On two separate occassions (04/23/04 & 04/30/04) my 2001 ford escape just stopped running with no warning what so ever. after the 1st incident a recall repair was completed (drivetrain module) and thought to have fixed the problem. exactly a week later the vehicle just stopped running again. the dealership couldn't be certain, but the problem seemed to be a faulty fuel pump. the repair was made, costing nearly $500, and so far no problems. had this problem occurred on a busy interstate, the outcome could have been very disastrous. *ak

I filled out a complaint and the # was confirmation number (odi number) is: 10019115. i had stuck wrong mileage down the mileage is 38000 not 80000. *nlm

Vehicle engine revs/searches/hunts, while driving steady and maintaining a constant speed on a level road, going down or up a hill and the accelerator is not being played with. intermittently vehicle handling seems to lose the power assist - turning all of the sudden requires more muscle effort - and handling gets very stiff. suv has stalled 5 times already and dealer still unable to correct the problem. every time - i lost the steering, the brakes, the accelerator and the electrical systems. escape is a very scary and dangerous suv - unable to predict when it will stall or when it will suddenly accelerate (i don't dare use the cruise control).

Vehicle stalled wihtout warning while driving @~30mph. this has happened several other times on the road. dealer has performed repairs 3 other times as follows: visit 1 - changed fuel pump relay, visit 2 - changed ecm module relay, visit 3 - replaced fuel pump and sender. dealer service has indicated that they were unable to find exact cause of stalling, so they are replacing components in hopes of catching the problem. after vehicle stalled, power steering and brakes were non-functional and i once again needed to pull off the road evasively to avoid rear-ending the cars in front of me. clarification: this most recent stalling incident occured today, even after the fuel pump was replaced.*ak
