While parked in my home garage, about 3-5 min after turning off my vehicle, the back window exploded and shattered. the explosion was loud enough to be heard throughout the inside the house with the garage door shut. time was approximately 8:30 pm. prior to parking the car i had commuted approximately 7 miles from work. i did use the front and rear defrost for approximately 5 minutes of the commute, but had switched to normal auto temperature control for most of the drive. it was about 35 degrees outside.
The back section of the panoramic sunroof glass has developed a crack. no obvious external strike. the vehicle is parked inside in a tempered environment. when searching for glass replacement, i found a number of similar complaints.
Vehicle moon roof displaying stress fractures. not covered under warranty, has the probability to explode while driving. as a quick internet search will show you this is a known safety issue from the manufacturer who refuses to cover the cost or recall. i believe this to be a safety issue. i'm worried it will break while driving, and i have two small kids in car seats directly below where the cracks are. i do not have the money to replace, and this vehicle is less than 5 years old. there is no reason this should be occurring.
Booster brake defect. there is a recall but my vin # is not on the list. it should be. i had my car towed to the dealership for repair. the brakes delayed stopping my car. i could not drive it. my car vin should be added to the recall. i am going to have to pay for repair because it is not added to the recall list but the problem is there. i should not have to pay for this repair. if my vin is added later, will i be reimbursed ? when i press the brake the pedal is hard. the vehicle slows but does not stop when it should. if you pump the brake it sounds like the rotors sound when brake pads are bad. the car pops and scrubs, jerks to a stop. when coming up to a stop sign or red light the car takes longer to stop so you have to brake sooner. i took to dealership, parts where ordered to repair. still waiting to see if i have to pay!
Hello i have a 2015 ford edge titanium with the panorama sunroof and it cracked for no apparent reason! the vehicle only had 49000 miles when i purchased it and it cracked with me only have put a few thousand miles on it! i never open the sunroof and i had took it to the ford dealership i bought it from and the extended warranty will not cover it! i had taken it to a glass company to see if they could figure out why it cracked and they seem no impact marks anywhere. they said that the glass had failed from either heat or a imperfection in the glass. so i got online and was researching if anyone else has had the problem and there are a lot of people that have had the same issue! some people reported it having happened to them multiple times. thank you for reading this i believe something needs to be done to get this fixed right!
Wavy pattered cracks on the back panel of panoramic sunroof glass with no indication that something fell on it to cause the cracks. i was not in the car when it happened and do not leave my sunroof shade open all the time, so i cannot be sure exactly when the cracks happened. i leave the shade closed during the hot summer months.
The panoramic roof made a loud noise and then cracked in a curvy webbed pattern. thank goodness i wasn't in traffic or i may have caused an accident as it was loud and startling. i took it to ford dealership and my repair was denied because i am out of warranty. i have 46000 miles on my 2015 ford edge. i will have to pay for repairs myself. i contacted ford consumer affairs and was told to keep my receipt in case their was a recall. i voiced my concern over safety and disappointment that ford was not taking care of the issue. they said until their is a recall they won't. disappointing and scary.
Panoramic sun/moon roof cracked for unknown reason. car is garage kept, and crack appeared overnight
Our 2015 ford edge was parked in the yard of a non-profit. apparently something hit the window while a volunteer was mowing. when my husband returned to the parked car, the window looked cloudy, like it had condensation on it, even though it was mid-day. he touched it with his fingertip, and it fell into many tiny pieces down into the driver's seat. according to the company that replaced the window, which is a third party contracted by the local ford dealer, there was no lamination to hold the shards in place. we are fortunate no one was injured, but this incident calls into question the safety of the other windows in the car.
Appears to be two separate wavy cracks across rear roof panel. no indication of any strikes. same experience as many others have documented regarding cracks for no apparent reason. did experience failure when closing roof panel also.
While driving on the highway my car just turns off losing power!! in the middle of rush hour traffic. has happened 3 times now! very scary and unsafe!!!
Found my ford edge 2015 titanium panoramic sunroof cracked when reaching 78km. checked online and found more similar cases from other owners via https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t57175_ds687995
Takara recall i have had continuous issues with my 2015 edge with the doors becoming ajar. the first time i was stuck in below zero conditions, without being able to have my heart on close my doors or lock them. if that wasnt enough, i had to call a tow truck because my car battery died as a result of being able to close the doors. this has happened countless times and now again i have another issue but the lift gate is ajar. this time however the car is still driving. how can ford not recall this? you say it isn't a safety issue but i could have froze to death, been seriously injured when i'm driving and the door suddenly flies open. correct this. i will end up filing a lawsuit if anything happens again. i just bought this car a year ago. you cannot justify a $40,000 car not being able to open or close my doors or trunk. get it figured out or i will be contacting someone who will. i've been in support of ford since i was 16. you're about to loose a valuable customer and i'm about to spread the word how ford cant stand behind their vehicles.
