Horn,cruse control,and other functions on the steering wheel have failed when we were driving. unknown reason.
Experienced unintended acceleration. vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, with my foot on the brake. suddenly the engine raced, propelling my vehicle into the rear of the stopped vehicle in front of me, causing body damage to both. this was the fourth occurrence of the same problem, three while i was driving, once when my wife was driving, dating back to november, 2010. we were informed, by the one repairing the body, that he experienced the same problem when driving our vehicle into his shop. he can verify this occurrence. obviously, this is a serious problem, and it has already caused considerable stress and angst for both of us. the consequences could be most severe. to my knowledge there has been no recall relative to this problem, but i feel very strongly that it should be required. *tr
On 12/29/2010 [xxx]was driving her 2004 crown victoria (vin number [xxx]) when the car accelerated out of control. she immediately depressed the brake pedal and turned off the car. she then returned home. [xxx] her son then took the car out to check the problem. he reached a speed of 40 mph and took his foot off the accelerator and the car would not slow down until he depressed the brake pedal. we contacted ford at 800-392-3673 and was told to take the car to the local dealership courtesy ford in rome georgia. i spoke to a chris at courtesy ford (706-235-4453) in their service department and was told there would be a $79.95 to check for a problem. i told him that with all the recent problems with unattended acceleration problems there should be no charge to check this which[xxx] refused and i told him i would file a report with nhtsa. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 ford crown victoria. while driving between 55 and 60 mph with the cruise control activated, the vehicle began to decelerate. the cruise control would not reactivate. the contact stated that the automatic dimmer and heater fan stopped operating. the fuse only failed when the cruise control was engaged. the fuse has been replaced. the current and failure mileages were 60,000.
