My driver door ajar light stays on and will not lock the doors even though it is clearly shut completely. this allows the dome light to remain on also. after several times of opening and shutting it finally registers that it is closed. had my mechanic look at it he cleaned it and lubed it which cleared it for a day but is doing it again. looks like it needs a whole new door latch. i have found many complaints about this same issue but no recall from ford. this has been happening for approx. 1 month but has gotten progressively worse.
The door ajar light is on at all times when the door is door is shut. the dome lights are on when driving and frequent flashing lights on the dash warn that the drivers door is ajar when it is not. this is a hazard when driving and very distracting. this started here and there on 2/29 and is constant since 3/7. the mileage of the car is around 65,000
27500 mileage stationary and in motion interior light will not go out, driver door light ajar when stationary and in motion, interior lights come on when vehicle is in no motion and keys are taken out ignition , engine light on when stationary and in motion
Drivers door ajar light stay illuminated in the instrument cluster and dome lights won't shut off. had had it to dealer 2 times in the last year and problem would be resolved for 2 months and then would happen again.
Driver side door ajar sensor stays on all the time even though the door is closed securely. this causes the vehicle not to be secured properly during operation and causes faulty annoying alerts to sound intermittently while driving. it also causes interior dome lights to stay on causing a dangerous obstruction to vision while driving at night. when parked with the engine off, the interior lights will stay on and drain the battery.
My 2013 ford edge door latch incorrectly reports that the door is open when it is not. this turns the interior lights on and drains the battery, also will not let you turn on the alarm or lock the doors from the inside. constantly chimes and tell you to put in park to shut door.
Door ajar indication does not go out when door is closed. the interior light will not go out and the doors will not lock.
The driver door sensor (when the door is shut tightly and secured) keeps turning interior lights on while driving in the dark! this is a safety issue. guess what else happens? my doors will not lock because of this sensor. that is another safety issue on the opposite side of the safety spectrum. if this occurs both driving and while car is not in motion, how does ford value the safety of their customers? hopefully by taking that this should be recalled and make their customers happy. this is disappointing, as well as frustrating because it is happening every single day.
Driver's side door open light keeps coming on. shift to park light keeps coming on. lights come on while you are driving or just parked. interior lights don't go out when they should. inside lights go on when the car is just parked for no reason. sometimes will stay on for up to a half an hour.
When you close the driver side door the instrument panel gives a false warning saying the door is ajar and the dome light stays on. this happens when the car is stationary. after several attempts of opening and closing the door the warning disappears, but then while the car is moving the warning returns and the dome light comes back on and the doors unlock. this seems to be a pretty common problem and my car currently has 48,000 miles on it. this warning issue has been going on for about 1 month.
Driver's side door ajar light stays on. maybe one out of ten door closures will turn off light. as a consequence interior dome light stays on and drains battery. problem occurs when vehicle is stationary but continues when vehicle is in motion.
Door ajar warning light stays on even after door is closed. interior lights stay on even after door is closed. door sensor issue. almost wrecked when interior lights came on while driving-the door sensor light came on without the door being opened. we took the vehicle to the ford dealer and they said they could not find the issue.
The door ajar warning light comes on after the door is closed on the driver's side- the interior lights stay on- car is stationary, but lights stay on if you drive
Driver door ajar sensor remains on when door is closed. when driving, front interior lights remain on and the doors will not lock from inside.
Sensor on the rear driver's side door is defective, causing the doors not to lock, and the interior lights not to go off when it is locked. this ultimately drained the battery and left my wife stranded.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. the contact stated that an unknown front door latching mechanism failed to properly register that the vehicle door was closed. as a result, an internal warning message informing the contact to put the vehicle in park and close the door displayed. in addition, the contact stated that the warning message chimed until the vehicle was placed into the park position. the contact further stated that when the vehicle was stopped and turned off, the interior light failed to function properly and shut off causing the battery to be drained. the vehicle was taken to be diagnosed where the contact was informed that the door lock mechanism needed to be replaced. it was unknown if the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 55,000.
