In july 2016 i had the brake booster replaced at a dealership after encountering braking problems, it was a warranty issue (68530 miles). early february 2020 i started to experience the same problem with the brakes, they were spongy and i had to press the brake pedal to the floor to get the vehicle to stop. today (2/12/2020) with 101155 miles on the vehicle, i was pulling into a parking lot (slow speed) and i encountered the same problem, except no spongy brakes, zero braking ability until i had the brake pedal fully pressed to the floorboard. eventually the vehicle came to a stop. i have reached out to the dealership that conducted the maintenance and i am waiting to hear back from them. note: the brake fluid level is fine. the experience earlier this month took place when i was preparing to park. this is a very serious safety issue, i am concerned for not only my safety but the people i encounter on the roads. i ran my vin and see that i have no recalls that have yet to be addressed; but my concern is that perhaps the faulty ...
Vehicle had brake booster recall 13 no2 done previously. and brake booster has gone out again. car does not start properly ford will not warranty the repair.
I have a 2013 ford edge awd sel model, this past feb. 7, 2020 as traveling on a 3 hour trip to northern new york, for the most part their were no issues until i approached my destination which had heavy snow the day before.i needed to decline on a steep road that had snow, slushy spots, as i applied the brakes and shifted into low gear the abs system kicked in and after that the pedal was spongy.and pedal approached the floor.after being a former ford dealer for 40 yrs. was able to take the trip back but with caution.i have practiced mechanics for 25 yrs of that 40.now retired and to it to a local technician, had brakes checked, were in good shape but on the check of the abs system it indicated a possible stuck valve in the hcu unit which is costly.taking it to fellow ford dealer whom i've known for 45 yrs. to varify. i know how the ford system works and it takes pressure from public to collect data and at some point issue a recall on this matter.
While braking, the brakes didn't not perform as expected. they were working fine, then it felt like i couldn't stop in time. i had to push the peddle all the way down to stop. it caught me off guard, and almost couldn't stop in time. there was a hissing noise from the petal afterwards. the condition existed until i stopped, parked the car, and waited several hours. then the next time i drove it, no issues. i checked the brake system and determined. - no visible leaks - brake pads have plenty of life - brake fluid reservoir still full
For several months my brakes have gotten worse and worse. brake pads were replaced, brakes adjusted and even flooring the brakes sometimes does not work. car has hesitated and shut off at intersections. rain has caused some hydroplaning. car continues rolling with brake pedal pushed all the way down. i stopped the car at a traffic light, but the car continued to roll slowly and ran into the vehicle in front of me! help! no damage to either exterior, but i don't know what might happen next.
11/2018 - while parked in my driveway i pressed brake to start car, car jerked and pedal went to the floor. i pumped brakes and they seemed to be okay. started driving and pedal went to the floor again when i was braking. was only able to stop by pumping brakes. dealer stated that a front brake line ruptured and repaired the line. vehicle was 2 years old. with under 36,000 miles on 1/27/2020 while driving on a city street, i pressed the brake pedal and heard a loud bang and the pedal went to the floor. i tried pumping the brakes and heard another bang with the pedal going to the floor again. i was down the street from my home so i was able to get the car home and call a tow truck. i had it towed to a private mechanic who stated that both front brake lines had ruptured.
In september 2014, ford has issued a "customer satisfaction" notice regarding the extended warranty on brake function component. notice id :13n02. the issue was possibility of break booster premature failure leading to unpredictable braking performance. there are 2 significant issues with this notice: 1. the part that fails is a major safety issue and should have been treated with immediate recall instead of an extended warranty offering - as the failure of this part leads to unpredictable braking performance at an unpredictable time frame. 2. it only covers vehicles produced between certain dates, while the real extent of faulty brake system component goes way beyond the scope covered in this notice. i own a 2013 ford edge truck with production date of 06/13. the mileage on this vehicle is under 58000. about a week ago the braking function of this car has failed significantly leading to a near crash situation. this happened when i was driving closer to a traffic stop at about 20 mph and started gradually applying brakes and to my surprise the car kept on moving without any noticeable braking applied. realizing that, i pressed ...
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford edge. while driving, the brakes failed and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed. the contact stated that there was no brake fluid in the vehicle and the brake emergency warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
While driving at approximately 55-60 miles per hour the traction control and traction control off light lit up and a red brake malfunction light came on and the engine stopped while the car was in motion. we coasted to the side of the road and it took two attempts to start it again. the traction control light and traction control off light is still on. it happen three times so far and two of those times was while we were on the interstate in traffic travelling at 60-70 mph. this was not safe at all. when it shuts off there is a big thud sound and the traction control, traction control off and a red brake malfunction light comes on. after the second time there is now a rattle. i have the car at home now but it has a hesitation in it when it is first started this all has happened in the last 4 days.
The brakes randomly become soft and the pedal goes almost to the floor before bringing the car to a complete stop. a recall for this same problem was put out on 12/23/2019 for 2006-10 ford fusion, mercury milan, lincoln mkz. the 2012 edge should be included as a quick internet search shows i am not the only one with this issue. when you are driving 55-70 mph and the brakes randomly go soft it is a huge safety issue. this is not a constant occurrence, and it is hard for my mechanic to reproduce. it happens in all driving conditions, parking, highway, in town, when on/off the brakes or just hitting them to slow down on a highway. i have used my emergency brake to stop from hitting a car in front of me on a highway once, and my husband hit a bush when parking because of this. i reached out to ford, who was aware of my complaint, and was told there is no active recall, and to "be safe" this is unacceptable. either myself or someone else is going to get hurt.