The car keeps losing power while driving!! it flashes "full accessory power mode" and then completely loses power! this last time was mid turn into a strip mall with traffic coming. i thank god my daughter was not in the passenger seat! there is no warning or anything when this happens, it just quits! this is the 5th incident!! i looked online and sooo many people have had this happen just like us at various points throughout ownership and no dealership can duplicate the problem so ford says there is no problem! there is a serious safety problem! a car in great shape regardless of miles cannot just stop! what if someone dies??!!
Nothing yet
Vehicle was parked on 09/29/18 with no cracks. upon opening the cover to the vista sunroof on 0.9/30/18, both front and back panels had developed long wave like cracks between the layers of glass. there is no indication of impact to the panels. a pen track test was performed with no findings of any impact points. this appears to be a defect in the material or manufacturing process as these cracks appear to be stress related and not impact related.
Spontaneous 30 inch crack to the front panel of the panoramic sunroof. concern for defective glass.
Lost antifreeze..no leaks..2 qts week..holds 21psi test one hour..overheated one time while idling in drivway
While driving my vehicle between 45 and 60 mph on city streets and rural highways, received a message on my screen stating "the usb device is consuming excessive power. it may not work correctly with sync."; but, this is the same device i've been using plugged into the same usb port ever since i bought this vehicle on 07/07/15. i couldn't get this message to clear; but, soon afterwards this message appeared "navigation fault. please see the touchscreen" and the touchscreen showed this message "insert nav sd card"; but, my nav sd card which is an a8 was inserted. soon after this message appeared the screen went completely dark before it began "performing scheduled system maintenance". my vehicle was originally in the shop for this same issue on 07/19, 08/02 and 08/04. during the 07/19 visit the following corrective actions were taken by the dealership: s154 diag, power reset and apim update to software level 15128. follow-up visit 08/02 included the following corrective actions by the dealership: s154 diag, apim power reset and master reset. will have to wait until monday, 08/07 to hear back from the dealership regarding recommended actions to resolve this ongoing issue.
As we slowly backed out of our garage, we looked up and saw a long crack in the sunroof. we remembered reading in consumer reports (dec. 2017) that larger sunroofs have shattered and the article specifically mentioned ford edge. we immediately closed the shield in case it shattered and drove to the ford dealer.
My sunroof cracked all on its own. i see there are several other people that have had this happened when i researched this online. my vehicle was in park and i heard it crack then looked up and saw the crack in my sunroof.
The sunroof of my car cracked. i keep my car in a garage and do not drive it to work as i am retired. nothing fell on my car or hit my car. one day, i opened the cover on the sun roof while the car was stationary, and it was cracked. i have since read that the ford edge has a higher than usual number of complaints of cracked sunroofs.
Known problem with many ford edge power rear lift gates. the power gate will not operate with remote, interior release, or exterior release buttons. also, cannot be released from inside either. potentially, trapping someone in rear storage and unable to get out. vehicle was stationary anywhere at any given time.
The driver's power window inexplicably and suddenly fails to operate. as a result, the driver's window will fail to open, close or quit operating leaving the window partially open/close. this problem occurs when the vehicle is in motion or stationary . . . . anywhere/anytime. during inclement weather, if the window is stuck open or partially open position, it becomes difficult to safely operate the vehicle.
I recently had a backseat passenger who noticed the panoramic sunroof was cracked. i do not know when the crack happened.
The exhaust smoke gets inside the vehicle, since new.
The tires on our edge are coming apart. they are hankook and aren't covered by any warranty or recall. hankook dealer tells me that they are coming apart because of driving on gravel. our roads are blacktop. all 4 tires look the same. pealing away from core of tire.
The exhaust smoke gets inside the vehicle, since new.
I purchased a certified used ford edge 2015 model in july 2016 at this dealership. on 9/10/17 while driving, i had a loss of power and some of the dashboard light lit up. i made to a parking lot, put the car in park and then it worked fine. then on 10/24/17 while driving to work through an intersection, i lost power again. i coasted through and pulled over. again, i was able to put the car in park and then it worked. i called gilbert baugh and they said i needed to bring the car in. i took the car to the dealership on 10/28/17. i explained what had happened and ask them to look at the car. later the guy came to me and said they drove the car and didn't have any problems but they tried to reset the computer and there was a glitch and they can't get the car to crank. they said i would need to leave the vehicle. i left the vehicle and then they called 10/30 and said that the computer was bad and that i would need to replace it, and it wasn't covered under my powertrain warranty. i questioned them on this because the car was drivable when i took it in. i called 11/2/17 and the computer was not in yet. they called on 11/3 and said they received the computer and put it in but that the car was doing the same thing, would not crank. i called them again a few days later and they thought maybe there was a problem with their computer they were using to program and had contacted ford for assistance. again, i waited to later be told that new software will need to be written by ford to solve this problem. it has now been 5 weeks, my car is still in their shop and they are unable to provide me with an estimated time frame for repair. they said they are waiting for ford. i requested a buyback through ford, it was denied due to my car having approximately 55,000 miles on it.