Door ajar light stays on,we have to open and close it several times to get the lights to go out when the car is turned off, when the car is on it causes the warning chime to constantly sound.
When shut, the door does not register as such. i have had to open/close it several times before the "door ajar" signal goes off. this issue has been progressively worsening, and now i believe the 'sensor' has completely failed. the door shuts, locks, and arms the alarm, yet the dome light and ajar symbol continue to stay on. ford has told me this is a "wear and tear" issue that they will not cover! i have seen this issue affect many ford models between 2001-2015 but more prominently when it comes to the edge. i got the vehicle 08/2015 and this issue started occurring intermittently by 12/2015; now, this is occurring each time i have to open the driver door.
When taking a left or right turn onto another road, there is absolutely no illumination to the side during the actual turn until completed on rural roads with no lighting. the experience is like turning into a black hole until front wheels are back straight. road sides with adjacent ditches or anything in the road like people or animals will not be seen, a very dangerous situation. low beam illumination is not that good under normal circumstances; it like driving with two very narrow beam fixed flashlights. last week i almost missed a turn on an unfamiliar road by just missing running into a ditch close to the roadside at its' intersection.
Driver's side door ajar light will not always go off when door closes. this causes interior lights to remain on going down the road and at night causes driver to not see as well. also, doors will not automatically lock when door sensor doesn't work correctly which is worrisome in some parts of town. many times dome lights may stay on for hours when door shows to be ajar. this of course causes battery to run down which has required battery to be replaced. please help as i now know there are many ford owners who will not purchase or recommend any ford to family or friends.
My door sensor on the driver side passenger door light stays on when the door is completely shut. so the dome light stays on. also when you are driviing the doors don't lock. i just purchased this vehicle this past october. it was good for about 2 weeks then the door sensor started going on and off. now it is staying on all the time.
Door ajar light will not go off on drivers door (front left) when starting vehicle. when turning off vehicle dome lights will not go off both instants i have to continue to open and close door and play with the lock until the door ajar light or dome lights goes off. i have read that this is a big problem that ford does not recognize.
I was driving my friend and her 9yr old to the store, my door lock sensor was not working and said door ajar so i was unable to lock the doors in drive i tried and they whould just unlock. my friends child was able to open the door while i was going 45mph she could have fell out. this door ajar problem has been happening off. the dome light stays on and im unable to lock the doors. i just bought the car used so its not under warranty. it is a huge saftey issue and i guess after reading the hundreds of complaints about the same issue that nothing is going to be done untill there is a death instead of trying to avoid one. also i heard the police version of the explorer had a similar problem and ford recalled it right away why not the consumer it seems like they dont care about the consumers safety. please help before someone actully gets hurt.
Door ajar warning comes on, even when door is shut. this prevents the doors from locking and they can only be locked manually, the dome lights will never go off and eventually the battery dies, and the ac will only blow cold on 1 setting. it will not blow heat. the keypad will not let the vehicle lock when the warning is on. this happens when the car is moving or stationary, and intermittently. sometimes it doesn't happen, sometimes i have to shut the door 20 times to get it to lock properly with the lights off.
Door ajar light comes on, overhead lights stay on, doors will not lock, says shift to park after stopping & starting again.
The driver door ajar sensor is malfunctioning causing multiple problems. doors don't lock automatically when in motion. it causes cabin lights to remain on once driving lights are on creating visibility issues. this also causes some of the door locking options to malfunction. when driving or stopped it generates false alarms or warnings.
