Complete top of dashboard is cracking and pieces falling inside. condition is concerning from a safety standpoint. the structural integrity of the dash which also houses the passenger airbag is obviously compromised, there are sharp edges where the dash has cracked and where large pieces of plastic are missing. this would very likely cause injuries in the event of a crash.

Dash has been cracking for years as most do. becoming a safety issue as pieces fly into your face everytime you use heat or ac. also has jagged edges that could be an issue in an accident situation. *tr

While searching for a fix for my dash which just cracked i found several reports of after the dash cracked where electrical issues arise. as in headlights not working at all or when switching to hi beam. i also saw a video on this issue from a news broadcast and when chrysler was questioned about this there was never any response while the public was requesting a recall. from what i can find out just in the hour i was looking this up this would apply to just about every dodge ram made between 1996 and 2006. my truck is garage kept and i keep it in excellent condition so for this to happen due to sitting in the sun it's entire life i might understand but there is no way this should have happened to mine. my father was a mechanic for chrysler for over 20 years and this is just plain cheap made products. which from what i can find out could and most likely will lead to some safety issue with the vehicle. since i can not find anything more out with regards to what the nhtsa is doing only monitoring the issue?? the broadcast i saw was from 2012, i would think something would have become of this by now for sure after seeing that video. yet at that time the news channel stated your doing nothing. *tr

08/16/2014, dash board was intact and no flaws noted---------------on 08/17/2014, overnight, the dash was found split in two, my biggest concern is that this crack ( with sharp jagged edges ) is located directly over the passenger air bag. should the bag deploy, it would likely be punctured and my passenger injured. i feel this safety hazard should be dodge's responsibility to rectify. *tr

The dash on my 03 ram 2500 5.9 diesel has literally has fallen in on itself. very large sections of the dash have broken off and have become a safety concern. for example, if an accident were to occur causing the airbag to deploy, pieces of projectile shrapnel would be thrown all over the cab of the truck. i've been in contact with dodge, and nothing will be done about this issue because the truck is "out-of-warranty" and is considered "normal wear and tear". the particular customer service representative i spoke to copped an attitude with me and refused to connect me to a supervisor, citing that it "is not a supervisor issue". i do not know where to go from here. does an accident have to occur in which people are maimed by pieces of the dash in order for dodge to do anything? i really would hate to see my wife with pieces of plastic sticking out of her face and skull because this problem was not handled in an appropriate manner. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge sprinter 2500. the contact stated that while driving over a bump at an unknown speed, the driver side sun visors fractured and obstructed the view of the contact. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 160,000. ma 08/13/15 updated 09/10/15*lj the consumer stated the sun visor never fractured, but would pivot down. this would block the view of the roadway. updated 12/1/2015*js

The dash on my truck is cracked into small pieces that are very dangerous. the pieces are sharp because they are broke into little triangles. the pointed ends will injure or kill someone during a crash! also the airbag light is on and i can't get it repaired because the dash has to be removed and it is in little pieces. this means that because of this dash i don't have an airbag! i called dodge(along with everyone else) and they pretty much told me they didn't care. i asked them if my truck was safe to drive and he said "no". *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken for routine maintenance when he was advised that the frame was rusted. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who confirmed that the frame was rusted. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

Purchased this 2500 cummins diesel new- have maintain reg. maintenance, kept in garage, never been wrecked & looks brand new on inside. the paint has begun to come off due to there being a paint defect with no/little clear coat. it has also begun to rust causing a safety hazard. there have been hundreds complaints about the paint on this year truck and dodge has omitted to the paint defect on several different sites. i take great in this trucks safety however it is now being jeopardized. i have owned trucks longer than this and never had an issue due to the particular care. i have taken this truck to the paint/body shop and to have it repainted the same color will cost approximately $5,000. this is dodge's problem that they have openly admitted and now need to solve the problem at no expense to the owners. *js

