This the the second attempt by me to report this problem. it is knwn as the dodge death wobble and this is a dangerous problem not only for the driver of the vehicle as well as anyone else on the highway when this occurs.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa8fjfmh1pa this the second dodge 200 that i have experienced this with. the vehicle totally loses control and you have to get off the road to stop it. there are countless videos on youtube of it.

At highway speeds of 70mph after hitting the slightest of bumps or bridge joints the front end of the truck would violently shake so bad that i couldn't control it and sent the truck sideways almost flipping it and hitting a tractor trailer but thank god i didnt. my wife and kids were driving it and at 60 hit a bump and she also almost wrecked it with our kids in the truck! its been in the shop and at this point im paying someone else to own it. im a ford guy and stepped out to try something different and am now wasting my hard earned money and im pissed. i want my f250 back.

Death wobble at highway speed.

The right lower control arm has broken, as if it had been cut, down the middle. even though i purchased this vehicle from a friend, i have never abused this vehicle in any fashion. the person from whom i purchased it did use it to pull a 5th wheel rv. i was jsut amazed by the way the control arm broke.

I was driving it home from the dealership, on a back road, going about 40 mph. i hit a bump, the whole front end started bouncing uncontrollably. like it was hit with a jack hammer! i ended up off the road! as i got out and was looking to see what happened, a guy stopped behind me. he got out, and said he has the same truck with the same problem. he's never seen it happen before, only experienced it first hand. he said it looked like the wheels were going different directions! i didn't see anything wrong tho. the lug nuts and everything were tight.it even passed inspection this morning! i looked online and it said to start online here to document the complaints.

The leaf sprimg assembly on the passenger side in the rear broke away from the frame. being that i am retired and this is my personal vehicle i dont put to many heavy loads on it. i do have a travel trailer and a boat . i have never pulled them together nor do i use them all the time from occassion i go camping. i do fish a morethan i camp but the wait of either is relitively the same. i had my family with me when the leaf spring broke. i have 5 trucks, i have done the same things with all of them and never had a leaf spring brak from the vehicle. as i took it to the dealer he told me he has only seen this once in his 20 years of working on trucks. i do belive that this is an area of concern..

My truck has death wobble. when i drive on the highway under normal driving conditions and hit even the slightest bump just right, my front end will shake violently and will not stop shaking until i slow down to under 30 mph. it has been happening for 2 years now and there isn't a sure fire fix for this problem. several mechanics have looked at my truck and they all have a different idea of how to fix it.

I was driving down i-15 at approximately 70mph and hit a small bump in the road. the front end started bouncing uncontrollably. had to completely stop in traffic, which almost resulted in a big accident. this is not the first time this has happened. i was in traffic on monday this week as well and the same thing happened twice at slower speeds and on both of these occasions was almost hit by an 18 wheeler. i am a female and trying to hold on to the steering wheel while it jerked violently back and forth was almost not doable. when is dodge going to be held responsible for making a safe truck for us to drive? my mechanic told me that just about all of these trucks have this same issue and they won't fix it unless it cracks. this is not safe for drivers anywhere. is it going to take a serious accident or death to get something done about this problem?

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. while traveling at 55 mph, the front end of the vehicle began to shake uncontrollably without warning. the failure occurred once. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 112,000.

If i hit a bump when traveling straight at highway speeds, it causes an extreme wobble that only improves by slowing down significantly. i'm afraid that it will eventually cause an accident. it feels like you could easily loose control. i have taken it to my mechanic and the dealership and they can't find anything wrong.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. while the vehicle was being serviced by the dealer, the technician informed the contact that the vehicle's upper, lower, and u joints were fractured. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 154,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. while reversing into the garage, the throttle body detached. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 150,000. updated 8/19/15*cn the consumer also stated the tie rod broke, the u-joints and upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced. updated 08/25/15*jb

Driving home i hit a pot hole at 65 miles an hour when the trucks front end started shaking violently. i had to slow down to about 35 miles an hour to get control. its been a regular occurrence ever since. i have taken it to the dealership and they say nothing is wrong. i have researched and spent over $1000.00 on parts. apparently it is a common problem with dodge known as the "death wobble" that dodge fails to acknowledge or take responsibility for. *tr