This vehicle is leaking around the hand grip (drivers side) and leaking in the floor.
While driving, at times the sensors, l or r side will activate, with nothing close to the vehicle. i have driven out of my driveway , it come on or at an intersection, again with nothing around the car and the screen and bells go off as if something is close. it has been to the ford dealership twice and of course nothing.
After owning my car for only 16 months, the panoramic sunroof on my 2015 ford edge titanium cracked completely down the length as well as across the width of the entire roof. neither the car nor roof had not been struck by anything - it was very obviously a stress fractures. it was a warm sunny spring day, and the car had been just sitting in front of my house. when i drew back the sunroof shade, i saw the roof completely cracked side to side and front to back. i very carefully drove to my ford dealership. the service department insisted that a rock or something hit it and refused to do anything to help replace it. i had to have a body shop replace the sunroof and my insurance company covered remaining $800 of the $1300 cost after i paid the $500 deductible. my auto insurance has now gone up several hundred dollars because they considered it an "accident" which it was not! this is obviously a manufacturing defect which very worries me that the replacement roof will be also likely to break. there was definitely no impact but ford refused to acknowledge any responsibility - this is criminal.
Since i purchased the vehicle it has been making a jerking effect after it passes 1st gear to 2nd. the jerking effect seems to be coming from the motor. i took it to the dealer and the dealer said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. to this day it still has the jerking effect.
2015 ford edge mooonroof glass shattered for no reason at all. it was in the closed position and nothing hit it.
Within the last 6 months my rear gate has closed without any action by me. the first time it happened was 6 months ago. i was loading in the back of my edge and the rear gate started closing. it closed on my back and would not stop. i noticed it was not going to stop so i ducked real fast to get out of the way. i had a stiff neck for weeks. i went to pick up tile and they were loading it in the back and i noticed the gate starting to close and i yelled at the guy to duck and get out of the way. my wife was putting something in the back and i yelled to her to get out of the way. i have taken the vehicle to 2 dealers and each said no trouble found. this could be dangerous if a little kid was in the back when it was closing on its own since there does not seem to be any safety to stop it. the vehicle was off each time with the gate open each time.
Unlike other ford vehicles, the edge rear backup system activates only when the vehicle is approaching an object at less than 3 mph or an object is approaching the rear of the vehicle directly. lateral movement is not detected. also, stationary objects directly behind the vehicle within the vehicle,s warning zone are not detected unless the vehicle is moving. within the first week of driving this vehicle, i tried to back up from a parking space. a pedestrian was walking directly behind the right rear of the vehicle. the vehicle started rearward and hit the pedestrian without any audible warning. the pedestrian continued to the right side of the vehicle, gave me a disgusting look and walked away i returned the vehicle to the ford dealer complaining about the backup system and we tested two other new edge's. they performed the same way. the owner's manual outlines the same backup procedure as i described above. the dealer explained that this system was new and only on the 2015 and beyond edge. i think this system is poorly designed compared to other ford vehicles. i also have a 2016 explorer with a rear backup system. an audible warning sounds every time something is within the backup zone i.e. standing still, lateral movement, approaching, etc. i would like to see some type of investigation into this matter. thank you
Extensive water damage. water is leaking into the car from an unknown area causing puddling on the driver side floor. water can be heard swishing from underneath the car. a notice was sent to dealers to fix the issue before the cars were sold, it appears that they did not fix the issue prior to selling me the car and is now refusing to pay to fix it due to the fact that i am over the warranty period.
On 10-18-2016 our edge lost all power on a residential street; speed reduced to 2 mph. we drove home; the vehicle was towed to dealership, & the electronic throttle body was repaired. on 11-15-16 the same thing happened, but this time we were in dallas on highway 289 in an interior lane at 55 mph. we slowed to 2 mph, but reached a parking lot. ford dealer then replaced the throttle body and motor assembly. ford knows of the throttle issue, and only replaces it after the second malfunction. this policy puts all edge drivers at risk and should be changed to replace them immediately.