Vehicle was in motion when i identified a large crack had form in the center of the dashboard above the radio from front to rear. as i drive each day i have more and more cracks forming in all directions with sharp/angular pieces unexpectedly falling into the dash and the cab of the truck. i am concerned about the safety of myself and my passengers especially when i consider what might happen when the airbag deploys as designed, causing the dash to explode and send projectiles throughout the cab. i contacted chrysler back in 2013 and was told by a representative that this defect is not a warranty issue because of the time since the purchase date. since then the damage has become more severe and i am concerned that pieces falling behind the dash they will interfere with my ability to control the vehicle (acceleration/braking). these concerns represent significant safety issues that were not disclosed to me when i purchased back in 2003.

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the dash board developed a crack with sharp jagged edges. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 146,000.

Dashboard has sever cracks which developed about 4 years ago. i was driving down the road and turned on the defroster. the grill covering the defroster blew apart into several pieces and hit my check and jaw. no injuries were sustained. however, there are several more grills and they are extremely dry rotted. question is do i remove the grills and let debris fall into the ducts and they too become projectiles or leave the grills and hope for the best. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the dashboard was cracked entirely. also, the contact mentioned that there were cracks located by the air bag compartment on the passenger side. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated that the entire dashboard needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 78,000.

Got into truck to take a ride and noticed the dash was cracked in two places. i'm afraid the thing is going fly into the face of someone on the passenger side if i'm in an accident. *tr

After purchasing this truck from the first time owner, i begin to notice at certain times i would experience a violent shaking when going over a bump. after looking online and reading about the "death wobble" i become worried and contacted the dealer. of course they acted like they did not know what i was talking about. but when you talk to an independent mechanic, they know exactly what you are talking about. in short, i have spent over $2700 getting the front end redone, with no help from chrysler. i find it completely irresponsible on their part to not do anything to help with this problem. now.. just last week i get this recall notice on the left tie rod end. i am most certain when i take it in, they will say there is nothing wrong with it.. and send me on my way. this issue and the cracked dash is all a bunch of baloney to which chrysler should have taken some serious action to help folks who bought a $50k truck in good faith that it was built good.. *tr

Dash began cracking and now pieces falling down while driving. i purchased a replacement from a junk yard and had it installed. now this one is also cracking and won't be long until its as bad as the original. dodge wants $800 for a new one and it will cost me another $335 to have it installed. this is ridiculous. what kind of material could possibly have a shelve life of exactly 10 years. secondly how can the new replacement (that will also have a 10year shelve life) be so expensive? my son drives a 20year old ford truck and the dash is perfect. i used to love this truck and now we hate it. so frustrating. *tr

The dash in my truck has cracked from the from to the rear of the dash like alot of the dodgeram have done but yet there has not been a recall for this issue. what is it going to take before anyone does anything about this issue. is someone waiting to have a airbag go off and send the dash in little pieces or one large piece to cause a fatal accident or what this is a safety issue. *tr

The spare tire on a dodge ram 2500 is secured underneath the vehicle with a stranded cable. while driving down the road, the spare tire fell off. when it fell, it bounced into the rear bumper, jolted the vehicle, and then rolled down the road. although no accident occurred, it could have been catastrophic if other vehicles had been on the road at the time. the root cause is most likely due to a failure at the location where the cable is swaged to the plate. dodge should be required to inspect and repair these at their expense. *tr

I purchased the truck with 124,000 miles and noticed the dash was cracked on my drive from tennessee back to florida. it makes noise, looks like crap, and keeps me from setting anything on the dash board. this is something that is veryyyyyyyyyyyyy common on dodges, if not a right of passage. they need to address the issues and step up and take care of dodge owners. dodge, you were cheap on the manufacturing, now you need to make it right. *tt

The dashboard in my truck started to crack and is now falling apart with huge sharp pieces coming off i am afraid my small children will be injured from the dash. *tr