Otherwise known as the "dodge death wobble". the approximate incident date is the last time it occurred because i can't remember when the first time was. i attempted to have this issue resolved/ repaired by chrysler multiple times just to get the runaround every time. this last time 02/16/2015, they had me driving 30 minutes to their shop, in treacherous driving conditions caused by 5 inches of sleet and snow received the night before. then they ended up wasting over 3 hours of my time/day by not doing any work at all to my truck the whole time it sat in their shop and tried to make me pay in excess of $575 for any work they was going to do. i had already rebuilt the entire front end in mid 2013 and in 2014 i dumped $10000 into rebuilding the engine because it blew 4 of the 6 compression rings for some reason, i can't afford to rebuild the whole front end.......again. this is a seriously dangerous issue and has had hundreds of complaints about it. there is even a class action lawsuit over it. chrysler knows there is a problem and has the parts to fix it, so why won't they just do it? doesn't chrysler care about the safety of their customers? *tr

In july 2014, traveling along a 2 lane highway, we hit a bump in the road and the truck started to violently shake to the point where we had to come to a complete stop on the road. scared the entire family as we got out to see if we had a tire failure. nothing seemed out of the ordinary. continued on the vacation and had it occur 3-5 more times while in the truck. while on vacation, had the steering damper(stabilizer) and rotated the tires but that did not fix the problem. upon return home, took it to a non-chrysler service center as the local dodge dealer was 3 weeks out on getting the truck in. they replaced both upper and lower tie rods joints, wheel bearings and aligned the vehicle. $2000 approximate cost plus the steering stabilizer and no fix. took the truck on another extended trip on 4/3 and had it occur again. when i called chrysler dealer today (4/6), the service advisor was unaware of any problems with this truck and advised me to bring it in which i will do next week. it still has the passenger air bag recall out on it. all previous recalls have been inspected by chrysler service centers. this is a very dangerous situation and i fear that allowing the truck on the highway dangers not only me and my family but other motorists traveling near us. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 06v288000 (suspension) in july of 2014. the dealer and manufacturer stated that the parts were unavailable to repair the vehicle. the contact had not experienced a failure. updated 9/18/14*cn the consumer stated after two weeks the vehicle was repaired. updated 2/11/15 *js

Going down i94 i drove over a very small pot hole and the truck started to violently shake almost causing me to loss control. i slowed down to 45 on a posted 70mile freeway during rush hour to get it under control. it has happened 2 times scents. the truck is at the shop now.if u look at the internet there are many people with is problem called death wobble and it is not a easy fix dodge needs to be held responsible before someone gets hurt. *tr

Ran over a pothole at 65 mph and the front end violently shook. had to apply the brakes and slow down to 50 mph in order to gain control. took it into national tire and battery and $1700 later, i still have the problem. *tr semi truck behind me almost ran over me. violently shakes. very scary.

2005 dodge 2500 ram. consumer writes in regards to vehicle ball joints, u joints and wheel bearing worn out and needed to be replaced. *smd also, the exhaust system rusted though and the right tie rod end fractured. the consumer recently received a recall notice, regarding the right front tie rod. however, when he called the about the recall, he was informed to send a copy of the invoice and chrysler would pay for the previous repair. the consumer was then informed they would not pay for anything, unless mopar parts were used. *jb

2004 dodge ram 2500. consumer writes in regards to tie rod ball stud recall notice, heater controller unit, front end steering control and suspension issues. consumer seeks reimbursement for repairs. *smd the consumer stated the steering box and power steering pump were replaced. the source was metal shavings in the steering box. also, it was noted the sway bar links were worn out, and the dealer was unable to perform a full alignment, because the upper ball joints were loose. the consumer had to manually move the heater blender door, in order to turn off the heat. the check engine light illuminated, which was traced to a frayed wire, and eventually fixed. the consumer stated a service advisor informed him, nothing needed to be done to the vehicle, as far as the recall was concerned, after only looking at the vehicle for a few seconds. *jb

I was on my way to see my doctor in waltham ,ma. and i travel the ma.turnpike at 67mph, and every bridge span or bump in the road surface the truck started to shake uncontrollably until i went to the brake down lane and brought the truck to a dead stop. in the 166 miles from my home to the doctor office and back home again i had to stop this truck 15 times. when i brought it to the dealership i had to pay $1,699.31for the damage that was cause by a defective part that no one want to replace under what should be a recall. chrysler says that because of the year and mileage of the vehicle that it was my problem even though they have redesigned the part that cause this problem in the first place. and even after i pay the first repair bill the truck still had the same problem until the mechanic tighten the bolts on the part. the truck is still handling the same as before it was fix. and because i have had major surgery i will have to travel that road many times before i,m healed. because i'm on workman comp. i have limited funds to live on and i really worry when i drive that truck as i can't afford another vehicle and chrysler want to do nothing about it until someone is hurt or dead. *tr

Vehicle started death wobble, i replaced the entire front end. dodge recalled parts, now are denying repayment for parts i paid for. *tr

My 2004 dodge ram 2500 exhibits the classic defective steering linkage issues common to dodge rams of this year and results in the "death wobble" when driving over a bump at highway speeds. it becomes nearly uncontrollable until i slow to below 30 mph. the dealership always claims that they either "cannot duplicate" the issue, or that they couldn't fix it if they could duplicate it anyway. i bought the dodge ram used in 2013 and have been having this issue ever since. i did not know that this was a common dodge ram problem, that has been ignored by chrysler, or i would not have purchased the truck.

