Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. the contact stated that there were was a strong burning odor inside the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that the carburetor and the fuel line needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v682000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000. updated 4/15/15*cn

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. the failure occurred intermittently at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, where the technicians replaced the accelerator pedal sensor. after the repairs were performed, the vehicle continued to stall and would not restart. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the mechanic stated the fuel pump and fuel tank needed to be replaced because the fuel pump melted a hole into the fuel tank, which could have caused a fire. the fuel pump and fuel tank were replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. while driving 10-20 mph, the contact heard banging noises coming from the fuel tank. the dealer stated that the baffles inside the tank were not large enough to hold the capacity of the bag that holds the gas. the gas tank was replaced, but the new tank has not resolved the issue. the vehicle is currently at the dealer. the contact does not feel safe driving the vehicle because the bag could burst in the gas tank and cause a fuel leak. the current mileage was 2,100 and failure mileage was 900.
