Headlights go out while driving
Our vehicle, a 2005 crown victoria used to transport blind and elderly. vehicle was recalled under campaign #15s39 to repair a potentially defective lighting control module. lights were working perfectly at time of recall. ford did not repair or replace module, but they instead bypassed a function of the module by hacking/splicing into the original wiring harness and adding an external relay. truly a band-aid. now, less then a year later. lights have failed completely. ford technicians blame faulty lighting control module. ford refuses to replace module, stating that the warranty part is working correctly, only the original (subject of the recall) part has failed. again, ford did not actually repair the car the first time, they only bypassed the lighting module. there is another recall on this vehicle involving the intermediate shaft for the steering column. i asked if they plan to 'fix' it by splinting with two popsicle sticks and rubber bands, then refuse to honor the repair when the original shaft fails. the customer service representative failed to respond.
While driving my headlights go completely off. the only thing that works are the park lights. i pull back on turn signal to engage the high beams. this is the only way i can see. when using high beams other drivers are flicking their lights at me but there is nothing i can do about it. i'm scared i'm going to wreck. i don't get off work until it's dark & i'm afraid i'm going to wreck. it happens with the lights on automatic or regular. it happens everytime i drive at night. it's getting worse every night.

I had my lcm recall fixed on my ford crown victoria at 98,000 miles, the day i picked it up everything seemed fine, and then i went to use my automatic headlight and they were still un-operable. my tail lights and my parking lamps also do not work after this recall work also. i have tried getting the ford dealership to call me back, and i cal everyday and they tell me they will call me the next day, and still nothing. now my car has 127,000 miles on it and they still have not fixed the problem, and ford says that it's out of warranty. how is a 3,000 mile recall warranty even remotely a good idea? i work 7 days of the week and i had to buy another grand marquis to drive while i wait for these sob's to call me after all this time, i very rarely drive at night and would have never noticed this if i had not went out to pickup my family member after 8pm.

Ford issued a recall for my 05 ford crown vic. the dealer that has my car for the recall is unable to fix the situation. the lighting control module they were trying to put in my car is for a car that has auto lamps. my vehicle by vin is not equipped with auto lamps, therefore the recall part they have will not work on the cars without autolamp option. to other people out there call a dealership have them check by vin if your car has auto lamp option if not, do not take it for recall. they have had my car for a week without the problem being fixed. they are going to put my old lcm back in my car tomorrow so i can have my vehicle. in the end my problem with lcm still will not be fixed, so my tail lights will still not be working. thank you ford for not being able to fix the problem that is your fault. the dealers did not even offer a loaner vehicle for my time.

While driveing at night my headlights went out i had to use ermergency flashers to safely see the road and to stop my car,.after a while my headlights came back on. i was on the highway at the time. i had the car inspected and was informed that the car had a defective light control module.i was also told the lcm controled all the lights on the car.i took the car to a ford dealer in olathe ks and was told the module was a recall item for that car.my son left the car there to be repaired, when the the car was ready my son had to pay 170.00 for for ford to replace 2 fuses to restore taillights the bad module had blown.paid the bill took car home, 2 days later taillights, turn sig and brake lights stopped working again. i returned the the car to ford to be repaired, the next day i was informed that fuse f23 was missing and when it was replaced it restored service to my lights. fuse f23 has no bearing on taillights turnsignal or stop lights .turn signals ,brakelights are on different circuits and cannot be protected by the same fuse.also ford is using the excuse that the recall only covers the headlight failure, it is my position that ford is responsbile for the module and the related repairs ie fuse replacement. it is obvious the tech failed to properly install the the plug into the module causing the tail, turn, and stop lights to fail after 2 days. and to add insult to injury i was charged another 59.09 for a fuse that had nothing to do with the problem. my daughter in law and wife both recieved tickets for driving with defective equipment.

I was driving at night and a car hit me in the rear. the other driver said he didn't see me since i did not have my lights on. i showed him that they were on but yet the tail lights were not. when i had a shop check for the problem, they said the fuses, bulbs and relays were fine. they said the problem is a common problem with this model and it is a lighting control module which costs over $500.they said ford has known about the problem but still has not recalled the item. when i searched on the internet, i find a ton of people reporting this problem. this could have easily caused serious injury and/or death to all involved. i am shocked at ford. *tr

Lights failed when driving down dark freeway, nearly drove off road, stopped car, heard click and lights came back on, but a few minutes later, went off again. as i drive down the road i hear a click and then they come back on, but more minutes they go off again, continual intermittent on/off. this occurs when the lights are in headlamp setting, or autolamp control, lights don't work when in this condition in high beams. fortunately they are working when held toward steering wheel in flash-to-pass, so have been holding the lights on this way for months. from what i've read, this is an ongoing continual problem with this vehicle. i'm surprised there have been no reports of accidents or death, but it's a hard issue to identify as it's inconsistent, and if someone was reported as 'loosing control of their vehicle', it could be loss of lights causing them to run off the road. read how to do a quick resolution by kicking the lcm under the dash, which sometimes does cause the lights to come back on. also, have seen a youtube video from a mechanic that shows how to solder on new relays to the computer panel, which fixes the issue for $15.00, which i've considered doing myself as a replacement unit is upwards of $400.00. this needs to be a recall issue!!! *tr
When exiting a local restaurant just as it was getting dark we found that the headlights would not go on either in manual or automatic mode. the only way we were able to see to get home, about ten miles on the highway, was to lift up the light lever and hold it up for high beams. if we released the lever it went totally dark. our local ford dealer found a failed light control processor to be the cause, and replaced same. this was an expensive part and with labor cost over $500. we felt that we were fortunate that the problem did not occur while we were on the highway. *tr

The headlights go out while driving with no warning. ford is doing nothing about this very dangerous and expensive repair. seems the problem lies with the welding that was done to lcm (light control module) but it is scary to be on highway and have no lights and no warning. now this warning about engine!!!!
Headlights go out without any warning. ford says no issues with this although it was written up in newspapers. they will not fix this very dangerous and expensive problem. the problem apparently comes from bad welding in the lcm (light control module) but its scary to be driving on highway and then have no lights. *jb

Multiple incidents of headlights suddenly going off. driving down the road suddenly no headlights. went to sisters ready to leave--no headlights--ready to leave for work in the morning before daylight no headlights. then an hour later lights back on. when my 3 year old grandson visits i do not trust the headlights enough to take him out. i chance going to work in the mornings at my full time job or when i leave my part time job at night. when i went to see about getting this problem repaired, i was told it will be quiet expensive for me to get it repaired. i feel with all of the complaints that i read online, that ford should consider this a recall and repair this at their expense. *tr

Driving from the airport in rockford, ill. - all headlights went out. fortunately, i was in the far right lane as was able to pull over. i was able to continue only by discovering that holding the brights/turn signal lever in, enabled the headlights to come on. i was truly fortunate, that no one got seriously injured as this was on a major highway. a recall needs to be issued immediately by ford to ensure that no one dies because of this!!!!! any thoughts?