I was driving my 2004 dodge 2500 4x4 diesel pickup at 40-45 mph. as i was going into a curve in the road, i drove over a rough part in the road and the steering wheel started shaking violently back and forth (left and right). it was very hard to control the vehicle, i nearly crashed into a car on one side of me and a bridge railing on the other side. i thought maybe one of the front wheels was coming off the axle or i had a blowout. i slowed down and finally got the vehicle under control. i took it to a diesel repair shop immediately after this happened and they found the steering stabilizer shock leaking, the outer tie rod at the drag link and inner tie rod had some play, and both upper ball joints had some play. they replaced the steering stabilizer shock, the right inner tie rod, and the right outer tie rod. these repairs came to close to $400. they mentioned the "death wobble" problem and suggested we might add additional aftermarket parts to the front suspension to prevent this from happening again. the shop could not do the work right then or i would have had it done. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle now; it took all my driving experience and strength to get control of the vehicle, i do not think a weaker or inexperienced driver could have kept the vehicle from crashing. after looking at all the evidence of this "death wobble" problem on the internet, i cannot believe that the problem has not been solved and the vehicles recalled. people could die and or be injured and probably already have. the accident would probably be blamed on driver error with broken parts blamed on the accident instead of on the broken parts causing the accident. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that there was a rattling noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 182,000.

While driving at 55mph and above, hit bump on highway and the front end started to shake violently. the truck almost went into the other lane. *tr

While driving on the highway at speeds of about 55 mph and hitting any small rut or change in the road the vehicle begins to shake like crazy . i have had it at the dealer for the recall and they said it was ok . i have had it at the local truck shop and they can't figure it out . everything looks to be tight . dodge needs to get these trucks recalled before someone dies . dodge knows there is a problem why in the world won they fix this . i asked the local dealer again about the death wobble and they said that they were not aware of any death wobble . are you kidding all you have to do is google death wobble and you will see all you need to know . if i would have known about this problem store i bought this truck i would have not bought it . i am now thinking of trading it in , and let it kill someone else . *tr

Dodge death wobble this really should be under recall before someone gets hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr

The death wobble as drivers of these trucks call it. the fix in 2010 was only temporary for my 2004 dodge truck. it once again is going into the death wobble . dodge says the parts were only warranted for 12 months and won't fix it again. dodge apparently didn't use heavy enough parts and axles in the first place so does that mean i have to pay to have it fixed over and over and over. someone needs to make dodge continue to replace these parts . there are and will be many deaths over these trucks . it is no wonder the american vehicle manuf. are struggling. apparently the bulletin repair makes the truck safe for only 1 more year . this isn't a poor a.c or power lock problem it is related to loss of control while driving in normal everyday conditions which can result in loss of life. please make dodge do the right thing on this one and get to the root of the problem at their expense not mine. just how many complaints has dodge had concerning this. only they know. i will never buy another dodge chrysler product again. i called dodge & they acted as though they had never heard of this problem! *tr

Death wobble at different speeds and bumps i have replaced some parts and nothing has changed and the more i research this problem the more i learn there are many just like me with the same issue. *tr

Truck will go into "death wobble at or around 60 miles an hour, and wont stop until it reaches 30 to 35 mph. this is a recipe for disaster!!!! i urge anyone reading this to file formal complaints with any one who will listen!! im contacting my state rep. on this matter. just like the corvair, unsafe at any speed. *tr

I was driving down the highway at 70 mph when my truck went into what consumers are calling "the death wobble." the truck started shaking uncontrollably, making it hard to drive. it has continued to do it, and mechanics are having a difficult time finding out what is wrong. my wife and son were in the truck with me when it happened the first time, and i'm afraid for them to ride in the truck now because of it. i shouldn't have to fear driving my main source of transportation...especially when it's not a bad vehicle. i'm noticing numerous complaints regarding this issue. *tr

