Dodge ram 2500 "death wobble". *tr
The front end of 2006 dodge ram with 48,000 miles on it goes out of control when you hit a pot hole. the death wobble as it is called on you tube happened twice on a freeway coming home approx. 140 miles had there been other vehicles near there we may have crashed dodge knows there is a problem but wont fix it because they say it is out of warranty but come on 48,000 miles that's a defect not woreout. this pickup is used mostly on paved roads. *tr
I was driving a 2006 dodge powerwagon down the road between 60-70mph. after hitting a bump on highway or bridge overpass, major shaking and wobbling in the front end. known as death wobble. occurs everytime in the same spot and everytime at the same speeds. the first time it happened i was driving and hit an uneven part in the road and the death wobble occurred. violent shaking and i hit the bridge wall. called the dealer, they said the linkage had a recall. took it in. adjusted. still same problem. had all ball joint and tie rod ends replaced, all bushing, both shocks up front, steering stabilizer and alignment done. still the same problem. *tr
I have a 2006 dodge 2500 mega cab 4x4 and today i experienced first hand the famous death wobble at 75 mph. i hit a small pothole and the truck started shaking really bad. i slowed and it stopped. i have owned the truck for almost a year. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while having the vehicle examined for routine maintenance, he was informed that the upper and lower ball joints on both sides of the front end needed to be replaced. this was under warranty. approximately 19,000 miles later, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was again informed that the front ball joints needed to be replaced. this failure was not covered under warranty. the manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage 43,000.
2006 dodge ram 2500 4 x 4 mega cab death wobble. i've had the front end of my truck shake at speeds over 45 mph and turning left on any surface that has bumps. when you hit a bump the front of the truck shakes, the dash begins to shake and the truck feels like its going to fall apart. after slowing down to less than 15mph you may be lucky to get control. after the sixth time it happeded to me, i was driving on a highway going 55mph, making a left turn over an expansion joint in the highway, the front wheels, steering wheel and dash started to shake violently. my truck slammed of the side rail before i could get control. after calling dodge they told me i'm stuck buying a 2009 tie rod assembly, pitman arm, steering stablizer because they no longer made it for dodge ram 2500 4 x 4 trucks 2003 ' 2008 due to safty reason. (btw the new tie rod assembly is non-greasable / non servicable, so when a tie rod goes out, you get to replace the whole thing again.) i had to obvisouly get an alingment done after everything. all and all i have about 1000.00 bucks that im out and that doesn't include the repairs to the rear quarter panel, thanks dodge!!! :( boooooooo *tr
2006 dodge death wobble, when at speeds above 40mph, hit a bump and front end goes into a violent shake. dodge has a service bulletin about this issue but it cost over $2000.00. there are numerous articles about this situation all over the internet. there needs to be a recall from dodge before someone is killed. *tr
1. dodge ram "death wobble", truck shakes violently when driving and hitting any pot hole or bump. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle drove over a bump in the road and shook violently. the contact referred to the shaking as the death wobble. the contact replaced the tie rod and steering linkage, but none of the repairs remedied the failure. the failure mileage was 160,000.
At 70-75 mph when hitting a bump in the road the front of the truck starts to violently shake and pulls you into the other lane or off the road, it does not quit until you come to a complete stop. *tr
I have a 2006 dodge cummins with 44000 miles on it with the whole front end is now brand new. the problem with these vehicles is when you hit a bump or pot hole from 50 to 70 mph your truck gets a severe shake in the front end and can make you lose control and kill you or other people. also known as the death wobble. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the vehicle began to wobble on the front end. he noticed the problem when he hit a bump in the road driving over 70 mph. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that a new tie rod and new control arm needed to be installed. the contact had not spoken with the manufacturer and the vehicle was not repaired at the time of the complaint. the current mileage was approximately 37,200. the failure mileage was approximately 36,500.
