Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge ram 2500 quadcab 4x4 swb. the contact stated that while driving, the power steering failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the failure was associated with the recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 09v005000 (steering:linkages:tie rod assembly). the remedy was applied but did not correct the failure as the failure recurred within six months. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted who offered to file a complaint and stated they would be calling him back with additional information. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage 15,000 and the current mileage was 25,490.

We own 3 2006 to 2009 dodge ram pickups with the cummins diesel motors. all three of them have had tie-rod ends either break or fall off while driving. it is a miracle that all of the instances occurred at low speeds. when they break you lose complete control over the steering. i am nervous to continue driving these vehicles. the parts department at the local dodge dealer said they are having the same issue with several other vehicles of this same make and model. *tr

I just purchased a 2009 dodge ram power wagon 2500. i've been driving it for about 10-14 days now. (this is my 7th ram!) i immediately noticed a different feel in the steering wheel. when driving straight in the "12 o'clock" position, the steering wheel feels as though it not even connected to the wheels! there's no feeling of tension on the steering wheel, feeling as if the truck is driving on its own. then, when hitting a bump, the wheels want to jump in one direction, causing you to have to counter steer to regain tension on the steering wheel to enable you to control the wheels, and sometimes nearly causing you to loose control! for a truck of this caliber (and price!), the steering should feel definite and constant. my dealership performed service (march 12, 2009) to the tie rods due to a recent recall. didn't seem to make a difference at all. there has to be another issue or problem going on here. *tr
