of smoke came up back part of the engine nearest to he drivers side window. then second later larger fire flames came right behind it that went over the top of my car. my car went up in flames in just moments. i had to jump from the burning car to safely.

I experienced door latch recall issue after hours on friday, february 17th while driving! i called the company on saturday morning and was told that the service department was not open. on monday i contacted them again several times to be told by the service department that the computer system was down. i even went to the dealership and got no help, being told that the replacement parts were not expected until 2nd quarter of the year. what? my door is broken now!!! i even asked if they could replace it with a defective part if they had any on-hand so that my car could be drivable. up to now i have gotten no response because their system was down. called a personal contact on tuesday afternoon and was asked to call back on wednesday morning. i did. i was asked if i received a letter, to which i replied no, but i do have the problem and do i need to have a letter to get the obviously defective part replaced? i shared my vin number as requested and am still awaiting feedback on this. this is absolutely unacceptable business practice. i started looking into purchasing the part, but that should not be necessary.

Windshield has been leaking for awhile. did not notice until stain appeared inside on the headliner.

Recall and dealer has not taken action or notified us.

I received a recall notice in october 2016 (safety recall notice 16s30/nhtsa 16v-643. the recall related to a side door latch that may break. i reported the situation via request # 165121. i contacted my dealer who said the parts were unavailable. i believe nearly 3 years is long enough to satisfy a safety issue.

A door latch with a fractured pawl spring tab typically results in a "door will not close" condition. a door that opens while driving increases the risk of injury. difficulty shutting drivers door. recall status: recall incomplete. remedy not yet available. *tr

One month ago, july 2016 the rear driver's side door suddenly opened and would not latch. we tried everything; we could not drive the car because during turns the door would swing open and the alarm would not stop dinging. i did some research and saw that this has been an on going problem/recall with this year 2013 escapes. i took the car in to the ford dealer and was told my car was not part of the recall. i called ford, spoke with customer service and was again told, my car not part of recall. i expressed my concern that this could happen again and it was very dangerous! they said if recall is expanded i can get a refund for my repair. one month and 7 days later the same thing happens to the rear passenger door. my dog nearly flew out of the car. i am furious that ford knows there is an issue and refuses to take responsibility. this is not a minor issue. someone or something is going to fly out of a car. when turning left, the door just flies open. there is also no way to lock car. the door will not latch. i will again never purchase a ford.

The rear door will not latch shut.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, waited a few minutes, and was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. in addition, the front passenger door failed to remain locked. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v237000 (air bags), 14v239000 (structure), 14v597000 (air bags, seat belts), and 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages). the parts needed for the repairs were not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 138,000. parts distribution disconnect and vin tool confirms parts not available.

Recall notice 16s30 i contacted miracle ford in gallatin, tn phone: (615) 452-5267. the dealer said they did not have the part for the recall until the 2nd quarter of 2017. i am not sure what the 2nd quarter of 2017 is because i don't know their business calendar. i called ford directly 1 (800) 392-3673 and i talked with a person. at the end of the call on oct 21st around 5:15pm cst, ford sent me back to the dealer. the dealer voice message was full. i am not sure what to do next since neither parties have the tools and resources in place to fix my recall. the door on the passenger side as opened 4-5 times as i take a turn from left to right. the car was in motion going about 15-25 mph. please contact me at [xxx]. my name is [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

While driving down the road in a residential neighborhood, the "door ajar" alert appeared on the dashboard display screen. after pulling over to close the rear passenger door i noticed it would not close. after each attempt to close the door it would not latch. it would just bounce back open. the latching mechanism would not function, so i had to tie the door shut with a rope in order for it to not swing open while driving the vehicle back home. faulty door latch seems to be the issue here.

While in motion the passenger door flew open while turning. the latch inside the door broke for no apparent reason. there have been many recalls of other ford vehicles that have had the same problem. but escapes have not been included. we are fortunate that no one fell out of the vehicle while turning the corner. the car was on a city highway turning onto another city highway.

Driver door swung open as i was driving in town. door won't latch shut.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that they received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v643000 (locks/linkages) however, the part for the recall repair was not available. the contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the contact also stated that the door handle's were previously repaired under a recall. the details of the failure were not available. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 9,093. vin tool confirms remedy not yet available.

The door latch on the rear door failed to latch. the car could not be driven because the door would not latch and opened when making a turn. this is the same door latch that has been recalled on other ford models. why is this recalled part on other models not recalled in the ford escape. it is the same part.

The liftgate is malfunctioning. the powered lift gate raises up after the button is pushed, opens full, stops fully opened for a split second before slamming down without warning. the liftgate will not stay open on its own, no matter how you open it. warning: could cause bodily injury, be aware of the liftgate at all times.

The passenger door open while i was driving. recall 14s03 does not apply to my model.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while shutting the rear driver side door, the contact's right ring finger was caught by the door. the contact was rushed to the emergency room where medical attention was required to correctly amputate the top of the right ring finger. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 30,000.

Drivers door appeared be closed but taking a slow right turn the door swung open. *tr

Twice the passenger interior door frames have separated from the door and became caught on items inside the vehicle such as the seat etc. this causes the door to become stuck and unable to open. both times it took we well over 30 minutes to dislodge the frame and reattach to the frame to be able to open the door. both times, the vehicle had been just parked and i was trying to retrieve my infant daughter from the back seat. i fear that if i had been in an accident i would not be able to safely retrieve my daughter from the vehicle. if this occurs with no impact, what would happen in case of an impact? would all 4 doors become lodged?

On december 20, 2014 at approximately 3:30 pm we were driving on i15 - into salt lake city - 19 miles south of i-80. passenger moon roof shattered with a loud bang! sounded like an explosion. it raised up the glass on the outside of the car. the temperature was 41 degrees outside & 71 degrees inside care. my husband & i were the only people in the car. we were in 5-6 lanes of traffic & did not stop until we got off the highway. rain was coming so we took pictures with our camera & i phone & taped up the roof over the cracks & covered it with a tarp. we returned to boise area the following day. we parked it in our garage until we could deliver the car to lithia ford in boise on 12/22/14. (we purchased it from lithia ford) the service tech said he thought it would be covered by warranty but would have to contact ford & get back with us. we researched this problem & saw in the past that this has happened. ford made the decision, it was something we did & we therefore had to turn it into our insurance & we had to pay the deductible. we believe ford should have covered this damage, not our insurance company. *tr

The ford escape 2010 was parked, the tailgate was opened to put in a baby carriage, the tailgate was pulled down to close as usual, and the glass exploded and shattered, inside and outside the vehicle. there was no warning, and no previous incident with the glass or the tailgate. *tr

I own a ford escape se 2013, this last weekend (10/13/2014) my wife was getting off the car when suddenly the door was pushed out by the wind, her finger was injured with a small edge corner right at the far end of the passenger door, a little metal exposed. i got pictures of the thing and the finger. so be really careful specially if your kids are at the same height as the sharp point on the door; they can get injured on the face!! *tr