2006 dodge ram diesel the infamous "death wobble" my personal experience was at just shy of 12000 miles take truck to the dealer nothing wrong that they can see. if it keeps happening bring it back . approximately 18000 miles still happening cannot find anything wrong with it. i take it back in talk to manager and i tell him that if you hit a bump at 55-60 that the truck violently shakes. they say try wheel bearings. i put 800 in wheel bearings still occurs. i call chrysler and they lead me on that they might fix it but to take in to the dealer for diag. i take it in and they say put a steering stabilizer on it and they wont participate in that so i put and new steering stabilizer on it and now it happens at 40-45 mph i am in the process of calling them back to let them know that the problem still exists and i am going to emphasize to them again that my wife and 2 yr old daughter are in the current driver and passenger of truck. this problem has caused other damage to the truck that they will not also fix. i told them that i don't want anything then a truck that i can drive on the highway or down any road. *tr
While traveling at highway speeds, hitting a small bump / pothole causes violent shaking of the front end. shaking stops only after the vehicle is slowed below 25 mph. keeping control of the vehicle during shaking is very difficult. have taken the vehicle to three different mechanics & dealer with no problems found. *tr
I own an operate a 2006 dodge ram 2500 diesel pick up truck; it has approximately 52000 miles on it. many parts of the front end are worn out and need to be replaced. i have experienced what is referred to as "death wobble" where the front end of the truck shakes and vibrates violently and highway speeds after hitting bumps in the road. this condition causes an uncontrolled state of vehicle operation and is very un-safe. i have spent a lot of money replacing poorly designed front end components of this truck and there are still more that need replacement. it has bad track bar bushings, bad tie rod ends, bad ball joints, and had a bad steering box replaced under warranty. dodge is aware of these problems and is turning their back on it by not issuing a recall. they have already changed the designs and updated the steering linkages on 2008 and newer dodge trucks. all of the components on the front end that are subject to wear are severely worn and only two tie rod ends have grease fittings. these happen to be the only two parts not worn out. i feel not having serviceable grease points on the parts is causing this premature wear along with the use of sub-standard parts, which are not designed to be used with a heavy duty diesel pick up trucks weight. these issues need to be brought to correction before someone is seriously hurt. i am lucky the times the truck has lost control in a shake that i didn't crash. please help, i feel with only 52000 miles on a 2006 truck that this catastrophic failure of a "heavy duty" front should not be happening. someone needs to step in and tell dodge they messed up. *tr
2006 dodge ram tie rod, broke knocking going bad have to replace dodge will not pay for it although they offer a up grade and have recognized there is a problem. hope it does not turn into a toyota type deal and many other i have talked or blogged are having same problem. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500 hd. while the contact was driving approximately 60 mph there was a loud noise coming from outside of the vehicle; and excessive vibration. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was detected that both front wheel bearings were loose. the technician recommended the vehicle be taken to an authorized dealer regarding a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 07v038000 (suspension: front:wheel bearing). the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the technician stated the vin was excluded from the recall. the contact stated the vehicle experienced similar failures as mentioned in the recalldefect. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the failure mileage was unavailable.
2006 dodge 2500 ram 4x4 death wobble - violent severe shaking left/right after hitting bump above 50 mph. skidded off highway and through median. *tr
Driving down the interstate/highway at speeds greater than 60 miles an hour, more of an issue when the cruise control is on and there is continuing acceleration. the truck began to rock back and fourth uncontrollably similar to other complaints on the website in which they refer to it as the "death wobble". i even had one instance about 2 months ago when the truck rear tires were lifted off the ground and went back in fourth between two lanes, a gentlemen was forced into the ditch, i approached the gentleman and he commented on the truck and the make and the fact he had heard that it was the dodge death wobble. i have contacted dodge numerous times about the incidents, the latest and greatest from the dealership i contacted blamed it on the state road conditions and there inability to maintain the roads my response to him was then why didn't everyone else's vehicle do that? no response, i even offered to take them on a ride but no one seemed to enthused about that. after investigating the comments on forums and everything eventually lead me here. i have had similar issues in over 20 occurrences i want to sale the vehicle but how do you from an ethical standpoint knowing the person buying the vehicle could possibly be in a box shortly there after. i'm curious to know how many people have died from this? *tr