Death shake has almost caused 4 accidents for me. i have been trying to get my truck fixed since 2005 dodge has yet to offer any help. any time i hit any small bump, pot hole, break in the road going over 50mph the truck enters a violent shake. i have to pull over to the side of the road and slow down to stop the shake. this is extremely dangerous in any type of traffic. the dodge dealerships have not offered any assistance other than telling me to spend thousands to replace parts that might not even fix the issue. *kb

I was driving the truck along hwy 5 in northern california in the fast lane when, going over a bridge, the front end started to violently shake. the steering wheel jerked out of my hand, i slowed down and had to pull over in front of another vehicle. truck continued to shimmy until i came to a stop. i got out and thought maybe i had blown a tire - anything - while stranded on the side of this major hwy with loaded semis lying by. i could not see anything wrong with the truck. got back in, it happened again some 50 miles later. i had the suspension checked and a part replaced. it happened again this spring 2014. i was told by the dealer that it was my tires. the tires were nearly new the first times this happened. i replaced the tires and am now told i have to replace other suspension parts that are damaged/worn at only 80k miles. i have had trucks, cars, etc, for decades that never had suspension issues like this even when they had over 130,000 miles. it angers me that everyone has problems with these diesel trucks and the dealers get away with poor suspensions. a week ago, i was on the freeway and saw this happen to a truck in front of me. i watched as the person attempted to slow down while trying to gain control of the truck and had to try to get across 3 lanes of heavy traffic to the side of the road. how many people have been killed by this? injured? i felt badly for them as i know exactly how that felt as they struggled to slow down and get over with semi trucks, cars, etc, fly by them. *tr

While going 55 to 60 mph hit a small bump with right front tire causes violent shaking of front end, there is no control of the truck, all you can do is stomp the brakes. you must bring the truck down to almost a complete stop to stop the shaking. all front end components have been checked by a certified mechanic. online research has revealed the dodge death wobble to be the problem. dodge/mopar is very aware of the problem but offer no help with the problem. please help with this issue before someone gets killed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving over bumpy road surfaces, the front tires would shake excessively. in order to regain control of the vehicle, the contact would have to come to a complete stop. the dealer did not offer any assistance and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 240,000 and the current mileage was 250,000. the vin was unavailable.

I have a 2004 dodge ram 2500 4x4 5.7 at highway speed of 60 to 65 mph the truck goes into a "death wobble" from any bump in the road it is almost impossible to control my truck is all stock and only has 67,000 miles on it why does dodge not recall and fix this problem before it hurts or kills some one? *tr

Uncontrollable front tires bouncing when my truck is driven over 55 miles and hits a bump. i have to slow down to stop the bouncing. this has been a problem since i bought the truck years ago and happens as a regular occurrence. the problem occurs every time i hit a bump at 55. i have replaced shocks had ties rotated, but the problem has not been fixed. *tr

My 2004 dodge ram 2500 has a violent shake in the front end when traveling at speeds of 55mph or more when hitting a bump or pothole. when the violent shaking begins, the vehicle is uncontrollable until the vehicle is slowed down considerably. i have taken the vehicle to two mechanics who have not been able to correct the problem. they have changed the steering damper and the shocks, and checked the whole front end. they could find no problems, and it is still happening. according to research on the internet, many other dodge owners are having the same problem and have been for years. dodge needs to do something about this before someone gets injured or killed. any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. *kb

When the vehicle was approx 4yrs old it began the death wobble while on the highway. for the next two years, it seemed to occur only while towing a horse trailer . the vehicle would hit an uneven area, especially on overpasses, and the entire front end of the truck would bounce from side to side becoming unstearable. stopping on the side of the road was the only way to stop the bouncing. as time went on the wobble occured more frequently and then without towing a trailer. i have replaced the bushings in the track bar with no appreciable improvement. i am now looking into steering stablilizers and heavy duty track bars. this is definitely a manufacturers defect. dodge should be paying for this fix regardless of age of vehicle. *tr

Service bulletin 22-005-06 concerning front end shimmy or the death wobble as drivers of these trucks call it. the fix in 2006 was only temporary for my 2004 dodge truck. it once again is going into the death wobble after going over railroad tracks or any bump in the road. dodge says the parts were only warranted for 12 months and won't fix it again. dodge apparently didn't use heavy enough parts and axles in the first place so does that mean i have to pay to have it fixed over and over and over. someone needs to make dodge continue to replace these parts . there are and will be many deaths over these trucks . it is no wonder the american vehicle manuf. are struggling. apparently the bulletin repair makes the truck safe for only 1 more year . this isn't a poor a.c or power lock problem it is related to loss of control while driving in normal everyday conditions which can result in loss of life. please make dodge do the right thing on this one and get to the root of the problem at their expense not mine. just how many complains has dodge had concerning this. only they know. i will never buy another dodge chrysler product again. *tr