I encountered a sudden and inexplicable problem with my vehicle that involved the loss of the ability to accelerate. . . while i was in traffic on a busy road. the gear shift was still in the drive position when the incident occurred requiring me to drift into a driveway/parking lot, narrowly averting an accident. the vehicle stalled without warning while driving 25 mph. after restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation. the failure recurred on a separate occasion. i googled this problem and it seems a lot of people having the same problem
I ford edge has a bumping sound on the passagner side. it was a brand new vechile. but it made this noise. come to find out after it broke down the throttle body and power train. i was told by the dealer that their was a recall by fcc said their was no recall. fcc would not buy the car back. the dealership did "fix" it but what really is a fix ( a patch) which means it will break down again. the car would not crank or make any noises! it just stopped in a parking spot.
While driving on the freeway the car completely turned off three times. the message which appeared was "hill start unavailable". we had it towed to the dealer. we were told it was the throttle and told that they could not guarantee that it would not happen again.
4 days ago i started my vehicle and put it in drive and it would not move. the engine icon came on and the message said something about "power accessory ", it did not last long enough for me to read it. the same thing happened again today as i was driving in reverse out of a driveway that was on an incline. i lost all power and had no control of the vehicle. it was very scary. again the power accessory notice flashed. both times i had to turn the vehicle off and restart and it was fine. i only have 1400 miles on this vehicle and bought it with 600 miles on it about a month ago. this is crazy.
The vehicle was parked, i opened the shade to the vista roof to find the large panel cracked in several locations for no apparent reason. there was no point of impact, the vehicle had not been in a hail storm, etc. we were concerned it would shatter, we were not at home at the time this was discovered, we drove directly to the ford dealership, they stated it would be covered under the standard warranty but it would need to be ordered. we covered the glass with carpet mastic to prevent shattering until a repair could be done.
Ford edge shut down while driving on highway. message on dashboard appeared with this warning: full accessory active. it has happened a few times this month. this could be tragic!
The door seals are not working. we have white particles and road dirt inside of the vehicle since the day we started driving it. we are getting headaches and coughing a lot if we are in the vehicle for more than a few minutes.
From the date we bought our ford edge we have had white particles, dust and dirt coming in from all of the door seals and rear back hatch. the white particles are all through the vehicle. there is a brown dust or dirt on the top of the passenger seat and rear passenger seat and on the head rests for both seats. the dirt and dust makes me cough a lot, ( no one has ever smoked in the car ). it feels like we are inside of a vacuum cleaner disposable bag. we believe none of the seals on any of the doors work properly. when we first got the car, a burning smell was coming from the passenger side of the vehicle. a new exhaust system was put on the car a month after we bought it. that problem with the burning smell went away. we were told by the fourth dealership that we took the vehicle to that all the seals on the doors and back hatch would have to be replaced, but that never came about. so here we sit with all the white dust and dirt. we believe the cabin filters are not working. so the dust and the dirt are also coming in through all of the vents in the vehicle.
2015 edge sport. without warning car stalled with warning "full accessory power active" was stalled in very busy street on which many accidents occur. got car started again stalled again with same warning had to be towed to dealer. looked on internet as well as this site and saw same thing happening to others hopefully no one has to die before ford fixes this .
While driving my brand new ford edge the "full accessory power active" warning indicator light came on and the car shut down. this has happened twice since i bought the car. has been in the shop for 4 days and no one can tell me what is wrong. both times the car has shut down, i am able to drift off to the side of the road, put it in park and restart it and drive as normal. i am scared to drive the car for fear of it stalling mid intersection or while i am pulling out in traffic.
Vehicle sold in august 2015 without recall issue-15b21 water seeping through the a-pillar areas being addressed prior to sale of vehicle. ford released this notification to dealerships in june 2015 that the issue must be correct prior to sale. the service issue of 15b21 was not repaired and nor was i notified by the manufacturer or the dealership where the vehicle was purchased. the beginning stages of the water damaged caused by this issue are: remote start failing to operate, right headlight, remote unlock and powered drivers seats intermittently working, smell of mildew and soaked floor carpets, also frost appearing inside every window of the vehicle.
On january 4, 2016 the vehicle entered a safe mode in the middle of traffic. without notice, while in motion and in the middle of traffic, the vehicle shut down; deployed the emergency brakes; and attempted to dial 911. it nearly caused an accident in the middle of a busy intersection. we promptly took the vehicle to the dealership, where they said the issue could not be replicated. the regional representative at ford customer service stated that if the issue could not be replicated ford would not be able to do anything else. the vehicle is brand new, with around 3000 miles. we are concerned about the vehicle and ford's unwillingness to address the issue.