There was no event leading up to a failure. it was noticed at inspection. both upper and lower balljoints had to be replaced at 51,000 miles. the old parts are not available. *tr
Violent shaking from the front of the pickup nearly causes crash. dodge tried to repair after first incident in september of 2008. internet blogs/forums calls this the "infamous dodge pickup death shake". *tr
Out of control bouncing of the front axle on a 2006 dodge ram 1500. we have replaced the tires and increased the tire pressure. i have been told by mechanics that the ball joints on these trucks are faulty and will need to be replaced. i have talked to multiple mechanics and dodge owners the problem is wide spread and known by the dealerships but chrysler/dodge has not done anything about it. *tr
While driving on the garden state parkway the front end of the vehicle began shaking violently. once the shakling began the vehicle was totally out of control. once i slowed to 45 mph the shaking stopped however during this time the vehicle was driving itself. thankfully there was no crash and i was able to continue driving. the next day during my commute the same exact thing happen. a check of the vehicle reveals no worn parts including the tires and tie rods. a check of the internet shows this is a common problem and referred to as the "death wobble" and was even the subject of discussion on the news. this is extremely dangerous and will lead to accidents and injuries. this matter that chrysler is aware of needs more attention and a recall should be announced. i am told that the track bar is the problem and will be repaired asap *cn
Death wobble. *tr
I just purchased a stock 06 dodge 2500 4x4. yesterday when driving it i nearly lost control while traveling 70mph and hitting small bumps in the paved road. the steering proceeded to turn right by its own then corrected. i took it to a mechanic who said that it was "death wobble" common to my year of truck. i researched online and found many people with the same complaints! *tr
2006 dodge 2500 4x4 death wobble no accident yet, chrysler litha of great falls montana said to change all kinds of front end parts and it [might] stop death wobble [ also at my expense] i feel un safe in a truck that is not even paid for and no even cares even chrysler. *tr
Was driving on interstate at 65mph and hit a small bump and the front end of truck (2006 dodge ram 2500) started to shake violently up and down and from side to side. i had to immediately pull to right lane and brake to get off the road (luckily no car to the side of me at the time of the incident). once vehicle slowed down to approxmiately 30 mph the shaking stopped. i have looked this up online and found many complaints for the same problem - called the "death wobble". this should be taken very seriously and chrysler should be held responsible to make the fix. i did not have my children in the truck at the time of this incident, but it is used as a family vehicle. i called the dodge dealer and of course they have never heard of this problem - find this very hard to believe. i then called the truck center where we purchased the vehicle (not affiliated with chrysler) - they said that they have had many customers complain of the same problem with this make/model. there was not a crash this time, but there very well could have been. *tr
Death wobble. *tr
Driving down the interstate at 70 miles an hour when i drove over a bridge expansion joint, the truck began so shake so violently that i had to pull off the road to complete stop to get the shaking to stop, this happened 8 more times on a 300 mile trip. upon searching online this seems to be a very common and serious problem for this model of vehicle. *tr
Driving along a busy interstate at 65mph, after going over a small bump in the road the steering became so violent and uncontrollable. later read it is known as the dodge death wobble. seems it ha happened to more than just this dodge owner on a stock truck. why hasn't there been a recall, is chrysler waiting for someone to die before they react? why be reactive when you can be proactive with all the complaints that have already been noted. *tr
2006 dodge ram 2500 "death wobble" experience twice in 30 minutes going over bridges in georgia at 70 mph. *tr
I own a 2006 dodge pickup that has appro. 82,000 miles on the vehicle. the front end of the dodge will shake when a bump is hit on the highway. checking current talk on the internet this is called the death wobble. how come dodge is not taking responsibility for this and not fixing the defect. i have asked several service departments and they all say their is nothing wrong with the front end. so why does the problem keep occurring and how come i'm not the only one. i hope this complaint will help, before someone is injured or killed. *tr
Purchased a new 06 dodge ram 2500 quad cab 4x4. truck came with 22inch tires and rims. replaced tires at 60k miles. almost had very severe accident at 60 miles an hour due to death wobble (violent shaking of truck). drove truck back to tire dealer. dealer said my front end was bad. bought all new complete front end parts from dodge including upper/lower ball joints and shocks. had parts installed cost $2900. took truck out on freeway now i have the death wobble at 70mph. took truck back to dodge, they say nothing is wrong. *tr
