Takata recall none repair from over a year ago on 3/12/2015 i first took my vehicle, 2003 dodge ram 3500, to sunland park dodge dealership on 950 crocket st el paso, tx 799222 (915) 584-9393 for the safety recall #p78 /nhtsa 14v-770, the passenger airbag inflator housing may rupture and was given a service #cbdzp403aa. i was advised that part needs to be ordered and i would be called for the repair. throughout the year of 2015, i called the dealership and the part did not come in. on 3/08/2016 i took in my vehicle for the same recall, of the passenger airbag inflator may rupture, but it now had a different recall #r26 /nhtsa 15v-312. this new recall number still indicated it was for the same problem of the passenger airbag inflator housing may rupture. i was advised by the service receptionist, catalina, that chrysler still has not made these parts. the service advisor, alex fernandez, confirmed only that they have not received the part. after bringing it to his attention that i first brought in the vehicle over 1 year ago for this recall of the passenger airbag inflator housing; he just shrugged his shoulders. my vehicle has been kept in excellent condition in both service and looks. i still plan on keeping this vehicle. this vehicle has been in the california coastal and texas coastal areas in exposure to high levels of humidity for several 6 to 8 months of the year.

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge ram 3500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 13v528000 (steering), 14v770000 (air bags), and 15v312000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repairs were not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to provide the parts to do the repairs. the contact had not experienced a failure.
On the date noted above i noticed a 10 inch long crack had developed on the passenger side front dashboard slightly to the right of center. in a collision where the front airbags are deployed, this will become razor sharp shrapnel causing severe injury or death. dodge refuses to do anything to mitigate this flaw, which they have acknowledged is due to dodge utilizing sub-standard materials when making the dashboards for the ram truck series. there are hundreds, if not thousands, of complaints regarding the cracked dashes in ram trucks from frustrated owners. its only a matter of time until someone is injured or killed when one of these dashes explodes like a grenade when the airbag goes off during a collision. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge ram 3500. the contact stated that the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v770000 (air bags) however, the dealer refused to honor the recall because the dashboard was damaged. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
The dashboard on my 2003 dodge 3500 quad cab had developed cracks which has split the dash into pieces directly in front of the passenger seat and directly over the passenger side airbag. the cracks and broken dash pieces will not allow the passenger side airbag to deploy properly in the event of a crash and not only will the airbag harm the passenger, the broken pieces of dash will be dangerous as well. this vehicle has been properly maintained, and is in good condition. the dash cracked and broke as a result of normal driving; the vehicle has never been in an accident. the dealer said that the vehicle is out of warranty and will not pay to replace the dash. not only will the airbag not deploy properly due to the cracked and broken dash and threaten the passenger, it could also deploy in a manner hazardous to the driver. this is a defect many 2003-2005 dodge 3500 truck owners have experienced and is widely discussed on internet forums. dodge 3500 2003 model dashboards should be recalled and replaced by dealers because the defective dashes installed by dodge are a high safety hazard for passengers and drivers as well due to the fact that they will not allow the passenger side airbag to deploy properly in the event of an accident. while i must include an incident date below this problem occurred and expanded over the course of 2010. *tr
2003 dodge ram heavy duty truck began to get crackes in dashboard around yr 2009 2 large cracks are now in dashboard. *tr
Safety issue 1..interior dash board first cracked, then cracked all over, then finally fell apart. the safety issue is pieces of the dash made up of plastic is breaking up in large sharp chunks when a bump in the road is encountered or jarring occurs. when going over a rr track a 5" jagged piece broke off and a small shard hit me in the eye. this issue is way more than cosmetic. i am the original owner and the dealer will not take any responsibility for this defective product. safety issue 2.. air bag light has been on for several years and intermittent. i received an air bag recall and i took the truck to the dealer for corrective action. after so called fix, the warning light was off for 1 day then came back on. the dealer states the recall has nothing to do with the warning lights. now i have a current 2nd air bag recall. i took the vehicle to the dealer, but they state they don't have the parts and will contact me. its been months ago and still no part. again they say air bag warning light is not related. safety issue 3... brake light warning and abs warning stays on all the time. paid $100 for them to troubleshoot and they say its a sensor on the rt front abs. i feel this is another safety issue.
Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle rear ended another vehicle while traveling 45 mph and the airbags did not deploy. the driver hit the steering wheel causing a bloody lip. the non-service dealer expressed that the airbags should have deployed. there was a police report taken.

Air bag did not deploy in a collision. another vehicle ran a stop sign, i t-boned the other vehicle with the front of my truck, yet air bag did not deploy. *nm
The dash is completely fractured and broken into shards of sharp hard plastic that should the takata airbag ever deploy will be propelled like shrapnel through the passenger compartment at explosive speeds. it's like driving a car with broken class covering the dashboard. this issue, the dash fracturing and splitting into pieces as a result of sun exposure and age seems to be a known problem on almost all of the online forums i went to to discover if this was unique to me. i cannot understand how such an obvious and common hazard experienced by so many, is allowed to persist.
