Well this is been recalled. on other 2008 ford. edge but i think my 2008 ford edge should be in that recall i recently bought my edge from a used dealer all the safety issues and recalls my ford edge has my has all of the issues my ford edge went in for tire rotation and oil change when they returned my car i left the shop and then realized the front tire is vibrating when driven slowly and turns i called ford to ask if my car was one of the ones on the recall list for bearing recall and the said no i know this was not an issue till now and im afraid to drive my car due to this recall i feel my car should be included also of course the tranny is definitely not working correctly when also driving slowly it jerks terribly in to another gear. serval times i have avoided car accidents by having to brake abruptly cause the car to get stuck in that gear and me having to suddenly forcing the car to pull over to side of busy 5 o clck traffic and turn off car and restart it to engage the gears to the next one i have backed into my fence do to this sudden jerking without warning and have damaged my back bumper due to this issue and that my car is not been recall due to these issues. first time i buy american and first-time i hate my car now im stuck making payment on a car that has so many issues and un able to drive safely i making payment for the next 17 months for a car i cant drive and i will never buy american again also the brakes a grinding and squeeling and since i have abs brakes system shouldnt the warning light be warning me before they actually start sounding like grinding to pieces of metal together i feel my car should be one of the one that should get recalled for issues other cars have been recalled for the same issues and this started since 6/16 /2018 and has been everyday since and im also still waiting to get the air bag recall fixed its been over a year
In making a right hand turn, the steering wheel became uncontrollable and impossible to straighten out causing the vehicle to continue in its turning radius and crash into a sign on the sidewalk. the vehicle was transported to a salvage yard. i am of the belief that the ball joint failed. we have always maintained the car at ford authorized dealerships and even replaced the ball joints recently. this car has a propensity for failing ball joints. In making a right hand turn, the steering locked up preventing straightening of vehicle and causing driver to crash.
While driving on a city street at approximately 30mph, we drove over a standard manhole cover and there was an immediate banging noise above the front driver's side wheel and the section of the hood closest to the windshield was pushed up about 6 inches. we pulled over and could see the strut pressing up against the hood. the vehicle was towed to a mechanic shop where we learned that the entire strut tower had broken through the strut support due to a catastrophic failure of the spot welds that were connecting the upper strut mount cap to the vehicle body. the tow truck driver nor the mechanic had ever seen this kind of structural failure. we are grateful that we were not on the highway when this incident occurred, and we are eager for the issue to be looked into further to determine if this is a structural defect of the 2008 ford edge that could further affect our or other families' vehicle safety.

Had been noticing loud roaring sound from right rear of vehicle. drove from ohio to florida (1,000 miles) & got worse/louder... took it to local ford mechanic who informed known issue in these cars is the rear wheel hub assembly fails, once replaced just fails again. noise is incredibly noticeable and not just annoying but scary to me & any passengers. obviously a manufacturer's defect, ticked ford's not covering it. *tr
Noise coming from the right, rear wheel area at various speeds. sounds like a light rumble strip sound and a light squealing/grinding also. took it to a local mechanic who says the bearings are bad. ford needs to do something about this issue. it's seems to be an existing problem on these edges and recurring problems as well. *tr
Popping noise made from front driver side tires when turning left, at gear change transmission jerks, powertrain awd malfunction light came on , truck would not accelerate into 2nd gear loud grinding noise made, censor had to be replaced, popping noise still exist in left front tire
On saturday, november 16th. between the hours of 5pm and 7pm, while driving, we were heard a "popping" noise from the front of the car. we also noticed the windshield cracking and thought the noise was from the window cracking. when we arrived home, the car was in the garage sitting and we heard the car "pop" again. the same thing happened sunday while going to church and home. monday morning on the 19th, my wife parked in the school parking lot to attend a school meeting and when she came out, the hood was up and the front was popped up. we took it to the local ford dealer and they indicated that the strut tower failed. the mechanic indicated i would not be able to drive it because it was a safety risk. they were surprised that my wife was able to drive and glad that it did not totally fail. it was indicated that the metal on the frame of the strut tower fatigued and it caused the strut tower to pop up. i have pictures if anyone would like it. the vehicle mileage at the time of incident is an estimate. it may be a little less. *tr
While driving my 2008 ford edge, a roaring type noise comes from the rear of the unit. as you accelerate to noise grows in volume. at first it appeared to me as "road noise" i changed pressures in the tires and rotated the front to the rear. nothing changes. after researching the problem, it appears that it is the rear wheel bearings. according to ford the bearing hub and the rear suspension trailing arm/knuckle assembly must also be changed on the affected side. the trailing arm causes to much pressure on the bearings and wipes them out. also the wheels have to be re-aligned due to the installation of the new trailing arm. ford states that just changing only the bearing hub will cause the problem to happen again. if the bearing fails this could cause a serious accident with the potential of serious injury or worse to the occupants of this vehicle and anyone else as a result of this failure.this appears to be a possible problem with the design of the suspension system and not normal wear and tear. i purchased this vehicle used in late november 2012. as i drove it longer the noise in the rear has gotten louder and louder. *tr
Vehicle rolls when placed in park, vehicle rolls backwards on inclines while vehicle is in drive, rear bulb constantly burns out, strut and suspension failed. *tr
Rear wheel bearing failure, have to replace bearing and trailing arm. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 ford edge. the contact stated that the passenger's side rear wheel exhibited a loud roaring noise while the contact was driving at various speeds. the dealer replaced the rear wheel bearing twice however, the failure was not corrected. the wheel continued to make the loud noise while the contact drove at any speed. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 99,374.
2008 ford edge, right rear suspension system, needs rear controlling arm and wheel bearing replaced. noise from rear right of vehicle noted. had tires checked (referencing tread), rotated, and balanced. the business noted the wheel bearing malfunction/issue and advise to take to ford. contacted local ford dealership. per phone call, was advised this had been occurring on several edge vehicles. once taken to shop, confirmed and advised both the wheel bearing and the controlling arm must be replaced as one. advised back order for controlling arm, but not information available on how long it would take to receive. asked ford if safe to drive and was advise "yes, it is safe to drive; it just may be more noticeable/make more noise". incident date is listed as the date taken to tire shop. noise seem to appear approximately 1 to 1/2 months ago. *cw
Events leading up to failure: was driving car at a very slow rate of speed (less than 5 mph) making a right hand turn into a commercial shopping center. failure: upon making turn, i heard a "pop" noise. after trying to accelerate the vehicle, it would not move. i got out of the car and noticed that the wheel had become detached from the axle and was only attached to the vehicle by the strut. bearings had fallen out of the related components and the wheel was at approximately a 60% angle with the pavement (other wheel was fine and was perpendicular to pavement). correction of failure: towing truck responded and the vehicle is currently being serviced under the manufacturers warranty. initial report from the service team is that it is most likely manufacturer defect. i have been told that all parts related in accident will be replaced or refurbished to maintain 100% working order. *tr