My 2006 dodge ram 2500 4x4 megacab is experiencing a very violent shaking in front suspension. had a recall and dealer said it did not apply to my vehicle. have tried alignments, new tires, new steering stabilizer dampers, even a frame brace that goes from one frame rail to the other to help stiffen front end. every time you hit a bump it loses control and you have to come to a complete stop so it can stop shaking so violently. if you search the internet you will find hundreds more if not thousands are having the same problem as well. there are even forums on this issue. i know that there is an ongoing investigation on this issue but it covers 2008's and above . older models are experiencing this issue as well. the public is in danger over this issue. dodge should be made liable and held accountable. they need to fix this issue before innocent people get hurt. *kb
2006 dodge ram 2500 quad cab laramie with diesel - vehicle begins to shake/wobble at around 40mph and gets progressively worse. when i hit a small bump - vehicle violently shakes out of control - loss of steering occurs - and have virtually no control until i bring speed down under 20-30mph. this is an extremely dangerous condition. have had 2 dealerships inspect and find nothing wrong. had a good truck shop in town inspect - no idea what's causing this issue. i do not have $5k+ to give dodge to put on a full 2009 model years suspension. they have done multiple recalls, none of which fix this issue. i just want my truck to drive normally without fearing going over 45mph. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500 quad st/slt. he purchased the vehicle in december of 2006. during a routine wheel alignment appointment, the mechanic could not complete the alignment since the front wheel bearings were defective. in june of 2009, he heard a noise coming from the left front wheel. the mechanic confirmed that the right and left wheel bearing and axle joints needed to be repaired. the warranty has expired. the estimated repair cost was $1,100. the vehicle will be repaired with after market wheel bearings and a drive axle u joint. the manufacturer will be notified. the contact experienced identical failure with a 2003 dodge ram 2500 quad st/slt which he thought was due to the tires. the failure and the current mileages were 56,000.
I have a 2006 dodge ram 2500 cummins turbo diesel. everything was great with my truck up till about may of 2009. while driving home at about 40 mph, i got the "death wobble" on my truck. extremely scary when it happens to you. luckily there were no vehicles behind me. i had to come to almost a complete stop for the death wobble to go away. i thought it was going to be a rare thing to happen, but it pretty much happens every time i drive my truck. all i have to do is go over a couple of small ruts or bumps on the road and the truck will get into the death wobble. *tr
2006 dodge ram megacab 4x4 last was driving around corner lost steering control. collision into 5 parked vehicles totaling all vehicles hit approx 48 mph at night clear roadways no ice or water police report shows that steering went out on vehicle because steering wheel turned but wheels did not.. steering was lost meaning no steering control whatsoever. had to have whole front end put on truck. steering appears okay. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the vehicle was making a loud noise, which progressively grew louder while driving 40 mph. he took the vehicle to the repair shop and the mechanic stated that the front suspension wheel bearing failed. a report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 07v038000 (suspension: front: wheel bearing). the contact will have the vehicle repaired. the current and failure mileages were 54,000.
Dodge ram death wobble while driving the steering wheel starts violently shaking and the front end is going back and forth until you slow down then if you hit a bump in the road it starts shaking again. *tr
My 2006 dodge ram 2500 had bad tie rods, track bar and steering damper with less than 36000 miles on it. at the point it became apparent, the truck became very unstable and hard to keep on the road. i took it to modica brothers in my town to have it fixed because any dealerships were at least an hour from me and i felt i needed my vehicle fixed as soon as possible. after getting the truck repaired it was brought to my attention that the truck was still covered under warranty. i have contacted dodge concerning this and was denied coverage because i did not have the truck towed and go to a dodge dealership to have the truck repaired. *tr
Driving on a straight road at about 65mph, pickup started to shake and jump violently nearly causing me to crash. *tr

2006 dodge ram 2500 "death wobble". truck shakes at any speed but worse at higher speed when you hit a bump. it causes to loose control of truck. the truck just shakes violently and must come to a complete stop on highway. brought back to dealer and was good for about 2 weeks. has been going on since 1 year old. the truck currently has 50,000 miles on it. *tr
Front suspension bottoms out when going over bumps i was told this is normal by the dealer but as a technician i have never seen a vehicle that does this from the factory and now at about 42000 miles my lower ball joints are failing. *tr
Terrible shaking when i do 70mph and hit a bump in road. i have to slow down to 35mph to get it to stop. makes you go off of road. *tr