My 2003 dodge ram 2500 truck's dashboard has cracked in several places. these are long cracks from the windshield to the cabin edge. also large circles of cracks. this is a safety concern because of the possibility of sharp pieces flying through the cab of the truck. we are not only concerned for our safety but for the safety of our twin 3 year old grandsons that are often with us. *tr

My dash board on my 2003 dodge ram 2500 with only 60,000 miles is falling apart, then it falls little piece of it in my ac vent cause pieces to fly out if you put it on defrost. very dangerous. also the whole dash is falling in and if the air bags go off the dash pieces could easily kill or hurt you. the dealer says that it is out of warranty and that's all . *tr

The dash started cracking and has not stopped . will they ever do anything about this or will my dash be in my floor ? *js

The upper dashboard on my ram 2500 cracked. the exposed edges are sharp, and represent a safety hazard under normal operation. the situation could be catastrophic if the sharp edges were to cut the airbag when deployed. this defect has been reported to dodge by a large number of customers, and their typical response is that they bear no responsibility since the vehicle is out of warranty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that there was rust and corrosion on the passenger and driver's side bed near the upper fender well. the dealer stated that both outer skins of the fender well needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 2,000.

Severe cracking of dash board. numerous complaints already made about this problem

Dash board is cracked in multiple spots. *tr

Truck gets a severe wobble when it goes over rough spot in road and the wobble is so severe that it is all a person can do to hang on without wrecking to get the truck slowed and stopped. *tr

2003 dodge 2500 dashboard cracking severely. clearly a hazard due to sharp edges and loose shards of plastic. the damage is extending towards the instrument panel and passenger airbag. concerned that the airbag may become affected by the disintegrating dashboard. *tr

Pillar handle broke and dash cracking. almost fell to the pavement when handle pulled off pillar. can believe its plastic hangers. also dash cracked right above airbag on passenger side. *tr

Recently i noticed that the dash had cracked on the passenger side. it was not very noticeable from the driver's side and a passenger pointed it out. since first noticed, the crack (tear) has continued to grow. *tr other than the crack in the dash, the truck looks brand new.

The dash has cracked into multiple razor sharp spintered sections. in the event of a frontal crash, with air bags deployed, its possible these spintered sections will cause severe facial and bodily trauma to any passengers in the vehicle. *tr

The dash board on my 2003 dodge ram is crumbling on some parts and cracking very badly on others. if i should be in an accident the dash is so bad that it would cut the airbags no mater what chrysler says this is a safety issue that needs to be taken care of asap. before someone is injured not after. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the a-pillar, which held the windshield in place, broke. as a result, the dashboard also suffered damage. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the bolts for the a-pillar were known to break. the failure mileage was 79,000 and the current mileage was 79,900. updated 08/24/11*lj the consumer stated his father grabbed the front passenger side windshield pillar handhold to assist him entering the vehicle. when he was halfway up the handhold, it gave way and he fell back against the door which kept him from falling completely on the pavement. when the consumer examined the damage, he found the handhold was formed with the windshield pillar trim. it was made of plastic which was held on with two 8mm bolts. the bolts were recessed, one at the top of the handhold and one at the bottom. both bolts were still attached; the top bolt trim base had broken away from the trim/handhold and still had the plastic trim behind the head of the bolt. the bottom bolt had pulled completely through the trim/handhold base. the trim/handhold pulled so far out, that it also broke the dashboard top. updated 04/19/12

Dash is cracking in several places. *kb

I'm the first owner of this vehicle and the dash started cracking at 65,000 miles. so far there are 5 different cracks. *tr

Dashboard started to crack a few months ago, just hairline cracks at first. now there are long cracks everywhere & the dashboard may fall in & disrupt whatever electric circuits are underneath. local dodge dealer wouldn't take action unless i paid for it. he said "don't use armourall" which i don't. dodge customer assistance was no help either. there appears to be something wrong with the materials used to manufacture the dashboard. the cracks continue to expand. afraid to drive it! *tr