Left rear door ajar warning message stays on, even when the door is closed. the interior/dome lights stay on while driving, even at night time, so it is hard to see to drive. the dome lights stay on as even after the car is parked and turned off. the doors do not lock while we are inside our vehicle. this is a huge safety issue for myself, and my growing family. for one, not being able to lock the doors to keep ourselves protected and safe inside our vehicle has me very concerned. this vehicle is suppose to be our family car that i feel safe and secure in with my spouse and children. also, driving at night while the dome lights continue to stay on prevents me from seeing everything properly at night. i seriously fear for the safety of my family while driving this vehicle this way. this is our family car that needs this door latched replaced due to a faulty latch. please, send out the recall. help me protect my family and those around me from any accidents that may happen due to this faulty door latch. i hope this reaches some one who can help prevent my family from any accidents, and who will help others stay safe that have this vehicle problem. thank you for reading my cry for help. *tr....updated 10-27-15 *bf the consumer stated when the door was locked. the alarm kept going off, because the system was detecting the left rear door was opened. also, the interior lights kept coming on for a while, and eventually they went out. they would come on periodically since the system sensed the left rear door was ajar. updated 01/15/16.*jb
Dome lights, ajar light other dash board lights stay on when i get out of the car. i can lock or not and they will stay on and drain my battery. i sometimes take 5 minutes opening and closing doors and locking/unlocking vehicle before it will go off. also while traveling the dome lights will come on and at night i have to stop or have a wreck. very dangerous situation why hasn't ford done something about this. will never buy a ford product again especially when they will not recognize the problem with a recall
Right before our 3 year warranty expired the "drivers door ajar" warning light came on. we checked it out and other items and all seemed to be ok. one or two days later it came on again and cleared when we shut the door several times. now 8 days out of warranty it seems to come on almost all the time and won't clear. also, the dome lights stay on too. i called the dealer and said it would cost me $125 bucks to diagnose plus repair. he said i could call ford. i called ford and spoke to kevin who created case # cas7689552, but got disconnected. his statement was to bring it in to a dealer and then they would decide what they would do for me after inspection. i really thought ford would just fix this. i then called back and spoke to kendra who was nice but same thing. i asked her what she thought i could expect and she said in the best case i would be responsible for a portion of the bill. i looked online and saw one guy take the whole door off to fix and another who cleaned for a temp fix. there were a lot of other people reporting same problem. this has to be an engineering flaw and ford knows this. it is also unsafe to drive after dark with your inside dome lights on and your door chiming. please get a recall on this! i don't know what to do yet but i cannot afford a $500 repair bill on something so stupid as this. shame on ford.
At first i noticed that even though the door behind the driver was properly shut the door ajar light was still on it was for a few days until now the interiors lights now won't go off when i leave the car and activate the alar.
Driver side door will shut, but inside will show "ajar" with all dome lights on. after numerous times (20+) of opening and closing the door, it will sometimes finally close to stop showing ajar and lights will turn off. in my opinion, this is a safety hazard if driving at night as i've experienced already once with my door not willing to close properly at night, and having to drive with all dome lights on (huge issue). went to a ford dealer that says they will run a diagnostics test to see what's wrong, but there are hundreds if not thousands of complaints already on-line of people having the same issue and this still hasn't been addressed by ford for a recall. many are saying the costs are from $250-$500 for repairs to get it fixed. for a 2 year old car, this should not be happening!
Door ajar warning comes on when the door is shut due to faulty sensor in drivers side front door. interior lights stay on causing a hazard to driver at night.
Drivers door ajar light remains on even after door is shut, causing dome light to continue to stay lite. info states shift to park whenever come to stop.
Driver door ajar notification, dome lights and mirror lights stay on. comes on when driving. dont always know if the door is closed properly or not. took it to dealer they temporily stopped it, then it started again.
2013 ford edge driver door sensor remains ajar, i close the door more than 7 times for the inside light to turn off. while driving the sensor will turn on and doors will not lock.
Door ajar light stays on when door is closed interior light stays on inability to lock doors when inside faulty latch
A constant driver door ajar alert when the door is not ajar. will try to close the door multiple times and still get the same alert. the interior lights will not go off because of the message. this causes a safety hazard because the driver will not know if their door is ajar or not. the interior lights will remain on and this causes the battery to wear out much faster than normal and can cause a very serious hazard for the driver at night. *tr
The driver door ajar alarm started going off, and the doors unlocked while the car was moving on the interstate. it has now happened several times both while driving down the road and when getting in the vehicle. now, the dome light and outside marker lights remain on and drain the battery when the vehicle is in park because the sensor isn't reading that the doors are closed.
