Problems with 2013 Ford Edge VISIBILITY/WIPER

On average, the 2013 Ford Edge starts to “feel” problems with the VISIBILITY/WIPER and its various aspects after 63 665 miles.

Recently reported VISIBILITY/WIPER problems on 2013 Ford Edge

While driving on hwy 2 in wenatchee, wa at 5pm on october 2, 2019 my sunroof exploded. the sunroof was closed at the time. there were no overpasses or cars near me when this happened. the weather was partly cloudy and around 72 degrees. i was driving approximately 60 mph.

No set time the brakes fails. goes to the floor instead of stopping and it doesn't matter what rate of speed you're traveling. even after thinking ford fixed it i almost got into an accident because the brakes failed. ford fixed it by doing a flush, cost charged me a lot of money for nothing or they don't know what they're doing.

The rear wiper stays on even though the switch is in off position. it happens while the vehicle is in motion and while stationary.

The windshield wipers on my ford edge stay on at all times when the vehicle is turned on. this caused my windshield wiper to fly off and break. this is a safety hazard and very disturbing while driving. i had to put a towel on the metal part to go back home to keep the metal from scraping and ruining my windshield.

The wipers randomlyturn on when switch is in off position

Driving on interstate highway at 70 miles per hour on straight level and smooth section of highway when a sudden loud explosion occurred, and glass could be heard falling. driver stopped to assess damage. glass had shattered around the perimeter of the stationary portion of the panoramic sunroof. there was no flying road debris at the time of the incident. there was no apparent evidence of impact. this appears to be either a problem with the manufacturing of the glass or the way in which it is attached to the vehicle. temperature was near freezing and warming.

Rear door sensor will not go off, results in dome light staying on running battery down. wipers will not shut off

The door adjar stays on while driving leaving light dome on causing visibility problems at night. when i get home i always have a hard time closing my door for the light dome to turn off. my battery already died had to buy a new battery and the car was purchased brand new in 2013! a battery should not die that soon! all because this door adjar. please have this recalled. also. i had this problem fixed for a minute when i took the car to get checked at ford when it was still in warranty! they fixed it for the time being but it started to happen again. and my warranty is over!

The door ajar switch is not working correctly, my interior and exterior lights stay on after i lock the doors, the door ajar chime rings the whole time i'm driving. this impedes visibility, attention, and could have adverse safety consequences.

My wipers constantly swipe

Door ajar light stays on even when door is closed. this keeps dome lights on and side mirror lights along with the doors not locking which is a secure/safety issue. also the fact that the dome light can blind the driver at night and this runs the battery down. ford dealerships say its a known defect for new and used vehicles and i opened up a case with ford and they refuse to offset the costs to fix it. they just say keep your receipt in case they ever do a recall. there is a petition on line because it affects so many people. ford needs to address this to avoid lawsuits! its a burden to consumers because the cost to fix is over $500 at a dealership. this happens when stationary and in motion. my wife and baby almost ran off the road because the light won't go off at night and blinds her view. plus it has left her stranded at work with a dead battery. see link for details. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rlmgeehq38

Door latch malfunction. door is properly closed but sensor doesn't communicate to computer. dome lights stays on, door ajar warning- drains battery when not being driven. doors will not lock/stay locked when vehicle is in motion. poor visibility when reversing in the dark as dome light stays on and reflects on windows. online research shows this is a very common problem with this vehicle- it is a safety issue that the doors will not stay locked when the car is in motion

Door ajar drivers side will not go off, lights remain on, unable to get them off. inability to lock doors, dome light remains on causing night driving hazard, false door ajar prevents driver from knowing real door ajar situation

Rear windshield shattered completely for no reason. there was no apparent external factor involved. *tr

2013 ford edge with 30,000 miles on it. door ajar alarm and light come on after vehicle is underway. overhead lights come on blinding driver at night. lights and switch remain on despite repeated attempts to slam door while driving. smell of gasoline while idling indicates fuel leaking from system posing fire hazard. defective parts create dangerous situation for driver and passengers.

Purchased my 2013 ford edge in august 2013. car has 9300 miles on it. last night the car was parked outside for 90 minutes. when we got back to the car, we noticed the back window was shattered. the window did not look like anything had hit it. the window shattered outward. if something had it the window, the window would have shattered inward into the car. when we left the car the outside temp was 77 when we got back to the car 90 minutes later, the outside temp was 70. so as near as we can figure out the window just shattered on its own. *tr

Door ajar light comes on when door is obviously closed. it can take up to 10-15 slams to get the light to go off. annoying alert tone goes off until it's closed and dome light stays on. also, car will not lock if door does not register as closed. this problem has persisted for over a year, but oddly goes away during the winter months. just now, my windsheild wipers won't turn off. i don't know if these issues are related, but it all seems electrical in nature.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. the contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph the chrome on the steering wheel was blinded the driver and passengers vision. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who recommended she tint the windows. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 2,000. *tr

A crack developed in the lower left corner of the windshield (could have been started by a rock strike). every time the defrosters were run (it was very cold weather), the crack would spread. it spread all the way to the opposite right corner in less than a week. *tr
