We have classified the 19 complaints from 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 about EXTERIOR LIGHTING into the following categories.
I purchased this truck a year and a half ago, and my tipm has gone bad. no rear lights at night. have gone to dealership and the part is on national back order, and has been for some time. this is a common problem for this truck is what i've been told. it should be recalled by dodge.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. while operating the vehicle, both the high beam and low beam headlights would not illuminate. also, the rear driver's side window would not operate due to damaged electrical wires located in the driver side door panel. the contact indicated that the wires became damaged by opening and closing the doors. in addition, while at a stop light, the vehicle momentarily experienced unintended acceleration. the cause of the failures was not diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the local dealer (jerry wood dodge in salisbury, nc) and the manufacturer were notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 195,000.
On this model, as well as others within a close date range, the forward control module(fcm) shuts off the headlights if it recognizes any disruption in current or ground. this has happened to me about 4 times in the last year and causes a safety concern as the only thing i can do is turn on my brights, which in turn blinds other drivers. the module is located outboard of the fuse box, located above driver side wheel well in the engine compartment. price is usually around $400 for part, then i have to take it to somebody to have it keyed to my computer for another $100-200. there is no variable as to when it happens, sometimes while in motion, sometimes while stationary.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the running lights failed to illuminate. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
Driving westbound on m46 during dusk, headlights were on, suddenly i was being signaled my high beams were on. i stopped at a nearby gas station to check out what was going on and all of my lights had failed. closer inspection revealed the totally integrated power module had failed without warning. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the headlights and turn signals failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the headlight relay switch had failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 160,000. the vin was not available.
You can not turn on left turn signal without the right signal coming on too. to make a right turn you need to keep pressing on right turn signal to keep it blinking. i see many other owners with same problem. this is an accident waiting to happen!!!!!!!!!! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that only the passenger's side rear turn signal and high beam was operable. the contact spoke with the dealer and was advised that the headlight module may have needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileages were 60,000. *tr
My 2004 dodge ram 2500 does not have working running lights. i cannot safely drive the vehicle at night. per the dodge dealer, they have diagnosed it as part number 68005476aa (fuse box/power control module). the part is, and has been, on national back order for a very long time. apparently, this is a wide spread problem that others are experiencing in varying electrical/lighting ways. the lack of improper or non-working lights poses a safety issue. the non availability of parts makes a perfectly good vehicle non-drivable. *tr
Low beam head lights come on and off randomly when in the on position. *tr
On our 2004 dodge ram 2500 slt crew cab. the turn signal will sometimes intermittently do the exact opposite of the direction you choose and when this happens the headlights will not go bright if you have it on dim and the windshield wipers will not work as we found out shortly after we bought the truck on a rainy day. it appears it is all controlled from one location on the steering wheel column. *tr
Either the power control module (fusebox) failed or the forward control module did (the part under the fusebox. several lighting groups will go out even when driving down the road, including headlights. i have no doubt this is a safety hazard to have your headlights become unfunctional at night while driving. how i know it is a big issue that dodge has not felt necessary to issue a safety recall is because when i went to order the part i was told it is on at least a 6 week back order. there are so many owners having the same problem they can't make them fast enough to keep up. so that means 2004 dodge ram pickup owners have to let their vehicles sit in the garage for 6 weeks as it is not safe to drive them until they receive the part. i have had similar problems with dodge and until they are forced by you to issue a safety recall they won't. also, it is dodge's past action in that they will put the same part on a vehicle that they originally put on the vehicle and it will do the same thing, fail. you should force them to identify the problem, identify the weakness, improve the part and replace it at their cost....not just replace the bad part with another bad part. the part (s) cost between $400 and $500 +labor. *tr
While driving my 2004 ram 2500 at night, all lights suddenly turned of. after hitting the dash they came back on but would go on and off on their own. this has happened 10 or 12 times now in the past month but the dealer says it is not their problem. i was told it will cost $900 to repair. *tr
2004 dodge 2500 turn indicator in left hand position makes right hand signal activate. all left hand indicators do not work. *tr
Turn signals are erratic. signal left, right comes on. this is an intermittent problem that makes it worse. it is impossible to predict when it is going to malfunction and i have almost gotten into 3 accidents because of it. the left will function if the warning flashers are depressed. *tr
My 2004 dodge ram turn signal intermittently will not work when you turn on right blinker or it will turn on the left blinker. went to dealer to ask about it they said it has happened on other trucks but no recall yet. they said it would cost about $800.00 to fix so i might want to wait till it fails completely. i just don't want to get in accident caused by wrong blinker going off. *tr
Headlights malfunctioned attributed to the front control module according to chrysler star representative.this is a "known" problem that the dealer was not prepared or able to diagnose. according to chrysler star support desk the front control module p/n 56051036ad has a known problem. i was only able to find this out after calling chrysler customer service and insisting that the dealer call their star support desk and open an incident. the rep at the support desk immediately told the service tech that the front control module had a known problem. the intermittent failure created a safety hazard on the highway by not functioning at all or malfunctioning. lights on truck can fail at any time headlights, taillights, brake lights because of this front control module there is no backup on the system when it fails. here is the link to a service bulletin put out by dodge http://www.xkjeeps.com/tsb/tsb_xk_0806005.pdf. this should be a recall item !! *tr
Turn signal malfunction. signaling left will turn on right side. signaling right will turn off. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500 quad st.(na) the contact stated both turn signals will not operate properly. when the left turn signal was turned on, the right signal will turn on instead. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was contacted and a claim was filed but the manufacturer offered no further assistance. the failure mileage was 160,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 25000. the contact stated at the directional signals and the windshield wiper failed. when the right directional signals was activated, the left directional would flash and the windshield wiper would not clear the windshield. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 136,000.
2004 dodge ram 2500. head lights are very weak. no differance in high and low beam. lights do project far enough out to see roadway.*ak
Dt*: the contact states when the left signal is turned on the right signal blinks. the right signal does not work. it is an erratic problem. sometimes it works correctly. the dealership has been informed. updated 06/07/2006. *ak *ts
I own a 2004 2500 dodge ram pick-up. when the high beam headlights are turned on, the low beam lights and the driving lights are disabled. the result is a lack of light being cast upon the roadway. the high beams alone only cast a hazy beam that when used off highway is dangerous because you cannot see the ground in front of you. on the highway they do no more than blind oncoming cars and leave the road in a shadow. there are many postings on this subject on the web forum, "dodgeramforum.com" if you use the link below it will take you directly where most of the complaints are. i believe it only a matter of time before there is a serious accident because of this problem and that the dodge company needs to have a fix for this problem as there is now a company called "bright lights" making a fix for this. http://www.dodgeforum.com/forumid_106/tt.htm. *nm
I have a 2004 dodge ram 2500 with a 6 speed manual transmission. the sensor in my manual transmission that turns on my reverse lights failed. i replaced my sensor and the problem was solved. i am concerned because not only can i not see when backing up, other drivers are not alerted to my vehicle moving in reverse which could be dangerous to myself and others. there seem to be quite a few of these failures because the part was on backorder from the manufacturer. *nm
The 7 pin plug has never worked right the left turn and left brake light do not work nor have they ever