My 2013 ford edge suv is in the ford shop as i write this ? it's been there since friday, due to a latch issue ? which is a ford part malfunction. (a bad part) a part that will not last and may need to be replace again.. i google it friday and saw there are so many complaints on the part, i don?t understand why it?s not recalled or the ford company i bought it from can?t just replace it. ford wants $484 from me to replace this part, i am so upset. plus they have had my car for three days. ? after this i am done with fords!!! my first new suv, my first ford purchase and it?s already in a shop, due to a part that was not a good part to start out with. if you guys want to buy this suv from me, make me an offer. i am not a happy customer. ready to go to toyota or a honda. *tr
The "door ajar" light comes on even though the door is properly closed. doors will not lock while car is in motion. dome light will not turn off when car is stopped. the problem began two weeks after the car came off of warranty and has been doing this intermittently ever since.
Door ajar drivers side will not go off, lights remain on, unable to get them off. inability to lock doors, dome light remains on causing night driving hazard, false door ajar prevents driver from knowing real door ajar situation
Door ajar warning and door chiming. if door does not close properly lights stay on draining battery leaving owner stranded with dead battery. while driving door chiming constantly going off distracting owner while driving. problem happens while driving and while parked
It started over the past few weeks. start the car and the door ajar light comes on and stays on regardless is i open and close the door harder. put the car in gear and you have the warning lights to put the car in park. the door locks will not lock during one of these episodes and the dome lights stay on. i also lock my car doors at night only to find that they have unlocked themselves during the night and my heads lights have turned on as well. this has happened about 6 times. not very happy right now!!!! *tr
Drivers side door keeps stating it is open when it is closed. continues to stay on until multiple closures of the door.
The door latch sensor doesn't seem to be working. the door is closed but is says it's not. i can not lock the doors and my overhead lights stay on and the battery will die. i've taken it into the dealership before and they say the sensors are dirty and they cleaned them, but it didn't fix the problem. it happens at all times (stationary or moving)
Door ajar sensor light comes on when door is closed, it takes up to 3 to 5 times to close door for the light door ajar sensor light to go off. *tr
The door latch on the 2013 ford edge is faulty, and continually has to be replaced. this is the second time in 6 months we have had to have this replaced, and this time, we are 3000 miles over our warranty, and are having to go out of pocket for this - an expense of over $300. additionally, because the door latch doesn't work correctly, it continually causes the interior lights of the cart to stay on, which has caused the battery to deplete, and we are now facing the charge for a new battery as well in order to get our vehicle in working order. lastly, ford informed us today that the factory battery that they installed is "too small" for this size vehicle, and a larger capacity battery should be put in its place. we purchased this car new, and issues like this make us feel as if we've purchased a lemon. ford is now charging us for a part that is clearly poorly manufactured, and as a consequence, causing us to buy additional parts like batteries to support their mistakes. *tr
The sensor on the driver's side door to detect door closure malfunctions repeatedly and does not register that the door is closed even if the door latch is in proper position. this creates a significant safety hazard in that the doors cannot be fully locked (significant crash safety risk) while driving or stopped at a stoplight (personal security risk, remains able to open door from the exterior). this is a recurrent problem and from encounters with other owners, this is consistent across these vehicles and recurs even if the part if replaced. this is in validation of fmvss no. 206 requirements. *tr
My 2013 edge is new within the past 2 years and it is currently under lease. the door ajar notification is being triggered constantly which in turn affects other mechanisms or electrical systems in the car. the inability for the driver side door to close triggers cab lights, the door ajar lights, and the locking of doors. these issues can occur while stationary/parking and at various speeds while driving...at night and during the day. the cab light being on at night is the most dangerous from a driving standpoint, because it affects visibility to a point of wanting to try and open and shut it at high speeds. i don't know if having the cab light on while it is parked is enough to drain the battery or even how long the cab light even stays on, but unfortunately i'm going to probably learn this the hard way and be stranded. also, there is definitely a risk of having items stolen from my car. *tr
Door latch sensor won't register that the door is closed. this means the dome light stays and is unsafe for night driving.