I was driving my 2004 dodge ram 2500 on the freeway at about 55 mph when the wheel hit a pot hole. at that moment the steering wheel began to shake uncontrollably. i immediately slowed down and the shake stopped. after that incident i really started to pay attention and it does it from 55 mph and up. i have tried to have the issue corrected but nothing seems to fix the problem. it is very unsafe to drive my vehicle. *tr

My 2004 dodge ram 2500 experienced violent shaking after hitting a bump on the freeway at approx 60 mph. i had to slow to about 30 mph before the shaking stopped. this is the 6th time this has happened. i thought it could be shocks and had them replaced about 1000 miles ago, but the problem remains. i have read several other complaints that described the exact situation i experienced. it is a front end problem that dodge needs to address. *tr

When going over a bump in the road at approximately 50 mph, uncontrolled suspension oscillation, or "death wobble," occurs. once it begins, nearly all steering control is lost. the only thing that can be done at the time is to rapidly decelerate to around 30 mph. this is very dangerous for drivers of these vehicles and anyone near by. i have spent thousands of dollars replacing factory parts with high end aftermarket upgrades and it always comes back. *js

I have a 2004 dodge ram 2500 pickup 4x4. when going about 60 mph and hit a bump in the road or a bridge, the truck shakes so violently that i have to pull over to the side of the road. we bought this truck 3 mos ago and the problem described has happened approximately 20 times. i have replaced the stabilizer shock. i have made sure everything under the front & rear end is tight. *tr

My '04 2500 dodge ram pickup experienced what is known as the death wobble today. a violent shaking of the front axel, which results in absolutely no control over the vehicle, except for braking and minimal steering. my two year old son was present for this, and it absolutely scared him to death. according to many online sites, this is a common occurrence in dodge ram heavy duty trucks that i had no idea existed. my experience with this issue almost, what i believe, cost me and my son our life. the truck will be parked until i can make time to get it a dealership and have it checked out. *tr

My dodge ram 2500 04 jumps alot on the highway uncontrollably and once you hit a small bump on the highway your all over the road i've done the alignment on it changed tires and changed the whole suspension like mechanics told me to but nothing seems to help i've herd it also might be the stabilizer bar also known as the sway bar but i don't think its that i think the truck is a defect and should be recalled not even the certified ase dodge mechanic know what it is when i first got the truck it was never like that but i was coming back from minnesota and i was going 100 mph and hit a bump and that's when it all started happening. *tr

While driving under normal conditions truck began shaking violently while traveling about 60 mph and striking bump in road. truck began to shake so violently that items were falling from visors and items were falling from various storage locations in vehicle. i attempted to gradually slow down and problem actually became worse, until i achieved about 25-30 mph. this is commonly called the "death wobble" and to my understanding dodge is aware of this . this has occurred on 3 occasions and has caused me to nearly loose control of truck. the first occurrence was so severe i actually called 911 center and asked them to come and check highway, due what i had thought was a to buckle in the pavement. the truck at that time had 30k miles or so. after this occurred i assumed it was due to road condition. recently when it has occurred again and i began investigating its cause, now realizing its the vehicle, and not the road causing the shaking. this could be deadly as vehicle becomes uncontrollable. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 dodge 2500 hd. the contact was driving approximately 5 mph on a gravel road surface. a clanking noise was coming from the front end of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. the front lower and upper ball joints; and rear brakes were replaced. the failure continued after the service repair. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on a separate occasion for the identical failure. the technician detected the lower and upper ball joints repair were performed incorrectly, and several required parts were not installed on the vehicle. the contact was displeased with the authorized dealer for not taking responsible for the insufficient repair. the vehicle was repaired at the owners expense. the failure mileage was 217,000. the vin was not available. the current mileage was 220,000.

Dodge death wobble. i have a 2004 dodge ram 2500 that has the death wobble. i see not many have been reported, but everyone ends up with it at one point. read message boards. they all talk about their experiences. i have to pay 300 bucks to replace parts that are recommended to possibly solve the problem. it is not deadly if handled correctly, but it causes you to have to stop immediately. i had to stop 3 times on the pa turnpike over the weekend. just got back from dealer. only suggested to try changing the steering dampener. that is not the issue though. *tr
