We have classified the 4 complaints from 2002 Ford Escape about ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL into the following categories.
Bought this car and 2 miles down road check engine, abs, and the brake as well as the over drive (only one flashing) came on. the car gear shift lever pops out of gear. the vehicle has a new tranny. the vehicle stalls, and is blowing tranny fluid. it has had the compute replacee on a recall. every issue i have found relates to recalls, yet fore told me nope zero recalls on this even after i showed him proof of a recall on the engine itself. so recalls; 07v156000, 15v606000, 12v005000, and 04v165000 somehow do not apply? so i have to crash before ford willl even look at the car. it pops out of gear! clearly an abs malfunction or not? all hazards.
My engine coolant light stays on even after taking steps to fix it as it was a problem with the 2002 ford escapes, and there is a problem with my power steering as fluid and all that is fine, which i read was a recall also.
The vehicle, after being turned off, would not turn back on, and the gear indicator square that surrounds the engaged gear was multiplying, flashing and "dancing" from gear to gear. this happened a second time exactly one week later, and this time the interior lights were flashing and could not be stopped. after quite some time once the key was removed and the door was closed, the flashing interior lights ceased and would only continue again once the key was in the ignition. though removing the key caused the lights to stop flashing, even once the key was removed, the indicator square continued the behavior. periodically during operation the lights strengthen in and out when idling. *tr
I own three ford escapes and on this vehicle i've had the right front abs ring snap same as all the others with no warranty from the dealer. *tr
Front end troubles with ford escape 02 xlt. constant noises coming from the front. dealer changed stability bar, engine mounts and now need to change tie rods and fix steering wheel noise but there is no fix as of yet per the dealership. car is only driven on suburban roads and never been off road.*ak
